Fate, a gatekeeper who had been working for the castle, leads a troublesome life.

Constant hunger attacks triggered by a power forced upon him at birth. A useless skill, it only serves to make him hungrier; however, unbeknownst to him, it has a concealed ability.

One day, having killed a thief sneaking into the castle, he finally noticed its true power.

A skill that feeds upon the very soul of the subjects he kills, depriving them of all their powers. Finally, his constant hunger had been satiated for the first time.

With just that, the man who had been treated like a pile of tr*sh slowly started raising his head. Having exceeded the concept of levels, he strikes fear with his terror-like strength, earning him the nickname…

The premise was good, it had a good potential but as usual, badly executed.

The mix of game elements in the actual world was actually done well at first, but it slowly deteriorated, the power levels will make you wonder if the author even thought of anything other than "huge numbers".

It's a two step forward, one step back. The MC gets strong with his skill, but it's also threatening to take over his sanity. His sword takes all the stats he gained in order to power up, or uses up a... more>> huge percentage of his stats to execute a powerful attack.

Then the author fancies huge numbers too much that lvl100+ has millions of stat points.
Spoiler

Later on, he got 999 million stat points just to get facerolled by "Area E" opponents who are beyond that limitation, just to give an example, Area E people are at the level of "Heavenly Dragon" or beyond, which is a living natural disaster.

[collapse]

You would think that opponents/people beyond the 999 million stats (Area E) would be rare, but they end up popping out left and right later on. What is this? A sword and magic fantasy novel or a broken Dragon Ball rip-off?

It's clear that the author didn't plan out the power levels and had no choice but to make more OP enemies while giving his MC a crippling handicap just so there'll be "suspense". <<less

This Novel were good at fresh start then it goes down hill at chapter 53. The MC was bound by his duty as guard with a harsh treatment from his noble seniors until he meet the person (A) who change his daily life when he was duty on as guard and later been hired as the person (A) servant. Then he buys an op weapon then register becoming adventurer secretly from person (A) presence. Yet, as story flows he meets different people when he's going to a... more>> journey on accepting quest. At one time, (Which occurred on chapter 53) a certain person who share a similar fighting skill and the first companion he had, were offering an invitation on visiting a certain place that the MC had no know about except he heard it form the rumors. Sadly, He decline and said "Sorry, I have to go back, there is somebody I need to protect".

WHAT IN THE WORLD IS THIS GUY SAYING ?! Does he know that he is not necessary obliged to become a guard/servant forever ? After he did so much during his time as adventure he just refuse to visit a certain location which perhaps discover something new in his life time ? He SHOULD HAVE ACCEPT THE INVITATION but a shameful disappointing decision, he DECLINE ! And returning to a hopeless servant again.

what a shame and waste of my reading time. <<less

The combat is repetitive and boring, yet the novel focuses on it. It's practically the same fight every time. (A mob for the MC to power up off of followed by a boss.)

The romance is going nowhere.

The mystery (of the world) is going nowhere.

The MC doesn't develop outside becoming skilled in combat, and other characters aren't focused on at all.

It's an interesting concept that fails to be actualized.

"The One that Exceeds The Concept of Levels"
Meanwhile his abilities are still about leveling, numerical stats and getting exp.

Well, authors are sure to fail at writing GAME novels for GAMERS, so why would we expect them to write, umm, non-game game novel?

Well personally for me, I just gonna say it's an intersting novel I don't know about other though.

Just read it if you think it's interesting and it suit your guys, on other hand if you don't like it then don't read it there is not only one novel like this nor there is only this one novel in the entire world where you must read this novel no matter what there are other too.

And another thing if you think the translation is not good enough the give the translator some... more>> advice, offer him help, or translate it yourself if you think you are better at it. It not a good thing to do honestly, that kind of thing just making the translator depressed and stop translation for you know what reason, and the other that waiting for the next chapter gonna feel down too.

After all what is being reviewed is the novel not the translator. If you don't like this kind of story the look at the tags, the genre that is the reason there is tag and genre it's not just an decoration put to make the page better.

- Btw I don't really know how not to put no-rating for now like DocB as I'm doing it from phone and just want to put some of my opinion here.

- Well for this novel so far I think it's good, as I just finish reading several long chap novel. <<less

tr*sh, the author doesn't have a f*cking idea of what he is doing, it can clearly be saw that the author doesn't have anything planned but write what is passing by his head, sadly the author isn't a genius so he can't write a potable plot and characters like this. The MC is one of the most pathetic MC ever created, the female lead is a 1D character with no personality, just the annoying, justice loving, overnice girl who thinks that she knows better than anyone else and the MC... more>> is so wiped that's make the FL even more hateful, seriously it's painful to read.

The power system is utter tr*sh and doesn't make any sense, there are the Holy Knight and the others and that's it, so far we have seen nooby Holy Knight with stats at 2.000.000 then an anciet very well known HK with the title of sword saint and believed very strong with stats at 3.000.000 then random tr*sh canon fodder HK with stats way higher than the sword saint but then because the sword saint fought alongside with the MC and somewhat formed a bond he broke his limits by fighting literaly tr*sh mob monsters and entered in the Area D stats above 999.000.000, it's completely ridiculous and doesn't make any sense and of course when the MC broke into Area D that is supposely very hard to do and very few even reach this level then suddenly Area D level characters and monster pop everywhere as if Area D was very easy to reach and was not a big deal...

Oh, and the MC constantly lose his stats by feeding it to his sword, so he constantly return at his stats from the chapter 1, stats of 100... and if this wasn't enough he constantly sacrifice his stats to deliver a powerful attack.

Actually the only good thing in this novel is the character of Myne, it's the only reason why I read so many chapters of this novel but the author had the good idea to make her disappear around the chapter 100 but instead to make the MC becoming stronger and chase after her (she was kinda forced to leave with an another guy who clearly don't want her good in order to save the MC because he was to weak to even move in the presence of the guy), the story became a very badly written romantic slice-of-life comedy with the annoying 1D female lead.

The author removed the only selling point of his novel for probably a lot of chapters and focused on bad and uninteresting plot and characters, well if at least the MC would make the FL's mother his girl it could became somewhat interesting but it probably won't happen even if she always tease him and even joke with him that he want the daughter and the mother, well we can dream... <<less

I really wanted to like it.

But the number system was ridiculous.

Spoiler

From a pure mechanics standpoint.... stat points are not additive.

You can't say that 10 level 2's would be equivalent to 1 level 20.

But that's what the author tries to do with his 'purely additive' nonsense.

[collapse]

The MC is also dumb......

Glutton berserker is a novel that had a lot of its potential -lost. It starts out as a dark story. An underdog loses his father, his home, and his human rights. Then by chance, a girl keeps him because ... more>>

. Then he starts to level up.

He defeats bosses and saves the day. Saves the girl and, done.

The climax of every volume was lacking and the MC is very frustrating.

If you don't have anything to read, this will do. But if you don't want to waste your time spending hours on a low novel, find something else. <<less

While the translations and grammar were a bit, meh, the overall idea was easy enough to understand. One can muddle through it.

Yet another MC that had a sh*t life and was used/abused by the powerful becomes super OP at blazing fast speeds. Predictable to a fault, nonsensical in it's pacing and interactions, all the while being so contrived I hurt just reading it.

At some point I started making a game of seeing how many tropes the author was going to put in here, lets just say he almost hit triple... more>> digits and leave it at that. I kind of got the vague notion that the author saw Seven Deadly Sins anime and brainstormed this out, I'd kind of like to know what drugs he was on at that time too.

Honestly, I don't even feel like writing how bad most of this actually was, even so, I did read just about everything available to it so perhaps I was hooked enough to say it wasn't the worst thing I've ever read. Certainly dropped plenty of other titles way before the 10 chapter mark, but that's not exactly a glowing review now is it. <<less

First of all, don't trust the low rating reviews. I'm not specifically saying to not trust all of them but please note on what chapters they were on when they review it. I'm only reviewing this because of how much unfair treatment it has been getting from the low rating reviews.

On the surface this story seems terrible but as I read on, I realized it ain't that great but not that terrible either. It's okay at the very LEAST. This story isn't exceptional nor is it a masterpiece. It's just... more>> good, no more no less. I have gone through the reviews and 95% of the ones who gave it a low rating are those who had only scratch the surface. I can assure you this story gets better later on.

If you came to this story to expect Revenge p*rn like Nidome no Yuusha or Dungeon Seeker and the likes, you came to the wrong place then. This is not a dark fantasy series so rest assured for those who can't handle dark elements. There's barely any romance but I'm not going to complain about it. Although, with the latest chapters, it has been hinting on a harem route.

I especially liked how the MC found his powers. Nothing too exaggerating nor profound and neither does it need to be. MC is OP but not till the point that it's absurd.

Overall, it is a fun read. Nothing too grand. The plot is easy to understand. The characters are likeable. The writing is okay. The grammar can't be blamed since it's not even an official translation. (I like how people call the author an amateur or terrible for having poor grammar. Lol, nice logic these peoples have) It is not a masterpiece but it does not need to be. Not everything needs to be a masterpiece. I have a lot of complains about this story and its plot holes but then again, the same goes for the other hundreds of story/fictional work out there. <<less

First of all, the translation from Nega Translation is passable. It's very simple and the prose doesn't exactly flow well but it's certainly readable and their work is appreciated.

On the story itself, it's pretty entertaining albeit very simple itself and full of cliches. Character that goes from loser to overpowered, talking sword, a love interest out of his league, skill steal ability and the seven deadly sins. All checked. Overall, the story doesn't offer much in the way of new ideas or twists on old favorites. It's just more of... more>> the same.

Beyond the simplicity, the story moves very quickly. It largely moves from one fight-scene to another with little build-up, character interaction or growth. It's a very superficial story. There's not much depth there. But that's not the worst thing. Not everything needs to be complex. If you are interested in a quick-read with good entertainment value and little need to invest much though into, it's just fine. The illustrations available are very nice and certainly make the story seem cooler than it actually is. <<less

The premise is interesting but there is almost no world building so we still have no real context for the MC's abilities, there is a huge amount of convenient coincidences, and the romance is just awful. Maybe it gets better from here.

This still has around 14 chapters by the time I wrote this, so I won't be rating it, but here's what I think:
Grammar: 4/5
... more>>
Spoiler

Fairly Nice, Only minimal grammatical errors

[collapse]
Story: 5/5
Spoiler

The concept of 'Ability Steal' isn't new to me, and I see this everywhere (not literally tho) and the concept of the story isn't original. But the new thing to me was that Greed (The black sword) can change form by consuming Fate's Power, restarting to the time when they first met. Not making Fate very OP like most of the MC's with ability steal power. That enough balances everything out.

[collapse]
Plot:3/5
Spoiler

Its mostly full of killing, some story with Roxy, and revenge as far as I know

I didn't wanna rate it this low but, It really is cliche, while I don't hate cliche stuff that much, the level shown here bores me. It's average at best, and the wishful way that the plot is going doesn't click with me either.

Concept was pretty good. But the story is tr*sh. So many things could be fixed yet the author is so dumb and doesn't know what to do. You could have made it so that MC can talk with Greed telepathically, yet you just had to make him talk like an insane mental patient. MC almost never had revenge. People tries to kill him but he always let them go. Too pathetic. He's just a side character. Not an MC at all. He's also extremely s*upid. Not what an average mentally... more>> healthy human would do. <<less

Between the atrocious grammar and clunky dialogue I almost can't stand it. There aren't many novels that can actually make me annoyed just by the look of the sentence structure (along with poor grammar and an absolute butchering of tenses at least couple times per chapter), yet here we are. I'll keep reading to check out the story, but this translation quality is not the greatest.

I can't wait for the chapter the MC starts thinking for himself instead of being spoonfed thoughts by his sword, but that might be a... more>> vain wish. <<less

Started out with a very weak MC and then him getting a super OP Skill, and his journey to get as OP as his skill will let him. Since it's a solitary journey, his shape-changing/multi-skilled sword provides some much needed conversation and humor. MC gets stronger, makes the sword stronger, gets even stronger and so on. Till the Gallia Arc, the story remained interesting, cliche but interesting.

Once the MC entered the super-powered OP zone or the so-called Area-E, one would think that MC would change pattern and fight smartly, but... more>> suddenly he's encountering even more OP enemies with their broken stats. After some 70 chapters, story is getting monotonous with same situations/jokes/antagonists etc... <<less

Was good far a while. Story moved at a reasonable pace, made some sense and was an interesting adventure. Around where I dropped it I just felt the story was being forced. All the sudden everything is stronger than him and the arbitrarily simple explination was unfulfilling. This made some of the previous plot seem seem like an irrelevant wast of time. I was actually looking forward to his next level opponent but this generic development killed it for me.

Was a decently good story up to about chapter 80 or... more>> so, after that I was cringing so much at how bad it got I dropped it due to turning into a pile of hot garbage. <<less

This web novel is quite interesting to read because of its characters especially the protagonist Fate Graphite. The protagonist don't start as strong like all fantasy novels but he stumble on a lucky discovery of his so called "worthless" skill he inherit from his father were a blessing in disguise. He grew stronger as continue his journey. He is quite a simple person who doesn't forget the people who he indebt to.

The story is quite remarkable due to elements of the novel and its setting. I think it deserves the... more>> manga adaptation due its wonderful writing. <<less
