“I may kill you and take all the money you’ve to inherit for myself. Even so, are you alright with me?”

When we were done with the marriage, those words I nonchalantly tossed at her. For a moment, she made a face of surprise, before smiling as she assented.

“That’s fine. It’s only a matter if I can get you to fall before that, right?”

Her challenging words somehow made her out as a gallant warrior, making me open my eyes wide for a second. And within the day, I had inputted, ‘the probability I can kill my wife without being found out,’ into my glasses. After entering that simple question, the wearable terminal took in various affairs, computed to a precise value of them, and output a probability.

This is actually an ancient manual of the "Eye River Red Nose" hidden ninja arts. An upgrade to the "Invincible Chopped Onions" ninjutsu.

When recited, Practitioners will render enemies' bodily fluid to constantly flow from the eyes and nose while whimpering in quiet pain.

Depending on the level of your adversaries, they might break down into fetal position and question their choices in life, forever crippling their cultivation progress.

However, should you encounter an enemy without a heart or a romantic bone in their body, you are urged to cultivate the second part... more>> of this art, aptly titled "A Game To Make Him Fall"

Read this first before A Game to Make Him Fall. I like that we get to know the husband's perspective and then the side of the wife. Things fall into place, tugs your heartstrings. Both perspective are very relatable. From both having pride and being persistent but at the end they still fall like dominoes. The husband is cute while the wife is awesome.

This is a short story done really well. 4.5/5

1. Presents a unique idea. Not cliche, and memorable.
2. It knows what the story it wants to tell, and doesn't waste words telling it.
3. It's enjoyable to read.
4. Despite being so short, there's still tension and plot progression.
5. Love how there is a part written from both the guy AND girl's perspective.

1. I'm going to ding it for the twist being slightly predictable.

This was a sweet and melancholic story. The short story is one of those that depict how sometimes you only realize what's really the most important to you once you lose it. It's classic but nonetheless still effectively draws you in.

This is a nice change of pace for people who usually read those fast paced romance novels but describe every f'cking detail that could exist just for moar money. Really, I loved this, simple, true development in characters and whatmost.

It stays true to what a romance in real life would be, no immediate breakdowns, no immediate love at first sight, only convenience that leads to some consequences, be them good ones or bad ones.

We are humans, we are slow, we love the truth, and when you love, you don't love... more>> someone for the image they are, but for who they are when they are with you, for how they actually are when they are with you, defenseless and senseless (sometimes).

A married and happy couple, who only married for convenience, I'm still baffled for the fact that she fell in love from the start already. And for the fact that he also fell in love with her ever since the start. But both were so stuck in that they should simply be classified as pre schoolers than mature adults. Lololol. <<less

I read the wife's view before the husband's (not that you really need to read them in order) and finally understood what was happening on his side. Very interesting to see how they felt for each other and why they did the things they did. A short story that can draw the reader in without making it seem too complicated.

I love this one because we can see the perspective of the male protagonist.

It just gives more depth to their characters.

If you want your heartstrings tugged then start reading this wonderful story.

LOVE both this story and its counterpart.

If you loved this one, then read "A Game To Make Him Fall" in this story you can see the perspective of the female protagonist.

Definitely 10/10.

My face is soaking wet with tears, despite the fact that this is my second time reading it.

The story and the writing are truly exceptional. It effectively portrays the "ordinary" life of an "ordinary" couple, while the emotional part is so heartbreaking that I find it impossible to hold back my tears.

The MC, who started out as cold and apathetic, was forced into a political marriage with his wife for 10 years. From the narrative, he seems indifferent and couldn't care less about his wife. However, I don't think he... more>> actually hates her at all. All those killing probabilities are more like a couple's joke, a topic to strike up a conversation between them, which they both acknowledged. In this way, their daily interactions feel oddly natural and amusing.
Spoiler

In fact, underneath his stubborn and indifferent exterior, the husband is actually a kind and caring person. He silently cares for his wife, and he does it so naturally. It's just that he is such an awkward person, hence he never openly admits it. However, his determination and decisiveness during a critical time are really moving. 😭 The hospital scene where he refused to give up on his wife is incredibly impressive. I cried a lot, I couldn't get it out of my head for a long time.

Thankfully, the story ends on a happy note, even though it takes years and nearly a sacrifice for him to finally realize his feelings and love for his wife.

[collapse]

I gotta give props to the wife, though, for being so patient in pursuing such an apathetic and tsundere husband. That can't be easy. 🤦‍♀️ <<less

Part 1 of the 2 connected short stories, so not really a one shot, though it can be read stand alone. I recommend reading both right away. It's a love story for people who know that love grows through consideration and thoughtfulness, and that it can be invisible until it's gone.

There are many stories about arranged marriages where said marriage isn't a happily-ever-after situation. But this is a special one that incorporates the idea of predictive technology (hence, the proability in the title) and uses it to help write the story and make it so that the ending leaves an impact and really just punches you in the gut and make you... feel things.

It's a slow romance, but it's bearable and refreshing even. The leads are realistically written. The experience of the story isn't complete unless you read A Game To Make Him Fall afterwards, so I highly reccomend that you do that once you complete this.

Read both the protagonist perspectives. One cannot help but cry out while reading this story. Too emotional a mixer of bitter-sweet happy ending. Both couples were seriously perfectly portrait. Roller coasters of moments perfectly displayed.

A story of how a guy who mildly hated his wife for their political marriage gradually starts treasuring her. The probability that was high at first gradually starts decreasing over time as his reluctance to kill her increases.

This story has some feels at the ending and I would recommend it since its a short story.

haha when I started reading this one shot and the possibility of him being able to kill his wife kept decreasing as time passes, I already have the thought that the reason why the possibility kept decreasing was not because his wife is too OP or smart or he's just bad at it. It should be because he isn't really willing to kill her. Her presence in his home has slowly changed from someone he 'hates' to someone he is willing to live with in his house to someone that... more>> he is slowly starting to care for. However, due to his past and how they actually got married, he does not know what he was feeling.

Well, overall it was a great and emotional story. Quite well written despite this being short. Definitely worth reading since it takes at most 20minutes to read?? But do read the alternative story which is in the Wife's POV after reading this one. The story will be much more completed. <<less

I cried an hour straight after reading this. Worse, I didn't know there's a second part – the wife's point of view.

The narration is great. I like everything about this story. The characters, atmosphere, analogies, dialogues, storyline... everything. I can't get enough of them. Although, I don't have the heart to reread it since I know it will make me cry again even after how many times I read it.

I actually shook halfway through the novel. I was so scared. This should be a light read but the way the story portrayed the husband's thoughts and feelings was simple yet so moving at the same time. I think my heart just came back to life after reading this. Thank you.

Oneshots are a bit strange for me to effectively give my thoughts on. Most are very simple and have to deliver their story with minimal character development and often won't leave you completely satisfied or they'll give you the ending you easily expected. This one is no different. You're given the bare minimum information about both characters but their interactions are nonetheless satisfying. However, this oneshot only really shines if you read its pairing oneshot "A game to make him fall". I wouldn't recommend either one by itself, but together... more>> they really put together a sweet story and the ending for "A game to make him fall" had me feeling something. <<less

Hesitated between 1 or 2 stars but I decided to settle for 1 star simply because I wasted my time on this which proves once again reviews can´t always be trusted on NU. As mentioned this is a classic story about not treasuring what you have until you lose it. Problem is that MC is so boring, the plot is so boring, the writing is so boring it puts me almost to sleep (I read this while eating in Mcdonalds) and the worst part is that the author tries to... more>> pull in readers by giving a crazy/unique/eye brow raising title- which she succeeded in.

And that´s what put me off. When reading such a mad title you expect some bat sh*t crazy MC who´s not right in the head, but I ended up getting hit in the face with a totally mediocre, plain MC who tells his newly wedded wife that he plans to kill her. If you want to kill someone, would you tell them? Obviously no. That´s when I figured out this is the authors way of giving the short novel a twist, a really cringey twist because the author couldn´t be more creative with her characters or the story. And it failed miserably when you realize what a cheap shot that was. This is like a downgrade. If you want to read a romance tear-jerking story with quality then I shall warmly recommend "Our Second Master" and "One Night, One Day, One Year, One Lifetime". <<less
