What is the most important thing about rebirth before the apocalypse? Grain storage? No, it’s trying to find the most important person in the past life! Reject the so-called relatives who have evil intentions!

The abilities of the previous life have followed, and their golden fingers have suddenly become very big.

Mutant plants, farming space, enough to feed himself and that man!

Su Ruizhe took out a handful of cherries and chili peppers with a simple smile: “Honey, these ingredients – oh, no, landmines – you take them and throw them out when you meet a zombie! But don’t eat it!”

Zhan Yun: “…”

Wife is good at everything, but just a little silly…

I can't take it anymore.. It's getting more and more boring each chapter..

The protagonist is truly the protagonist considering only his plant power can stop the zombies.. And there is his space, which can store anything and everything.. To be honest, whenever this space power comes up in a novel, I loose half of my interest nowadays because of the clichéd theme..

MC told ML about his reincarnation, and ML kissed him in the next scene !!! MC is only 16 -17 years old !!! A kid !!! ML is a... more>> full-fledged adult.. MC might remember everything from past life, but ML did not !!! MC was basically stranger to him.. It's simply creepy and pedophilia..

Whoever in MC's group ate zombie crystal were guaranteed to have super powers.. Not a single failure.. And they were also stronger than other super powered people.. MC seems to have Midas' touch..

What happened to the gang who followed ML before apocalypse, there's no mention upto this chapter.. And ML never once even thought about them.. He didn't even call them to warn before zombie breakout.. Quite inhumane if I think.. I don't know if they'd take entry later or not..

Too much emphasis on the game "Plant vs Zombies ".. They even had to copy how to use their powers from this game, because their puny brains were lacking something called imagination..

The plot is all over the place.. Don't know if I'll read it any further or not.. <<less

lol 😂 the title was super misleading but still the story is quite nice. I didn’t expect to like this (especially since it’s a zombie apocalypse kind of store, which I often hate) but it’s grown on me.

It’s a bit of a mishmash though when it comes to the MC’s situation, his ability (and the reborn knowledge) gives him the potential to be OP but he isn’t, you can somewhat see his growth but it’s more evident for the ML and their group. It’s also refreshing for the shou to... more>> be powerful and not in need of protection but the gong isn’t weak either and does try to care for him without being overbearing.

Spoiler

It's very influenced by the Plants vs Zombie game though, as a non-player there were times I had to look up stuff to understand or how to picture what they were trying to describe.

[collapse]

I think my only complaint is that the plot is short/shallow, this is my assumption though because it’s said that this story is only 113 chapters and complete. I’m already at 103 and so based on everything that’s been happening in the story so far (I’m waiting for the rest of the translation), for there to only be 10 chapters left makes me feel strange, because my impression is that not much really happened yet. I had to double check that this wasn’t ongoing because I felt that there was more to the story based on the narrative but alas only 10 chapters left till conclusion.
Is that really the end or is there a sequel that I don’t know about? <<less

It's a nice and easy to read novel. The plot is mainly focused on the main couple and their teammates going through the apocalypse with the help of the MC's knowledge and their powerful abilities.

As of c87, they are focused on helping their base, saving people and getting stronger.

The romance is very light (established relationship but only a few kisses, ML is very protective) and there's a bit of childcare (a rescued child). MC's ability is interesting but hasn't been fully exploited yet, the inspiration from plants vs. Zombies is... more>> really fun though. I like the teammates and their other allies as well.

Though they do encounter bad people, there are a lot of nice people as well ; the army/soldiers are trying to help civilians, people the main characters helped are actually grateful, people in charge can be capable and trust others.. It's not just face slapping scenes ones after another for the sake of drama and I like it - I get tired of everyone backstabbing the main couple all the time. Of course, people are not saint and they won't hesitate to kill if needed. I'm glad some situation are actually resolved quickly as it's more realistic.

Overall, it's entertaining and nice enough. It feels very light-hearted despite the apocalypse setting though so if you're looking for something easy to read to pass the time, it's a good choice. <<less

A very generic zombie apocalypse novel. Not bad but will leave you wanting more.

This novel could have been so much better that I just feel frustrated. The author gives a basic over view of everything happening and leaves the reader disconnected from the MC and crew. It is not a character driven story.

I almost kind of wish I didn't read this. I am just so unfulfilled that it's infuriating.

(2nd Reread Update: 03/12/2023) : Second time rereading this novel! I admit that the novel is a bit too whimsical, and is in fact quite flawed, but I have some fondness for it because it's

the first CN Zombie Apocalypse novel that I read LMFAO. As I'll mention again later on, this novel is more plot-driven than character driven. The main characters become more and more meaningless as the time goes on XD, and the plot just takes over after a while (which is what led me to stop this... more>> time around -- I only read up to the 80th chapter).

________

SUMMARY: The MC of this novel, Su Ruize, is your typical reborn protagonist -- he has a magical space and with the foreknowledge of the upcoming apocalypse, he's given the opportunity to hoard materials and gather a team before everything went to shit. What's extra about him is that he also has wood abilities. These wood abilities will require that you subvert your disbelief quite a bit, since it enables him to weaponize plants lolol. In any case, with such a cheat, he pretty much powers his way through the apocalypse along with the ML, Zhan Yun, who was an almost-lover in his first life that he had regretted leaving behind.

________

CHARACTERS: The characters in this story are a bit boring. They had potential, but because the story is more plot-focused, they're really mostly there for effect and to look cool.

    • Su Ruizhe (MC) is a typical Gary Stue. He has a power space ability as well as a wood ability that allows him to turn plants into weapons. His personality is usually a mix of shy and timid. But, there are odd key moments where he becomes OOC.
    • Zhan Yan (ML) is your typical possessive ML. He has a strong oppressive ability and is the leader of their group. His personality is pretty consistent but lacks depth.
___________

THOUGHTS: As a plot-driven story, it shines most in this regard.. I found the worldbuilding here quite amusing (especially the first time I read it.) The MC's abilities are definitely of broken, but well, it's quite fun regardless. Of course, as is common with other zombie apocalypse novels, the zombies and humans both are able to mutate and evolve here. Outside of that, I really love the survival elements. Those are definitely my fav parts of the story. The novel starts a month before the apocalypse and prepping for the end was fun. I think the story shined most in the beginning actually, because of these survival elements. Later on, the story grew more grand scale, and all the fun little things explored early on kind of became unnecessary. The pacing of the story is just a bit too fast, I suppose. Not much romance here btw. The main characters get together pretty quickly, tho that's mostly background stuff.

ALL IN ALL, I think it's worth reading for the fun of it. It's definitely the best in quality, which is why I'm only giving it a 3.15/5 rating, but its uniqueness makes it quite a novelty. <<less

The actual rating is 4.5 stars. I have a lot of fun reading it. The story is fun and enjoyable. There is nothing in particular that dislike about, except for them being a bit bland, so 0.5 point is deducted here (sorry).

Overall, I still like this novel very much. It's a leisure read without or barely any angst and tension. The MC is underage, and he acts like one. The ML's treatment for him is also according to this, which suits his personality and occupation before the apocalypse well.
Spoiler

he restricted himself, and waited until the MC is coming of age before doing s*xual stuffs, despite they're now in an apocalyptic era, without any law enforcement. 🥺 This is so sweet.

[collapse]
I really appreciate his patience. The interactions between their teammates are fun to read as well. All of them are working hard and very likable. They are like a big family. Although it seemed a bit unreal with how their moral are still so high even after the apocalypse, humans still have hope right? I wish other apocalypse novels can retain half of this team's humanity. Rating: 3/5- hehehe... this author’s brain holes are just wow...

I enjoyed this book for its absolutely nonsensical everything. Like when reading this book completely switch off all abilities to rationalise or even think. Basically read this book by smell or something coz your brain will not be able to process this logIcally.

This is the second book by this author that I’ve read and it’s clear to see that the author writes for fun and most certainly not to create literary masterpieces.

The plot of this story is plain and even... more>> quite boring. The leads are OP and nothing bad happens to them even though it’s an apocalypse. The villains are pathetic and pretty much every other character except the lead’s allies are weak and I’ll intentioned.

The women are written poorly, there’s NO romance or chemistry between the leads, they get together within the first ten chapters and that’s it. The golden finger the MC has is pretty much super unrealistic.

It’s like a C-grade horror movie but with words. It’s a really bad book, but it’s so bad it’s actually kinda good. Really good for laughs and lighthearted reading and it’s super quick,

I also love the translators, their little notes were fun.

Overall just read it for how high quality it’s nonsense is. It’s quite funny lol. <<less

I really enjoyed this, the characters are ruthless where necessarily but overall the story is pretty heartwarming. I really enjoyed how there were trustworthy people in charge for once, like the main characters aren't interesting in leading but the people they follow.. It doesn't turn into a dog blood situation and that was refreshing. Overall I liked it, although the plants vs zombies thing was never explained ??

Hmm. Its the best and maybe fair review I can give to the novel. I mean, I did enjoyed it despite the lack of few logic. If it wasn't for the translators doing their best to maybe, correct some facts that the author missed or maybe unaware of.

So, with this novel, what can I say? Hmm..

Its almost the same on some famous apocalypse novel. Definitely there is a lot of similarities with of course a lot of differences. Here are the some points that I can tackle that I observed... more>> while reading.

First, when it comes to power dynamic:

Personally, it wasn't fluidly explained by the author. All we know is that
Spoiler

The main MC is at higher level than most of the characters already and the rest has to obviously catch up to him especially the ML.

[collapse]
The author didnt make the effort to explain in great in-depth on how it works. If you have read a lot of Apocalypse novel with somehow the same trope when it comes to power logic, I guess, it wont be hard for you to understand but to those who are maybe, choosing this as their first novel. It would be confusing..

Second, the logic on what's going on during the apocalypse:

So, at this part, hmm.. What can I say, is since this is a short novel, I understand that the world building after the apocalypse will not be too detailed. I did appreciate the effort of the author to build an apocalypse world but there are stuffs that just makes you question the author. I mean, maybe the lack of research?

Third, the characters..

Hmm.. In this part, I am greatly feeling regrets for the author. If only the author utilizes the characters they created, I'm sure the team dynamics will be fun and can achieve the coolness of the group. It seems the author solely focus on the main characters. I mean, there is no problem with that but I just hope they wont forget the others. At least, I appreciate the fact that when it comes to action somehow, the author doesnt forget the other characters but I still feel that its lacking. I'm sad cause I can see that the other characters has great potential to make the novel fun and greatly interesting.
Spoiler

They even have a kid and pet cat.

[collapse]

Fourth, the plot..

Ahm. I'm definitely gotta spoil for this. Haha.
Spoiler

So, yeah. The rest of the novel focus on the team, helping the based they definitely chose to stay. There is not much fluff and seggs scenes with the main couple since the MC is still a minor. He is 17, I believe. At least, the ML waited for him to reach 18 before he did something but that part is only mention in passing but dont worry, it was obvious so the readers wont miss it for sure.

[collapse]
There are also some heavily problematic base as well, which also showed how humanity is being tested due to apocalypse which I admire the author for showing that side. At least, there is a part of the novel that shows the hardship of the apocalypse and showing how the humanity is constantly being tested.

Last but not the least, is the romance part..

Hmm.. It was too fast and to easy. I mean, for someone who heavily hates misunderstanding especially the ones that are nonsense, I'm relieved and happy but it was just too smooth and easy. There was no thrill or maybe the play on readers emotions.
Spoiler

I mean, I am happy that the author, did not forget the importance of past life but they just suddenly drop it all to the ML and obviously, the ML accepted it. The author lost the chance to feed the readers with so much dog food. Haha. So I feel like it was a regret for the author's part.

[collapse]

Overall, if you are reader who can turn off the ability to involve logic in every novel that you read then I guess, you can enjoy it. This novel is more of an easy and smooth sailing apocalypse novel. A very Mary Sue-esque rebirth for the MC for sure. To those who can't do it and cant fight the urge to point out every non-logical points then sadly, this novel is not for you but either way, you can try it out. See if you can read it maybe to pass time. Either way, its a short novel. So enjoy!^^, <<less

As far as other zombie apocalypse danmei goes, this is definitely one of the better ones. Not to say that this is perfect, but it's good and not too headache-enducing.

I think the most problematic thing for this story, and what most have a problem with, is the feasibility and logic in terms of numbers and world-building information. Things like population number and the amount of time needed for something to happen (like harvest times or research results) are extremely farfetched and illogical, to be honest, but when you get past... more>> those aspects and just suspend your disbelief, the story itself is pretty okay.

The story focuses on the perspective of MC and ML so if you're looking for heavy building of the other members of their newfound family or squad, you won't find it here. The MC is also not all-knowing or knowledgeable about the world, which I found to be a good relief from much too mary sue and gary tsu MCs. I like how it works well with his age, so his ignorance reflects that of his teen self, while also highlighting his sensibility and maturity from his previous life. The ML takes the lead most of the time, so you'll feel as if not everyone is getting their due acknowledgement, but it's not like any of their squad members are ambitious in the first place.

Romance is pretty light in this. I feel like the ML was too easily persuaded by MC's reveal, but then again, he was already attracted to him (just ignore how creepy being attracted to a teenager is lol). I might be heavily biased since established relationship romances are my thing, but I really liked how subtle everything was. So if you're looking for heavy heart flutters, set your expectations very low.

As for the plot, this one also isn't ambitious. They're not aiming to save the world or eradicate the virus. The ending may feel like it isn't exciting, but at the same time, it definitely wasn't too anticlimactic since the story's tone already hinted from the beginning that this isn't a save the world shounen-like action. I feel like the author could have put more detail in the epilogue and ending of the other characters especially our little bun and kitty, but at the very least, the ending gave an okay conclusion to the lives of the characters. <<less

This is a fun action/apocalypse/comedy/supernatural type of story that has a very small dash of BL in it. It's one of the ones where the MC has a space and plant powers, but it's unique in that it takes Plants VS Zombies very seriously--as in, literally, his ability is to weaponize plants specifically like in that game. The action is fun and keeps up the story's pace. Although there was some drama the MC experienced in the past, he doesn't go through much of it in this life. It's one... more>> of the more light-hearted apocalyptic series than one of the dramatic, darker ones. It's entertaining for an easy read. The writing is smooth and sassy, and the action is done fairly well.

The MC and his team are OP from the start with a massive personal space containing farmland and drinking water. Note that he doesn't actually seem to farm or harvest his fruits and veggies or even take care of his plants, which is a huge plot hole on its own. There are also many other plot holes regarding scientific explanations that are really... not as scientific as the author believes them to be. If it looks like a scientific explanation is happening, the readers should be prepared to turn off their brains for that paragraph. Things happen way too easily and conveniently for them, so there isn't that much suspense.

The author did an excellent job establishing the MC and ML’s characters early on. However, their depth and development since then has been miniscule. The other characters essentially exist as their powers and a single personality trait, and that's it, even if they've been in this series for dozens of chapters.

The setting could be fleshed out more, and the plot could be more detailed. Like I said before, there isn't much drama or depth, so this series kind of gives off a cheerful, fast-paced feeling rather than the despair of the end of the world. There are things that could clearly be improved, but it's still entertaining so far. It's peculiar that current chapters are about halfway through this series, and yet it feels like it's still at the beginning of the series. It'll be interesting to see how the author takes it from here. <<less

I appreciate the translators taking the time and hard work to translate this~

But this was 4/10 for me It took me forever to finish it. But once I start something I have to to finish it.

I kind of regret picking this up there is so much trouble just to even read it on the translation site but whatever. I heard about this from a lot of people. All the hype made me suspect it was going to be better than it was, and it wasn't, And I was disappointed.

The beginning... more>> was goodish it got me hooked. But the one thing I have to say about this novel as a whole, that it's so boring. Like I literally have to do something in the background, listening to music for me to keep Reading it.

The characters are 1 dimensional, even the main characters. It seems like there it isn't even main characters. There was no romance. Barely any hugs or kisses like I know it's Shonen ai, but still, it's ridiculous. And if they were going to try to play it off as, oh, he's younger, you could have made them older It's all to dictation of the Arthur lmao. And The face slapping was lame Not satisfying at all.

And what I hated most were the powers, like Its based off of video game or whatever. But there is so many plot holes didn't make sense, like I know most things don't make sense, but they just. They just made a nonsensical like I could even enjoy it in that universe cause no one else had strange powers as him. He's just super special, I guess. And they didn't even try to explain it in a way that made sense. And fiction, I know some people don't want to explain it, but in this sense, it was just throwing me off..

What I also really hated it was how goody two shoes the MC was. MC would give them 3, 000, 000 supplies to a base and he wouldn't get a lick of sh*t back from the other people. No position, no nucleus, no money, no free Rent, no food like it was ridiculous And I know you should do it for the good of humanity, or for whatever, because sometimes I hate other novels when the MC ask for a whole mountain when you get them like a piece of paper. But it seems like no author could find the perfect balance of giving and getting. O.o.

But yeah, the worst thing part about this was the characters. I wasn't too attached to anybody. I would say the actions is OK.

Note to future self, do not reread. <<less

Light-hearted zombie apocalypse theme.

Author must love plant vs. Zombie so she put it as protagonist halo.

Su RuiZhe reborn after being tortured to death in laboratory. Since rebirth he as a 17y/o boy who live in poverty all his life, started collecting thing according to his life experiences. How will he live this time ?

There's nothing to expect from this novel. It's just an easy read with nothing serious at all. The romance is sooooo subtle. It's not the focus of the story I guess. Author just focus on how awesome... more>> the main characters team are.

The story is not too long. You can try if you have time to burn and you don't want to invest any emotion while reading. <<less

A good light read! Not heavily dog blooded & although less than I had hoped for theres a healthy amount of dog food. The only thing I was unhappy with was the small child of MCs cousin, I feel bad for him cuz he was the same age as Dongdong & although his parents were scum the kid was lovable & innocent. We only got to see him in 1 or 2 chapters in the beginning, but it was always on my mind if he was still alive or really... more>> died like the scum in law said... What urks me is the fact that MC seemed to know that poor kid's fate from his past life but ultimately chose to just let it happen because according to him it was better to have a "painless" death from the fever than to live as a child in the zombie apocalypse... After they found Dongdong he decided to help him simply because it would be seen as unethical to everyone else to leave a 3-4 yr old kid to die, I believe there was a line where MC also thought Dongdong reminded him of his little nephew so he wanted to help him all the more... even though he abandon his nephew... Thats incredibly hypocritic of him not to mention who is he to be able to decide the life's & deaths of innocent others? Maybe he should of asked the kid if he wanted to live instead of making the decision to leave him to his miserable fate with those scum people. For the duration of humanity's entire exitance things like war, bloodshed & disease were commonplace, and it was brutal for children to live in such times but in the end that was their "normal" in those archaic ages, its normal for people to want to survive even during brutal times so for MC to think something ignorant like that just set me off cuz the lil nephew wasnt like a dying dog waiting to be put down! Sry for the rant I just can't stand this type of hypocrisy... ༼;´༎ຶ ۝ ༎ຶ༽ <<less

I really liked it at the beginning. The MC was cute and the ML has potential. But then when the Apocalypse started, it just seems like the protagonist's sense of presence can't be felt. Sometimes I even forgot about him to be honest. Which is really not my cup of tea. Dropped.

Was expecting this to be more of farming and featuring the spatial ability/pocket dimension, but the novel focuses mainly on MC and MLs journey in the apocalypse. I feel like this should be romantic subplot, because there isn't much romance (not romance focused), this is more of an adventure/survival novel. Though I was a little disappointed at the fact that from the title and the synopsis, it felt like it was a comedy novel and would be really funny, but it isn't. I would say, in fact, it is kinda... more>> bland, from the plot to the interactions, but somehow, the pacing, the stuff that happened in the novel kept me going on. I wouldn't say it's bad, but I feel like it's not the best zombi apocalypse novel. <<less

I would have gave it 4 stars if not for the ending. I was so not expecting for "THE END" sign.

And it got boring around 40 chapter but picked its pace again You gotta be patient around those chapter.

Last half hinted that author will give a reason for why the MC's ability is similar to the game "Plant vs Zombies" but Voila! there is none... Left me pretty unsatisfied...

The ROMANCE and FLUFF is seriously LACKING!

Side CP suddenly changed in middle.
