I enjoyed the earliest chapters, but dropped it ard ch 90ish.

I got tired with all the excessive arguments, shouting match, and possessive aggressive behavior, the selfishness and the going with flow cowardice.

But mostly, the arguments..... geeezus, reading all those were making me headached. I dont know, I just got tired reading heated going no where just circling around and coming back the same argument coupling.

Tho the shou ex gong...... his character is too ridiculously adapted (?) with the undeveloped cliche shou. Yet he is or was gong... more>> before....

And the spoiled gong...... just imagine a spoiled brat going into his first heat. <<less

Complicated feelings about this book. Engaging characters, and the story interested me enough that I didn't want to put it down. But,

I give it 4 stars based on how it was written and the story development.

I decided to read this novel because of the manhua. I had only read a few chapters but the concept of business men going from enemies to lovers drew me in. Unfortunately it didn’t live up to expectations. The story had a lot of potential but at the end of the day it feels like there was a love development.
Looking at the 2 mc’s neither of them have great personalities. Throughout the story YY only lives to dominate GQP. It goes from dominating him out of intense hatred to dominating him because it has become his obsession. His actions never feel like love. In the beginning GQP only wants to dominate and humiliate YY. GQP actually does go through changes and character development in the end unlike poor YY who I don’t hate at all.
The story was still ok up until I got to their first se*ual encounter (ra*e). Which actually almost made me give up on the story completely. This is not because of it being ra*pe but because the way it was described was so hateful that I couldn’t imagine how they could possibly move on to falling in love from something like that. Surprisingly enough the story got better for a while but then later went back to being a hot mess.

Then we have the introduction of the second male lead. I know all 2ml’s tend to be portrayed as the better choice but the author outdid themselves with this one. The fact that GQP is totally uninterested and not swayed in any way by him is even more unbelievable.
Anyway. I don’t want to leave any spoilers. I’m not trying to persuade anyone but it’s definitely not a 5 star story. If you’re interested then read it. I don’t think it’s as bad as some of the reviews say it is.

I hate the thought of being forced into a relationship you don’t want. However here, we can see how Gu Qing Pei’s heart change from time to time. Though Yuan Yang’s obsession is killing me each chapters I still found him interesting for some reasons.

I actually finish this book almost 2 years ago, but here I am, reading it again and finally leaving my thoughts here.

Ok it was an entertaining read. It kept me wanting to finish the novel though there are parts of the he novel that are annoying and repetitive. For example the author kind of glorified ML raping and s*xual harassing MC on multiple occasions. Saying things like MC was was so angry, embarrassed, humiliated, and ashamed but he also wants it/ likes it/ no one else can satisfied him except for ML. This just left me confused. The star rating piss me off. This one is good, don't be fooled. This is a very good story that upholds morality and respect to one's partner and consent😃 My cup of🍵

I watched the drama first and then read the novel, obvious reasons that I was expecting something from 'beloved enemy'. To tell you the truth I didn't wanted to write the review but someone poked me today on one of comments of this novel for being insensible and here I am, to ramble my outburst.

Storyline:

ML's father appoint MC as not only director of his one of the company but also a teacher for ML. MC and ML dislike each other very much, trying... more>> every possible way to irritate and win over another. MC cut offs ML's pocket I mean money makes him work for the company and himself as a driver, assistant. At some point because of some miscalculation ML physical assaults MC. and now this should have been a reason for revenge and other stuff but what we see is MC and ML becoming f**k buddies. Then comes the second lead unknowingly becoming a cupid for our CP.. Now MC starts to have some feelings for ML and ML starts to become obsessed and possesive. And then comes family drama. Misunderstanding and lack of communications, their previous dislike for each other which later turned into hate from MC's side well after the reveal of s*x tape and photos. Then there is time gap, Fights and lot of things and then at the end they get together. (It's been long time I read this one I can't remember everything neither I wanna write it down)

Characters:- (what I like and not about them)

1. ML (YY)

He is ignorant, lazy, childish too, wanna play by his own rules well expected from a boy with silver spoon.

Later he changed into possesive, obsessive, jealous, demanding person.

The crime on his head is raping MC and keeping that video and that's his downfall and nothing will justify his actions.

ML was like little kitten, wanted to lazily live his life but then came a very intriguing wool ball which made him feel something he never felt and he wanted to have that ball.

I really liked ML and felt so sorry for him. His love was so vast and full of passion and actually MC didn't deserve it.

2. MC (GQP) :

A very smart, intelligent, hardworking, business minded, self made, responsible person. Well if I have to say in terms of the worldly affairs that guy is living his life. But when it comes to relationship and emotions he is dumb. Yes he knows how to repay and be kind but he is not capable to understand another person's feeling and that's absolutely fine but then he should stay the hell away from those things

He is one of the most annoying and irritating MC I've ever read in my all reading journey. Because he don't treat ML right. I understand his pov, I really do who would treat their rapists nice right? But this man has lost his mind. When he could have cut off ties with ML, could have sued him or better kill him (not really) he becomes f*ck buddies with him. And now that's fine as well but here's the thing he is older than ML he can read people's expression, so he must had seen ML's change. ML's obsession and possessiveness. But still he didn't felt the need to have proper conversation with him. Either cut him off or be with him. This is after the reveal of those photos okay.. he could have done so many things If he didn't wanted to be with ML. But no he chose to be around ML and torture him when he knew ML won't be able to handle him.

He left him without telling him anything for 2 years. And even if ML is full of toxicity don't he have feelings? Just imagine the only person you want to change for and live with is leaving you behind without giving you a proper reason.

Even after coming back MC was dumb head. He could see changes in ML but now he will remember all the good times with him but won't express his real feelings. He is not able to see the insides of ML, his real feelings his emotions.

And he dared to say that he won't change he will never change and ML needs to change. This really pissed me off. You either both change or no one needs to change how can you expect only one of them to change??

He can't express, can't commit, can't see the reasoning, he is self centred but will hate ML for wanting to be with him.

I understand him but I dislike him way too much when it comes to ML.

3. Side characters:

MC's parents were so full of warmth and loving.

ML's parents well they were typical stereotypical real parents, disagreeing first then eventually has to bend their back infront of their kids. But still hated that father for what he did to MC.

Siblings were cute. There weren't many scenes with them but they seemed sensible special the little brother.

Second ML: god dude wasn't in love with MC and moreover he was married so nope nada he wasn't in the race. But he was tolerable at start but then become little annoying.

Overall, let me say the whole reason I did not like the novel is because of MC. ML deserves lot!! His love was beyond understanding for a straight and self centred MC.

Okay I'm not cold hearted or insensitive. But there are things that made me at MC a lot.

First of all he should have fudging done something after the r*pe and that tape scandal I was mad so so mad. God I know you get scared, about people's opinion and all that but this was hard that he just ignored it, like nothing happened.

Second, falling in love with someone having problem/disorder may seem magical and easy but continuing to love them is hardest.

Because first they don't love that easily and once they do they becomes very different like ML for example possesive, obsessed that's why continuing to love and be with them is hard.

PS. Maybe that's why hate those people who are like 'i can fix them'... But what if they don't need fixing? What if they just want acceptance and love. And even if they need fixing, can you do that? Like can you commit to that process? Because let me that process will be like walking on fire.

when you decide to be with someone like ML you'll need to be ready to walk in hell to feel the chaos. But MC, no that guy wanted to change ML bruh nope you can't do that without changing yourself, without being true to yourself and to that person who is obsessed with you.

I've been using novelupdates for months now, maybe even a year. Today I registret to rate this 5 stars!! If you are not sensitive with the tags (exemple r*pe) then I recomend this novel!! Fun, sad, angsty, fluffy, smuts and more >.< full of emotions Q.Q sorry for my bad english >.<

That was a rough ride...

Surprisingly, I expected it to really hit me harder but I guess I have read several books that are angsty that I just got used to it. And because I read Are You Addicted and Counter Attack before this which were also angsty. So maybe that alleviated the angst of this.

Because of some reviews, I thought I wouldn't enjoy this but I actually did. Every chapter got me hooked that I kept reading.

I have always thought that we really don't have the right to... more>> "judge" one's feeling esp. when it comes to love. Of course both MC and ML are toxic but they suit each other. They bring out the best and worst and who are we to say that they're better off without each other.

Characterization

MC - As I said, both MC and ML are toxic. As for MC, he's smart and I believe that smart people tend to manipulate situations. They tend to mentally analyze this and that to favor them.

ML - I think that the author should have just not included that he's in the army. He really did not possess any qualities, the behaviors at that, of a former soldier. He's more of a spoiled heir that was sent abroad than an heir that got discharged from the army.

The plot is relatively simple. It's not new but it's not so common too. What I want to point out is the 2-year separation that happened. I think it would be better if the author included the happenings in MC's life in that 2 years and not just the "2 years later..."

Other than these, I think it's a good read to pass time. Definitely "re-readable". <<less

The story is OK, but the author's writing style doesn't really make me feel much emotions, I miss a certain depth (in their relationship and the characters) also there are no memorable (side) characters in this book and the writing or story lacks a 'spark' and therefore I can not cry or feel for the characters much.

I also wanted moments between MC and ML that make my heart go 'doki doki'. I don't mind if the CP bicker, or if characters are toxic and possessive, but they have to be... more>> written well or else you get a two dimensional character that repeats the same thing and words again and again which I believe YuanYuang is....I just miss a kind of subtlety or layering to him. His character and dialogues are too over the top sometimes.

The story is good, I just don't know why it doesn't really touch my heart. I don't cry (as usual) when I read this, I just feel amused with their antics. It's a good read, ML is crazy clingy/possesive, but I like such trope so...

The only thing makes me rate this story 2 star, just because the last 10s chapters..

I read this story, well aware the r*pe tag.. Reading some comments, I know it will be smart MC + overbearing ML, which usually I like.

But this story really makes me drown in rage and internal bleeding..

The supposed smart MC, become muddle headed and such pushover person in front of ML..
And the ML really just a bastard!

I keep on reading, really hoping for ML redemption arc. But NONE! He is still a whole hooligan. Only in extra chaps, he could actually become a decent human..

Whenever there's a hope that they can talk like a civilized person regarding their relationship, our sperm filled brain ML just said: "Don't provoke me or I'll f*ck you", "You piss me off, I really wanna f*ck you", "You're more honest when I f*ck you", and all other similar sentence.

I really cannot bear the s*xual harassment (physically and verbally) through out the whole story..
Like, ML's dialogue towards MC is 80% s*xual harassment.. What a jerk

Although this novel if full of angst and there's r*pe as well. I actually liked it. Like I ended up binge-reading it for two days. Beloved Enemy and Addicted are quiet similar so I ended up liking this one too and it one of my highly recommended novel to read.

Beautiful story. This is my 2nd real; the 1st was before watching the drama. The drama only capture about 20% of the story and many parts got distorted. I hope Taiwan will do an adaption of this in its the full BL glory. Thank you.

I feel this novel deserves a better rating. The story is well written and pace of the story is really good. Love the banters between the couple especially on the second half of the story. Very fluffy! And lots of smut too. I am adding this to my favorites list!

I like this novel more than Intoxication. As In this novel MC is shown as a very mature and indifferent person who even having feelings towards ML will make decisions rationally and practically. But he do changes for ML in the second half of novel. He used his all life investment to help ML complete a big project without caring for gains or losses. And ML also changes from his obsessive selfish self in to a understanding and caring person who can do anything for MC.

I started reading this after watching the extremely good drama (beloved enemy) that was based on it. So far it seems that this is one of the few cases where the movie is better than the book...

I suppose unlike the drama this novel is directed towards a very specific audience, it being very obviously BL from thee start (this element is subtle in the drama and develops more into a bromance later on whith neither characters ever really coming out of the closet), plus overbearing ML and shrewd MC taken... more>> to extremes in the novel (while the characters in the drama version although distinctly based on the Novel seem a lot more human and thus are more relatable).

So far I'll give this story an average rating, because it does remind me a lot of the other BL stories though may rise depending on character development and other elements of the story. <<less

Absolutely loved this, read this few years ago and still remember it and like the novel, characters, plot, the drama and everything. 10/10 re-read worthy!

little angsty... lots of downs and ups in the relationship... even though the relationship base is not started on good but I enjoyed it. The ML is very caring and sticky sticky... both of them tried hard to maintain the relationship when needed even though there are heart broken movements in between... overall worth to read...

I give this novel 4.7 stars just because it is almost that amazing but after reading Sissy and Winner Takes All, it is just a bit tough to complete. Overall this novel is heavy on a drama side, s*x scenes are definitely better than in Winner Takes All, but romance is where I take 0.3 points away from 5 stars. Definitely highly recommend reading this novel.
