Mixed feelings about this one tbh. It's all very much cliche but bc I had a lot of time on my hands therefore I still muddled through it. It's not too bad and translation is also okay, but the ending was honestly a bit rushed.

ML and FL are nice but the supporting characters got on my nerves a lot. Fl's 'best friend' made me want to put the book down. Even at ML and fl's wedding, she tried to make himself more flamboyant than the bride. She was constantly jealous of ML and fl's relationship. Lol is this really what a 'best friend' should have?

This is really a super fluffy story 😭😭

I wonder why I was hesitant to read this story. This is really very light and fun 😭😭

the character may not be perfect. but they are really cute together.

... more>> and the funny thing is that they got together very late, if I don't forget, it was even close to chapter 70+, but why don't I even feel that this isn't a slowburn story, because this story is really packed with epicness...

Lots of conflict, but not in an annoying way, resolved quickly and epically, and full of entertainment.

A light read and really worth enjoying 🥹🥹 <<less

The story is good, it is well translated as well. The characters are also okay. The first arc of the novel is funny and fluffy at the same time, climax squeezes your heart, just at the 2nd arc, it wouldve been nice if there is more skinship to the two characters. I like the families behind the ML and MC. Overall its a binge type of novel.

Simple and cute fluff. I wish a few more supernatural stuff happened or that the female lead had more ambition because by the end the novel becomes a bit boring. It is realistic in the sense that why work when you have enough money to enjoy life. Lol.

Don't expect anything mind blowing or gut wrenching, it's a simple romance novel. Even the one major point of conflict was resolved by a simple apology.

The story is quite good. It's short, heartwarming, and very cute

Spoiler

It's a pity that Mo Zhen and Li Yan got together only nearing the end, in my opinion, it would've been better if they had got together a bit earlier

another fluff story by chestnut!! Real cute MCs and the friends are funny as well! Not much drama going on which is nice, it's mostly centred around the fluff.

An okay story.

MC as a ghost: funny, quirky, active, has a personality

MC as a human: Dumb, clueless, dense

Read until MC stays as ghost, its enjoyable. After that it's pure nonsense.

what a fun read!

fluffy romance of film emperor and Miss ghost.

My favorite part was the first half of the novel, it got a bit boring afterwards but that should not stop you from reading it if you are into sweet romance with zero angst.

This is a 3.5 / 5 🌟 for me. I liked the whole ghost timeline. They're both funny and sweet in their own way especially that scene in Goreme. I felt the pain and the longing in that scene. The sadness and the feeling of not wanting to part. I would've liked the whole ghost timeline to stretch more. To dig deeper into me instead of moving on to the next part. I just have this feeling that the more they stretch it the more I would've feel frustrated and... more>> pained, the more impact it would've had. Both of their relationship at that timeline was wholesome. They couldn't touch each other but they both care and it shows.

Ah Yao has this silly type of character. She's pampered and inexperienced in life and I guess that is the reason why she had the guts to act in a certain way. I wouldn't call her spoiled but just pampered and sheltered.

Mo Zhen is your typical cold-to-everybody-but-soft-for-FL kind of ML. Filthy rich. Overly talented. Achiever. Like I said, he's the typical ML, possessive and undeniably insecure. By that, I don't mean with regards to his looks because he's self aware on that part— however, in terms of his part in the relationship it's a bit questionable. He makes the decision for the both of them without even asking FL. He even outright stated that his will is the FL's will. Even if Ah Yao agrees with him most of the time, I still feel bad for her for not being able to decide for her own. Girly can't even drive no matter how she begs to learn. I just want to facepalm the whole time.

Now, the following sentiments contains spoilers so read at your own risk:

Spoiler

I hate the part where they both didn't clear up their official relationship. It's just Ah Yao asking him about who he meant on the red carpet then they're like automatically together. b*tch??? Just like that? But they both kind of don't act together? I really need the part where they both recognize and acknowledge their relationship even if it's just on the both of them. Also the marriage part. Boy seriously needs to step up. HE DOESN'T ASK FL AT ALL. He just decided that he wants to marry her so he will without even asking for FL's opinion about it. It's also the same with Ah Yao getting offers to model. She have to always depend her life decisions on Mo Zhen. Uggggh.

Also, like I mentioned earlier, I like the whole ghost timeline and I would've loved for it to stretch and dig deeper into us. I like it to hurt us more and give us more impact. But the only impact I can think of is really just the Goreme trip. That's all. After that, the present timeline, it's kind of boring.

To be honest, the present timeline felt a bit rushed. It's understandable that Mo Zhen already like her so much since his memory of his interactions with ghost Ah Yao is there. But for Ah Yao, who just woke up and lost the memory from the ghost timeline, for her to just go along and depend on him for almost all of her important life matters is just a bit... it sounds unreasonable. I understand that after she woke up she'd feel some sort of 'connection' with Mo Zhen but for her to have that illogical amount of trust and faith for someone who's supposed to be a stranger, who's just her boss... That needs more work.

Okay, maybe what I'm trying to say is that overall, the story lacks that 'oomph' factor. It needs more. It doesn't seem convincing.

If you're the kind who is not that particular about details, someone who's just looking for a light read then go ahead and try this out. However, for people who sweats on details and more into drama about relationships, then this is not for you. <<less

Really liked the story idea and pacing. Also love the interaction between FL and ML.

A bit predictable but I still like how it's written!

Spoiler

Side stories were a bit weird though. I don't really support the idea of 'my son cannot kiss my wife' and being all possessive jealous over a kid. It's just weird to me.

Was also weird how FL seems to undergo personality/brain power change after regaining her memories.

And when reading this somehow I recall all the cannon fodder counterattack QT that I read and ML and FL here are practically the typical that get counterattacked lol T_T

[collapse]

Other than these points I really enjoyed the story. Mid to end of the story I just can't bear to read quickly because it's ending so soon =3=

This is my first time reading Chestnut's novel so definitely gonna read more in the future! Seems like there are a lot interesting characters in this story and maybe some of them are available in other stories (?) <<less

While this story lack of sense, have many loopholes, bland and quite unstable, it still one of the best for a mind-numbing kind of story. The humor is fresh and I laughed a lot through this novel.

It just that, the state of FL being a ghost probably better that being a human. Like she can't touch anything, but she can move/fly over things, summon wind, even cooking and type on the keyboard ??? She can surf the internet, posses someone or animal so she can eat, have abundant of energy, even if she tired, she can just sleep, and her energy is recharged. Moreover, after she acquainted with a female ghost, she can even change her clothes ????

Like she can literally do everything except touching.

If being a soul wanderer while I'm in comatose state grant me this advantage, I probably stay in this state forever.

First of all, this is my first time reading one of Chestnut's stories, and as it was easy to read and kind of cute, I will probably read more of her works in the future. However, I can't compare it to any of her works right now so I will simply go with my basic impression.

This is a simple and sweet story with entertainment industry related Chinese novel quirks we all know very well, lots of social media and forum wars, diehard fans and scandals, a conceited superstar ML with... more>> too much pride, and an incredibly thickheaded and dorky martial arts hero MC. All in all, it was a fun read and I kind of like the characters. It could be better though, and I will be talking about that through the rest of my review.

Spoiler

It started out very simple and kept going like that till the end. It was fun to see their interactions as the MC was extremely blunt and kind of shameless, while the ML was very narcissistic and irritable. He was initially very annoyed with the MC invading his personal space. However, as she became a constant and regular part of his everyday life and he got accustomed to all the commotion she was causing, he eventually recognized how much she meant to him. However, she was a ghost after all, and he had to let go of her sooner or later. Thus, he didn't want to hold on to her as he would end up being the one hurting when he lost her. Instead, he chose to suppress his feelings and learn to cope with their inevitable separation. This led to him wanting to create pleasant memories with her for the last time as a separation gift to her, when in fact he just wanted something left of her, something he can hold on to and reminiscence after they separate.

I think it would be nice to see the ML reveal how much he appreciates her being with him and assisting him through his everyday struggles as a fun and interesting companion to the MC when she was a ghost. He kept acting arrogant and uncaring till the last moment they separated. It is also possible that he realized his feelings only after she left him.

I have complicated feelings for the MC. While she was funny and adorable as a shameless ghost, she got very boring when she came back to her body. Her dorkiness and dim-wittedness were very cute, and I like clumsy and clueless MCs. However, the one who progressed their relationship for the whole thing was the ML, and it disappointed me to see the MC so passive. She didn't even tell him, not even once, that she liked him! Even after the ML confessed to her on a red carpet! It was obviously a tacit understanding between them, but I really wanted to see them confirm their feelings clearly with each other!

After their separation, as the ML acknowledged his own feelings, he still had the strong conviction that their lives wouldn't ever cross each other again. Piao Piao is to be commended from this point as she helps him notice certain things he couldn't with his arrogance. Him pursuing the MC was very fluffy and cute though, and it was the only thing that had kept me going to finish the story. He was passionate for sure, and it wouldn't hurt to see more passion from both sides!

Overall, I like happy endings and the ending was nice for this one, but as I am saying this for the last time: it would be way better if we could see more of their interaction and fluff! It was kind of fluffy, but more fluff is always a good idea when it comes to stories like this.

[collapse]

I would recommend this to anyone who is looking for a light read with cliché jokes and "simpleminded MC x arrogant and passionate ML". <<less

This is definitely my favorite novel from Chesnut's work. The story kinda reminds me of Reese Witherspoon's movie "Just Like Heaven" but only a bit part, which is: "a coma girl's spirit lost her memories and wandered around the only man who can see and hear her". The spirit in this is story is MC while the man who could see her is ML.

MC has a cheerful personality but also a bit shameless and innocent at the same time. While ML is your typical tsundere male lead: cold, indifferent, but... more>> has a warm heart (towards MC only of course). ML was blessed (or cursed?) with special eyes which could see a wandering soul of a death people. One day, he accidentally saw MC in front of his house. After knowing the fact that ML could see her, MC shamelessly clinged herself to ML since that day.

You could guess for the rest. They slowly fall in love with each other but temporarily separated when MC went back to her body and lost her memories of her time with ML. But don't worry, because like other Chesnut's novel:

Spoiler

it's a happy ending.

[collapse]

I feel pity for 2nd ML though. He loved MC for years and he always stayed by MC's side when she's in coma but he still couldn't move MC's heart.

Spoiler

Well, at least he gets together with MC's best friend in the end although I think their relationship is a bit forced by the author.

Almost all of the main characters in this story is shameless lol (except FL's bestfriend). At first, FL was the shameless one and kept on attaching herself to ML as a ghost. But rather than being annoying, she was more of the cute and dumb kind of clingy and she fits the ML's aesthetics so the ML silently and gradually fell for her. After knowing that FL was 2ndML's (ML's bestfriend) long-time crush, ML was planning on giving up on FL. However, FL straightforwardly rejected 2ndML so ML started chasing... more>> FL shamelessly by setting her up into his traps of love lol.

Spoiler

I did not think that what the ML did was bad since the FL really actually liked him even without her memories. Also, he really didn't force her but instead just wanted to see her reactions to the things he does for her. Their relationship just progressed faster after FL regained her memories. It was just funny to see the once cold and ascetic ML become very rogue and shameless haha

Also, 2ndML shamelessly got together with FL's bestfriend lol. I didn't like how he did it, but it can't be helped that FL's bestfriend agreed on being with him in the end.

Read until Ch.66. The rest of chapters were dead links, so I read the poorly machine translated chapters at Wattpads. At least I have idea on how it ended ^^

This was my 2nd novel I read from the universe. Overall, it's a bit boring. The plot was shallow and the characters were 2-dimensional. I force myself to finish reading it.

Spoiler

The hot air balloon story was definitely the best arc, but afterwards, the story was pretty much predictable.

This is so cute, I laughed a lot! Lots of fluffiness and also shamelessness, hours reading all of the long chapters was worth it!

I don't really agree with one of the reviewer actually. The MC always treated the second male lead as her brother, and never been more than that. It's very normal for her to reject him.

The storyline and the plot is thoroughly cute, the MC is adorable and foolish meanwhile the ML is shamelessly cute!

the part when he knew she was leaving and would forget him. I definitely spilled some tears during the touching hot air balloon/ holiday scenes.

It's not something I've not read before and both MC and ML are the standard cookie cutter types from this sort of romance novels. But, that doesn't make it any less enjoyable!

I have to admit though I feel like I liked the second ML more, even though I usually never do. <<less
