Yamagata Tatsumi and his family were traveling in their car when a wild truck smashed into their car. But wait! The MC wasn’t dead yet, his entire family was though. With his entire family dead and relatives abandoning him, the only one remaining by his side was his pet c*ckatiel. For a year he lived only with his pet, who had been with him since childhood. But finally, her lifespan reached its end and she died in his arms.

After his pet died, he lost his will to live and spent everyday meaninglessly. But since her death, every night he dreamed about a girl praying inside a room made of stone. 10 days passed and he reminiscences about the bird while playing with his acoustic guitar the song they used to sing together. Then suddenly the area around his bed began to shine, and the scenery around him changed.

He was still on his bed, but the room turned into the one from his dreams, and the girl was there. The girl was teary eyed and then jumped upon and embraced him. The girl, Holy Woman Calzedonia, smiled brightly and said “Finally… finally we meet again, master… I am your pet…. Chiiko!”

hlubkoj2020, just like Shizaki said.. It will not turn NTR, did watching too much drama traumatized you LOL. Well kidding aside..i know what u feel :D.. BUT!! If ur going to write a review, THINK FIRST before writing. Many people are sensitive in "NTR" even I (Before I read novel I read some reviews of it, and if I see like ur review most likely I will hesitate in reading that novel) .. Thats why I read in advance and read some spoilers.

This is a great novel with literally THE friendlist translator I have ever met. I've donated tons to him and almost converse with on a daily basis. No spoilers, but for those who enjoy novels with an op MC that learns to use his powers and a cute girl who's head over heels with the MC, this is the one for you. NOTE: There is NO ntr at all. In fact, this novel literally shoves a giant **** up NTR's bu*t and tells it to leave

This story has a 4 1/2 star opening before it settles into mediocrity. The relationship starts off with the MC being weak and the Female lead being strong, which was interesting. I was looking forward to the male MC being the damsel in distress for a change. Then the MC gets OP all of a sudden, killing the dynamic along with most of the things that made this novel unique.

Honestly, I don't see why this is so highly rated. There's almost nothing unique or new about this series, and plenty of other series do the premise much better yet have a lower score. The first two chapters were alright, but beyond that it doesn't stand out in any way. The writing of the author (and due to that the translation) is obviously not amazing, the plot had potential but even the main character really has nothing particularly likeable about him. He's the definition of a generic JP protagonist. The... more>> action isn't great and every element of the plot is almost cliché by this point as well. I'm rating it about 3/5 because it's so average but had a good beginning.

Spoiler

The powers of the main character and the whole premise of the series with the lady being typically useless without her boyfriend is so generic it almost hurts. This novel could have been really good if it stayed with focusing on the characters rather than the action, but even the action scene was boring to me. His girlfriend is in danger so he sacrifices himself and suddenly awakens the legendary super convenient power that perfectly fits his situation and is overpowered, yet the main character barely finishes off the bad guy without killing anyone. If this novel had had him awaken a power that killed the knight that would've been an acceptable route because it would lead to actual character development due to the shock of killing someone. I'm not at all expecting him to suddenly by a ruthless killer, but the story is just plain boring as is.

[collapse]

Overall, if you want a light-hearted tale of a generic JP MC and a relatively generic love interest in typical wish-fulfillment style this is for you. It might get better later on, since I've only finished about a volume and a half, but I think that's unlikely. Nothing wrong with wish fulfillment novels since a lot of people read for enjoyment, but personally I'm off to find a good Xianxia to read now instead of this. <<less

So, are you bored with cultivation, action, heroic and overbearing stuff? (._.) (l:) (.-.) (:l) (._.)

Then try this heartwarming, sugarcoating, and sweet slice of life with cherry on top! (´ぅω・`) The story and plot is original, except the "transported to another world" part. Some unexpected things might happen along the way, but I hope the MCs will overcome that. All in all, this story is good. So come and join us fellow readers.

A terribly mediocre story at best. The entire thing that a known relation would get to another world first and summon a person they like is nifty but not well used here. Sadly alas the relation is completely shat on by turning into a reason for there to be a pretty voluptuous girl to like the MC from day one cliche.

The story is one of those light little happens in way of action or drama. Sadly when something happens it’s kinda broken by exposition. The MC is also so F*CKING... more>> not special or outside in anyway to cause one to recall him... aka he is generic enough for people to related unless you’re like me and can’t relate at all because you have hobbies and interests... things he lacks. Not many chapters out but the story gives of the feeling that it will never have much in way of consequences. <<less

Translator review!

Plot - 8/10
Even though this is a fluffy novel, it has a well-thought-out plot, with rare holes. Though it uses the common formula of a beautiful girl summoning the average male, it goes off formula into originality by making the beautiful girl the MC's reincarnated pet and giving her an actual good reason to summon him, instead of the bullsh*t idea of summoning a random person and praying that they'll help you do XYZ just because. As mentioned before, the plot is unlike that of a normal shounen.... more>> This is not a "train -> get triggered by 'evil' deeds by enemy -> fight enemy -> win" loop, but a more-rooted-in-reality type novel with the MC as a fairly weak person, and with him actually losing to an enemy when he didn't make a plan beforehand.
Characters - 7/10
Tatsumi is the normal Japanese beta-male (?) MC. On rare occasions, he's actually proactive!
Calcedonia, the main heroine, is the cute and powerful heroine that you've always wanted. Also has big b**bs. There's lots of fanservice material from her. Aside from that, she's... quite normal. I can't say anything good about her character, at least in the sense of originality and character development, but neither can I say anything bad. This is pretty much the same for other characters in the novel.
Setting - 8/10
Has a fairly original one with little this-seems-out-of-place things in it. Notice the fairly in fairly original. As always, there's an adventurer guild and some races copied off of other stories.
Comedy - 7/10
Somewhat rare, but when it appears, it guarantees something more than a giggle.
Fluffiness - 10/10
Why else would you read this novel? The action may be intense, the plot may be interesting, but it's the fluffiness, sweetness, and cuteness that takes the cake! There's no harem and they love each other from the start. And they make that quite apparent. But in a good way! Or, perhaps, in a diabetes-inducing way. A type of diabetes that you could die for.
Overall - 9/10
Basically, this is a nice novel that makes you happy. No NTR, and Calcedonia clearly only wants Tatsumi. You can't not enjoy this. <<less

What to say in this WN isn't good and it isn't bad either. You can say it is fine. Not great nor good.

First, the story is so fluffy just like any other review says.

It is sweet so sweet. It felt like I'm eating a slice of cake rather than reading a slice of life.

There is some faulty in the plot "Logical" and "Psychological". For example.

Spoiler

Back then. When Calsey confronting the "devil" who posses her friend morga and then when she on the pinch. Tatsumi dive in to protect her within incoming sudden attack.

Which she could've avoid given her background how strong and veteran exorcist she is.

The author forcefully sealed her. Which is a Logical faulty? To create such a so-called "Drama" to touch the reader's heart. But not to me. I mean wtf bro why did you choose such a background for your heroine just for what? To forcefully sealed her Power, Wisdom, Experience? And now for "Psychological" faulty. When Tatsumi got sliced rolled on the ground.

Yep, I do understand her shock. But she is quite different. Normally in that kind of situation. Mental breakdown in that kind of moment. It should not be like that. There should be self-blame, Instant enrage to the one who cut/harm your love one after witnessing it within your own eyes. But the thing is it never happened. The author did mind to explain that because her head is so messed up that she only thinks of healing him. Which is s*upid reasoning for me? He doesn't even know how Psychological phenomenon works and dare to explain sh*ts and stuff like whispering it is norm.

It's disgusting, stop it. I felt like you were forcing me to drink. Please study how "Human" emotion works. Even just a little. When at least you have the base knowledge for it. Come back and read what you wrote.

[collapse]

But there must be some readers just like me.

Who is wondering. Why the hell he forgive that guy. And why the hell that women don't mind it. The answer to our question is probably this. I just remember it.

Click it if you want to know

Spoiler

If you were wondering why the author doesn't give a f*ck in s*xual assault. The answer is simple... Are you ready?

........

Because he is Japanese. Cultural differences. In the country called "Japan", There's a mol*st cases and r*pe cases that have been thrown out.

The reason behind those crap is because they don't want to spoil the future of a newbie prosecutor that will handle your case.

And a FACT they're avoiding the Increase of numbers on r*pe victim In their annual Statistics. What I mean is the "Human Rights" of the Women in the country called "Japan" are Low even if the number says the japan is safe for women. I'll tell you this. There is no such thing.

Japan is a country safe for Men but Women Nah... If you're s*upid and left your guard down you'll meet the shitters. Believe in me I read dozen of articles about it. And even conduct reviews when I went there. What did I get? Middle schooler to High schooler girl.

Ask them what they think to oldmen suddenly start to mol*st them. The answer is they... Only think that it is a prank. From just that explains everything and even when they tried to ask help what they'll get "IGNORED" and when you report to the police station you'll get the most favorite phrase of those idiots "IT CAN'T BE HELPED".

My main point is when I read this WN it felt like the author is subconsciously putting what is norm. In their country. Which I find s*upid but their base is already taking the root so. Police phrase "I CAN'T BE HELPED"

[collapse]

Now back to the review.

MC- he ain't beta MC thank goodness.

The reason why I gave 4 stars. It is because I don't dislike the fluffiness of this story. It should've been 3 but when I click 3 star my s*upid phone of mine indicate 4 so it "IT CAN'T BE HELPED"

BTW you might hate the Translation I recommend you to read the raw.

Or first, understand what kind of character they were when you read the free translate and when you get the gist of it. Use google translate and correct the grammar on your own in short DIY translation. It is a hassle but stress-free you wouldn't curse the TL time to time when you do that. <<less

I dropped this. I liked the beginning; the setting was fun and some of the characters were interesting, including the MC's starting point; he was OP but motivated and had goals.

Then he abandoned those goals for new ones. And then did it again. And then people started telling him what to do. And then eventually the previous courageous and OP protagonist ran from a monster that was supposed to be the most basic test for monster hunters.

It was at that point that I realized the truth: The author is good... more>> at world building and decent at making characters... but he is complete sh*t at actual writing. The plot, the dialogue, the character development, the pacing, the stakes... all of those things were done terribly. <<less

This is going to be my first serious review, so I'll apologize in advance.
I've read up to "Volume 6" (They used "第6章", which kind of means "chapter" but let's use "volume"), which would be up to chapter 110. Volume 7 (ends at Ch136) and volume 8 (ends at Ch159) aren't (fully) translated yet.

I would recommend ending this story with Volume 5, which ends at Ch85. Each volume has somewhat of an arc with sweet fluffy romance sprinkled in-between. volume 6 is a bit of a tricky one.

Here is a... more>> list of volumes; if you only want to read this story and decide to drop it, drop it at the end of a volume, which feels more satisfying:
>Volume 1 ends at Ch23
>Volume 2 ends at Ch38
>Volume 3 ends at Ch54
>Volume 4 ends at Ch69
>Volume 5 ends at Ch85
>Volume 6 ends at Ch110
>Volume 7 ends at Ch136
>Volume 8 ends at Ch169

TL;DR (If you don't want to read my opinions)
I recommend reading up to Ch85 and then considering the story as done. If you're still interested, you may read up to Ch110. The arc in 86-110 is quite good but the translation isn't. Dropping a novel after the end of an arc feels more satisfying than midway. The story is told in arcs and has "plot progression" in that sense. Fluffy romance is sprinkled in-between. Within the chapters but also full chapters that are just fluffy romance in themselves.

Good parts:
>The romance is incorporated into the story; they act awkwardly at first, with some guy landing in a different world with a beauty claiming to be his dead pet, but eventually grow closer to each other, well, especially in the first volume, which ended with the MC getting his classical isekai powers. (If you don't like this, I recommend "Jack of All Trades"; there, the MC gets OP as well but it feels like he earned it.)

>Each volume can be also "felt" like a volume. For better or worse, the translators did not specifically write out when a volume ends and when the new one begins but you clearly feel that a certain "story arc" has ended and a new one has begun, well, sometimes it's not fully clear because of the fluffy romance that is sprinkled in-between. No complaints though. (Come to think of it, maybe you could use 第x章 as arc x huh...)

>There is a slight cross-over with The Elf is a Freeloader as in:
Spoiler

The heroine lives with that MC until he dies and uses her tools to transfer herself into yet another world, which happens to be Tatsumi and Calcedonia's world. She becomes an active character there.

[collapse]

>No scenes that would make a fluffy romance lover (or moebuta?) like me feel annoyed. Specifically, this means:

Spoiler

No NTR; someone wrote this and other reviews referred to it. Calcedonia was never kidnapped/stolen, at least, up to volume 6. I dunno about the rest. Calcedonia got stripped once in the first volume/arc but you could argue that this was because...
a: some dude with no origins makes the girl who you knew for such a long time go crazy for him and
b: both men were possessed by devils that, according to the setting, amplify desire. So it wasn't just some disgusting guy going for her for no reason. The reason was given. Though, I understand that you could even argue that this is also too much of a trope. At least, it wasn't repeated.

Example (To emphasize my point)
Imagine this: You and your childhood friend know each other for ages. Both of you feel that there is some mutual romance. Suddenly, some random dude (aka, any isekai protagonist) appears and your beloved childhood friend is head over heels for him for no reason. Anyone would get mildly annoyed (or pissed) at this point. (And naturally, I think there are web novels with that kind of setting as well! Isekai is getting interesting by highlighting different aspects, like the mob characters.)

No weird misunderstandings that make the couple break apart, if such a moment happens, Calcedonia just pouts and Tatsumi manages to calm her down by patting her head or doing some "exercise" with her.

No indecisive protagonist who prolongs progression for no reason. Tatsumi does get engaged and later marries Calcedonia.

[collapse]

Bad parts:
>Translation, especially volume 6 (past Ch86). I won't claim it was machine translated but it did feel like it. (At least, people in the comments felt that way as well.)
>There is a change between translators, that would be fine because that means the story is still continuing to be translated but the issue is: They don't look at the previous translation! I think I even read someone in the translator notes that it was too much of an effort to read through the previous chapters. Consequence: Established names get butchered.
>There is a change from third person (which had been consistent up to Ch85) to first person. First I blamed the translators but I checked out the text in question.

Spoiler

Line 2 is kind of hard to interpret because it cannot be written in the third person. Usually, such a thought would be written in brackets. I didn't have the time to check out all the lines but if this started to happen past Ch85, you blame the author to some extent. Note that this doesn't just happen in the example above but also in the further chapters. As for reference, I suggest checking out the raws of "I Summoned the Devil to Grant Me a Wish, but I Married Her Instead Since She Was Adorable ~My New Devil Wife~" There, we have a lot of "thoughts" within the third-person storytelling, thoughts in first person. (Mainly FMC being super in love with the shouta MC who doesn't really feel like an MC.)

[collapse]

>Glaring issue, where excuses are difficult.

Spoiler

The established "Husband" was changed to "Sir." Naturally, this refers to 旦那様 (Danna-sama) which was how Calcedonia called Tatsumi after they got engaged. She sometimes also refers to him as "Master" (another way to express Danna-sama.) But in this case, "Master" was "ご主人様" (You know, how maids in a maid café call you), so in a translation setting, it makes sense to use "Husband" after they got engaged and "Master" before engagement. Either way, "Sir" is wrong, and context-wise, which wife calls her husband "Sir"? (English isn't my native language but I have a hard time believing that anyone does this...)

[collapse]

I hope my review was useful to someone. <<less

Honest opinion? Boring. Bland. Meh.

The most interesting thing is only in the beginning and that it's isekai, which quickly lost its charm. Story stagnates after the beginning. Doesn't feel like there's any real story.

Read a couple chapters more and you've pretty much read it all. Save yourself the time and don't bother reading on while expecting it to be better.

Some people think this will turn into Netorare. while its more of a reverse Netorare. People try to steal her from him and he defends her by any means necessary. Would be a 5 but... man the cliche cringe points. when the two of them are alone they don't really DO anything. it's more being REALLY flirty, fluff talk really.

and for those who dont know, Netorare - Act of stealing someone's loved one from them (NTR)

Meh...

This story is mediocre at best. It is too slice of lifey to keep me hooked on to it, it feels just bland because when something interesting actually happens it is resolved too fast and rest of the story is full of mundane things...

Not bad and not good either so it gets 3*s because even though I will now dropp it due to lack of interest, it is not bad story for fans of slice of life genre.

From my point of view most People here who 5 starred it is probably because it didn't turn into NTR. from the start I had High hopes for the story. The plot was interesting, but alas the story was ruined because the Author... Well it's obvious that he is inexperienced. the first few chapters will keep You hooked to the story but it gradually wears off. Unnecessary Fan Service, Super convenient op magic power that our generic MC awakened in order to save the damsel in distress (usual cliche... more>> route) . I wish he would take some more time to totally fall in love with his reincarnated pet... Action scenes are bland and predictable. All in all this story doesn't deserve 5 stars (even more so cause it had good materials and the plot had a good foundation but lost its way pretty quickly which was a big disappointment) . Maybe it's a story enjoyable to only 15 years old and below who don't like complicated plot lines but from a neutral point of view the writing style and pacing of the author lacks in many ways. (hope he can improve in the future and not give into Fan Servicing so easily) <<less

This novel has two aspects that are above average.

1. The relationship between the two characters is absolutely adorable. The grampa is pretty chill too.

2. The devils are a really interesting enemy.

... more>> Most of the other aspects like the side characters and world building are about average. They aren't notably terrible, but they aren't notably great either. The OP protagonist is pretty OP, but he's not that bad as far as OP protagonists go.

The current arc, the guild arc, is pretty boring since it's the same old cliches for the most part, which is why this review is 3 stars instead of 4. Hopefully, it can get better. <<less
