Roa Valrose reincarnated as a villainess in the book. In order to avoid the fate of being burned at the stake, she approaches the hero, Nocton Edgar.

It hurts every time she get closer to him. Nevertheless, for her survival, she does everything he wants her to do.

“Come again, Valrose.”

The mysterious Nocton unexpectedly sought her out every day.

Then one day, her friend for 10 years says something unknown to her.

“Actually, I have a dream. The Duke of Edgar is a terrible villain!”

He is not the hero, but the villain?

As soon as she realized that she had misinterpreted the role, she decided to get away from Nocton.

“Let’s not meet anymore.”

But the villain’s reaction was strange.

“Don’t go. You’ve always been special to me.”

She was suspicious of his sudden change of attitude.

Will she able to get rid of Nocton safely?

I'm finding it hard to recommend this at the moment. I came out of ch14 still befuddled and confused and find it really hard to follow along. No doubt I'm probably missing out on some sort of deep underlying nuances in the text that may have served to alleviate the ever building confusion I experienced while reading. It's hard to decipher what's truly going on besides the obvious brainwashing.

Edit: The webtoon has recently been scanlated and I would recommend it over the novel at the moment.

So I found this story because I was on this translator site for another story I like.

I may be biased because I love this type of story but the translation quality was good and the story seems to be interesting so far. I love the twist that the male lead is actually villainous. I can tell the MC won’t be a calculating bad b— but she’s not bad, just a bit childish.

I would say so far I’d give it a 4 but I wanted to negate that mean 1 star... more>> rating. <<less

Just finished the first 2 chapters and... the translation isn’t as shitty as other say bruh. It’s just simple, and there’re maybe 3 errors that I could read with my skim reading, which is meh ok not too bad for me.

simple English I can take, provided the meaning and explanation is clear- which this one is. Sounds quite interesting and I will be keeping up :)

It's a good story, great even. However, the quality of the translation is really poor that it distracts you from the plot and makes you wonder if you actually understand the story correctly. At this point, I'm even confused by the timeline since there's no indication whether the MC is having a flashback.

That aside, the story seems interesting so far. The female MC (Roa) may seem like a pushover sometimes but there's a reason for everything she does. The male MC (Nocton) is cunning and mysterious and the supporting characters... more>> also make you interested in them. There's still a lot of things that I'm curious about, especially when it comes to Nocton, so I think I'll keep looking out for the updates. <<less

So far, I like it. It's just that I feel like it'll take a long time before romance will actually develop between them.

Spoiler

Cause now, there's a rift between them caused by the cuff button incident. Valrose also feels like her kindness is unrequited.

[collapse]

I hope Nocton woukd be more self aware and realise more things, especially bout Valrose.

Nonetheless, it is pretty interesting.

I honestly can't decide whether or not this is a romance or a horror novel.

The ML is TRULY terrifying. I'm glad the MC was able to stir him out of insanity during childhood. But damn, does he really like her? I'm confused because he's supposed to like her but then proceeds to ignore her and get himself a fiancee. Plus he is super cold. Was he so afraid of rejection and the consequences of his powers?

Ultimately, the angst is STRONG in this one. It is interesting and most of the... more>> characters are shrouded in mystery. You guys should give it a try. <<less

Like. I like it a lot. At first going into it you might think it's the standard 'villainess isekai' trope, which it partially is and isn't. The writing at the beginning is just a quick recap of what happened as they were children and doesn't actually go through the day to day stuff like a lot of isekai do. The style is to the point. But what makes it really stand out is the different and realistic psychologies of the characters. The realistic reactions along with a very real sociopath... more>> makes this less of a romance and more of a suspenseful psychological horror. A subtle one that edges on not knowing what a yandere would do to you or your loved ones. <<less

If you're someone who gets frustrated easily then this isn't your cup of it, this novel reminds me of another MC I hate from Abandoned Empress, why I hate Valrose

Spoilers

: She claims Edgar is selfish but she is the most selfish of them all, she approached him for the sake of Survival not because of interest and even if things changed along the way she still refuses to admit she loves him, she would rather take it out on him than talk about her feelings.

:Valrose the MC would... more>> rather believe anyone else than believe her beloved Edgar and some might argue that's because she was tricked or mislead but truthfully it's because she is a selfish hypocritical coward who would rather throw accusations than confront her own feelings, at some point it felt like she was begging the ML to be evil so that her accusations could be justified.

: At first she didn't trust him because he was the villain then its cause Aaron and Alice said so, it's like she is always looking for someone to blame for her own misunderstandings of the ML.

: Some could argue that her behaviour was due to Noctons stepmother and others manipulating her with memory potions and other stuff but you have to notice that even way before the manipulation started, there was already a crack in their relationship, to put it blantly, having been reborn as a villainess doomed to die later, she approaches Nocton in order to survive mistaking him to be the ML of a novel she read before reincarnation and I quote; solely approaching him to survive, not because of interest or curiosity but to survive; After getting close to him she realises that his behaviour is unsual, one minute they seem close the next it seems like he is pushing her away or bullying her but she sticks around by then it's unknown whether she puts up with him cause of interest or she was commiting to her mission to survive but on the MLs side we can tell he is doing all this to protect her from his enemies cause his stepmother had started to notice that she was important to him. Later as they grow Alice her best friend and the Herione of the novel she read starts having dreams about their lives (I haven't read that far ahead to know if Alice's dreams had also been manipulated or if they're her own) she tells her that Nocton is a villain and it doesn't take long for her to believe it (like she doubted it for just one sec then she believed it🙄🙄🙄) After that conversation with Alice she starts acting strangely around Nocton and it seems others also notice hence the manipulation of the memory potion she took then blah blah blah................

: Lastly, Nocton (ML) is a character that Isn't good at expressing himself and always has his guard up cause of his dysfunctional family and his magic abilities at least that how the author depicts him but even with all that he tries acouple of times to explain himself and his behaviour to Valrose (MC) but she always finds an excuse to pushes him away in the most hurtful way and has no self awareness that her words carry more meaning to him, they could easily make or break him. (Like how he refuses to kill cause of a promise Valrose made him make when they were kinds not knowing her naivety and selfishness is what brought them calamity.)

Anyway to me, it wasn't a pleasant read and even when I tried to keep up just to see how far it would go, the pent-up frustration got to me and I dropped it, it's like the author made it angst just for the sake of being angst, like there was always a misunderstanding somewhere, guess as the title says; Everything was a mistake. 😒😒😒😒😒😒 <<less

Overall, the novel is basically just your tried and true reincarnated-as-villainess story. I don't think I have to explain anything more than that though to the abundance of these types.

I'm not, however, going to rate it badly for that as I acknowledge that there are people who enjoy these sorts of genre but what I am going to lambast it for is the staggering abundance of typos.

Seriously, it's as if the translator has little to no quality control of their work. Nearly every paragraph on every chapter thus far has... more>> been littered with spelling errors which is horrid as the readers are forced to stop to correct the mistakes on their own which makes the experience incredibly jarring.

Though to this, I cannot possibly justify giving this novel a four star, a five is unlikely for now as the novel uses an incredibly overdone idea and with the current pace, It's likely to end up with the tried and true ending of the protagonist and male lead ending up together. I'll probably change my review later on if it does somehow surprise me somewhere along the way but once again, it's doubtful that it will. <<less

This book, let me be honest. At first, I was okay with the book but I couldn’t stand it anymore. The author made the ML a borderline creep but then sike he actually was not and was just plain pitiful, the FL is an idiot. Honestly the book annoyed me so much, I mean

The Mc

The Ml

... more>> Alice

Aaron

All just needed to be locked in a room together for one day and talk. The misunderstandings that could be solved if they just used their pea sized brains to figure out that at their age communication is key to healthy relationships would reduce the length of the book by more than half probably.

Translation was tr*sh too, I know I should be grateful someone actually translated it no matter how bad it is but. I’d rather read a book that rarely updates with quality translation than a book that updates a lot with tr*shy translation. Pls, if you are not gonna translate a book, manhwa, manhua... e.t.c well, then just don’t translate it at all, no update is better than update with unreadable translations.

Anyways, I rated it 1 star since I couldn’t rate it 0, bad plot, bad translation. I dropped it, dropped the manhwa too (the translation of the manhwa has recently gotten unreadable as well) and left a review, goodbye. <<less

So far I love it... The story line was something that I have been looking for... Because there is alot of pair between a villainess and the main character... For once I want to see a good pairing between a villain and the villainess... The translations its quite good... The translator also has done a good job in trying to keep the context of the story translated... For now I really can't wait to see how this story will move...

Love the novel. I really thought the storyline was those typical reincarnated into a villain body stories, where they try to make everything better by being nice to the supposing main characters. But the twist was shocking. It feels fresh to read something different. But honestly this story was kind of frustrating to read at first because I just dont get the writing. Theres always flash backs and its so confusing whats current and whats the past. I would recommend reading the manhua than reading the written novel. Its much... more>> easier to understand <<less

it's a good story and I quite like it, but sometimes it was hard to understand what was going on.

also can't the ML be honest, or can't the FL just notice his feelings. They both are giving me a heartache.

I think I would have liked the story if the translation wasn't poor. The translation made it a difficult read for me just because I have to correct the mistakes on my own and make sense of the translation. A lot of grammar mistakes and wrong spellings and maybe wrong use of words and parts that weren't properly and smoothly translated. Some parts, I believe might have been lost in translation

I like smooth reads where I dont have to overanalyze stuff.

If you can read it like this, good for you... more>> I applaud your patience

But for those who are picky about the quality of translations, you might not be able to properly appreciate the story. <<less

This novel is very frustrating. It's just a bunch of misunderstanding piling upon more misunderstanding tbh.

I personally don't mind the misunderstanding trope since it can be done well with the right author's touch but this author just keep dragging the same issue over and over again that as a reader I just felt tired and frustrated.

The plot is definitely good tho, even with all my frustration I can see what kind of story the author is trying to tell however I have just become too tired from all the misunderstanding... more>> mumbo jumbo that I have decided to drop this. I'm curious about how this story will end but I just find no joy in reading further. <<less

If I will rank this one I will give it 3 and a half stars.

Is this story deserve to be read? Yes, it's quite refreshing and the plot is nice.

But...

... more>> I don't recommend this if you dislike angsty ones. Because I want to torture myself I still read this until now. And the misunderstandings and distrust kills me to the bone.

Roa Valrose the FL

  • Her face is a typical villain one as it was explain.
  • Hmmm... She was a worrisome person or always thinking about to save herself that's why she befriend the ML.
  • She was mature and quite friendly but I guess some people will hate her due to the story progress but I will explain it later.
Nocton Edgar the ML.

  • He is a black magician/wizard.
  • Actually he was in love with our FL but he don't know what kind of feelings he have for the FL.
  • He has a lot of pride, pride and pride.
  • His family is also crap the same with other novels.
If you are for the romance this will not be for you. The romance is progressing very slowly because of the two leads.

I will explain why a lot hate the FL in this. Roa trust Alice more than Nocton. She looks at Nocton with despise when in fact Nocton is trying to protect her from everything. Since they are young.

The torture in the ML's point of view is too much to handle.

But I do understand the FL's side because she realize the whole plot when she drink the potion. That Nocton is a villain and not the ML. But the wrong of the FL is she is still living in the story she have read and not living on reality.

And I pity Nocton because he was hurt a lot of times.

Spoiler

Especially the part in which he drunks a holy water which is poisonous for him. So Roa can just trust her even a little bit.

[collapse]

And also... those throw lines of Roa to Nocton. It's too much to handle. Our ML is so pitiful!

I want to throw the fault in Alice. She is the reason why everything is a mess.

But I hope Roa can let Nocton explain his side more soon.

Anyways if you don't like torture of emotions with lots of angst. This will not be for you.

And this is the first time I cheer for the ML than the FL lol. <<less

This novel is full of misunderstandings, to the point that you want to enter and holpear to the Fl, all the time she attacks the ML thinking that she is right just because her friend tells her and she dreamed it, then in the end she gives the great turn, I do not understand how FL could not realize that the mother of ML was the villain all the time, that is, there were many things to suspect of her, starting with that she never gave him a good thorn...... more>> anyway, I liked its ending, although deep down the FL did not deserve the Ml <<less

This is honestly really good and superior compared to other similar novels, but I can't help but notice the poor translation and a few other (minor) problems. I would definitely recommend this novel for its intricate plot, as well as the variety of different characters and in general, a storyline that actually interests the reader. My biggest complaints would be the poor translation; I won't say it was poorly written from the start, because I suspect that it's the translator who translated it, well, a bit unsatisfactorily. Nonetheless, huge thanks... more>> to the translator, because I know I wouldn't be able to read this novel if it weren't for them! The few other complaints I have are that there seems to be way less of romance and yandere than I expected. I'd originally thought that the biggest components (?) of this novel would be those two genres, from looking at the summary, but to be blunt, I'm a bit disappointed. Of course, I'll still be following this novel's updates, but I hope to see more of the yandere and romance going on. I suspect the main reason for my "disappointment" is that it's a slowburn type of story, and I'm just a little impatient. <<less
