Growing up parentless, Shi Yan, who was left with a large inheritance money, bore a general disinterest in life.

The only times he felt alive was when adrenaline coursed thorough his veins. He quickly found that extreme sports, bungyjumping, cave diving & skydiving, gave him the biggest kicks. The bigger the adrenaline kick, the closer he was to death, the more alive he felt.

Waking up in a pile of dead bodies in an unknown land, after a diving adventure had ended disastrously, he quickly realizes the body he now possessed was not his own.

Follow Shi Yan as he explores this new world where danger lurks around every corner, and death is only a breath away; a world in which Shi Yan could not feel any more alive.

Absolute Banger I say, If you don't like kinda evil but Determined and MC with his priorities straight you'll hate it.... Some Kitty trying to say it's bad and stuff cause of some rap3 scenes and MC slaughtering almost everyone everywhere. At first it was kinda booring and slow and kinda s*upid but it gets better. The Ending was kinda eh... Cause I wanted more of it and ending kinda pauses everything though it gives hope for something more.I would love if Writer Continues Writing it and explore more of... more>> it.

8.5/10 but damn It's good. <<less

Honestly, I've never been this fking pissed at a novel before. After searching for so long, I finally found a MC that was ruthless and act on his desires. It was going great, MC slaughtering people just like the name of the title.

But after chapter 50, It all goes to shit. MC's personality changed 180. He turns into a fking coward and gets nerf whenever the author feels like it. Im currently at the 300th chapter and for the past 250 chapters, its basically MC getting f*cked in the ass... more>> and begging everyone for survival. I've never been this mad that I actually had to go to the gym to release my pent up anger.

The author is so f*cking shit. I've never felt this way about an author before, but if I see him in the streets, I will jump that mother f*cking ass. The entire story is one massive c*ckblock. Instead of going from point A to point B. Author will f*cking put 10 filler arcs between that. In the MC's journey to meet his family. They constantly teased about how amazing it would be and all the benefits the MC would get. But after every single f*cking time, MC meets and overpowered enemy and diverges from his path.

Spoiler

MC was suppose to meet his family after chapter 50 smt. Instead he encountered, A GOD skeleton, Corpse Sect, h**ny Sect, Pirates, Demon, and etc.

[collapse]

I dont hate the MC and the type of story instead I like the plot of it. But the fking author man, he is so sh*t at writing. I was so excited to read a novel with a ruthless MC, but this piece of sh*t ruined the entirety of it. <<less

Actual rating more like 2.5. Though I feel like even that's a bit overrated.

First, a few words about the author. I don't know if he's infamous for the r*pe tag, but he bloody well should be. Notorious, even. It was already present in his other, better novel - Great Demon King - and it's not absent here, either.

Since I'm comparing the two, let me also add that basically both have starter world and then gods' world, pretty much, though there are plenty of differences. In GDK, the initial world was... more>> Western Fantasy type with only MC being able to cultivate like in xianxia, and then we had Coiling Dragon style gods. In this novel, it's all xianxia style. If you read both novels, then let me tell you that GDK was vastly superior in terms of initial world, but it had shitty gods' world, while this one's gods' world is passable.

That's pretty much it about this novel's setting. It's pretty much a classical xianxia. Well, the cultivation realms are pretty confusing at times, which may or may not be the translators' fault (there were some obvious mistakes, such as calling a technique [finger gun] instead of [finger spear] - spear and gun are written with the same character in Chinese), but then again the realms aren't particularly fascinating in and of themselves, either. Speaking of the translators, there was a small mess (mostly due to different translators, I guess), but the translation is okay overall. Kind of.

As for the plot, the novel is less of God of Slaughter, and more of a God of Loose Ends. Just like some other reviewer said, the author (at least in this novel) loves not to finish arcs properly, but instead send the protagonist off into the next one. There are many cases of the author forgetting things afterward too. For example,

Spoiler

the dragon-demon or whatever mount of the protagonist gets parked by the latter outside some secret realm that he couldn't take a mount into, and then left there for years; if the protagonist's enemies didn't find it by accident and imprison and take it with them, I guess the mount would've stayed there until the very end of the novel lmao

[collapse]

The plot is more or less generic. If you read a few xianxia novels, then you'll never be surprised by this here. It's not bad, either, but I think I can call it lackluster. Some parts are a bit fun, maybe, but that's it. Some developments are rather annoying, especially in terms of romance - the main girl is like Princess Peach, and she's never in that one castle by the time MC gets there. Well, he does have a lot of other love interests, and he shags quite a few of them, but I think he r*ped just as many - if not more - women than those who are with him. Romance and harem are in general a rather disappointing part of this novel. Pity coz I counted on more.

The events of the novel aren't really interesting most of the time. I skimmed through many chapters, and that's the only reason I reached 911. If I hadn't done that, I would've probably only read around 600 chapters.

Speaking of the protagonist himself, he's supposed to be neutral evil, but he's true neutral most of the time, or even lawful neutral. I think the author pretty much betrayed the premise: the MC was supposed to be a bad guy who cares for nothing but thrill and excitement, but he quickly becomes more similar to generic xianxia protagonists. It's pretty rare for him to be actually evil. I think the author tried to write an evil MC, but didn't have a sufficiently strong image of one in his mind, so he ended up gravitating toward a more generic xianxia MC that he knew from hundreds of novels - like we all do (if we read enough xianxia novels). Oh, and I wish the author toned down the level of danger and crises the MC often got himself into, coz it was only solvable with cheats most of the time, which of course happened every time, so it was pretty boring...

Of the other characters, I think MC's team is the only interesting group. I guess you can consider them his familiars, so it's fun if you like such things, though it's a pity their characters weren't really fleshed out. Friends and enemies are written neither poorly nor well, and they're pretty generic. One good thing about them is that enemies don't always remain enemies - they sometimes turn into friends, allies, or subordinates, which is better than most xianxia, I guess. Well, most of the time it doesn't matter, because it's very common for the author to forget about them.

Oh, a funny thing is that the protagonist isn't racist, and is actually pretty open-minded, while some other characters are racist. In this case, it's basically a human vs nonhuman thing, though it doesn't really repeat in other worlds.

Like I said, romance and harem are pretty poorly written. There's more r*pe than romance, and we get quite a bit of r*pe-victim-becomes-lover crap. I mean, even GDK had some r*pe, but romance and harem were better there. Here, the women are pretty much forgotten after a short while or their feelings aren't mutual. The only good thing in this category in this novel is that the MC takes no crap from women in a sense that if they clearly aren't confident in him and choose someone else, then they don't get a second chance from him. He's not "simping, " and he doesn't put up with their crap like some protagonists do. This is about the only thing I liked.

So, like I said, it's not really a novel worth reading in particular. I think you'd do much better to read the Great Demon King of the same author instead. It has much better setting, better love interests, better romance, better friends / side characters, better plot... It's generally better. It's only that its second half (or last one-third) sucks hard. It's a bit funny because GDK is from 2008, and God of Loose Ends is from 2011, so the author's skill basically regressed (or he simply DGAF). <<less

It has a ton of problems, and as always the beginning is by far the best part. However, it was good enough that I managed to read all 1618 chapters, so it deserves a 4 for that alone.

The MC is pretty reasonable for the most part, I don't really understand why it has the "evil protagonist" tag though. Ruthless, yes, but even then it's kinda annoying sometimes how he isn't ruthless enough. He's really kind to people that aren't his enemies, and he goes out of his way to avoid... more>> harming neutral people whenever possible. He's definitely the most chad MC I've read in a Chinese novel, basically just goes around collecting women. After a point (pretty early on) he suddenly only wants virg*ns though, which is just one of many times characters randomly change or make uncharacteristic decisions just to force the plot. Luckily for him, from that point on pretty much all women remain virg*ns for hundreds / thousands of years just for him.

There are plenty of other things like that which get annoying (tons of stuff gets forgotten, the world totally revolves around the MC, nobody loots dead / captured enemies), but the MC massacring enemies and taking new women is entertaining enough that it's still worth a read if that's what you're looking for. <<less

chapter 1 to 400 was really good writing. Pacing was good, story was consistent and the the characters are believable. I rate those first 400 chapter 4 5/5.

but after that it felt like the author start extending word counts. The MC conveniently forgotting skills that could easily solve his problems. His decisions become questionable and overall the world building become inconsistent. Chapter 400 to 600 I rate as 3.5. Almost 95 percent chinese light novel has characteristic declining quality so I dont expect it to become better. edit.

finally finished... more>> reading it. Its a level up - fight stronger opponent then become a god kind of novel. Having 1600 chapters is just too long. It will be much better if it will be abridged to 300 chapters. All good chinese novels I had read got less than 700 chapters eg. Founder of diabolism. Note to self never read novels that got more than 700 chapters ever again. <<less

the translations are somewhat subpar but other than that this is a good novel. If your sick and tired of beta MC popping up everywhere like poisonous weeds and just want a MC that kicks ass and acts like a MC should. This novel is for you. The novel comes out swinging in all its antihero glory from chapter 1 and doesn't stop till the last chapter. The harem is ok even though there all forgotten but the author uses a quantity over quality approach and it works, but isn't... more>> over whelming turning it into a smut novel. The author strikes a good balance focusing mainly on the action. <<less

I finished reading this novel yesterday so I'm going to update my super long comment from before, make it more concise.

Firstly the story and plot. It's a good story and plot has many ups and downs also lot of holes but nothing unreasonable.

The MC in the beginning was the perfect anti hero that I liked. But as the story progresses he shows his true colours. He IS DUMB AS SH*T (Even Naruto the supposedly dumb guy is way better than him) he has no creativity or imagination and takes a... more>> lot of time and outside help to figure out the obvious sh*t. He's only smart when it's convenient to the plot. Other than that he is a disappointment.

Also this novel should be renamed to God of Luck because the MC is 90% dependent on his luck. I mean there were a good amount of slaughter and stuff from time to time but luck seems to be the only redeemable point of the MC at the end of the novel. Other than that he's nothing special.

This novel had such good potential but I don't know why the author screwed it up. I do feel regretful because it could have been so much better. Instead we got a rushed ending.... The author wrote two chapters at the end to cover up the MC's dumba** he could have atleast wrote one epilogue...

The novel is good to read. The cultivation system is easy to understand and there are no tough names for the cultivation levels. There are some loopholes that reduce the quality of the novel by multiple levels. The ending is rushed and the characters particularly the side characters and even main female leads are forgotten towards the end. Had the author not rushed the ending and instead extended the series by another 10-15 pages then the series ending could have been much better. So my rating is 3/5

Could've gone further, but so many awful signs in the first couple of chapters only spells disaster ahead. That said, it is a fairly interesting read in the beginning despite the bad signs, but sometimes first impression is everything. Plot armor device, corny, h**ny MC (not the type I like), and while others were busy hating the girl which I understand, the ridiculous currency count nearly floored me and ruined it.

Spoiler

1 black coin -> 100 purple coins is already pushing the token but realistic, but 1 purple coin -> 10k blue coins... imagine having to count all that out. And it's already talking about merchanting as a thing for the future. That's enough to tell me to get out while I'm ahead.

I personally really like this Novel so far Currently I am at c865 and like the overall view of the Universe that the Writer wanted to show us and cant wait to see where he will take us :)

The only thing I really dislike is that the Old Character seem to be of no real relevance. They seem to be put on the side and are only a small voice off the past if at all.

If you only view the Character that are currently involved with the MC then... more>> these are pretty well made. <<less

Not your typical Xianxia.

Slapping the the faces of younger masters, Check. A typical xianxia thing but this story does it right. Better to say it's more believable than random as*hole A shows up just to be slapped down by MC for cool points. In this story it is actually relevant.

Harem, Triple Check. The girls, and yes it is multiple, are far more than cardboard cutouts they have unique personalities and their own agendas which don't always agree with the MC.

Plot, there is one! The best thing about the plot of... more>> this story is the fact that it evolves along with the MC.

The world building is the only real detraction from this story as the world is divided up into beginner, intermediate and expert areas. Which adds a game like like feel which can sometimes jar you out of immersion.

Translation, overall they are doing a great job. A few typos, grammar and spelling errors, but essence of the story comes across. <<less

The novel is just to fill your time. It has a strange start, well the whole novel is strange tbh. I got nothing to say for the MC, he just a crazy perv, all in all. There is a lot of plot armor in this but that fine, I guess. If you are waiting for a new chapter of you favorite novel then then you can read this. But its good all things considered. If this had 200+ chapters out then this could have been a good main read.

I think this novel started out poorly but has gotten better over time. I didn't like how fast the MC's cultivation progressed, however, that does not bother me as the story has improved significantly. Definitely worth reading. Try to stick it out for 40 chapters before deciding on whether or not to give up on it.
