This is about a Prince who is captured as prisoner and killed, then he is reborn as his enemy country’s ugly empress. With his black-bellied King of a husband, they love and hate each other. They use every possible method. Chickens fly and dogs jump, from imperial harem to imperial court there is no peace. In the end, they bring peace and stability to the country.

i m happy to pick this novel. Read it on chrysanthemum garden website. Perfect translation. Well done to the team of translators. This novel has ancient China palace political themes with few glimpse of imperial harem, gender bender there but basically its a yaoi. Many side stories there too, I was disheartened ciz of king feng and Zhao Lu ending but in extras finally read their happy ending. Story is fast paced. A good read

this novel was typical everyone is gay so they had more than 1 side CP, I like how this novel had some bitterness on it and told everyone that in politic there is no immortal enemy and immortal friendship, and I like that this bitter period not long and just enough to lit our emotions. Oh oh and one more, they had steamy spicy explicit scenes, not like other Chinese BL that had no more spice except salt and pepper :) <<less

Thank you so much for the new translation! I have read this before and keep thinking if the translation is better it’s will be more enjoyable. The story seem heavy but it’s not, actual kinda like this style of writing as it’s no lengthy description or draggy dog blood. And it’s kinda nice phase romance. There of course no deep explanation of the supernatural, but the cute romance for all the cps are good to read, as the chapters is short so considering this a short novel. Thank you

I personally didn’t really enjoy a story where the ML already had children and harem before he stumbled on our beloved MC. But this one really well written and have excellent translation (both translator here and in CG did a marvelous job) which lead me into enjoy this war and politic novel with a bit of romance sprinkled here and there.

If you just want a fluffy story, this might not suits your taste. But if you like both excellent MC and ML, great general and great ruler, talented and thinking... more>> about their people, this is the right book for you.

Their love didn’t come out of the blue. They both learn how to love each other and the feeling getting deeper with each interaction. The more the story unfold, the more you understand why they finally fell for each other.

The side CP will satisfy you with the fluff and more dreamy love story. Yet their story won’t outshine the main CP. And one thing makes me love this book is a hot NSFW stuffed in it, with our shameless ML finally succeed to get our MC’s love (and body).

Did not expect the novel to be this deep and complicated (to me at least). But the more I read the more it gets interesting.

The MC is very smart in some areas though dumb in others (like how Sheldon Cooper is).

One of the best historical novel 👍🏽🤩

Oh I'm reading this on Chrysanthemum Garden.

Uhm... I had so great expectations that I feel a little cheated...i started reading some years ago and when it was droped it kept poping up in my brain (i wouldnt ruin it with mtl) every now and then hoping someone would pick up the translation and when CG did I was DIEING for it to be finished so I could marathon

It's not that it isnt a good story but really I felt so many missed oportunities, maybe I'm just used to be abused by the authors but this story... more>> was too smooth

at the bigining MC was so mistirious and exótic, like even being a woman after dieing wouldnt fluster him (so hot right?), Turns out he's just a bit dull and too soft-hartedly-s*upid

ML is AN emperor, like he does everything he has to do and he does it right, not much to nitpick about him really he is just too ruthless and cunning (as he should) and well he practically trys to bully MC the whole time tho MC doesnt care cuz he has "low" EQ and well, he doesnt need to be bullied

Over all their relationship (main cp) is well... fated but not too sweet nor too sour it's what you would expect from a monarc with many concubines and a soldier with a brain injury that sometimes flares up, falling in love slowly

I looooved the side cps, even the antagonist moved me and made me cry for them, the uncle was Def my fav character, he is perfect and I would have liked to see MC be more like him.

Over all, good story, it has some war/polítics that are deep enough for the story to develop but not too much that is boring and as I said it has a smooth flow that makes me frustrated but apreciate it for the sake of my emotional stbility while reading

I loved that the emperor really respected the general, like he never treated him as a frail woman, not even when he was one and even in bed.

This is the kind of ML that I like, a responsable emperor (not dumping everything just for mc) that has a head over the shoulders (follows his heart and does what he whants) and common sense (this is a BL without brushes of BG that are common with MCs being girly, a paradox cuz MC is a woman? Yeah it is)

mind blowing plot, altho I really wanna know about the swap soul stuff, none of it explained here.

first half is like MR Queen drama

last half, here we go ~ ahahahahaa.

I though I will regret this but alas, I regret nothing after reading it. Not gonna spoiled it, go read and have fun. Don't rush it, cause its not a rushing one either, read carefully and savor it. Feel the beauty of each line and words ~

I absolutely love this novel to the point I read it 5 times and shall always read it time and time again. I enjoyed everything about it so so much. Gosh how I wish there was another novels similar to this so I can experience this amazing journey all over again. Highly recommend!

I'm really regretting for not reading after it was fully updated by hilloh... im not rude I know it's better to have something than nothing but I'm not that convinced by the new update it's just feel weird but I know they done their job well... the story going so nice that I'm crying over for not able to read wuwuwuu the story is so good...

I liked this novel, the fact that ML loves MC no matter how he (she) looks like, is very romantic and sweet. But I wish MC had a good reason for loving ML except for the fact that he liked the attention he received.

There is too many gay couples in the story which I don't like, I prefer a novel with just one gay couple in it, when there is three couple at one novel, it seems pushed.

At the first volume of the novel, MC doesn't let ML touch him... more>> (her) although he is her husband and the emperor, (s) he doesn't sell herself, and resists no matter what. But in the second volume (s) he suddenly stops resisting and although (s) he has manyyy chances of running away, (s) he doesn't, which is out of character for him, because (s) he doesn't want to be with ML and should seize any chance of rescuing himself, and the in the middle of second volume MC falls in love as well, which happens too suddenly, and the novel doesn't mention any reason for his sudden love except for him finally believing in ML's honesty, as if knowing that someone loves you is enough to love them back (if this was the case, there would be no one-sided love).

Overall I gave the novel 4/5 because of the unconditional love ML has for MC, loving him no matter how he looks like, just loving him for the way his is inside, and never raping her (him) while being the emperor and having the ability to do as he pleased. <<less

I was reluctant to start this at first because I'd read a few bad reviews, but so far I think it's one of the most intriguing novels out there, especially if you're into good plots replete with politics & court dynamics & strategy. Personally I haven't read a lot of gender benders so I found it really interesting to explore how teng yun deals with waking up in the body of his worst enemy's wife; & his transition from the battlefield, where physical & military skill are important, to the... more>> court, where scheming & manipulation & seduction are important. I appreciated that his having to adapt to his new body & lifestyle as a woman is never a source of cheap comic relief - he takes it all seriously, and in stride. I have mixed feelings on this one.

I do like the romance between Teng Ying and the emperor on later stages, but everything just doesn’t seem to gel smoothly. It’s like emperor jumps here there pretty fast.

Is it too much to expect a little loyalty? Some down time maybe. Heh.

Okay. I probably am writing this review because I just got dumped so my main focal is LOYALTY.

Pretty decent read. I won’t read it again but you won’t suffer much going through this novel. Light read is A-okay!

I must say it was underwhelming.

The world building was fine, political and war strategies were impressive, but man the relationships are meh. Only the second couple were logically making sense, the others just wut and how? Make it make sense

At the end especially in the extras, I just think the author was h**ny for gay couples... Without reason.

But I must say I shed a tear for Feng ming, bu*t not Zhao lu cuz FCK him

Honestly it was way better then I thought it was going to be. I really enjoyed reading this and highly recommend it but I can see why some people didn’t like it as almost all of the characters had some issues and they weren’t all black or white.

  • Who is crown prince's biological mother??
  • Why was the soul transmigration even happening? What happened to the orignal soul of the body?

I was expecting the soul thing to have something to do with plot and that it would be revealed in the end in a mega climax but I was clearly overestimating the plot... turns out it wasnt even a factor that needed to be explained.

The first volume was great!!!
But as I didn't find a good translation for the second volume I can't rate it completely, since what I read (almost complete) of the second volume I wasn't completely satisfied, as I don't know if it's due to the translation I still reserve the full rating of the novel.
