An unknown parcel arrives to Yoshio, a 30-years old NEET. The content is a game disk titled “The Village of Fate.” A beautiful CG game with real-life images gets started.

All of the villagers in the game are high-performing AIs, who strangely behaved like human beings. In that game, Yoshio is the god of destiny and will be in a position to guide the villagers. But what can be done in the game is only to give a message, a prophecy, once every day. The villagers will execute the instruction, and their gratitude becomes the power of miracles, that the god of destiny can use.

Yoshio is worshiped as God but in reality he lives like a shut-in. Thanks to villagers he will again learn the joy of life and thanks to him the villagers will be saved.

I've been genuinely surprised at how good this story is. Through the "game, " he is not only able to save the villagers but also save himself. If there is any room for improvement it would spending more time "in" the game. Very interested to see where the story goes from here.

Fantastic novel so far. It's quite different from anything else I've read but borrows the best parts of many different genres. The MC feels incredibly dynamic and is constantly changing and improving through his experiences, both in the game and out. I'm incredibly interested in seeing where this one goes, absolutely worth a read right now.

And the translation is quite good, too, so you can enjoy it without having to struggle.

It starts a bit slow but it gets really interesting after a few chapters.

It's a great story where the MC slowly grow up after tragedy struck him, that caused him to become a NEET.

He develops himself gradually through the story as the people he helps grows along with him.

It's a bit mediocre but has an interesting concept. I feel like it has the potential to grow and mature as a story but sadly it didn't reach its potential and only ended at the 5th volume.

Part's that would've needed more improvement would be the MC's maturity. It would've also been nice for more details in magic, mostly the author only used melee attacks, bow for long range and priest that could heal, other than that miracles is a bit iffy, even the demons and villains need more context. It... more>> would've been better for more character development also.

Although it's a bit disappointing, I still enjoyed reading it.

I like how inspiring the story of never giving up on life and standing up from the fall, how long it may take to get back up.

It's still a good light read. <<less

I loved the first story (which is the first three volumes) but I am finding the second to be way too anxiety inducing. The fact that there is way too much real danger (both physical and economical) with defense relying almost entirely on luck / whims of the author is just a bit too much for me.

Spoiler for the basic premise of the novel's world:

Spoiler

Basically, there's a real-life fantasy undergirding the world and people will literally try to kill you and dominate you but you're just a person and get buffeted around by the whims of fate and still have to live a normal life with all of your friends and family constantly under both supernatural threat and threat of supernaturals using full power of wealth and economy against you and them but you can't tell them or protect them.

[collapse]

Spoiler for what the set-up of the second half of the story seems to be (I've only read the first few chapters of the second half thinking there'd be a little more resolution/epilogue to the first half before the second half started) :

Spoiler

Imagine you're a janitor with a bunch of folks relying on your support in a different world in order to not literally die but a rich CEO with wealth and magic powers is against you and moving against your family and friends and workplace.

[collapse]

I also found it very difficult to accept the ultimate premise revealed in the end of the first half...

Spoiler

The "good" gods and "evil" gods are tentatively allied in our world and willingly participating in a battle where their servants and worshippers kill each other and strive to wipe each other off the map while they all hang out in Hokkaido. They can all work together to develop a world-altering miracle video game that allows use of miracles against our-world humans to assault them and presumably kill them and other-world humans to super kill them but they can't work together to the extent of not constantly pitting their followers against each other.

It's also extremely absurd that someone who has real-world money, let alone groups of people with money, don't automatically defeat the main character who only has a part-time job.

[collapse]

Actually, after writing that I've decided to drop the story...

Spoiler

The first two arcs in the first half were pretty OK but as soon as you introduce real-world money used in a multiplayer game with real human lives at risk it is too much for me. Also, the s*xual assault in arc 3 by the desire-influencing player, even if it was stopped before getting as bad as it was leading into, made it apparent that this world is a lot less "heartwarming" and "people improve their life as they work and try to do so" and instead this world is more, "so this is a nightmare to consider the ramifications of".

[collapse]

The cliffhanger of the second arc of the first half led me successfully through the detestable parts of the third arc, but I can't really recommend this story with the trauma and lack of agency inherent in the premise. Maybe if you're really a fan of capitalism? <<less

Short version : fan of slice of life go for it/ isekai fan turn around.

This novel is a slice of life story, half about a NEET guy trying to get is life together and another half about a village in a fantasy world trying to survive against monsters.

The novel is good if you like story about personal development and emotional growth but if you are here because of the fantasy world building and video game part than just read something else.

As someone who can't relate to depression and EXTREME social... more>> anxiety, this story felt flat and only the NPC town building part kept me going.

Spoiler

So I was really happy when he got in the game, but after he got back home it started going bad for me.

First of all, this is lit! The pacing isn't too fast or too slow, the premise are interesting and kinda fresh. The characters are lovable (except the villain), and in volume 3, it's officially became

I could feel the seinen genre in this novel in a heartwarming way.

Interesting story line. There is a good twist too. I got bit boring from mid to ending of Arc 1 but I give a flavor in the finale of Arc 1. Waiting for the next chapter.

This is a really fun and wholesome novel. I think the best part of it is how realistic (considering there is another world involved) it is. The characters are extremely well developed. I can’t wait for more releases. My thanks to both the author and translator!

Bit slow (chapter 12), reconciling family relationship might be too simple/hopeful/light for someone who ignores the whole family for years and family still forgives him too fast.

The usage of "isekai" (dont know how to describe it else) is novel and not too cheaty, also kind of nice to see a change in the neet status (but too fast of a change as Neet and Hikikomoori usually have low social skills that make them hesitate even talking to the simplest cashier) (try not talking to anyone for a week/month and you... more>> will have a view of low social skills)

No apparent big flaws here and there but still something to look forward to.

Translation is good, flows greatly and pretty clear. <<less

So far the novel is pretty good.

No over the top common sense-breaking scene that it feels fresh.

The story is about a guy who is trying to get over his introvert/uselessness/hikikomori/idkWhatToDescribeIt personality in a more (not so realistic since there's a bit of fiction. but) relatable way... by taking care of a whole village..

[UPDATED ch. 69] Worth a try, you guys.

No harem (yet, but probably won't anyways)

No overpowered shit

... more>> No reincarnation (MC actually went there after stuff happened, tho I don't think it'll be a back and forth repeatable crossing, probably only one time as an exception due to a bug)

Modern world problems

Good pace, but

There are character growth, but

(Continuing the two buts above) pacing set for MC growth is kind of too fast for my liking but that's personal and not a bad thing overall. Definitely better than cardboard MC or wimpy MC or even super alpha MC found in many other titles.

Regarding the MC growth, it's not about how he overcomes his past NEET problems but as the story continues the proper explanation and problem solving are properly provided. BUT I think the initial chapters vs the solution was kind of weirdly connected (as in memory alteration due to past trauma thingy but wobbly af imo) tho all in all, still a positive review from me. Oh and his relationship with everyone is getting gradually better. I like how the improvement on his sister's relationship the most.

There are also some reveals on dangerous situations, although since this novel isn't about combat so don't expect too much cheat OP MC-like actions <<less

So far it's been quite good, except for somethings that the author just decided to explain forcefully (as a coincidence, but how is that not explained before to every citizen in the form of tales?) the rest is great.
It feels like Reincarnation of the Otaku, a sort of slow life that makes the MC get a life by providing meaning.

Must say that I'm really loving this, even this early it's easy to get immersed? Well, something like that.
I think most people will like this, well, maybe not those people that prefers fast actions etc.
Will just have to wait for more chapters to come out.
