It was nice, actually.

The development is written very well. The details are exquisitely written.

I love, love, love the characters of this novel! They're just so unique, flesh out of the book.

The characterization is simply amazing. I applaud the Author for doing that.

Also, the development was superb! From Xiao Yan, to the plot, and to their relationship!

Thou, fair warning; this novel contain mature themes, so be prepared.

I'm gonna miss these people. T^T

From the special forces soldiers to the researchers, to the main characters.

Tbh, I read this one because it's smut lol. I didn't expect anything other than the smut part. So when reading it I feel proud of myself that I found this one when looking for a novel to read.

MC isn't strong but he is smart. ML is strong and he is also smart in other area. I won't criticize ML for what he did because without those things, I doubt this novel will progress. Besides all the things most reader question and criticize about is written in the tag┐ ( ̄ヘ ̄)... more>> ┌. <<less

The worst thing about this novel is not the dominant ML, as many think it is the s*upid MC, I have read novels with witty, childish, clumsy MCs, white lotus, etc, but this is the only time I see such a s*upid MC I agree with the comment of Kikiji, 80% of the things that happen to him are caused by the same thing, the worst thing is that I don't understand where his s*upidity comes from, is that supposed to be the case why he grew up in the... more>> region and has never left? So why all the other people who live in the county if they have their common sense intact? And I don't mean his longing for the outside world despite the dangers while everyone knows they should stay protected, no it's not because of that, I mean the s*upid actions he does from time to time and get him into trouble, for example, going to look for Jane Wallace at a bar alone, at night, without any protection or company, when the person is obviously much stronger than him, is violent, aggressive, and clearly has s*xual desires towards him, that's probably asking for a screaming r*pe, tell me if this isn't being an idiot? It's the first time I read such a ridiculous MC!! The author is supposed to express that the MC is special, he is witty and without malice, as seen in his subconscious but it just seems pathetically s*upid to me, no matter how much effort the author puts into describing how smart his brain is, every time he performs a foolish action, against common sense, it only makes me think that he deserves to be beaten to death, I can't count the times that I wish something really bad would happen to him to see if he learns that way... I get tired, his idiocy bored me, I'm struggling to continue the story because I don't like to leave things half done but I don't know if I can... <<less

I don't know if I need to continue or not. I like the idea of the story. But the characterization and development are frustrating. Someone in the review said that Xiao Yan is submissive type that sees Heine as God. While the other said that its a matter of likeability. I thought I can pass it, but in my opinion Xiao Yan has no self respect for himself. Why he feels the need to believe that everyone and anyone look down on him??

Even tho Heine or others never sees Xioa... more>> Yan that way, Xiao Yan's misunderstanding of how low himself in the eyes of others bring me so much frustation. So, by the reviews from other saying that Xiao Yan will be forever like this, I can't stay to suffer.

Yes, everyone has their own insecurities. Its never a weakness. However for Xiao Yan case, he has every chance to break this insecurity and everyone around him capable make him be confident and treasure himself yet he fails it.

Besides that, all the character but Heine sometime acted like teenange girl. The way they talk and behave showing that ruthles, naive type of teenage girl. I don't say that type is bad. For young girl starting to understand the way this world work is cute to see but for older characters with so much experiences to behave like that is hard to be accepted :/

I respect Translators for sharing this story for free. However author's way convey the story brings so much frustation. <<less

You see an ad for a raging new rollercoaster promising fun thrills and endorphins-inducing action, but in turn it ended up being a total sham. This novel's pretty much the same. The premise seems wicked fun... I mean what more can you say with ML being a super soldier that has everything about him enhanced, s*x drive including—I think that's good enough bait for me! But I just didn't enjoy the route it took nor the overall execution. I couldn't even get attached to any of the characters (especially MC)... more>> & I felt that they all lacked gravitas. I REGRET I DIDN'T READ THIS NOVEL SOONER.

So the negative reviews kind of scared me because it sounded like the main CP is full of non-con and abuse, and I'm just NOPE.

However! While those things like dislocating shoulder, s*xual fantasies does happen, THE CIRCUMSTANCES were very different. Note that I don't condone what Heine does with all his mind invasion and early violence but reading the story paints Heine with different colors. And what colorful novel this was.

MC development of character was so smooth yet immense you can't help but... more>> look back and marvel how much he changes. Every character has a story. They're all heartbreakingly beautiful. Even those who passed away. Though I lament that both ML and 2nd ML are such characters. Both their character settings are very compatible with the story. But Heine is LanWangji v.2 and Jean is a prick sadly with brain. I reckon many people would love him.

Knowing this story was made in 2013, I simply feel this author is a brilliant artist. Hands down. I've read her other story first, the law of the other world and it paints such vivid world too.

Anyway this is a wholesome story. Lots of death. Non-cons (so be warned and be careful and take care of yourselves if it's a trigger)
Spoiler

while no penetrative r*pe happened in real life, it happens in fantasies, many dub-con kisses (between Xiao and Heine) and enraging non-con kisses and an attempted r*pe by ML2 to MC

. Progressive plot. Colorful actions. And sweet fluffy romance. And betrayals like Run!BTS.

This is a must read. And the translators have done brilliant job. Great work. <<less

I was also skeptical of the low reviews when deciding whether to start this novel or not but I don’t regret it. The author doesn’t write just to fill space, it’s all written to advance the plot with many parts catching you off guard as you finally piece all the parts together.

The MC and ML’s relationship may seem rocky at first but it’s all explained as you progress through the story. The comments and reviews had me wary of continuing into the next chapter but it was so worth it at the end

The story has great background with an amazing plot that had me hooked. The characters aren’t 2d and have their own unique charms and personality that just makes you fall in love with them as you read. There’s plenty of dimension to them and they don’t just feel like a bunch on unimportant fodder to make of the MCs friends

Honestly the best part for me had been the character development for the MC, he wasn’t too op in the beginning but had his benefits. He wasn’t overly op for no reason and worked hard to get where he is. He grew through everything he experienced and hadn’t been afraid of progressing through his effort. His character was a bit slow in the beginning but it added to his charm as you watched him grow into who he was at the end

The ML is possessive and gives lowkey yandere vibes but he always had our MCs best interest at heart and supported him in everything he did. But maybe I've also just got a thing for characters who’s cold and oppressive demeanor mean nothing in front of the one they love.

This story was a great read and one of my favorite apocalypse novels so far! Just be warned that you may get diabetes while reading (*¯¯*)

I'm almost finished with it but I came up for air to write this review because I am enjoying myself immensely.

First of all the setting and world building, brain hacking, x-virus and zombies has me very intrigued. The action scenes got me glued to my screen as I'm watching it play out in my own head.

Second, I did get put off with ML at first but we are looking at this through the eyes of the MC. And then it gradually seeped into my veins and I'm hooked. I really... more>> do like seeing the MC admitting he likes the ML, we as readers see him almost always looking or thinking about him, greedily taking in how handsome the ML is. It's nice to know he's thirsty too. From their soft, intimate gestures to the hard smut, it's delicious.

Third, the side characters don't lose out either. They're memorable and have their own quirks and side ships.

Overall I thought it was a pretty good read. <<less

Ive been meeting this novel a couple of times but refused to give a go reason being the first review I read discouraged me.

After countless times of coming across it I decided to try it out no matter the outcome since I'm someone who never complete a novel if it doesn't leave hanging and thirsting for more but I never regreted it. From the moment I started reading I know I was on the wright track and was not willing to get of.

I'm someon who hates marysue and op characters... more>> since I tend to relate novels to the real life we in.

The translation was good, plus a nice plot which could get you hooked the moment you started reading.

I'm someone who desidains same s*x relationships and whenever I came across the bl novel I would skip without taking a second glimpse but got tired of marysue plots and decided to cross over bl novels and I don't regret being a rotten girl while reading to quench my thirsty <<less

The short version: I recommend this to all those who love BL, non-stop action ?, zombies ?‍♂️, evil villains ?‍♂️, and lots of smexy interludes ?

The long version: So after binge reading all chapters I can honestly say it's pretty d@mn good!! The action had me breathless.

There was a part where the weak MC went back for a trainer super soldier who was pinned down by assassins. He actually killed one of those b#tches to save the soldier!! I f*ing cheered!! ?

[collapse]

The action's what kept me reading. The s*xual tension blew my mind ?. The characters were likeable, some you just need to hate. And the story made since mostly... There probably should have been a r*pe tag on this story. And the MC was hella dense when it came to anything relationship wise. And just when I though he finally got a d@mn clue

Spoiler

the author scrambles his memories and he forgets why he loves Heine... seriously ?

Thats just one of the reasons I gave it 4 stars instead 5. The other reason

Spoiler

F#CKING JANE!! I know some of the readers loved his a$$, but I couldn't stand this manipulative SOB. Because he was stronger than the MC he made the MC do whatever he wanted constantly threatening him. Yes at first Heine is not much better, but at least Heine didn't kidnap the MC and make him do his dirty work. And the plot issue that irritates me about Jane, THE HIGHER UPS KNEW HE WAS THE ENEMY. YET THEY DIDN'T MONITOR HIM EVEN KNOWING THEY COULDN'T TRUST HIM?!? ? THUS LEADING TO HIM BETRAYING THEM AND THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE KILLED?!? How the H*LL does this make since?!?! But that's okay, the MC forgave him in the end... ?

From zombies, to assassins, to traitors, this book has plenty to keep you reading. Oh and yes, plenty of ??? Gets real spicy!!! <<less

As it has already been mentioned, the plot is amazing. Seriously intriguing. The reason I give 2 stars is because of of our MC. He´s supposed to be a genius but outside his "research job" he is ridiculously air-headed, weak, inept, naive idiot who couldn´t even approach the girl he liked without seeming like a creep. The ML... yes he´s the typical abusive over-dominating possessive handsome yada yada but I can´t seem to dislike him as much as MC since it´s always the MC with golden halo misunderstanding ML and... more>> forgiving him instead of spitting in his face.

ML uses his authority to intrude on his privacy, drags him wherever he wants, enters MC´s subconscious and messing with his mind without his permission, breaks MC´s shoulder when he befriends a girl (it just gets worse) and ALL THAT WHEN THEY AREN´T EVEN IN A RELATIONSHIP. And MC sees nothing wrong with it T_T

Point is, this is the best apocalypse novel I´ve read but MC ruins everything. If you can get pass him, then it´s actually worth reading. <<less

I have to admit it was difficult for me to read this story at first because of how heavy it (the theme of death) was. I dropped this awhile back and I finally picked it up again yesterday but I'm so glad I did because this novel was simply a gem. In the first half, I couldn't really get into the story because I was so afraid of XY getting hurt and bad things happening but then the author gave him a means of protecting himself

XY learns to fight and he becomes stronger. Heine trains him (eat tofu) personally ><

That was when I finally put down my uneasiness and read the book properly and it was so good. I literally could not put it down. The fighting scenes are really well written too. Their romance is so intense I think I forgot how to breath sometimes.

The plot and world building is amazing. Plot twists here and there too made the story really interesting.

Good story, great build-up, amazing translations! LOTS of UST with dense MC lol. ML is the typical ice block, but if you read behind the lines, he's actually pretty caring and sweet. ;DD While I say dense MC, that's misleading because he's actually genius-level smart without all the scheming and ambition involved, and also not dead-weight in front of zombies. YAS all around!

This is an exciting, action-filled sci-fi series. If you don't like BL, then you can just skip those moments. The cast members make quite a funny combination, and the MC has excellent character growth. He is smart but lazy. He isn't strong, but his ability to remain calm and take courageous action begins to really set him apart. The action and gore are very well-done.

I almost didn't read the series when I realized there was no fantasy to freshen-up a zombie survival story, but I am glad I tried it... more>> out. The unique cast and weapons are definitely entertaining.

The biggest weakness I have seen so far is a lack of detail to the weaponry and other sci-fi elements. There are some minor holes in logic. Another reviewer mentioned their lack of communication with the base. Another question is how little bits of technology work since some minor details don't make sense, but this could also be fixed by just adding more description to things. The MC can easily calculate the rate of things, such as air in a container or how long it will take a fluid to fill up a container. However, observing dimensions of things in real life and knowing the rate of flow through mere observation instead of a written textbook question is really difficulty. He must be able to visually measure speed and dimensions of things very accurately to get the variables for his calculations. To make it practical in real life requires a high level of skill. It would make more sense if he used lenses or something like that to measure the variables for the equations, but nothing of the sort has been mentioned.

Even so, it's a pretty entertaining series.

UPDATE: After completing the series, there are some more obvious plot holes, and the primary villain's motive is weak at best. The plot may have made more sense and been driven more coherently if the author continued writing the series and gave it time to do so. The series is fast-paced to the point of feeling rushed in the final third of the series. Great world-building and character depth moments are neglected. That said, it is still an exciting and riveting plot with good action scenes.

When I initially posted my review is before all the r*pe scenes began. The ML literally mind-rapes the MC repeatedly before physically raping him in real life. The r*pe scenes are violent with blood, bruises, and broken bones. Yes, the ML literally breaks the MC's bones while the MC is screaming, crying, and begging him to stop while the ML is raping him.

This is another one of those Chinese BL series where r*pe is treated as acceptable as long as the ML does it. Even though soldiers are stationed outside the door and have the job of protecting the MC, they do not step in to rescue or stand up for him at all.

I really felt they the MC and ML should have broken up once the ML became so abusive toward him. He was already physically abusive. I feel like they did well motivating each other, and then it was time for them to end things. Their relationship isn't healthy until the end.

Eventually, the ML and MC have a more consensual relationship, and the ML finally learns to respect and cherish him.

That said, the r*pe FLAG on this series is pretty big. Both the ML and second ML are equally nasty people. <<less

I am such a fan of this story. It's such an incredible loss that Elpis Creation's translations are all gone. Elpis translations were fantastic since they were a native speaker and did not use MTL at all... but I digress, back to the novel itself.

The story is just too good, for one, it starts off in a time line where humans, long into the future, have established a new way of life and how to tackle the issues of zombies.

The worldbuilding is robust and interesting, and the author does well... more>> using both descriptive and environmental storytelling. (Though the description may be a tab bit heavy handed)

The characters are MEMORABLE and have show-all than a tell-all personality. The story does not stretch itself into a long series and is a perfect roller coaster ending at 100 chapters.

I really reccomend to anyone who wants and *actual* action-heavy and is also BL Zombie apocalypse. <<less

First of all, sorry for my English (I use google translator)

I honestly do not like this novel at all, rather I have hated every damn chapter of it. I have read chapter 20 for the good score, but since the first chapter I have already found a thousand complaints from reading this.

I don't like the way the author writes.
I don't like the world
I do not like the protagonists, nor the other characters.

Spoiler

the world: very normal zombies, the descriptions are very basic, they seem crappy... not at all ferocious... rather they seem to be a complement to the story. Zombies hardly matter, as they kill them like flies.

the writing: it is not detailed, an example: it can describe to you that the protagonist1 MC, is lying on the bed and the protagonist 2 ML is sitting on the bed, and then he tells you that they are kissing. And do you think, when have they gotten close? was not one sitting?

the characters: the main protagonist MC, has no personality, no power or decision of his life. He does what he is told without complaining, the ML can break his shoulder and the MC will be fine with this.

the other protagonist, the ML, is even worse: he does not speak, he is almost mute, cold... the author wants to give that cliché personality of a tough, cold and cool boy, but for me, he is rather boring. out of 20 chapters, he has said a maximum of 15 words.

The author gives a force to the ML that for me is nonsense. With one touch he can break the MC's arm.. but with a little fluid he can heal him. What's the point of this? he can kill it with a simple touch but he can heal it instantly too,... it's like.. for what? That he can kill him very easily seems good to me, because that way you see that the protagonist has to be careful and gives the story a bit of anguish... but if he can save him instantly, what is the point of it? So you think, it doesn't matter if he breaks his arm, his leg,... nothing happens because he can heal in two seconds. He seems s*upid to me.

and I have to say, that I like cold MLs, but not this ML. I like love-hate relationships, that the protagonists talk, argue, laugh, fight,... there is none of that here, there is no dialogue between them.. so it seems s*upid that they fall in love, if they hardly speak.. one commands and the other obeys. Where's the romance?
there is no development.

so, the romance: you don't know when it develops or why, because they hardly speak to each other, it seems false and forced to me. It gives me the feeling that the author does not know how to develop personalities.
Also, the broken bones and all that, I do not find it pleasant at all, rather very unpleasant to read.

[collapse]

I have many more things to say,.. but since I don't know how to express myself well in English, I keep quiet here.

I have read many better novels than this, I do not understand such a high score. maybe later it gets better.. but I can't take any longer reading this. so, anyway, thanks to the translators. <<less

Note: I read the MTL version of this (dealeigh on Wattpad) and while that is probably just a rough outline of this story, I still loved it. I hope that this can get picked up again by a translator and hopefully an official English license one day

Summary: The world was hit by a comet years ago and infected the world, resulting in zombies. To combat them, unaffected humans living in the Shire created the x-virus which accelerates cells and essentially provides super-strength but at the cost of capping off the... more>> user's life to 10 years from injection time. The x-virus also is very addicting so anyone who comes in contact with it via saliva and other bodily fluids will lose control. In addition. There is another group of humans that are going against the Shire (called the Tide/Surge in what is currently available to read). Xiao Yan (MC) is a second-line science student in a post-apocalyptic world who gets in an accident and meets Heine Burton (ML), the number one person in the military who has the x-virus. The ML originally hates the MC but that quickly changes (though the MC doesn't realize)

I recognize that this story is polarizing, but this is one of my all time favorite novels and I sincerely hope that everyone will read it. The primary reason: the CP grow equally. Lots of other reviews say that there is non-consent, but you have to realize only in their minds can the ML be sure that the MC's responses to him are his own and not due to the x-virus.

So I'll say this: Heine Burton is one of my favorite MLs.

The ML very quickly realizes that the MC is different from others and wants to be with him from early on. He is intrigued from the beginning and becomes more interested. Despite his overbearing nature he always wants to bring the MC to his level and even states that if the MC surpasses him, he will run to catch up to him. I personally dislike when the CP are so unequal in abilities and skills and this is one of the few stories where the MC is able to develop on his own and the ML supports him in this to the point where they are both OP. Moreover, the ML has no bottom line when it comes to the MC.

There are a ton of lovable side characters in this as well. Honestly, this story can get a little out there (it's sci-fi after all) but it's one of my favorites and I re-read it frequently. I really hope that people won't judge this story by the reviews that haven't even completed the story. <<less

I was really hooked on the book. Liked the start a lot but towards the end the zombie killings just made me zone out a bit.

Could really see how MC Xiao Yan grew and became OP. I dont know why so many ppl bashed Heine the ML but come on the author has already wrote him to be this sort of person. What he does is not out of expectation. Or maybe my trigger points are just really low.

A good read. Very fast paced. Most of the characters are well... more>> thought out. <<less
