The plot wasn't anything that I would call extraordinarily good but it is above average and was well executed for its genre. 4/5

The thing that stood out the most and made me fall in love with this story is the MC's personality and her relationship with the ML. These two attributes managed to avoid a lot of (frustrating) tropes often used in other 'reincarnated into otome game' novels.

The MC:

    • The MC lives in the present, she doesn't treat the world as a game or the people around her as strangers.
    • Despite having memories of her past life, that doesn't detract her from being Lizia Rietberg, the daughter of a Marquis as well as an inhabitant of the current world.
    • She's not OP, wise beyond her age, extremely dense or recklessly tries to befriend/ save everyone.
    • She knows when to doubt people and doesn't needlessly poke her nose where it doesn't belong. Rather than being level-headed, the MC is just like any other teenage girl who doesn't like to get into troublesome situation.
The MC and ML's relationship:

    • The MC and the ML are openly in love with each other. Their interactions are extremely cute without it being too cheesy. They care deeply for one another.
    • Despite not wanting to get into troublesome situation, the MC doesn't hesitate to get offensive/ defensive when others try to disturb hers and ML's relationship.
A decent plot with likable lead characters, this is definitely a novel that's worth being given a try!

Tbh, This may be one of my favourite novels because the MC is so freakin relatable. Her thought process is so freakin hilarious and I always think how can the female leads in novels be always so freakin serious, ambitious and genius. Well this MC shows how a normal girl's thought process should be. She doesn't scheme anything, doesn't interfere inpolitics, isn't developing some new policies or products to get money. She knows she's plain. She describes her actions in a really funny way like we do in our daily... more>> life and internet chats. She gets scared easily though but got the guts to be aggressive when necessary. yeah thats normal and thats what I like. The Male Lead is a FREAKIN CINNAMON ROLL BUT can kill you type and damn I love him

The supposed to be Villainess Katarina and All other supporting characters are also really likable and there's violence in this too. So I pretty much liked it

Surely, it has its own flaws like how could she like a kid even tho she was really old in previous life and how the game turned from gay game to otome game but still this is one of the novel i'd truly recommend
Spoiler

The best thing was the romance between the two, even though lizzy knows that Bern has killed and tortures bad people. She stops him softly, doesn't hate him and also participates with him to limit him from it

Ok, firstly I think I'm usually an easy to please commenter, especially towards genres I'm currently interested in (like this one). But I really don't think this story was that enjoyable, so I really don't know how it scored so high.

Firstly, I felt that the story was really hard to follow, not just because of things like grammar but the way that scenes flowed was weird. It's hard to describe, but it makes me feel like I missed reading whole chapters or something. And this isn't a once or twice... more>> occurrence, but rather my impression of the writing of the entire story.

As for romance, there's not that much "falling in love". It's like, you blink and they're already in love (not necessarily love at first sight, but eg. Not in love then time gap then amazing relationship or scenes the reader doesn't see in the background), which is fine for those who like that. The relationship dynamics are also kind of strange, and honestly I'm not a fan of how complicated and dramatic the author wrote this to be. I mean there's a LOT of drama suggested, probably to build suspense, but it's not really skillfully done so I'm just confused a lot of the time.

There's also limited exploration of character, so it doesn't feel like there's any character development (rather, it's like "wow this character is so much better than the OG one", but we don't really see that process). I think the setup for ML is supposed to be the typical desperately-in-love ML, but he's over-affectionate sometimes yet not others? Either way almost all of the characters feel quite shallow up to the point I was reading. It feels more like the author tells you the complex personality the character has, rather than showing it through a process (does that make sense??). MC is really annoying because she's so wimpy and push-over. <<less

I only wrote completed cause I've read up to a few chapters of the latest arc, Emilia's Diary, so I might mention some spoilers ahead of what I have up at the moment.

Anyways, I'm the translator for this story so my review's going to be biased, probably... I'll try not to lol.

Update: The writing has gotten better in the second arc, we get development, more fluffy scenes and more questions than we get answers! Which is why I made it 5 stars now lol.

Personally, the writing isn't the best, but... more>> it also isn't the worse. I'd say it's above average (personally, because the way Lizzy narrates is funny sometimes hence why), but it does make up with other things. One of this is, as a lot of other reviews have already gushed about, portraying the main couple's (yes, there's a main couple, meaning there's another one wink wink) relationship as being open and loving without being overtly annoying or in your face. In a sea of Japanese otome game reincarnation novels, seeing a couple be open with their feelings for the other is refreshing. There's no guessing who the ML is, or any teasing. We know from the first few chapters who the ML is, and the two of them stay devoted to the other. The MC isn't running around, accidentally romancing other game love interests or protagonist. She decides to stick to one guy, and is loyal all throughout.

Because of this, it allows the author to work on their dynamics instead of having us guess who the main boo is. I'd say it's somewhat subtle, like
Spoiler

with the peas scene, when Lizzy was called the President's wife, Bern embroidering Lizzy's handkerchief with the initials of his last name, or maybe even how Bern created a club just so Lizzy can have fun,

[collapse]
showing how into each other they are instead of directly saying I love you, which I think is a nice way of storytelling. As they say, show, don't tell.

Another thing that I personally enjoyed with this story is the mystery, and clues/foreshadowing all throughout. One major one that I've pointed out to a commenter was
Spoiler

how Bern's grand scheme of faking his death, which happens in the end, has been in the making ever since Chapter 6 (or 5? I don't remember the exact chapter).

[collapse]

Another would be minor things like: What's up with Lila? Why does Alois hate Bern so much? (Not a lot of people noticed this, but it's mentioned in a sentence or two that Alois seems to hate Bern for no particular reason) Why does Lucas say such cyptic things to Lizzy, like what's his deal? Who's the adviser of the Hidden Student Council? They're not exactly mind-blowing things, but putting in some mystery adds some spice to the story. There were times I felt like a detective as I translated this story. There were a few tiny things to pay attention to, and when it got brought up later on, it made translating/reading fun and exciting.

As for character development, there's barely any, and that's one of the weaknesses of this story. Although we do get some development in the next main arc (prenuptial arc), the main story falls short of that. To be honest, I think it would have been better to include the prenuptial arc in the main story, instead of separating it. In the main story, Lizzy is relatable, but personally, there have been times I thought she was dumb and got frustrated at her. The other characters barely have any development as well, except maybe Katerina. To be honest, I think she had the most development out of anybody (that's if the others even had them). In the beginning, it's shown that she's in love with Prince Edwin, and becomes his fiancee -- she's the villainess in his route in the game. But because of Lizzy's intervention, she powers through her heartbreak and becomes an independent woman. In fact, in the epilogue, it's mentioned that
Spoiler

she becomes the Duchess of House Brunsmeier. That's dope yo. A Duchess. I don't think appointing the daughter as the head of the household is a common thing in the country the story's set in, so it shows just how much she's grown from the spoiled, mean personality she had as a kid to an independent woman.

[collapse]
But aside from that, the characters do have some depth to them. The villains do villain-y things for a reason, seemingly good people have agendas -- all that stuff. Even though some of them aren't given enough screentime to help the reader sort of empathize with their reasoning, the ones that were was nice.

One other thing that I have mixed feelings about is how Lizzy and Bern suddenly went from acquaintances to lovey-dovey. Like I need the in between, just a bit of it at least. At least show me Bern changing from the emotionless doll that he looks like, to a cute, adorable puppy around Lizzy, or how Lizzy repenting through her actions because she unfairly judged Bern.

And I think that's pretty much it? Honestly, everything else is so-so, but it's done enough in a way to hold your interest until the very end. Though sadly, the prenuptial arc doesn't really do a good job of that, but it at least does answer some questions raised in the main story. Also,
Spoiler

they finally kiss in the last chapter of that arc, and propose to each other (well, Lizzy beat Bern to it). It was hella cute.

[collapse]

As some reviews have mentioned, it's a nice read when you've got time to kill, but it's not mind-blowingly amazing. <<less

I machine translated this, and I could tell you this is a gem!!! I've read all of the otome game genre, no matter if they were reincarnated as the heroine, villain, mob character, or the brother / fiance prince. I've read the bad and the good, the super long ones that you get tired of (imagine being 150 chapters in and still the MC is 5yrs old), literally most of it if not all.

There are other otome game stories which has better plot progression and character development, no doubt. What... more>> made this so likable is that there's enough substance to keep the plot going but not too much as if its forced. Its not too deep in the drama but just enough to make me want to finish. Plus the interaction between our MC and the ml, how cute is that!!!!

This really is a nice read if your looking to pass the time. Give it a chance :) <<less

This is the first time that I will rate and give comment about a novel. I super love how simple and low tone this novel is. I love how MC, her personality is not annoying over the top, I love how honestly and simply she was described all through out the story. I also admire how the author kept character as mob and getting sidelined as well as the story goes.

For me, this story is well written. No magic, NO over the top annoying dense characters, NO exaggerated KINDNESS.

I basically... more>> love how simple this novel is and how lovely the romance of the MC here. <<less

This is a good story. Surprisingly so ! Certainly, it doesn't bring anything new to the table, but it's very good for its genre. The writing - rather, the translation - is good, the characters are very likeable (except those who aren't) and the plot is steady.

But the main good point is the main girl Lizia. Though an annoyingly high number of these novels will have the FL treating the world like it has a predetermined scenario that has to be followed to some extent, and hold on to that... more>> idea for way too long, Lizia recognizes that the world she lives in, and the people in it, are all real. Most importantly, she realizes that fairly quickly.

The romance is cute too. The interactions between the main couple don't feel too forced at all, and that's really refreshing. The heavier scenes are properly serious, and I felt some tension at several times.

Anyhow, this is a good read that I definitely recommend. It's light-hearted without being obnoxious, and it's a bit serious without being overly dramatic. <<less

A cute story about a reincarnated mob character who got engaged with the villain and decided to try stop him from from doing bad things.

I love this story and I'm so glad it got picked up again. MC and ML are adorkable and must be protected at all cost.

It's got most of the usual aspects for this genre, but I really love the MC's personality. She mentions befriending someone in dance class when they were trying to step on each other's toes, and she and the ML pass peas back and forth from their plates, since he hates eating them. Very cute. Sometimes the annoyingly-dense MC cliche surfaces, but so far still very enjoyable.

I am still at chapter 14 so I do suppose it's too early to judge. But based on what I read so far, I neither hate this, nor like it. It has its pros and cons.

For me, the pros were that.. Um..I'm trying to think of some actual good ones.. Well, I guess I like berns personality. Katrina was definitely a cute tsundere and I liked her.

Now the cons,

First, let's start with the MC. Fl, our personal camera with no personality. At first, I didn't mind much. But as... more>> things started to get a little hectic. It started to annoy me. It was literally like reading from a plants point of view. Sure there are few thoughts here and there. But I never saw her actually contribute other than describe what was happening in front of her. It was annoying. She was just too bland, and sometimes it made sense to stay quiet but it most it was just irritating. So many times I've wanted her to say something! But nope. Nothing. And if that was just her character then I would've understood. But it wasn't.

Second, the lack of.. Screen time? I suppose? Anyway, I would've loved to see Katrina and Lizzy relationship progress but it was just one meeting and bam. They're friends. That's it. Same with bern, one day he was supposedly absentminded and doesn't really care for her then time skip, he's all lovey-dovey and affectionate. And we have no idea how that happened. The MC skimmed over it like 'oh yeah and one day bern suddenly started to like me more yay' actually, I wish she actually added the yay.

The characters, other than Darius, Katrina and bern. Barely have a character. Might've as well just named them 'love obstacle #1', 'love obstacle #2' and so on -.- after a chapter or two of them not appearing. I would completely forget who they were when they reappeared.

Whoa! I'm glad I got that off my chest. In the end, I'm sure some may not agree with me, while some might. If there was a part I might've misunderstood then please, do point it out. (Though I'm not sure if you can do it on here)

Overall, despite all that renting, my rating is not absolute. So I'm gonna continue and if it gets better (or worse.) Ill change it. <<less

4.5/5 Stars

If you liked “It Seems Like I Got Reincarnated Into The World of a Yandere Otome Game“, you will definitely like this one as well. Except this one is slightly better because the leads have more scenes/moments together. I loved and related to the FL who is just an average girl who just wanted a peaceful life. Nevertheless, she’s charming and loveable in her own ways. I appreciate that we don’t get to see the MLs perspective until the very end (usually authors insert it around the same time)... more>> and you could really see how he grew. Honestly, they both grew wonderfully together.

The story is well-paced and the mystery keeps it interesting (if you weren’t already invested in the characters). Support characters are dynamic and I have come to cheer on for them as well.

Spoiler

Also this is probably the only novel where I liked both MLs simultaneously for the FL (usually it’s one or the other). Bern and Lily are still my OTP though.

New Translator works wonders. Grammar: 4.2/5

Writing: 3.7/5

Story: 4/5

(Update: Chapter 20. Yep, love makes you do strange things. Punch a guy for looking at your girl, break some guys' arm for hurting your girl.
Spoiler

Interrogating and Torturing a fellow with your loved one for trying to kill you.

[collapse]
Yerp, love makes you do strange things.

(Update: Chapter 17. Well now, got some shivers going up and down my spine, seems things are getting interesting, I can't wait for the next few chapters to play out. I want to know how things will go and I want to know asap. Too bad it seems to come out 2-3 times a week, but that's still a nice schedule.)

Grammar is fairly well done with the new translator (s), no real problems, just a bit of work on word flow, but I myself couldn't readily think of a way to improve it other than changing the vocabulary a bit (which wouldn't be enough on its own). The writing style of the author is fairly good, not the best I've seen but the pacing is nice and neutral, though there could be a few more details and the dialogue could be done with a bit more finesse. The story is fairly average, Otome Game with reincarnation, though the author does change a few things and I'm glad for the bit of originality that is being added. Could still use a bit of a flair, or something to distinguish that this isn't the same old Otome Game copypasta.

Overall, since I really enjoy this Genre (well, almost any genre really) I am looking forward to reading more of this series. Wish I could change the Stars to a 4.

First, the grammar is okay, it just needs a bit of work. The way it is worded is fairly confusing making it difficult to keep track of whats going on with sudden shifts. The writing can't be judged at the moment due to translation difficulties. The story is okay, I'd like to know what will happen, but I can' really keep reading this as it feels like someone took a story and shifted portions of it around to purposely make it confusing.

I really enjoyed reading this one. Although it's not translated completely, and since it's been almost I year I doubt it will, the main story is finished and there are quite a few extras out.

I had a lot of fun reading this. The story was interesting, the main couple was sweet, and the first person narration was quite entertaining xD.

I like both the leads. The MC is mostly just a normal human dealing with life, making sure things work out and more or less an absolute blessing for the people... more>> around her who just needed some interaction with a decent person XD. The ML, though outstanding in many areas, has the emotional development of a kid. Not as in he's bratty but as in, your horizons expand as you grow older and live your life, your world becoming bigger, and the ML is lacking that. He's kind of empty, bored and lonely.

And together, they're a big ball of fluff~ jk XD they're both kind and affectionate with each other. Both are kinda weird and cute, and I love them <3 <<less

Story: 5/5
On a whole, in comparison with other otome game novels, this rates slightly better with its... creativity in a sense. It's something different and unique, which I thought was great. Honestly, for all the abundance of otome-type novels, it's surprisingly hard to find ones that diverge from the conventional standard as this did. Either way, I do suck these things up.

Writing: 3/5

This was something I thought brought down the story a bit. It's quite confusing in some parts- I thought I had skipped chapters by accident, but nope,... more>> just how it is. It was also fairly unengaging and I couldn't help but skim through sections due to how lackluster it was at times. But!! The story is still good and entertaining. Good for light peppy read.

Story-good. Execution-meh.

Characters: 4/5

Yeah, what we all came for. I'm glad to see MC is true to herself and maintains her sensibility throughout. And the character relationships~ it's something fun to read about. I believe the other reviews already gush about the ML and MC's relationship, so does there need to be another one? (The answer is heck yeah!! Power couple ^v^)

I took a star off because yes, most characters were kind of lackluster and one-dimensional, but I'll put it on the fault of the writing.

Spoiler

Alois or whatever it was, I was just ??? at him the entire time. I didn't get riled up or sympathetic or anything at all. He seems to be forcefully molded into the villain character for the sake of it. Kind of ends up like a clown to me. Same with Donovan and the others. Fodder. At times, it really does seem that the author is just chucking characters at me yelling "HAHA! PLOT TWIST! NEVER SAW THAT COMING DIDJA?" as I stand there with mini-Clarissa, mini-Lucas, and others hitting my face. I wish some characters could've been developed more. Also, Lucas ends up as an eccentric weirdo pe*vert rather than "kakkoii!!!!<3 mysterious uwu" character. I found that funny.

[collapse]

All in all, this is the work you read when you need something on the go, that has the otome-novel tropes but establishing them in a different way. Good job to the translators and author. I appreciate it! <<less

Another otome game for a reincarnated villainess. It was an okay read. But somehow, it has a feeling of just brushing through the pages without much depth. The MC, as an adult inside, is childish in a way that she does not think like an adult. And her knowing some events, which she could use to protect her love, just let it be. Let's say, MC is just the kind of person that's too undecided to act on something and pretty much, there is no great feeling reading her parts.
