Several hundred thousand players are trapped in a gritty zombie apocalypse survival game just after game launch. There are hints that deaths in the game might be serving some other terrible purpose in the background of reality…

The main character, Liu Gan, is a quadruple amputee in real life. A quirk in the server code recognized his prosthetic limbs as ‘real limbs’ in game, giving him ‘normal’ arms and legs that nonetheless have the strength and power of steel limbs, and thus far more power than a normal player. With this minor cheat helping him survive the early stages of the game, Liu Gan sets out to find out what exactly is going on, and to endure as long as he can.

The early chapters is confusing, but it should be clearer in the future chapters. Has a lot of potential, mainly because it's a zombie novel. I'm expecting this to be a good read when there are more chapters~

It's a decent zombie story, although it's really weird for it to start off as a VR storyline but oh well. The story focuses on survival and people die when they are killed so yea everything is nice.

The only problem is MC. MC is pretty much an evil guy that does what he does for the sake of survival. The only point that is different in him compared to typical villain of apocalypse world is that he ain't raping any woman that he finds but other than that... killing in... more>> cold blood, abandoning others to save his skin and using them as cannon fodder... you name it he did it.

Now! I won't say that I dislike such MC, no for a brutal storyline and world like this, MC like this is extremely competent! Having competent MC who knows what's need to be done is always nice, and over all it's not like he goes around hunting for people and as long as someone doesn't cross him he won't do anything to them either. The problem comes however from his introduction.

MC at the beginning of the story is a normal person (Well with his limbs missing but generally his mind is that of a normal guy)... still despite this introduction by the chapter 40 he is already what I described, the extreme survivalist who will do everything that is necessary for survival, including killing other people without blinking. Seeing other people die doesn't make him feel a thing either. Worse off all, MC tries to explain it by saying that "he has been through a lot"... f*ck NO! The story just started and you had but single zombie encounter! In which world is it enough for a normal person to suddenally turn into a merciless Rambo!!! MC's character shift is so big that it's mind-blowing! His premise is that of a normal rich kid but in less than ten chapters he turns into a war veteran with 20 years of experience in killing people!!!! It really makes no sense! If the story took few months for MC to develop into the cold hearted badass then it would be great story but here it's really goes from zero to hero within a second.

Well I ended up reaching chaper 77 and I must say that while I could ignore the MC's "character development" there is simply too many issues with this novel be it it's MC or the plot. Simply put it not only there are many issues but worse of all the story is really boring. <<less

Currently just finished reading up to what is published. Everyone who says the MC is to evil clearly hasn't read into this manga enough. He cares very deeply about certain things and goes against everything that says "you'll probably die if you try to save them." He has a very clear moral status that's very obvious to follow. Now obviously he's not your average shounen protagonist. If your here for a happy story then leave. The story is hard. Lots of suffering, lots of death, lots of tears if you... more>> get attached to certain characters.

Overall This story is great. The writing is well done, the translations, while they do have very minor errors here and there there is nothing large enough to really bother the reading experience, and the characters. Each of the main characters could be their own MC in another manga. There are just so many good ones its incredible. 5/5 10/10 100/100. Just don't expect some rom com harem romance where there is no mistake that can't be overcome with the power of friendship and upskirts. <<less

In my opinion this was an O.K. read, I think this for the following reasons:

- Bad timing at reading it (the Walking Dead T.V. Series is still fresh in my head so kind of tired of that theme)
- Used the same concept as Sword Art Online (Die in the game, you die in real life... keep in mind I only read up to chapter 21 so that could change maybe)
- Levels and zombies make for an interesting mix (that is praise) but so far there is... more>> nothing else but fight them and survive... I don't see a goal. (Keep in mind only read up to chapter 21 so that could also change)
- There are a few instances were ideas from the MC are repeated, not sure if that is really noticeable for anyone else but I found it kind of annoying.
+ I enjoy the MC 'toss these people under the bus' attitude.
+ The way the game world is set up so that it acts just like a real game would is really cool. (If you don't understand then in the beginning MC faces 1 enemy after defeating it and Not leaving more enemy then boss and then when stuck on billboard not moving needing help the help is provided, very game-like in my opinion)

This novel has been dropped!

It's an incredibly multidimensional survival novel! The protagonist has a reason for why he is the way he is, cold, calculating, and seemingly self-centred. He does indeed prioritise his safety, and benefits above all else. This means that he isn't the typical hero. Anti-hero! Like? Don't like?

Romance. Let's just say that his main love interest is an android. The android I have to say is probably the greatest love interest I've seen in a male protagonist wuxia! It's slow burn though, hundred chapters to hold hands...300... more>> to cement the relationship ^^.

The world. It's a game but it's not a game. Aliens are involved - spooky stuff. And corporations as always have been getting their hands dirty - human experimentation? Yup!

Would highly recommend! <<less

Dropped it since c17, rated 3.

However, please note that my valuation for this one is very subjective. I’m not a fan of zombies, but interested in reading The Trembling World because of the quadriplegic MC that was said to gain his movement inside the game. However, after reading it, I found out that his character is... well, not to my taste. I’m not really interested in reading about self-centered MC who only cared about saving his own ass and not even gave appropriate warning to fellow victims. Additionally, the author’s... more>> narrative left much to be desired. And so, it was unable to hook me up.

I couldn’t say much about the plot because it’s still early days. Nevertheless, if you are a fan of zombies and post-apocalyptic stories or novels with game elements, then you will probably interested in this one. <<less

Will to all who said that he is "evil, " he isn't an evil MC, and obviously, you never read reverend insanity or any evil MC novel. He might be a ruthless MC but not an evil one.

What annoys me here is that the author keeps saying that the MC is evil and whatnot, but he didn't do anything evil he is actually good-hearted, tho a ruthless one. He doesn't kill for no reason. He helped many for no reason, and he kept his promises. He rescued his comrade. He... more>> didn't even leave them tho the author keeps on saying that he would leave if he needed to.

--------------------------------

"Who the hell throws an axe at the head of someone who only stole a bottle of water (At the EARLY stages of the story) ? Who the hell trades off a woman (for r*pe) just to survive (At the EARLY stages of the story) ? Who the hell categorizes other people as 'Cannon Fodder' (At the EARLY stages of the story) ?"

someone commented this, so let me go on this one by one

"Who the hell throws an axe at the head of someone who only stole a bottle of water (At the EARLY stages of the story) ?"

many would will if they aren't s*upid taking water or food would get them killed, and other than that face, he made another trouble for them, and the MC let him go so yep

"Who the hell trades off a woman (for r*pe) just to survive (At the EARLY stages of the story) ?"

many would do that tho I am not sure if you read until then, but he didn't actually do that

"Who the hell categorizes other people as 'Cannon Fodder' (At the EARLY stages of the story) ?"

What do you want to do if he thinks you are a Cannon Fodder? Are you sad that he didn't value you or? + He didn't sacrifice anyone just because, and even if he did, it's the apocalypse.

"If you cut 75% of the author's rambling, you'll still be able to understand the story because it's just a bunch of repetitions." he also commented that

which I actually agree with the novel is kind of repetitive

---------------------

another one commented :

"First the MC is too much of a d*ck that only cares for his own ass

besides making dumb decisions like runing away from zombies by climbing a pole he could only survive if he grow wings and fly or using his plot armor.

The side characters are all left to die by the MC since he didn`t found use on them even if they are decent people like a fatty and a beautiful girl, sure they mess up a little but nothing that desarves him leaving them and he doing that meant there deaths or becaming somebody plaything.

Later he took a few as*hole players as pawns but you just don`t care about them at all since they are just a bunch of rapists while the useless fatty and the beautiful girl that he left were abandoned and that makes you care even less.""

1. It is ok to care about yourself. Not everybody needs to be a hero and save the Damsel in Distress
2. I am not sure if you know, but if you can climb up, you can also climb down. You don't need wings and going to the pole was the best choice with an army of zombies under him

The 3+4 points are the same point as the first is that the MC needs to be a hero and save them. You know he isn't their father. Why do you think he is responsible for them?

i am not saying the novel is great but don't hate it because the MC is a little ruthless <<less

I am the type of reader who likes novels like [Solo Leveling/OG/LMLS/Seol's Necromancer/DP/EYEM/ROTWRTW, etc], so if you read these types of novels you will understand that I do not like chapters that speak of how to obtain the DAO [Desolate Era] and I do not like novels that have OP MC as soon as it starts, and I like growth-type MCs like Grid.

I hate horror stuff, like movies or manga or anything, however after reading this novel and arriving at chapter 131 in 2 days, I have to say, I... more>> am attracted to it.

The first 20 chapters are boring as hell, literally
Spoiler

MC trapped above a billboard for like a day with a storm going on with lightning and stuff

[collapse]
, however, that's not a problem, because literally if that's boring, then you didn't read in my humble opinion the shittiest novel (Divine Throne of Primordial Blood) , dropped after chapter 150, no visible growth, dependent on an AI, won't say anymore due to spoilers.

Let's talk about the people who say that the MC is so sh*t because he's not sympathetic and even cold-hearted, however, if you yourself were to be trapped in a world with a zombie apocalypse, were even people would kill you just for a small bottle of water that doesn't even cost 1$ in real life, would you be a Saint and be kind to everyone you meet so that they would use you and then stab you in the back when you think they are your friends? For me, no thanks.

He doesn't treat people badly, he just treats them realistically, for example, why would I bring a dead weight with me? Why would I bring someone whom even after teaching them how to kill a zombie they wouldn't have the basic common sense to dodge an armless zombie rushing towards them and just freezes on the spot? And if you meet a kid whos literally trapped within a cage that holds god damn bears, would you be suspicious or be helpful towards the kid?

That's the kind of MC he is, cautious, not a bastard because when he met good people he thought about how to bring them with him, not to dump them somewhere, but actually travel with them because he doesn't want to be lonely or even with backstabbers.

Those are the good sides, the bad sides were actually not a lot, some vocab mistakes that appear every 15 chapters or so, so that's not a down-side for a lot of people, low-pace of translation, new characters don't appear much, and that's it for me.

So you better just read it and judge yourself. <<less

Would I recommend this novel to others? Yes, but only if they can take things with a grain of salt. Reader discretion is advised, opinions will vastly differ. A significant word of caution : You're either going to absolutely abhor the MC and thus find it a chore to read, or you are going to enjoy the atmosphere and the MC's personality a lot. There is no in-between.

Edit as of 9/14/17

The MC is a logically driven individual who follows 'survival of the fittest' to the extreme -- usually. How he... more>> goes about this is downright offensive and brutal -- again, usually. But he's not a nut-job that does things because he has the power to do so. <<less

-Dropped at Chapter 333-

-the MC has no goal... he didn't want to go back to real world at first & then he seem to have changed his mind but not really o_O

-MC personality: At first he was solo & doing everything to survive & he dropped any thing or anyone that doesn't have a value to help... but then suddenly he decided to start saving people left & right & power leveling everyone he meet & risking his life & his waifu life for others o_O like WTF

-Risking & having... more>> his waifu die to save someone & the reason to do so is because "the MC doesn't want to lose him since he power leveled him"... WTF the MC power leveled like 100 people or more.. if he want to lvl someone to the same lvl as that guy it would take days or at most a week... so sacrificing his wifu & almost himself as well for someone so expandable is just s*upid to say the least...

-The stalker... so the stalker is a girl from real world who was in love with MC & after his accident she joined the game (in beta mode before other can join) & she started Human experiments with the goal to create a drug or something to make the MC limbs grow back.. she used NPC & Players... she met MC & told him all this & MC was like ok but I don't love & I have a waifu so ok & she said ok bye & then our MC decided to hold his waifu hands in front of her... next chapter waifu went missing... for 300 chapters pretty much he never showed emotion to waifu or hold her hand (i think he held her hand once before) but now in front of his stalker that literary throw away her humanity to save him (human experiment & she even modified her body to his preference), he decided to f*cking start display his affection to waifu.. <<less

I honestly haven’t read anything about this story other than mikleo’s review and the synopsis. The reason for me reviewing right now is to argue against mikleo’s review.

First of all (not really part of the argument and rather just me nitpicking), why so much vulgar language? There is no need for it, everything you had wrote could be rewritten to sound more scholarly or sophisticated without the use of profanity.

Secondly, while I do think you provided some good evidence, it falls short. I do agree with your statement that those... more>> situations could be handled in a better way because all situations, depending on the person, can be handled differently. But you, the reader, have time to think and are not put “on the spot” you have the ability of rational judgement that I suppose the MC had no time for. Even then, based off of your review, the MC was right to have done what he did. While they may have not been the right things to do per say, they were still logical thoughts backed by some form of thinking.

Finally, your argument that no one else would have done what the MC did is entirely false. Think about it, we live in a world where people have access to most everything with the help of the internet and the news, so why is it that you’d say that no one else would do such a thing? Just browsing through recent news stories you’d be able to find at least a couple hundred maybe a thousand people that would be inclined to such dubious actions. The world is not all sunshine and sparkles, people are crazy, mentally unstable, narcissistic, as well as lacking empathy for their fellow men and women. Take me for example, I’d say I’m not a very empathetic person, for a bit of context; I find that videos depicting/showcasing people committing su*cide are funny.

Case closed, argument finished. <<less

This novel is not bad at all, definitely a good read if you want to kill some time and don't mind zombie theme. The background of the story is pretty interesting but it progresses very slowly with all these new variant type zombies emerging. The reviews also blame MC's personality in the first chapters without a reason, to me it looked natural while taking his past into consideration. Later on he changes for the better but then again he also loses his unique trait that stood out from MCs in... more>> other apocalypse novels. <<less

The backstory is decent. Stuck in a game world (like SAO) with a zombie setting and the game suddenly giving the MC better skills, stats than others. Given that the MC lost his limbs in real life, the game persona gave him a chance to experience having legs again (think Avatar the movie). He is sufficiently agile since he used to be pretty athletic before he lost his legs.

That's where about the awesomeness ends. Being in a post-apocalyptic lawless setting, there is the usual story about idiots who treat... more>> this still as a game and as such get horribly destroyed. There are those degenerates who abuse the state of lawlessness to take advantage of others either by forcing themselves on them or by unwarranted killing. All these are fine and all but it seems that everyone the MC meets is an idiot. They are pretty much useless at least 30+ chapters in. The story is VERY slow. Side characters keep dying off so much that MC still dont have any companions.

3/3... might be better if I continue reading but I just couldnt bring myself to do so <<less

I have to say all the review is very one side, you guys are being bias to the MC? First its not similar to God and Devil World. That novel is pretty much OP in the first place. Then that novel has decent build of characters that support the MC.

This novel is your typical forever alone MC. The side characters are way beyond hopeless. No matter how humane are you if you are surrounded with useless people who well drag you to death then you either abandon or use them... more>> as a way to escape. Unless your one of those hypocrite people then you well be against the MC of this novel

All MC action cannot be called cruel rather its for a means to survive.

Spoiler

Seriously all characters so far are useless The 2 decent character are really hopeless. That broadcaster girl is getting on my nerve. She is beyond useless can't even use her as a shield. All that died was not because of MC but rather of there own action

[collapse]

So far Chapter 38 the MC struggle alone. MC have yet to meet decent people that he can call companions. I have no idea what author is thinking killing all this side characters but its really a waste of words!

As always since its an early novel I can say its not a good novel so far. For once MC has yet to Level up (seriously how many chapters just to surpass Lv4?) <<less

The MC is definitely nicer than I'd like (almost dies / risks most important character to save someone only moderately important, despite constantly saying he can abandon them) and there's the usual occasional inconsistencies that you notice while binging, but it's not bad overall.

MC is pretty reasonable for the most part, he acts morally but kills enemies and doesn't just go along with idiots when they're being s*upid. He's cold to women but it does have romance: it's slow, but good for a Chinese novel.

I disagree with the "evil... more>> protagonist" tag. The only potentially evil thing he's done is to kill some scum more cruelly than necessary... it's 100% deserved though, imo he's just neutral. He even risks his life to save randos! He's just a bit edgy with his internal monologs. Almost all the other groups (maybe all, I don't remember any that didn't) have s*x s*aves and such, so compared to every other leader in this world he's practically a saint.

The saving randos and such increases a lot later on (once he has enough strength that it wouldn't be su*cide to do so), and that's really not what I wanted when reading this... that's part of why I'm dropping here. The novel also has problems with timescale and some logic in general.

Overall, I'd definitely recommend the beginning. Later on isn't really bad (except for risking waifu thing, that was infuriating), but it doesn't hold my interest. <<less

Initially, I want to rate it 3stars but it just too pitiful when I saw the ratings. Because honestly, It wasn't bad of a story; It's unique and different from other kind horror or zombie apocalypse or transported into a game world novels.

If you are tired of reading heroic MC's who basically lives like a saint goody-goody then you should try read this one. It isn't bad to read something new because you can just dropped it if you don't like it. It's good to read reviews, because you could... more>> find different opinions and see the novels itself. I just blame those reviewers who only consider their own opinions like 'Don't read this novel because of my reason'.

I know the MC is
Spoiler

Brutal. But considering he is not overly powerful where everyone basically is the same at starting point, then saving himself is the crucial thing to survive in apocalypse. Being paranoid and killing someone stealing food where everyone is stranger to you is a normal thing when your life is depending on limited resources.

[collapse]

This novel inclines more toward logic. If you played survival games then you would understand the cruelness of living in the world full of zombies. <<less

Well first of all this is the 5th novel that I have red for apocalypse/world end/zombie translated novel.

I can say it's decent atm. The MC have an attitude like No talking shit, do what he has to do and somehow still has his "value" as in he will take everything to someone who do "bad" thing to him and still maintenance human feeling when the other are kind to him (Of course not like a saint coz he do "good" deeds due to those people are usefull for MC)

So... more>> I will give it 5 stars for now.

4.4/5 for the "plot"

4.5/5 for MC

4.5/5 for the unread chapters

5/5 for the translator's effort <<less
