Lu Shang picked up a dirty teenager while discussing work at a bar. It was merely happenstance, but memories from ten years ago resurfaced when he saw the gunshot scars on the teenager’s back.

Lu Shang asked him, “What is your name?”

“Xiao Li… My surname is Li, so they all called me Xiao Li.”

“You don’t have a name?”

“I don’t remember.”

Lu Shang said, “Then I will call you Li Sui. From now on, you will be with me.”

From that day onward, a young “lover” was always by Lu Shang’s side.

Years later, Dr. Leung teased Lu Shang, “You didn’t get his heart, instead your heart caved in; boss Lu, that doesn’t seem like a bargain.”

This was such a cute story. There's a lot of angst, but the characters feel authentic and I found myself sympathizing with them. In the middle of the story, I had to frantically remind myself that this wasn't tagged as a tragedy.

I love the little excerpt that the translator includes in the end from a related book. It really helps bring the book to a satisfyingly, sweet end.

It's been long since I read this but what makes me write a review is the bad reviews I saw right now.

Well, according to me, it's one of the best stories I've ever read. Why? Well, there's no any special reason. Because all the reasons are special.

I don't remember their names and little details, but I absolutely remember the story. The story is so unique. May be you've read same stories, but I've not.

Let me get into the point. The story is about younger gong x elder shou. The younger... more>> boy's life is a misery until other boy adopt him. But actually it's not an adoption but.... He was actually choosen as his heart donor. Yes. Shou is a heart patient. 😐 But don't worry. Shou is not a bad one. Plot is more complicated than you think. After he adopted the boy, he really raised the boy so well. The boy became so strong, handsome and also intelligent. That's their story of falling in love, achieving goals and fighting against obstacles. Plz read the story. Spoilers are over.

Let me clear some misjudgements now.

*Yes. Sometimes you may wonder how such a weak patient works that hard with his business. But it's possible. My dad is also a patient who even losed one kidney, but still work hard for us even travelling so long. What matter is your mental capacity. But anyone can clearly see Shou is really weak and suffering so much. Are you guys happy now?

*Gong r*ped shou. I don't agree with this. I'm not admiring forceful actions but if you really read the whole novel, you'll find Shou said if he screamed a little or called for driver, he'd be there in a second. But he didn't. You guys can understand what he means. He himself said it. Don't come to me.

*if you still thing Gong is a bastard, please remember he was ready for being the heart donor, he even talked with doctor.

This is such a beautiful story. You'll never regret reading it. Please don't be discouraged by bad reviews. If you don't like it, it's okay. But don't let others to decide it for you.

ohhh I was surfing through the novel's and ig came a suggestion, then I read it's description and felt as if I had already read it a bit.

Then I saw a comment saying MC is terminally patient then only did I remembered I had completed reading it, but just had no memories of it.

😅It's mainly fluff and slice of life as much as I remember, I liked this story quite, so as not to forget it again I thought of writing the review.

It's a wholesome story how slowly... more>> and slowly MC's self interest and selfish feelings turn into true love for ml. ML ohhh he was really cute like a little pup, so cute and careful since the beginning he started falling for MC.

Overall a really nice one, I would highly recommend this to u guys.

Thanku author and translators for the hard work. <<less

A must read if you like poignant love stories!

This novel is about the relationship between a terminally ill (Be ready with tissues!) businessman and a young man he seems to randomly take in. Along with the angst and pain, there is also good character development, humor, scheming businessmen, and smut. Balancing all these elements, the author created a truly powerful story. I really enjoyed the plot and the emotional development of the couple. I also liked how all the characters are realistic with their flaws (warning: there is a moment... more>> of dubcon), weaknesses, and the ways they cope and react to situations. I’m also impressed by the amount of research the author did into medical terminology - doesn't come up often but it's there and the translator does a great job with these esoteric terms.

The translator’s dedication is also impressive! The translator found and translated an excerpt from another novel by the same author that had a character related to this story as well as a holiday extra the author posted after the novel had finished. After the main story, your heart will thank you for the fluffy extras.

This story is definitely worth reading and re-reading! <<less

Just finished re-reading it. I really like this story and it has stayed with me ever since my first read 2 years ago.

What makes it so good is not so much the plot but the characters who are written so nicely that they just stick with you. Their joys, sorrows, the changes in their selves and relationship. Reading the story feels like accompanying them in their highs and lows, and when the happy ending comes, it feels heartwarming and satisfying.

Some readers might notice that there really isn't some excitement in the first several chapters of the story and you might feel that it's a bit bland but for me it's just right because the first several chapters are just laying some foundations on what will happen in the latter half of the story in which it is PACKED FULL of emotions. You will literally be in a rollercoaster of emotions in the latter half that you will question the novel itself if there will be a BE OR HE.... more>> Even if you know that's it's a HE, you still can't help but feel that anxiousness of Lu Shang's possibility of dying together with the company politics. The story really reached its climax in the last few chapters. The extras are a breathe of fresh air and it's just full of fluffiness and love bubbles are always in the air. I'm just happy both for the protagonists to have their happiness that will last until their death. All of their sufferings have been paid off and they're now allowed to have a very bright future ahead.

All in all, a very satisfying read. If you can get through the first half of the story, then you will be definitely rewarded in the end. A must read!!! <<less

Quite cute. There's angst and fluff and honestly the story is quite well written. All the information about the heart disease is quite detailed and I found it really interesting. Though the relationship between the main couple is super cute, I have to disagree with some of the things the ML did while the MC is still sick. There were definitely parts where I felt disappointed in but overall it wasn't too bad. The time skips were a little sudden as well.

It was a bittersweet novel until the end, which I did not like

The good: The tone of the novel
Spoiler

I really liked the bittersweet flavor of the novel - the love between someone with a chronic illness and the person whose heart could literally save him

[collapse]
The Bad: The End
Spoiler

I am glad this is a happy ending, but I really dislike the plot device used

While MC was in a coma ML faked MC death to gain full control of MC company and then created a false identity for MC when he survived

MC dyed his hair and no one recognized him, they all thought ML got a new BF who resembled MC

It was too over the top for me

I bawled my entire life supply of tears on this. I was going to rate this as a 4 due to some inconsistencies but I'll give it +points for making me realize my favorite genre is not enemies to lovers but rather lovers but one has a chronic illness.

In all seriousness, the book is really good. The author put an insane amount of research into this and it shows, the details are simply immaculate and they did an amazing job setting the theme of the story. If you want to... more>> spill a good amount of tears but still be happy after reading, this is the one for you. <<less

It started off well but I don't know whether it's the translation or the author, both the writing and the story has become a drab. The constant repetition of the names feels like a child is telling the story. And then the unnecessary explanation of the characters' action takes away the romance. Sixteen chapters and not much has happened. I want to know how the story proceeds and ends but I can't do it in one sitting as the book is not a page turner. I guess eventually one day... more>> I will finish it since I am curious and update this review. <<less

So beautiful. It has angst and sweetness in a perfect cup. I never write any danmei review but this danmei is an exception. I love the characters so much! I think I need more time to move on from this danmei

There's a lot of angst but not overdone to make one too uncomfortable. A bit bitter, with a lot of sweetness; highly detailed with both coronary treatment and when they talk about their business operation.

(I do admit I feel phantom aches in my chest when they described his relapse... sheesh)

Very bittersweet, filled with a lot of angst and definitely an emotional rollercoaster. This drama is well written but that doesn't mean everyone will like it. It is sad, and very heartwarming, but it is also a HE.

Both our leads here are very strong and opinionated characters and I really admire them though they are fictional.

Definitely worth a read!

Honestly, it took me a long time to read it, like in between I read other novels. Maybe because I just wasn't really in the mood to read this kind of story and I still pushed myself?

Anyway, the story is slow paced to me. There were signs of infatuation at the beginning, but since I've read other reviews and the synopsis-so of course I'll know that Lu Shang and Li Sui will end up together- maybe it played a role. But there were signs.

The story at the beginning has a... more>> very mild tone for me since obviously it's still building up for the climax but it wasn't enough to hook me into it deeply that will make me read it continuously. The MC and the ML also took their time being honest with their feelings but considering their circumstances I totally understand. (Li Sui and his abandoment issues will make your heart melt, I swear.) It wasn't until sh*t started going down that I finally found myself being truly invested in the novel--- though, if to be honest, my favourite part and the most scenes were my heart really pounded is chapter 52-60. And dang, so worth it. Also, the extras are very short (including the translated excerpt from another of the author's novel provided by the translator) but still full of dog food HAHAHA <<less

A very good read. TBH, I have zero tolerance for angst and would not have read this story if I did not know prior that this is a happy end. Due to LuShang's disease and LiSui's sad past, there was a lot of angst but it is well balanced out by the fluff and love between the couple. I appreciate the amount of research invested by the author as it created a world as close to reality as possible... although some of the science is kinda questionable but I do... more>> not ask for perfect realism in my fiction... I ask for coherence. There were only one or two instances where the drama felt contrived and annoying. For e.g. when ZuoChao sulked for days because ML shut down his illegal business to save his s*upid ass... that was not only unnecessary drama, unfit from a character such as ZuoChao but also looked incoherent as ZuoChao was the one who messed up and ML worked hard to get his ass out of jail so I really don't see why MC and ML had to beg for his forgiveness... ridiculous! There were a few other little annoying things like that but they did not spoil my fun too much. Because I am totally in love with the beautiful couple. <<less

The love of Li Sui and Li Shang is pure and deep bone, thrown in the business plots and at the same time, the life and death of Lu Shang, this story is about genuine love that one would wish to have. Well written story! Kudos to the author.
