Plot twist is new, but the story telling is generic. Basically, name a highschool anime/manga and replace the name of the characters with this one.

Author focuses way too much on the new kids with their whining and chuunibyou tendencies.

The MC is behaving like a child even though he has already experienced war. It's been 11 chapters, I'm half-expecting him to be engaged in politics, building an army, organizing resources, updating world news from the last decade... but nooooooo, the story is filled with s*upid dialogues made from a gag manga.... more>>

The translation is good though. Wish they had an editor that can translate the "tone" to english as well.

Went ahead and gave it 5 stars.

Translator releases every 2/3 days which is brilliant. Chapters are fairly long and satisfying. There's some grammatical errors and spelling mistakes, however it doesn't halt the flow of the story.

Basic plot is that the MC was first summoned to the fantasy world to slay the demon lord. When he succeeded in his mission, he talked about starting an adventurers guild and proposed to his elf follower. Just as she was about to give her answer, he gets summoned again. However this time, he's summoned... more>> 20 years into the future (same world) by the demon lord's daughter to become a demon lord.

The story is very good so far, plot progression is just right. You really feel connected with the MC with his guilt from killing the daughter's father. There's also a scene in chapter 7/8 where....

Spoiler

The witch who summoned them (a child) seems emotionally unstable. At one point when the other 4 summoned humans are eating around a table as their roles are being explained. One of the men shouts at the witch and blames her for getting them stuck in the world. That's where you find out she hates humans, but you don't yet know why.

A little later on, she asks the MC to comfort her (basically hug her) in front of everyone. So he does so whilst stroking her head and saying comforting words. As he breaks free, the girl looks down and mutters "mama... papa" leading to the possibility that the adventuring guild the MC set up before he was summoned, may have killed the girls parents

[collapse]

So basically, the first part is the MC finding out what effect his adventurers guild has had on the world. I'm guessing the next part is him dealing with it and trying to fix it. <<less

I wanted to like this story; I really did. I was hoping for a good "MC goes 'evil' out of necessity to correct the errors of his formerly naive vision type of story". But as of V3 the MC still has commitment issues (not just to which side to join, but to the few who simply want to be loved and wanted for even a moment in such a dark time) and didn't even attempt to do much more than just restore a few fortifications and plan his eventual journey.... more>> He's just pining away for his lost love and wasting time with a naive hope that everything isn't actually as bad as it is.

At this point, I'm starting to feel like one of the heroines needs to die horribly just so that the MC can realize that his naive thinking is only going to get others killed because he's not willing to actually man up and take some responsibility. And that's very sad. One would think that seeing the wretched state of things for the demons, and reading about the state of things for the last 20 years, would galvanize him into some action.

But nope. THE MC STILL CANNOT DECIDE ON A COURSE OF ACTION AS OF V3.

On the other side of things, I feel more sympathy for the creeper lolicon than I do for the MC, and kind of wish that the other 3 supporting males took the lead instead against the corrupted humans. Of course, I don't expect them to last long, leaving the MC himself to maybe pick up the pieces after seeing the corpses of his newest bros.

I will redo this review once V3 comes to an end, with either a higher or lower score depending. But at the moment, it really isn't looking all that great. <<less

A chuuni trying to write tragedy series, which fails miserably. The characters are walking tropes with a forced tragic background on them. Try to imagine chuuni with angst and slip in pe*verted antics and you will got the MC on this series.

Also all the tragedies are resolved way too conveniently, it's basically a rom-com fairy tale trying to disguise itself as tragedy story. It's halfbaked, which directly causing the series lacking in direction. It feels the author was not sure on whether trying to be tragic, funny, or romantic.

(Note: This will be more of a rant than a proper review.)

Given the art quality of the cover and the synopsis for this novel, it made me a bit interested to see how the story for this one would turn out. Considering that I am currently reading works like Tensei Shitara Slime and Konjiki no Moji Tsukai and is waiting for new releases. But at this point, 2 volumes in and I have say that I would have to give it a drop for this one.

More than 10... more>> chapters in, I have yet to see any real progress of even a point to this story already. Granted, that other than the protagonist we have complete newbies from Japan who were summoned to the Demon Capital, the protagonist has spent this entire time doing relatively nothing other than fixing the Demon's Castle. I would have stuck with it more if the characters and their interactions were remotely interesting, but as of yet the reader is introduced to little girls, and for some reason they all hug the protagonist at first sight even if some were complete strangers. I've read and came across Princesses who were ignorant (e.g. Altina from Altina the Sword Princess), but never have I seen before girls that were completely whiny and useless upon first impression (demonstrated no real useful skill or ability as of yet). But I guess that's harem for you.

Story: Is rather on the slow side, where even though I only read the Demon Lord summoning phase, there was no real mention of the world and politics. Even yet, no comprehensive mention of the world's power system

Characters: Didn't leave a good impression honestly. Protagonist sure liked to spend his time leisurely in the castle despite wanting to save his first love, Onodera and his otaku nature creeps me out, the Elf Princess being in loli-form creeped my out by saying...

Spoiler

"Let's make babies!!! :D"

[collapse]

... the first time she was introduced, the other maid girl who (granted) was taught "things", and then there is the idiot Sucubuss Princess who for some reason is physically or magically weak all the time.

Conclusion: Would I recommend this? Personally no, since I am the sort of reader who needs a "point" or real progression to a story at least a few chapters in. Other than the initial twist of the protagonist being summoned to the Demon's side as supposed to the Human's, there is nothing remotely interesting to note in regards to story progression or characters. I would recommend works like Sendai Yuusha wa Inkyou Shitai, who also presents a similar story of a former hero who went on a time-skip, or Konjiki no Moji Tsukai where the protagonist has taken survival matters into his own hands.

... But hey, if you're the type of person who has the patience to go through a slow progression story and cringy characters, then by all means I am not stopping you. <<less

Very interesting plot. From a summoned hero to be forcefully summoned as maou. Finally, understand the effects of his winning as a hero and the cruelty of human race..

The characters are very unique and interesting. I like every girls personalities. They are cute and funny. I recommend this novel. Look forward for more updates. Thanks.

V1-2 is slightly slow but enjoyable character development for this pretty standard hero summoning fantasy novel. Though I admit it's the first were I see Demons are the ones asking help to defend against humans which is pretty interesting.

The feeling/atmosphere is pretty carefree until in V3 it almost feels like we change novels to cruelty and backstabbing... can't say I enjoy the change much since MC is still keeping his indecisive attitude about what he should really do which in the end just makes things harder for him and... more>> people close to him (big surprise).

I'm slightly expectant to read V3 until the end and see the direction which we are heading but after that I might just drop this. One of the things on top of my list of "things I hate in WN" is MC that is completely OP but instead of using his power he just decides to hide so he won't be found out. Get your sh*t together MC so I can start enjoying this series again at V4 <<less

The biggest contradiction this story has is that MC sees himself as the Savior of the world and Hero, when he clearly f*cked up and didn't understand whose his friends were.

It started off good. I am deeply impressed. Well fleshed out Characters and good comedy. But the Author doesn't suit the Fantasy genre. The comedy that comes out of the Character Interactions is good enough to be a Rom-Com in Modern Day LNs. I want to give this 4 Stars but the MC puts me off. Because of his indecisiveness... more>> his girls get "crippled". Even the Yankee or Otaku makes a better MC in a way. He wishes for a world without bloodshed. But he doesn't get it through his thick head that Humanity is truly evil. They don't see Non-Humans as equals and are like Natzis. He wants to talk things out with the Guild Master whose his former friend but Rimino hasn't told MC that the GM is a traitor. Which baffles me. The girls didn't summon the "Heroes" to save them but for revenge. The girls have been deeply traumatized and weakened, also blinded by hatred. Knowing that the "Heroes" would be existences they couldn't control, at the least they could kill a lot of Humans. Anyways, my favorite character is Rimino but she isn't given enough credit I think. <<less

Wanting to rate it to 3 for just another rather generic isekai-theme but rather, past few chapter, its plot-twists are superb. The introduction progresses slowly that you may feel to drop it out, but past that point, the world goes rotating. MC is not such an ass harem-king, though he's "a popular one". MC is also OP but not a world-breaking fag.

Spoiler

MC is a former hero which had him resummoned on the demon's side but after 20years of his hero time. Reluctant at first on what he will do. Wants to find his former companions / first love, only to find out that his first love invades the demon castle. He has no choice but to stop her to protect the demon's side.

[collapse]
After passing out this point, the hype goes on.

There are some comedic parts, but the tragedy is what really stands out. The overall world-building do takes time though. Aside from that, it's a good reading material.

Recommended to those who seeks a hero-type MC that will experience some tragedy. <<less

As of V3 C10 the story seems promising.

The characters may seem s*upid but that speaks of their personal circumstances. MC has to hide he is the hero, hence he acts weak and ignorant. Yankee really has to return, so he wants to finish his mission quickly. Megane is... he's doing fine... Ikemen speaks very little about himself, for a very good reason.

All the demons have a grudge against humans because of the persecution they suffer, and almost all of the ones introduced have traumas.

On the other side, twisting the MC's... more>> knowledge and understanding of that world, the humans have become monsters guided by greed and anger. Humans are tr*sh.

The biggest downside the novel has is the slow development.

Spoiler

As of what I read they still have not left the castle. And not to talk about that battle that lasted around four chapters and it was mostly MC trying not to kill four adventurers (at least it was good for setting the mood of what adventurers are like)

Like many others, I started reading this story because of its interesting premise. I had many question when started this story.

What happens to the world after the hero defeats the demon king? What will the winner side do and what happens to the loser side? What will the hero do when summoned 20 years to the future by the very demons that he fought against to save them from the humans who he once fought alongside?

But to be honest at first I was a little bothered by how the story... more>> progressed specially in the first two volumes. Maybe I thought it was slow or different from other similar stories. But the more I read the more I found the story engaging and after reading all of the translated chapters, out of curiosity, I continued reading the raw chapters using Google translate. The English translation was a little messy and even names were translated differently but it was readable and I managed to finish the story.

And now I can see that the author had a clear vision of the whole story from the beginning. Many introduced characters have their own goals and roles, not just for the sake of the MC story. After defeating the demon lord, our main hero is summoned by the demons 20 years to the future but alongside of 3 other Japanese heroes. Despite of being fairly overpowered from the beginning, the MC doesn't immediately set on a journey to fight the evil. Instead he spends couple of months to train the other heroes, find the truth, figure out what to and planning.

The initial chapters are a build up for many future events and relations.

Spoiler

For example the maid that Yoshinobu loves later becomes an emotional pillar for him and he also becomes an emotional anchor for other heroes.

[collapse]

There are many twists and turn of events, betrayal of friends and friendship with the enemies. Every character has a back story, someone that they love and something they want to accomplish. It's a story that depicts the relations and conflicts of many races if that world and what happens when greed, selfishness or anger take over our actions.

In short it's not a perfect story and you can fine plot holes and plot armors. But it's deeper than most stories and a rewarding read for me. I hope it gets translated completely. <<less

It's been 3 years since I finished reading this one. This one is a hellish world towards the MC. He suffered so much it's like hellmode suffering before finding happiness.

Spoiler

MC found his first love/heroine after all the struggles and it's not a happy reunion at all. He suffered difficult fights and scenarios before arriving at the happy ending where the heroine and MC teamed up for the final war. It's because of the heroine/true love that the harem route failed.

[collapse]

It's not a perfect story but it's enjoyable ride with good fights and development. It depends on the readers taste but I can assure that it's good. If you want an action where the MC overcoming the struggle without being protected by plot armor, then this is the one for you.
