Gu Lu was a Paleontologist. He was very glad to reborn as a small dinosaur.

But the terrible thing was that he turned into a Triceratops cub inside a nest of Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Tyrannosaurus Rex was the strongest carnivore known in the history of the Earth, also called the “Imperial Species”.

Triceratops was an herbivorous dinosaur and the staple food of Tyrannosaurus Rex.

But fortunately, he had a very doting Tyrannosaurus Rex “Dad” called Mungo, who named him Gulu.

Gulu thought that he could only be a salted fish Triceratops holding Tyrannosaurus Rex’s golden thigh in his life.

Unexpectedly, he helped the Triceratopses escape a big glacier, Pterosaurs flying away from the volcanic sea, and the Sea King Gliodon fleeing from the super storm…

He became the “King of Dinosaurs” when he was not careful and was honored as “King Gulu” by the dinosaurs.

Gulu: Dad, this name you gave me is not domineering or cool at all!

Mungo: Gulu, lovely.

It's a really good story, very enjoyable.

My only issue with it is that the main character has mother issues and is sexists. He never does something to another character but his thoughts makes it very very clear. It's fits with his character background but I don't think it's intentional, but more likely due to a male author. Refrase, I'm 99% sure it's a male author.

It's quite a bummer, but as it's a BL without a female lead, it can be ignored. At chapter 59 it has only been three times... more>> it's really bothered me a lot. There were a few small moments as well but most people wouldn't even notice them.

I would still recommend you read it, as it's a really unique and fun story, but just be aware you might be a bit triggered by the sexist mindset sometimes. Still, as said, pretty easy to ignore.

The translation quality is super great, especially for MTL, you can feel that the translator put in a lot of effort to make it accurate and readable. Its better than most native translators, definitely 5 stars in that aspect, it almost made me give this story 4 stars. So kudos to the translator, I apologize if my review is a bit negative.

Also:

Something other reviewers have brought up is the dinosaur facts. I don't think they are lacking at all considering this is a fantasy BL novel that takes place somehow that isn't even earth. Instead I find them surprisingly accurate. The author obviously isn't an expert and he had to fill in the blanks were even experts doesn't know with fantasy. So I don't think you should expect an educational research paper, what you will be taught is different dinosaurs species and their appearance (translator added pictures), as for the rest, take it with a bit of salt and just think of this as a fantasy novel in another world, because that is what it is. <<less

The story is fun, adventure with a very human vision about feeling empathy for other people or in that case other dinosaurs and having more stronger and lasting relationships.

I'm not here to say that this is perfect or deservea 5 star... but the people calling this stuid because of logic and stuff doesn't use their brain either and if thats why they are giving this 2 star then people ignore them.

This is literally a novel about talking dinosaurs so what did you expect? Its supposed to be cute and fun... its not a textbook that will help you in school.

I'm not a big fan of the plot but this was a fun read.

This is perhaps one of the best cute and fluffy shounen ai themed stories but centralising on an adorable Triceratop by the name of Gulu. The style of story telling is very interesting especially the detailed descriptions of the dinosaurs here. Its like recounting of the past in National Geographic style! I totally learned a lot from there! The illustrations provided by translator did indeed help a lot, which was plus point too. And yes, there is gore in the story too. Well, what do you expect when meeting carnivorous... more>> dinosaurs?

Now, in terms of characters, there's so much growth in terms of character development, from the MC (Gulu) to ML (Mungo) which is the T-rex down to the main supporting characters especially Pado and the Triceratops and of course the T-rex from Mungo's side like Gaya (Gulu's adopted mom) and siblings. Even other dinosaur species were very interesting like Nassau of the Pterosaurs and even the sea dinosaurs like Beibei of the Pliosaur species. Aside from that, the vary types of characters had vivid portrayal that really affected me like Tata and Heiwu/Kangkang were very interesting to take note of. The author has good writing styles in portraying characters like Tata and Heiwu.

I like the vivid scenes and narratives told by author. Aside from being informative, the characters somehow made it relevant. Just to note some, the roles of herbivores and carnivores have taken a different turn when Gulu was raised by the T-rex. Gaya's inability to let go of the reality makes her a wonderful idea of a mother to us readers, but on the other hand, to the T-rex species, its abhorring to be mother of a herbivore dinosaur. That duality is appreciative.

One downside I noticed is how the image and idea of feminism was undermined. Given that maternal theme was well represented by characters like Gaya and Babana, there's also harsh reality of mother figure like Ulam which I conceded, however, my issue was more on the role of females in the story that I find was grossly undermined. Granted its a shounen ai genre, but I find the author seemed repulsive of heteros*xual relations - not counting Pado and Babana which of different premise. If the author have approached it in a more objective way, then it would've been justified rather than dismissing female characters as of such which I find rather demeaning. I have no issues with reading shounen ai and I thoroughly enjoyed Gulu and Mungo's relationship, its just that this is the balance which the author lacked.

I also appreciate the time and effort the translator have done for this story. I wholly enjoyed the journey of Gulu trying to adapt the different lifestyle and finding acceptance in the beast world. The underlying theme of acceptance, inclusivity, knowledge, perseverance, trust and kindness is pronounced throughout. <<less

Fun to read, but it's very dense so reading does take a long time.. I'm exhausted just going through the first 100 chapters, honestly had to take breaks like I'm doing a cross-country...

There are moments where there's lulls and I do feel bored, but there are also long arcs. So once you're in the lulls between them, you're like ok maybe I can drop. But once you're in an arc, you feel compelled to finish...

I'd probably recommend having alot of time before starting to read, and if you want to... more>> commit to reading - possibly take care of your health as well. Great job @/ the translator!! Really appreciate the upfront outline of what to expect before I jumped into the story. My expectations were set accordingly, and they're doing an excellent job of sourcing the dinosaurs so we get the picture as we read as well (+ clarifying some keypoints that are messed up) <<less
