The army drillmaster Yu Xiaoxiao (玉小小) [aka “Little Jade”] transmigrated from a zombie apocalypse world into the body of the eldest imperial princess. On her first day, she got hitched to young General Gu Xinglang (顾星朗) at the lowest point of his life: unjustly accused, imprisoned, and tortured. Ever since then, the valiant girl who only knew how to eat, sleep, and fight zombies tied her destiny with the brave general who was loyal, patriotic, stern, and taciturn.

With the country weak and enemies on all sides, the imperial palace is full of spying concubines, sycophant officials, and a fatuous, self-indulgent ruler. Beyond the court lies the populace suffering in dire poverty. Faced with these circumstances, General Gu only hopes that he can help the imperial court restore its discipline and give peace to the people.

But his wife and princess says, “Your wish is too grand. Let’s go take over the kingdom ourselves instead!”

“…….” General Gu could only remain speechless.

How does one become a royal favored by the annals of history? Yu Xiaoxiao is convinced that a truly good princess is one who dotes on her husband!

I'M SQUELINGGGGG!!!! ASGFHJSJSNFLKLL.

This novel is indeed long, but I think it's worth it. The ML is soooo much better than Lou Zigui from UPX.

Spoiler

As usual, we have a hilarious MC here. The ML was a general who almost got sentenced to death with his clan. The MC surprised when she knew that the world also had zombies. The zombies were from a prestigious temple. The ML was also sent to the temple -to study-, and from some boys, only he managed to survive

[collapse]

By the way, to explain why there's a zombie tag

Spoiler

MC's and cos enemy is the most powerful temple in the continent. It's not just because the MC transmigated from a zombie world, but also because the temple Made zombies. Yep, you read it right, the temple tempted people with eternal life and experimented with many. They used Gus to extent one's life, except, not many people succed, so they had to perfect it again and again

ML is their most succesful 'product' but they didn't find out at first because ML was so normal. He was sent to study at the temple, and from dozens of kids, he and a couple kids were the only one's that survived. That's why his brother was so furious to their mother, because he fled from the temple knowing their cruelty, but his mother sent his lil' bro instead because she wanted to revive her husband.

[collapse]

By the way, I agree with some points of the negative reviews. If you want a smart FL then no, this is not for you. Especially, if you hate silly FLs, it's better to save your time for another read. Because this FL isn't a highly intellegent one, she's silly, just like the author's other novel, Unruly Phoenix

But, if you just want to relax your nerves, don't mind the FL's character because you just want some fun with a little bit of depth, then go ahead and try. You may like it

Also, I think we need a common ground for Little Plum's two translated novels. No, these two novels shoudn't be reead with a serious mind. DO NOT DO THAT, you are just stressing yourself. Yes, I agree that it's strange that she could retain her power, it's a loophole that is quite concerning, but in m humble opinion, it doesn't affect my reading experience. Never read a comedy novel with logic in mind. Sometimes we don't need logic to just laugh it off.

But well, everyone has different cup of teas. <<less

Unbearable.

The idea was interesting. A female from an apocalyptic world transmigrated in the body of the only daughter of the emperor. The ML also has an interesting backstory as the third son of the clan of traitors.

The idea of a wife pampering the husband is fluffy and all. However it was executed poorly.

Everyone is s*upid. I can understand the "straightforwardness" of the MC based from where she come from. But it's unbearable how s*upid she acts. As a person from an apocalyptic world, can she remain such a simpleton? People... more>> show how cunning they are to snatch resources from each other in an apocalyptic world. Yet MC don't think of the consequences and just does what she wants. Whatever the problem? Kill! Just kill. It was done in a supposedly funny way but it's plain childish for me.

There are a lot of loopholes like where she got the strength she has. It was not explained well. It talked about evolution of the human body and all but considering the fact that she transmigrated, that backstory was kind of useless. I mean, seriously? Her soul transferred in a body that can't even kill a chicken and there's an explanation about evolution? Clearly, she forgot that her evolved body is dead and not the one she's using. It would've been better if she said that she retained her experiences in the past to fight instead of explaining evolution to the readers.

The antogonists... they could've been more promising. But they're just half baked intelligent. The emperor is s*upid. I don't know how he ascended to the throne with his pig head.

Overall, this story set in ancient time won't work without a powerful PLOT ARMOR. And this story has a pretty thick one.

I don't know if this will get better in the future. I can't stand it anymore even if I want to read the fluff.

P.S.: I don't know why there's a need to put 'zombies' as tag to this novel. Zombies were only mentioned to remind readers where the MC came from but zombies did not appear from where I left of. Judging from the story type, zombies won't appear so I guess it's misleading to put that tag when the zombies are not relevant to the story. The zombies are just part of the backstory. But who knows, maybe there's a reason for the tag. Afterall, I barely read the story to know much. <<less

Okay, at this point, I think it's more fitting to switch the MC as the ML, since the MC really fits the ML's role XDD The MC is now the new ML (changing it to mean "Main Lover" for PC purposes). Sorry, old ML. It's not that you're not a good ML, but your wife is basically stealing all your ML flags. Actually, I think the ML fits better as being called the new MC (as in, the "Maiden Character") because he's such a "shy youth." XDDXDD

I've read UPX but... more>> think I like this story better. The ML (new MC) is certainly more likable so far and the story is an easier read. But if you like UPX, then you'll like this story. Recommend this for anyone who likes gag-type humor and an utterly shameless MC, er, I mean, new ML XDD. <<less

Irrealistic.

The idea would have been good if it wasn't for such poor character interactions and completely irrealistic settings. Like how brainless the emperor is and how no one mentioned the lightning bolts that would have actually been enough in ancient times to even condemn an emperor, let alone an imperial consort.

But the biggest problem is the MC, really not even a comic relief, it's just plain annoying.

I feel like the original princess is waaay more interesting, even without the mc's cheats, her story would have been way more exciting and... more>> believable.

In fact, compared to such an excellent original, it just makes the reader even more frustrated with such an MC. <<less

Thoroughly enjoying this story thus far. As always, don't approach a comedy and expect anything deep and ground breaking. This is silly and sweet. Keep your expectations right there and you'll never be disappointed.

I happen to like the main character. Some may say she's dense but it's really just a matter of culture. She's use to blunt survivalism, not political intrigue and fancy speech. Her values are vastly different as well. Its not her fault she doesn't understand half of what people are saying to her.

I like her decisive personality.... more>> She also has her priorities straight. She knows who to favor and who to zap. ? The ML is shaping up to be top notch as well! <<less

It starts off great. The MC came from a zombie infested place which explains her inhuman physical and other abilities as well as different mindset and.... non-existent EQ I suppose. It's funny to see her with her negative EQ making people want to cough blood and coincidentally pits her enemies to death. However, after 100 chapters or so, it slowly becomes more infuriating. There's no change to her EQ or IQ as she continues to do things that endangers her loved ones in an oblivious manner while everyone else attempt... more>> to clean up after her (Getting annoyed like "all I wanted to do was beat XXX to death! What do you mean I can't?!? And why the hell do I have to observe etiquette, is it edible?" it was understandable the first time, but not the 4th or the 5th time after people repeatedly attempt to explain things to her).

If you like superhumanly strong MC that pits her enemies (and loved ones) to death in an oblivious manner and a superficial read, this is a nice comedy to pick. This novel is NOT for you if you are the type that finds it unbearable how everyone's IQ lowers by ~100 points around the MC and how the MC never learns or gains any self-awareness. She is "my way only" with no attempt to adapt to the world she lives in. I'm not expecting her to get stronger or become a genius, but she talks crassly to everyone and solve everything in a brute force manner. After causing half dozen incidents that endangers her family and nation, she did not learn any lessons or gain any self-awareness from any of the incidents and treats everyone (loved ones and enemies) haphazardly.... It becomes unbearable after awhile. <<less

Omg, the new story from the writer of Unruly Phoenix Xiaoyao. I already read until chapter 5, so far the plot of the story is amusing and funny like UPX's plot. This MC is Yu Xiaxiao and transmigrated from Apocalypse era. Her emperor father is a s*upid man and loved blindly his consort Zhao who has a black heart and harm the MC and her little baby brother. However, the first day XY transmigrated to her new world, she already throw consort Zhao to the pond and jump from the... more>> window with her s*upid father emperor. And also her s*upid father emperor decreed that Xy to marry the third son of the Gu family. I still wait more chapter to understanding the plot. However, I believe this story will be same funny and amusing like UPX.

Thanks to the translator to bring this novel to all of the reader in Novelupdates. Com. <<less

This novel is extremely funny with a lot of slapstick and silly situations. If you are looking for a serious transmigration intrigue story, this is not it! This is a novel that does not take itself seriously whatsoever. The MC is super strong but dumb as hell, any face slapping she does is entirely by accident but still manages to be really fun to read. I love her to pieces. Honestly, this is like a monty python skit, haha.

Ah, another one of those c-novels that can divide the reader. I can say that I understand both perspectives, so I'll get into both here. I'll say it's 3/5 stars on plot and 5/5 on humour, so I'll settle with 4/5.

The Initial Premise: a woman from some zombie apocalypse dystopian future who was an army drillmaster and field medic* who woke up as a young princess in ancient-China analogue dynasty. Her old life is a tough world to live in and she hasn't got time for manners and fancy words.... more>> When she woke up, she received a full flashback (flash forward?) of what the princess' life would've been if she hadn't transmigrated in; the princess would grow up to be an empress that was mad with power who was burned in her palace. So, Yu XiaoXiao wants to avoid any bad end and watch out for the scheming people she remembered seeing in her flashback. Pretty straightforward.

*Considering that she managed to operate on someone successfully in her new life, I consider her more as a field surgeon.

Suspension of Disbelief Critical Points: Another thing you should know is that the beginning is built on a grab bag of c-novel tropes, and there are some latter plot developments that can break one's suspension of disbelief. I'll try to address that in general first before going into the specifics:

    1. C-novel zombie apocalypse often involve people mutating along with the zombies to get superpowers. She's the equivalent of Wonder Woman there and that power was carried over.
    2. The novel doesn't explain how the heck she was still her mutated/evolved self, but I'm writing that off as her spiritual/superpower core transmigrating with her and calling it a day. If this is too much unexplained power for you, skip this story.
    3. Following the above point, the MC is not just OP, but hella OP. I'm pretty sure she can barrel through a regiment of imperial guards, throwing them left and right without breaking a sweat. She's at demigod levels of strength here. The story is thus mainly built not on the suspense of survival in a cutthroat court, but on the humour of culture shock and confused people trailing on the wake of the chaos she left behind.
    4. She derailed many of the plots of the Zhao family (the family of the imperial concubine trying to get her out of the way). It does look a bit like deus ex machina, though in terms of tropes, I think it can also be considered as Xanatos Gambit Pile-Up. Imagine if you will, five people in a Mexican stand-off (guns pointed at each other), the situation is tense but nobody dares to shoot. Yu XiaoXiao would be the sixth person carelessly shooting one of them from a distance. Somebody gets shot and then everyone starts shooting everybody else without realising she did so and chaos ensues.
If the country wasn't so weak and the balance of power being balanced on a knife's edge, her mere interference wouldn't have easily triggered that level of chaos. That the country is weak is canon; it's the weakest of the six kingdoms of the mainland, with Zhuri being the strongest and the other four of medium power.

Yu XiaoXiao's motivations: If she's superpowered (hence the word 'heroic' on the title), why would she even bother with the kingdom, the palace and all the political crap? Why not leave this hive of scum and villainy and just live her life freely in jianghu, you ask? It's not like anyone could even reasonably stop her if she didn't want to be stopped. Especially when you take into consideration that she's a princess, and anyone trying to catch her would be too afraid of killing her to do anything untoward.

If you want to know why she does the things she do, it's because she actually cares about people. She remembered that the original (OG) Princess' fiance'was from a military family who was wrongly accused of treason. She heard that Gu Xinglang was a good guy and that was all she cared about. No need to break off her engagement. It wasn't like all the guys the OG princess slept with later were anywhere close to good. The other officials in the court took the momentum she began to praise the emperor for being wise and broad-minded into still upholding the engagement because they wanted to save the faithful family which had raised generals. The foolish emperor couldn't find it in himself to go against the wave and acquiesced.

Post-wedding, given half the chance, she'd have dragged her currently-injured husband and her baby seventh-brother and just ran away from the kingdom. But then someone told her that it would leave the Gu family exposed to their enemies machinations; they've been stripped of their military post, the only reason they have any face at all and protection from consort Zhao's schemes is because the third son is now the prince-consort! So she stayed.

She probably thought she could fight off anyone trying to kill her new family easily. (She's not exactly wrong there...)

Is It s*upidity or...?: Even outside topics of battles and fights (which she certainly knew a lot about) I don't think Yu Xiaoxiao is actually that s*upid, even is she's not versed with the subtle jabs in court language or other related courtesies. She has her particular kind of low cunning in play.

Notice that she does realise that Consort Zhao is too wily and has her imperial father wrapped around her little finger that anything she say against Consort Zhao would just slide away like water off teflon. What she said at the time the Zhao family was in hot water was something like 'You have many women waiting on you, aren't you bored pressing yourself against the same woman over and over?' Just because she's crude doesn't mean she couldn't jab back and try to redirect the emperor's attention from Consort Zhao to other women. Of course, she succeeded better than expected because her brother-in-law was present here and could easily translate her sentiments into court language that everyone present could understand.

When she was consoling her brother that was about to be sent away as hostage, she didn't give him platitudes like 'everything's going to be alright'. She told him that he had to hang on to the thigh of the most powerful person taking care of him, which was the prince from Zhuri who was taking him hostage. It was actually a good survival strategy, especially since he can't depend on the protection of anyone in their home country. Considering that the hostage taker wanted to raise a prince that's more predisposed to him, he'd certainly be nice.

Whether Yu Xiaoxiao raised an enemy or an ally this way is still something we'd see much later in the story. What it does, though, is make the Zhuri prince thinks she's friendly to him, and thus make him friendlier to her (not that she notices that much...) and more intent on moving against her enemies.

TL:DR: Woman with superpowers from zombie apocalypse wakes up as a princess, gets married to a wounded general and kicks the ass of anyone who annoys her/tries to cross her. She creates chaos just by reacting to other people's plots simply because the way she thinks is so different as to be an out-of-context problem for many people in-story.

Her in-laws try smooth her movements by guesstimating what she means and moving themselves politically with her. She picks up male admirers without realising it (not that surprising since they were usually the original princess' lovers). Her enemies gets frustrated because mere force isn't enough to stop her (or even keep her out of their houses! She jumps over the palace's walls without blinking, even), to the readers' entertainment. And yes, she probably has a godly level of luck too.

Basically, the entire story sounds like one Stephen Chow's crazier comedy movies. If that sounds too much like a farce than something entertaining to you, skip this story. Otherwise, it's an amusing ride. <<less

Excellent fluffy and heroic read so far. MC is a super strong drillmaster from a zombie apocalypse (who also knows some basic field surgery and medicine) who transmigrates into the body of the only legitimate princess in an ancient Chinese-ish country. She's got her priorities straight, villains get beat up, and good guys get rescued by her. Other countries and their strongmen and politics are also introduced, so I hope the story continues to be this good for all 1537 chapters. I really like the heroic MC, world building and... more>> fun secondary characters. The ML is a cutie-pie. Lots of little comedic moments. Translation is also excellent. The plot is refreshing and exciting - the only similar storyline I've read is Unruly Phoenix Xiaoyao, which is also the author's work. <<less

This is so funny and unique. The MC wakes up in the body of the Emperor's daughter after having survived a zombie apocalypse and she's retained all her stats, which sure makes things interesting. So far I like the ML, but it's too early to tell what their relationship will be like or even where this story will go.

I enjoyed this so much I actually checked this author's other translated work, kind of regret it. Very similar concept, MC transmigrates after surviving a zombie apocalypse with all her stats. This is funny. The MC resolves everything with her fists and she's not that smart. Her heart might be in the right place, but she doesn't think before jumping into the fire.

This novel is AMAZING. Cannot recommend enough. Tomboyish, OP female x intelligent, weak (? So far) male, with LOTS of comedy. I can't stop laughing every chapter. Lots of fortunate "misunderstandings" that keep the plot rolling, with tons of humor packed in and a few tender moments too. This is similar to Unruly Phoenix Xiaoyao, except this came out before UPX so it's more original, and it's more enjoyable than UPX.

If you can’t maintain a lightheartedness for a long time and read this novel with minimal brain power then it’ll just annoy you to death lol. The MC is quite straightforward in her relationships which means the romance progresses at a nice pace but apparently in this novel also means she basically has no social skills and lack any sort of critical thinking skills because she’s too lazy or she just doesn’t care. She also doesn’t care about the consequences and the only reason why she’s not dead is because... more>> her dad is dumb if not dumber than her and also she’s crazy strong with lightening powers? The ML is cute. This is a fun read if you don’t mind plot holes and enjoy MC’s shameless shenanigans. <<less
