let see, the reason of why I dropped on this novel is due to the heroine which is unlikable or possessing no personality at all. Yeah, as an addition to it, the author choose to stick with this ugly character with the MC with a short time meeting into a sudden love which could be said " taking the short-cut story for character relationship without minding the character development". Well, I guess the author does not think regarding this type development and choose to skip the important part then continuing... more>> the main story.

second reason is that when it changes to the classmate/hero's POV , it just unbearable to read. Why ? Out of sudden/nowhere in amount of short of chapter those people were enjoying in traveling and having fun which question of whether the story of the MC is the main focus or not. <<less

It lacks originality, story is too predictable and it has a lot s*upid fight scenes as well.

its very boring. At first it was good but as soon as the story is becoming battle heavy that literally take 60+ chapters just to save her princess and having to end in a draw fight that only tells that the author intend to recycle the story again, to be honest I can already tell the the protagonist's girl might end up getting kidnapped again and do all over the s*upid battle scenes again.

and for the translation, yep its weeb heavy translation, well it was at least a little worse compared to estelions translation where mile novel literally filled of weeb lines and creepy lolicon related references. <<less

Stuck to it until c59, but dropped for good.

I don't usually write reviews, but man, this particular novel really forced me to. I ran into the manga version of this novel first and that piqued my interest.

The thing is though, reading this was a slog. I regularly got confused by what was being said and had to reconstruct the paragraphs/sentences in my head to make any sense of what's going on. I can't be certain how much of this was down to the poor writing or the inconsistent TL quality,... more>> but whatever the case may be, it's quite a hard read in all the wrong ways.

There are other issues with the cookie-cutter characters, generic game elements that seemed to get discarded pretty early on, cursory world building, and the MC who won't kill for strange reasons even though his "class" is an assassin - you know, the one where you're supposed to assassinate people.

I'd have given it one star were it not for the translator's dedication and persistence/patience to sticking with this novel until now. <<less

This is written by a very young author with very little skill. Resulting in some s*upid, avoidable cliches and a plot so predictable it puts you to sleep.

Dropped after 128 chapters.

The only reason I read this is because the manga adaptation caught my eye.

I'll just bluntly say that this isn't bad, but it also isn't good. It is just another mediocre, generic wish fulfillment isekai. The fights aren't the type that will make your blood boil in excitement, you just feel like "ahh, the fight ended" and feel absolutely nothing but boredom as you get bored and skim through it all.

MC isn't even an assassin, he just got high stealth (that he never f*cking uses). We rarely see him stealthily... more>> kill someone, we just see him wipe out enemies with OP shadow magic.

The plot twists are badly planned,
Spoiler

elf waifu's imouto did something s*upid and elf waifu saves the day. Imouto got memory wiped so she doesn't feel guilty, doesn't know that elf waifu saved their asses and imouto got jealous because waifu op and loved by all. Imoutos charms everyone except the king which is immune (?) or whatever but let imouto do sh*t anyways because reasons (i don't f*cking know)

[collapse]

The pace is so slow that even a slice of life has a faster pace than this. The POV switches are annoying and add nothing except that Hero and Samurai is gay for that assassin d*ck (they aren't I'm exaggerating)

The translator did a good job, a great job in fact, but the story is so bland that I can't read anymore.

Translator - 9-10/10

Story - Meh/10

P.S. Ignore the shitty grammar. My rage made my brain go full ret*rd on this review <<less

As great as the summary is, the way the story is written and executed is done poorly, especially at where chapters start and end.

Like others said when writing their own reviews the author has great ideas but executes them poorly along with using generic cliches that you can see or just awkward cliches that are revealed poorly. Though I'd like to say it's world building is pretty okay along with the ideas that drive the story, it's second arc which I believe is the elf one, just seems weird and... more>> doesn't seem to flow well as the early chapters. It's Manga seems better but I guess you can say the reason why its Manga is doing better is due to it's art and how there isn't any long or awkward transitions or it's because it's still in it's 1st arc before the elves territory.

Another Pretty generic Isekai fantasy with a writer whom can't seem to write a consistent character. One chapter the protagonist is saying he absolutely has to go kill the demon king, the next chapter he's ignoring problems because it's not his business, then he's getting involved in some other unrelated plot just because. And it seems to just flip back and forth for the sake of plot progression.

Overall I wanted to like it but then came that s*upid trope of "You did horrible evil things but we forgive you immediately... more>> because you're sorry." But this one just takes it a step further in that everyone else has plot armor... from the protagonist. He is a super-assassin, but the second he fights someone and decides not to kill them, you know they're getting redemption or something. There's no further betrayal, no questioning, it's just problem solving by way of writing every character to be one-dimensional.

Just finished the Elf village arc, I'll use it to explain how bizarre the sense of justice is in this novel
Spoiler

They use that popular Japanese fantasy trope of royal twins being a cursed existence. Only the author tries to flip in on it's head. The curse is nonsense, all perpetrated by the younger twin, who has a charm skill. The younger twin used that charm to steal the older twins fiance, frame her for attempted mu*der, and turn the rest of the elves against her using that curse story, and attempts to kill her older sister. Her punishment, she loses a duel to the protagonist, cries about how unfair it was being the younger twin, and gets forgiven immediately by everyone.

Came from the manga, some 50 chapters laters I want the 2 hours I spent reading them back... The manga isn't even that good, it just filters out all the bad sh*t in this tr*sh-tier novel to make it, well readable. The other reviewers have said pretty much all there is to say about this tr*sh tier novel, expect one thing. The annoying WEEB sh!t translation! The combination of a weeb heavy translation with huge TL notes in the middle of chapters, with a tr*sh tier novel somehow manages to... more>> even make this novel many times worse than it actually is.

First rule of translation, stay absolutely NEUTRAL!

That means, when you translate a text into another language do not use Japanese/Chinese/Korean/French/English honorifics unless they make sense, and if you absolutely have to use them, then don't ******* abuse them, which is what the translator of this novel does, all the damn time all over the place! Abusing honorifics is an extremely annoying phenomenon and unfortunately it's also a very common problem when it comes to Japanese web novels translations in general.

Second rule of translation, don't put huge TL notes in the middle of a chapter! Because all that accomplishes it to disrupt the flow of the story and stops the immersion the reader has at that point in the story. Learn how to use them correctly, just put them at the end of the chapter instead and mark them with a small 1, 2 3 and so forth. How hard can it be?

I would have given this a minus 3 is possible, 1/5 for the actual novel and an additional -4 for the horrible translation! <<less

Interesting premise, blatant enough foreshadowing that we know something terrible is going to happen soon. Pretty typical at the moment, but has potential to go either way.

An okay ride, but with weak writing.

The textbook Isekai: Classroom of students, check. Game mechanics in this fictional other world, check. Edgy main character with overpowered stats, check. Pretty boy hero that isn't the main character, check. Convenient plot with loose writing and shallow characters, check check.

Here, we have the main love interest falling head over heels with the main protagonist at the beginning, yet she has a very weak plausible motivation for it. The main character has an interesting ability but the author doesn't develop it in any character... more>> arc and conveniently makes it stronger. The protagonist's powers improve randomly as the story requires it and the author abuses 'the interesting power' as a Deus ex machina. Villains are shallow, and with weak logic behind their actions, leading many scenarios to feel overly coincidental and convenient. Some villains appear for plot convenience only to be a backdrop for the main character. Other villains that may seem interesting, have their stories cut short to force the plot forward, and subsequently become a backdrop for the main character. The author changes POV between different characters in an effort to possibly improve the characterization for side characters, but let's be real here, everyone is a backdrop for the main character.

Many times I stopped and thought: "Why are these characters doing this? This feels too convenient."

I feel that this author should have worked harder in developing the plot and worked in more thorough character arcs. This feels like a nice Isekai fanfic, full of tropes and no surprises. With the hoard of available Isekais available, these stories need something to stand out from the rest, a gimmick per se, and this story lacks that.

It is my belief that the Isekai premise is abused by authors as a writing crutch. Rather than spend effort introducing a fantasy world, Isekai allows for the reader to both experience a relatable protagonist and to enjoy the story in media reis. The crutch here, is that authors follow up with improper exposition dumps and tend to cut corners by using blatant game mechanics to help quantify a world that hasn't been fully developed. This is not to say that I don't like Isekais, on the contrary I enjoy them very much. What a good Isekai has is a star, something it does different or novel enough that it stands out against the backdrop of cookie cutter blandness; this story lacks that star.

On a more personal note, I feel that there are a few times the author uses what I feel is immature language and it just feels cringy and out of place. Other times I feel the author lost patience with developing a scene and speeds through sections of content rather than fleshing out the story. What could have been a fascinating character arc devolves into a rushed story job.

I wouldn't recommend this story except to kill time. Shallow plot, weak writing, and non memorable characters. <<less

C41 rn and tbh it's already goin down... At first I thought that he will be a calm and calculating MC but these past chaps is meh... It's like his attitude is all over the place and that made it quite bad... I can understand if there was a process or development/regress something but as I was reading nothing really more like as the story goes on he became much more dumber...

Spoiler

Most probably why I don't like it as much is probably when he got the cat where there lives are connected to one another so who tf would want to make a pet where both of your lives is connected to one another knowing that pet is created by the DK where he can monitor you all the time... Just who tf... yes the fking MC and this is just after they defeated it where they are being attacked by it.

[collapse]

I had high expectations when I saw this long ago when there was no tl yet and just a few chaps in the manga only, if I remember right

Reading the start of my review then the spoiler part feels like I'm a different person tbh... Wow... <<less

Can't stand the s*upid writing and the s*upid MC. So many things wrong on so many levels. I love isekai but this is one of the worst isekai I've read. Keeping this short because I don't feel like wasting my time writing more and don't want to spoil anything if you want to read this yourself.

Fun read and light writing style if you want something easy to pass the time, but nothing else. I give it 3 stars because the foreshadowing is not bad and keeps you interested, and there is a cat, its full of cliché everywhere, which is not bad, a well executed cliché can make a story very fun and rich, but this author is not that good at executing it. The good thing is that the rival character shows growth and doesnt stays idiotic like in the start.

Sadly, there are contradictions... more>> and things that dont make sense with the characters and some relationships (wtf with the elves) are forced, like the MC and the FL in the romance department (too fast, they barely know each other? but then again, both arent used to dealing with people and tend to be loners, so they find solace in each other quite fast), there are more romance flags with Akira, the rival and Asashina Kyosuke than with her, if I didnt know this isnt BL, I would be convinced the end ship is with one of em lol (but that can also be seen as rivarly and healthy competition within peers).

The translation... Puntuation needs a lot of work, too many ", " that aren't well placed and make the dialogue and narration feel weird, excessive "maa" and other words japanese use a lot but to us looks strange (that can be overlook since its most likely the author writing style and tendency to add it, sadly that downplays serious situations a bit too much... then again, author style). Overall the translator puts a lot of work and its well done, they work hard for words to make sense for us and put explanations when needed. Kudos for that!

Not a masterpiece and like many you see out there, simple style. All in all, a fun read if you dont want something overly complicated and want some adventuring, the manga makes it better so if you dont like the novel much, give the manga a chance (the plot is revised there so its a bit better). Foreshadowing makes you wanting to know whats next. <<less
