The Villain Has Something to Say

As the head disciple of the number one sect in the world, Luo Jianqing had a brilliant reputation. He was the most respected senior brother of his junior brothers and sisters: the last disciple of the cultivation world’s number one cultivator, Luo Jianqing greatly respected his master’s teachings, not crossing his limits by even half a step.

Afterwards…… he was stabbed to death just like that by the main character with his sword. His master’s sword.

Luo Jianqing: “……”

The heavens wants me dead, yet I refuse to die! See if the will of the heavens is more fearsome, or if the will of my sword is more stubborn!

Wu Yin: “Jianqing, I have something to say to you.”

Luo Jianqing: “Master, I also have something to say to you.”

Wu Yin: “… you speak first?”

Luo Jianqing: “You speak first.”

Wu Yin: “I like you.”

Luo Jianqing: “I want to top you.”

Wu Yin: “……”

Still on the process of reading this. But
Spoiler

why can't Mo Qiu just end up with Luo Jianqing, ah? I love their dynamic much more that the main CP. MQ is such a shameless bastard, a cute and shameless bastard. And the two have the surname Mo and Luo, how come they're not married yet lah?

I Mtl'ed this to around chapter forty or higher and it's sooo gooood!!! Great plot so far and the MC's and ML's interactions are just adorable. But it hurts when MC has flashbacks of his previous life.

Also, the love scenes are pretty g8 and MC seems to like riding

This novel, you won't regret reading! Plot line is superb following the adventure of the 'heaven's' chosen villain (the mc) to conquering his innocent tsundere master (the ml) ~~\ (>◇<) /~♡☆ and backfiring any opportunities the 'heaven's' chosen protagonist is meant to have (lolol). Translation quality-wise... excellent! Especially when it comes to describing the scenery which I personally look forward to the most. Thanks for your hard work the translation team!!

The side characters are more likeable than the main characters (orig protagonist AKA antagonist, MC orig anta AKA person we are following now). There are also things that raise some red flags from my feminist side (or just my anti-discrimination side) (I'm a a man). Too lazy to say more.

This novel came from the writer of rebirth of supermodel, king of classical music and superstar aspirations. If you've read those novels then you'd likely be familiar with the author's writing style.

First of all the premise of this novel was based on rebirth and misunderstanding.

MC was an antagonist senior brother from a stallion novel. Hewas stabbed to death by ml's most prized sword by "protagonist" so in his mind, ML doesn't care much about him. (It was a stallion novel so it won't be likely they wrote about mc's feeling... more>> about ML and vice versa)

Mc's depressing thoughts was unlike author's other novels where they're also reborn from being killed but not by something related to ML. So you must bear in mind that it could be agonizing reading this novel. But a HE is guaranteed.

As of author's writing style, they tend to delve deeper to things they wrote. This could be seen in king of music where they delved about music and interpretations. For those who isn't used to read cultivation novels, this novel could bore them since it will seem that author was blathering about things. But keep in mind that cultivation world is an entirely different world with entirely different systems. So it may feel like they're doing a lot of info dumps.

MC was written as a green tea bitych while ML was your usual all powerful cultivator. What's interesting was author poked to the realm of stallion novel protagonist golden finger child of heaven and how MC (and by extension ML) deal with it so MC can avoid his untimely death.

I find a disturbing comment worth noted. Spoiler for 37-39.

Spoiler

at a point MC dreamed about his life with other names (chinese believe in the power of name) and some of them ended with MC as mortal marrying girls hence the comment said it's tr*sh. In fact author was trying to to stress the importance of the name and the resulting karma within. Which was more realistic because he didn't end up with ML and didn't have any karma with ml. In actuality it has been said by mc's mom how they were "cursed" by mc'sname karma. And by no means MC was groomed so he became bent. In fact, I believe MC was idolizing ML and later fell for him (it was a bit of childish love but later turns into something more). Also MC believe ML didn't care for him and ML didn't show ambiguous feelings for him.

[collapse]

Over all it is a good BL novel despite how cliche the ML is. Author didn't write cultivation as a padding to the BL plot hence the story feels fabulous to me. It feels like those stallion novels but no harem and just BL.

Recommended to those who like cultivation and BL novel. <<less

What an absolute gem this novel turned out to be! I went in thinking that it would be similar to SVSSS, then I started reading and I soon changed my mind. It's more similar to The Devil Venerable Also Wants to Know ! This was a very nice surprise for me, since I love The Devil Venerable to bits. Once I started making this comparison in my mind, the bar quality got quite high, so I tried to reserve judgement for this novel, but the more the story progressed, the... more>> more surprised I was to find out that not only it holds up to Devil Venerable, it may even surpass it?!

Plot: 5/5

Honestly what an amazing story this is, the author's galaxy brain truly shines and doesn't disappoint. By keeping an extremely close attention to all the sub-plots opened here and there, the author managed to keep the plot together very tightly and round up all the loose ends nicely. The happy ending is the culmination of this process and it really pays off. It's always SO fvcking satisfying when an author pulls off a complicated plot successfully, and I love to see it. What surprised me the most in terms of plot, this is a progression novel. If any of you has been reading CN, KR or JP novels for at least a few months you might have already come across this genre, it's also called level-up novel, when the protagonist steadily powers up until they reach ultimate power. For example, Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint, Everyone Else is a Returnee, Only I Level Up. TBH, I'm not the greatest fan of this genre because 1) the progression mechanism tends to detract from other aspects of the plot which I'm usually more interested in, 2) the progression plot is sometimes detached from the main plot, whether this be mystery, romance, or horror, and I don't like that, and 3) I think it's too game-y and should not be used outside of e-sports novels or novels set within game universes. BUT! The author did a very good job and created a progression mechanism that is actually tied instrincally to the plot, and since the main plot is really freaking interesting, by correlation the progression mechanism becomes interesting too. Well done author!

Characterisation: 5/5

Boy was I surprised by this aspect of the story too! In the beginning I thought the protagonist was an indifferent/cold personality type, but he soon turned out to be quite the fiery rebel! And so funny! LJ's cold, even villain-ish outer demeanor is simply the result of his high cultivation level and of having lived for a long time already, and with accumulated power and experience comes maturity. Such a simple premise that, ngl, is quite rare in danmei. I value plot and characterisation the most and I see that I've already rambled terribly in regard to the plot so here I will just say that the author applies the same care and precision to both plot and characterisation, which is great. Well constructed, well rounded characters are just a joy to read. I cried with them, laughed with them, raged alongside them, and I recommend everyone join me in this experience.

Romance: 5/5

The romance in this novel is very well-balanced: fluff, angst, and smut, and a great progression. What do I mean by romance progression? The main couple gets together fairly quickly, which is almost always a bad omen for me to find in novels because, as far as my reading experience goes, authors seem to work better when they pivot their plots on slow burn and UST (unresolved s*xual tension) and seem to lose their compass, so to say, when the main couple is paired up early. This usually results in damages to the romantic sub-plot, or to the main plot, or both, but NOT in the case of this story! The author manages to balance the romantic sub-plot and main plot so well that even if the main couple is gets together so early on, every time there's a fluffy or smutty scene, reading their interactions is just as wonderful and exciting as if it was their first confession scene. This is mainly due to the fact that the main plot is so deliciously angsty and well thought-out that the ups and downs of the plot render the romantic sub-plot's progress consistently interesting. And don't even let me started on how fvcking good the side couples are in this story! Just fvcking chef's kiss all around in terms of romance. Translation: 3/5

This novel is like Thousand Autumns where there are multiple translators and nobody read the previous person's work (or they read it and just decide to ignore it for their own selfish irrational reasons). And similarly to Thousand Autumns, the first translator happens to be the best, then there's a steep decline in the middle, and a slight reprise at the end. The first translator did a great job, they just grated on me by using strange expressions such as "fiend cultivator" instead of the more popular phrasing "demonic cultivator" or even "devil cultivator, " and "exalt" to translate "supreme/great/grandmaster/lord." Nonetheless, the first translator did a great job because they've been perfectly consistent with their terms of choice and usage and translated almost everything, including honorifics. The translator in the middle probably used MTL or edited MTL. And the translation towards the end is slightly more polished than the middle but it's inconsistent, and not only between different chapters, but even within the same chapter, so for example you might find "Mt. Taihua" then "Tai Hua Mt." then "Tai Hua Mountain Sect" then "Taihua Sect" in the span of a few pages. But hey, at least the translator's notes are not as insane as those in Thousand Autumns.

All in all this novel has been a delightful and emotional read, and I heartily recommend everyone to promptly delve into this beautiful world of love, resentment, destiny, and independence! <<less

This is a funny take on the stallion novel transmigrated villain trope. Actually, MC has not transmigrated but is rebirthed into a novel where the protagonist is a transmigrator. Fed up with the outcome of his previous life, MC tries to defy the will of the heavens but heaven said no. Well, too bad! MC decides, the heavens don't defy me, I defy them!

Thus, he begins his journey of breaking heaven's will while pranking the protagonist (who deserves it). MC in this novel is so damn sassy, I love it.... more>> Additionally, the interactions between him, his tsuntsun master/ML and his bfFL are hysterical.

Unfortunately, the translator for this novel has split it into multiple chapters, where the most recent chapter 149 lines up with chapter 62 of the raw. It's clear that the translation is barely edited MTL and a lot is probably lost in translation. Trying to MTL it myself gives endless headaches so I'll likely be waiting for the translation to pick up before finishing this one. <<less

The novel starts out with the original MC's (Li Xiuchen's) perspective. It goes into a lot of detail about him, too much detail. In this type of novel, I don't expect to be reading about a side character and his background from the very beginning, especially when he is the one who transmigrated which makes him supposedly a real person and not a book character and also not the original Li Xiuchen who did all of those bad things. This only makes me sympathize with and want to support him.... more>> Meanwhile he turns out to be the character that is made to be a bad person, which makes me confused instead. The Author is basically using him as a crutch, the core of the story is focused on him, which just makes me irritated. I see a lot of comments saying that they love to have someone to hate, but I am the opposite, preferring not to have a shitty character in the first place. Also, The Master is more like a side character because he has little presence in the story so far.

Overall, the beginning is leaving me confused, irritated, and gets very boring around ch.7. A good start to a novel is important, and this one failed me. This is incredibly hard to continue to read, so I am ditching here.

I didn't rate it because I can't read anymore of it... That should be a 1 star, but I don't like to rate things badly if I didn't finish it because it could actually turn out to be decent if I didn't care about getting acne while reading it. <<less

Love it! Especially how playful MC becomes towards ML when it comes to ~couple cultivation~. That said, there's not much description of the scenes, so if you're looking for something smutty it's not really here.

It's also good from a cultivation adventure point of view. The "protagonist" is a piece of tr*sh so it gives me no guilt to see MC trying to step on him every step of the way. MC also makes important friendships along the way, and has a very important family.

Translation quality changes drastically after it's hosted... more>> by Flying Lines (like all their stories lmao) but you get used to it. Just remind yourself that the alternative would be no story, so be thankful.

It's a good story. <<less

at ch 17:

so good so far!! This is a slow burn between the MC and the ML filled with angst from the memories of the past life of MC! So you will definitely cry but Im sure it will be worth it. It really is a great novel, there are only 17 chapters translated but it keeps you entertained all the time. Although sometimes its a bit frustating how the ML handles his obvious feelings for the MC (al least in these 17 chapters). Edit: so I finally started... more>> MTL'ing the novel because I couldn't wait and I strongly recommend to use Baidu translator because mostly it's easy to understand. Currently I'm in ch 30 and I understood everything even though its mtl. Also, the ML is such a tsundere!!! And MC is so cute agh I can't <<less

I found this novel 3 years ago and finally read the mtl because I couldn't bear to wait for translations anymore ㅠㅠ

The plot and progression are just so damn good. The tragedy tag also intimidated me at first but I went through the other review and knew it's a HE so I persisted and I'm glad I did.

The story of the main cp and that side cp in the extra are both heart-wrenchingly good you'll feel the knives but the end is just so fluffy you'll feel it's worth... more>> the hurt. And the papapa scenes in the extra actually shocked me because the main cp's papapa wasn't that descriptive but well, considering the nature of that side cp I guess it's to be expected

There's nothing really off-putting but maybe I would've loved reading the story of the other side cp we got to see early on and I would love for LXC to suffer more.

AND there's no in*est in the main cp. You'll see that the relationship between MC and ML was more distant during MC's younger years. No, while the ML care for MC, he never thought of the MC as a son. Yes, the ML is a lot older but this is a cultivation novel age doesn't matter that much.

It's not like those novels where the face slapping is the main plot, you'll get to see more of MC's journey and the novel's setting.

I also resented the ML at first but when you see the ML's thoughts and story in the previous life you'll end up hating the way of heaven and LXC more.

Again, that LXC is the worst of the worst. His thoughts are frickinh disgusting. He's just tr*sh at this point. How I wish we could've seen him get tortured more.

All in all it's a good read. I would definitely reread this in the future. <<less

I tried reading it twice, but it really feels like wasting my time. I can't believe it's written by the same author as Rebirth of the Supermodel. What's wrong with this story? Just about everything. The idea sounds great but the plot progresses in such a boring, muddled way my eyes are crossing. The MC and the ML totally lack personality. Their interaction is meh. The face-slapping bothered me the most. It was ugly and vulgar, very crude. It's a pity - xianxia plus rebirth is my favourite flavour. But... more>> this one just didn't work. <<less

You know when you fcking love a novel but then you have to wait everytime for a new chapter and at a certain point the novel will become boring? Well that definitely IS NOT TVHSTS.

The overal story is meh, but somehow it gets me hyped up for every new chapter. I think that's prob because the storyline isn't that strong, so it's easy to follow and because of *bless Flying Lines* the quick updates. HOWEVER that doesn't mean the story is weak either.
The whole setting is actually quite unique... more>> and therefore very catchy. So the MC of OUR novel is a villian in A novel. He died and was killed by the protagonist of A novel. Then went back in time and gets to know that his world is A novel. Meanwhile A random guy transmigrated in the "A" protagonist of A novel of which OUR MC is the villian of. But now OUR MC knows everything and sets his mind on f*cking A protagonist up (poor transmigrated guy) while courting his shizun (welcome to the Shizun for life squad). This all sounds hella difficult to follow but don't worry the novel explains it very easily.

So we basicallt get a yandere (?) MC and a yandere ML. What else do you need. The biggest question while reading is who's topping or do we finally get a realistic gay s*x life?????. And when they somehow end up together their scenes are still quite short and somehow shallow, so I unwillingly keep on shipping OUR MC with another character smh.

To conclude: just read it. <<less

This is a fun and satisfying novel to read. Haha ( ̄▽ ̄;)

Spoiler

The transmigrated protagonist is a minor character with average looks and an attitude problem who thinks that his golden halo and status as the main character of the original plot will protect him. It does ?

The MC (Luo Jianqing) is the vindictive pretty boy and respected senior brother who was killed as a "villain character" by the original protag and given a second chance to live. Thinks that his master doesn't care about him.

His master is a handsome and powerful ice block that really cares about him. That man reached god-like levels and defied heaven's will for his only disciple. Protective ML. Cute ?

Absolutely loved the novel !!

The plot and the characters are so diversified. Our MC Is no saint, he kills and is ruthless when he needs to be. Both the ML and MC are crazy in love 😘

About mo qiu... more>>
Spoiler

At the beginning he seems to be the SML but no ! He's not in love with the MC, it's pure bromance. He was just lonely and torn up by the war and the MC happened to give him comfort and a shoulder to depend upon. He has a love interest, devoted to him for the past 2000 years

[collapse]

But what got my heart were the side couples

Spoiler

mo qiu's disciple (demonic cultivaitress / witch) x Monk

In the past life she was married to the protagonist but fell in love with the monk and sacrificed herself to save him.

In the current life, the monk remembered her and sacrificed his life to save her (it's a HE)

He refuses to be with the her as a monk cannot fall in love. So the angry grand masters of the demonic palace chase him for beffuddling their little girl. Even the monks master is embarrassed by his disciple's stubbornness.

[collapse]

Spoiler

mo qiu (the demonic palace lord) x dragon

This ship was really unexpected as mo qiu and the dragon were death enemies. MQ even dug out his heart during the war and trapped him in darkness for 100 yrs, to the point that the revered dragon lord was traumatized by the darkness. The dragon even wanted to shred MQ to a thousand pieces. During the second great war, the dragon gouged out MQ heart and then MQ trapped himself with the dragon into eternal darkness again. The mentally deteriorated dragon had his mental state revert back to that of a 5yr old child. Honestly I thought this was going to be a case of Stockholm syndrome, well no ! Later MQ took pity on him and occassionally spoke with him to relieve his loneliness, inadvertently revealing his backstory. And lo ! The dragon realized MQ was his dead ex lover and had amnesia. He thought of him to be dead for 2000 years and grieved his death. Finally when MQ was about to die from blood loss, the dragon gave him his heart and became his dao companion. MQ finally remembered him in the last chapter

Every other novel like this that I read was a BL novel that happened to be based in a cultivation world, but this one, this marvelous beautiful gem, is a Cultivation novel which is BL.

You might either be thinking - what's the difference, they're both BL Xianxia but this small difference makes such a huge impact on the writing style, the depth of the characters, the plot building. The ML is not the entire world to the MC like in other novels (he's like 80%) MC makes friends and foes... more>> in his travels and the adventures and just so nice to read.

You might also be thinking but I don't really like cultivation novels the less of it in a novel the better, but it's so good, it's so fleshed out! I don't care if I'm being unreasonable but you have to read it ! It's a gem !

Some info you should know:

Spoiler

The MC is the disciple and despite what he said in the synopsis he's the bottom, but this guy does NOT act like those wussy pu*sy bottoms! I wouldn't have been surprised if he really topped!

Master likes him since like wayy before so don't be sad during the first part.

Unfortunately to date I haven't seen a detailed written papapa scene T-T) sad life but even from the vague details that are written ! It's so good ! My heart just groans AGH SO HAWT

At the time of the review, I'm still at chapter 111 (the raws, not Flying Lines translation) but I can safely say that the main couple creeps out too much, to the point where I'm not sure if I would be able to complete the story even though there is less than 40 chapters left. While the plot is pretty good and the whole karma's-gonna-come-collect-your-debt thing is written well, sometimes it gets intolerable ok?

The main problem I have is not the MC, in fact, I think he's ok, a good... more>> kid, helpful but too dense at times.
Spoiler

While I don't blame his naivety regarding the Mo Qiu/Mo Qianqiu thing, sometimes it gets too much and I feel like slapping him for his blatant disregard for his life-and-death friend's feelings.

[collapse]
But his teacher, and the story's ML. Xuan Lingzi sometimes often comes across as a creep to me, especially since he practically raised the MC and the author, just like one review before has stated, continuously reminds us of the fact, adding random flashbacks of childhood to the present situation where the two are already lovers.

Spoiler

Also, another thing I hate about the ML is that he's also a f*cking as*hole when it comes to other people except his disciple/lover. The previous life incident where he killed everyone after Luo Jianqing died, ok, I can tolerate that, he was angry, hurt, etc, etc. BUT, during the Ku Mountain total collapse and Demon Zun Cang Ruo's soul dissipitating (chapter 110 I think), he acts like a f*cking as*hole and kills people left and right even though he knew that HE was also in the wrong.

The 'Nine Lotus Heaven Seizing Records' (I hope I got that right, its the one Jianqing is cultivating) is forbidden for a f*cking reason and his disciple cultivated it and the last time someone cultivated that technique, the whole world was thrown into chaos (I'm still sad about Zisong, Cang Ruo and Jin Li not meeting his parents *cries*) yet he acts like a total bit*h and doesn't even think about the lives of innocent people who have nothing to do with any of the mess! Yes, I get that the whole 'going-against-the-world-for-your-lover' trope is supposed to be romantic but NOT! WHEN! PEOPLE! ARE! BEING! KILLED! FOR! NO! REASON!

He knew the dangers of cultivating the technique, he knew how harmful it was, HE KNEW and yet? Nothing. Heh, remember that 82nd thunderstorm from the Heavenly Dao? If Xuan Lingzi did not arrive in time, Jianqing would have almost died. And yet he says its the Heavenly Dao's fault? How? You knew how much one would suffer while acting against the Heavens and you did nothing, you f*cking moron.
Another moment where I wanted Xuan Lingzi to be killed or at least like, removed from the story somehow, was during the time when he told Mo Qianqiu not to inform Luo Jianqing of his true identity. Whose identity? Thats right, Mo Qianqiu! Why? Because he was a pitiful and jealous person who could not bear to let his disciple know that his life-and-death friend (who loved him) went through so much just for him. He was insecure, yes, but did he consider what Luo Jianqing would have felt when he realized the truth? No, he thought it would be better for Jianqing to not know. If it was me, I'd probably never trust Xuan Lingzi again, because despite knowing how important Mo Qiu was to Jianqing and how much his 'death' devastated him, he still hid the truth. Nope, can't see any redeeming points for this guy.

I don't know how to descrive my feelings after completing this one novel.

Almost everything is my cup of tea. Yet, my favourite part of this novel is the MC's struggle. Both in cultivation and also love.
