Description

The main character is reborn as a character from a game he played in his previous life. This character falls into ruin along with the villainess, spending the last of their years together. A man named Kururi Helan.

No details of this decline is written inside the game, it can’t be understood why this sub-character ended up with the villainess route. However, that is of no importance.

Living as a needy farmer along with someone is unpleasant, so the main character seeks a profession. For now, he aims for becoming a blacksmith as he originally had skill in it.

Slice of life story of a Japanese MC transported to a world from a game he remembers. There are stereotypical Japanese tropes in here, but not as bad as in some other stories (e.g. Wimpy (mentally), indecisive MC; MC thinks that hard work is the answer to everything; Author's attempts at being humorous that either doesn't translate well or the authors just sucks at writing (my bet)). Honestly, a bit lacking in plot progression as soon as it hits the School Arc, which so far has taken up to v3c17... more>> from v1c10 or so, and it peters out in both entertainment and world-building. I ground it out (reading-wise) until v3c14, which encapsulated everything I HATE about Japanese stories, and then I finished what was available (v3c17) and said no more. It's be a while before I even take a crack at re-reading this again. <<less

Up to vol 3 I must say this is a good "transported to another world" story. While it is not necessary the driving point of the series, and focuses more in the story and characters itself.

School parts are not really that amusing, and I myself can't be bothered with them so pretty much those parts are skipped. Thankfully they are rather short and provides characters interactions making them more likable for me.

As the only flaw I can find here is the rather slow pace. That in itself is not bad... more>> if things are explained and there is some background building, but the main point about MC becoming a Blacksmith has somehow overshadowed by another traits, and the romance is not much developed as I'd wish it were. <<less

It starts out pretty interesting and fun tbh, MC along with some side characters are quite entertaining and likable in a tr*shy sort of way, and it's nice seeing MC want to give a good life to his new family and not fall into ruin but that's just really the beginning sadly enough.

As with most stories you can see that the author had an interesting concept and was able to make it work at the beginning but as the story goes on it just turns more and more generic as... more>> the author is unable to correctly follow through with his initial idea.

MC is your typical cuck, side characters that were initially interesting become one note and it's just an embarrassment all around.

There'sa lot better tr*sh out there just don't bother, I'm giving it 2 stars on account that I did have fun in the beginning but really that's a big sin, it hooks you with an interesting start so you're reluctant to drop it even if it's garbage so again just don't even bother.

Edit: 2 December 2016

This novel is a good novel, however not a polished gem. At the start, we have the main character who is a fat rich kid, that understand the situation he is in and tries to improve himself knowing that he is reaching a bad ending. He slims down, he masters magic and blacksmithing. The problem is that he should be a side character of a game and his base stats are pretty much overpowered. I was a bit upset about the main character. He, who should have... more>> been a side character, had specs high enough to be the main character of the game. That was for me bad writing, because if he had to be a side character he couldn't take so much highlight, in my opinion. Then, in the second volume, the author decides to make him a wimp, while confronting a group of students. This problem is also in the 3rd volume.
The first volume is a solid 4. The premise is there, but it is still missing something. Then I read the second volume, the school arc. It is introduced the main heroine (of the game), the main hero (of the game) and the his future wife (of the protagonist). The atmosphere is good, the interactions between his friends are good, the plot moves forward. This volume is a solid 5, and I changed my initial review. However with the start of the 3rd volume, you can see that the author is having problems writing. He writes without a plot, he forgot characters that were introduced, some plot is moved too fast. You can say it has reached a point where the author knows that he can't just write anymore. This volume gives to the readers a bit of satisfaction, but there is a noticeable drop in quality.

At this point in time, the translation has almost reached the ending of the 3rd volume, and the raw have a few chapters of the 4th volume. However, these few chapters were written in summer, after 4-5 months where the author didn't write anything. Now, the author is missing again. You can see what I want to say. <<less

This story have many similarity with
'Kenkyo, Kenjitsu o Motto ni Ikite Orimasu'
but with a faster plot, different gender and opposite personality. So I recommended it to anybody who like reika-sama's story but more toward male gender's perspective.

Sorry for my jumbled english

Funny story. Quite fast paced but that may change (right now I've read up to chapter 10). The MC reicarnates as a side character but notices that he has unusually high specs. Lets hope for the best...

Edit: I wanna cry.

The story had great potential even if you take in the generic background story BUT all was lost. The story started to become chaotic, introducing characters and starting arcs only to never do anything with them. I am really disappointed. Now for me, it is at most a 3/5

nothing make sense, the author flip the novel from 100 to 0 faster than ussain bolt reach the finish line

full of cliche, MC absolutely naive and freely spouting his memory of the "game", especially his interaction with his "supposedly" future wife is piss me off, seriously, you can't be smart and an idiot at the same time

the magic work inconsistent and theres no explanation how it works, creating earth fruit with a little bit of magic, creating new plants with magic willy nilly, what an omnipotent power

i give it 2... more>> just because I quite like the first half <<less

I'm conflicted about this story. Vol 1 and 2 was amazing and I would rate it 10/10, but the problem started with volume 3. Volume 3 was "all over the place", everything went downhill that volume. Author managed to make the story good again in volume 4 before a huge downturn at the end of the volume (imo). Now at volume 5 it looks like story is decent again.

In my opinion this author is amazing at writing slice of life/daily stories. It is the reason that keeps me reading this... more>> story, but when it comes to plot progression some of the settings are so s*upid. I really don't like how the few villains that shows up and make the life of the MC miserable just fades away in story, the MC never actually get a really satisfying redemption/payback against these villains.

Also the romance in this story is also extremely enjoyable, if it wasn't for the s*upid plot progression.

Long story short, if you can overlook the weaknesses this story have it is decent read. <<less

tl;dr: Harry Potter Isekai Tensei version with horrible, frankly shitty, execution (at least up to v3, can't bear to read any further).

It's like the author at first wanted to create a typical self-gratifying cheat OP isekai tensei MC but then suddenly changed his/her feeble mind and forcefully try to fit Harry Potter type (wimpy) personality into the MC. The result is a mess of a story with inconsistent plot and nothing more than little gimmicks of romance.

The "Unreliable Narrator" tag is a red flag. Not that it's always bad, the... more>> problem however it seems to be UNintentional part of the author. It shows that he (she?) probably didn't have any plan on where to take the story to. Of course while such isn't necessarily bad to have no direction, such endeavor almost invariably lead to inconsistency in story, like what other mentioned the author probably didn't read his/her own story anymore.

Disclaimer: I hate Harry Potter story, but I like it's world setting. <<less

This novel is written perfectly (just basing my opinion). I love this type of novel and it fits right into my category as I will be willing to read this leisurely in my own free time or rather, any time!

Even though that grammar mistakes should be taken note of in translating (though I applaud to the people that have worked so hard to translate the Japanese novel of this), so far, the plot of how the story goes is truly pleasing to read for me and I would be willing... more>> to recommend of this to any friend or people that wishes to read a novel like this.

All in all, I am eager to read of the future chapters ahead! <<less

If I had to describe this novel in one phrase, it would be "All over the place". We are repeatedly introduced to people and situations that seem important at first, only to be quickly forgotten in the backburner.

Blacksmithing? Barely remembered after the first arc. The cult-like following of the protagonist's club? Hey, there was a club, right? Wonder what happened to it, since it has not been even mentioned in over 2 volumes. The "heroine's" hint at wanting to be noticed as a romantic interest? Lolno, she is soon infatuated with an older man.

[collapse]
Right now the only thing keeping me reading is the "villainess"' situation, since she is one adorable cutiepie and I can't believe she was even villain material. <<less

It's good. The MC's personality is kinda refreshing and can't wait for the plot advancement. Some chapters, mostly in the perspectives of side characters are quite boring, but soon it's gonna be alright with the perspectives getting back to some sweet moments of MC and friends.

WARNING there is only 70ish chapters written so far.

Otherwise it is a good read, but not much has truly happens and it seem things that were super important in the beginning have tapered off... the story has blacksmith in its tittle and yet it does not really play a huge part so far besides being something he does every night in his off time (outside of the writing) and the odd item he make for a friend mostly outside the story.

It starts out nice with some tension, which is the title. He knows his future is social and economic ruin. The MC between 0-12 years of age had some interest in smithing/magic sword creation but his mother's love smothered him into being fat and lazy. So it's not like being reincarnated made him want to be a blacksmith, so that's the title explication.

The reincarnation/ iseikai is just a hand wave for MC to have barely any knowledge of the future. And make Japanese puns that the other characters don't... more>> get.

Throw in a deus-ex Machina onsen and half that tension is gone. The tension is now about MC making social faux-pas that will cause his downfall.

Though it quickly adds in some mystery: who is Chris Helen? Who is moren-jii really?

Spoiler

also by volume 4 c11 you realize he never was going to fall into ruin, the so called "bad ending" is actually their happy ending

I'll be talking about the web novel. I'm interested in the light novel; if I ever get the chance to read it then I surely will. I'll try to be brief. My 4-star rating was the result of the following:

- The main character was overpowered, but the author still tried to show him growing and following steps to reach his full potential. Some might point out that it was usually done quickly, but this is a light reading so I guess it's okay.

- Albeit it was clear the author did... more>> not have a plan for most of the characters, as they would only fulfill their role in the script and would sort of disappear after that, most were fun to read about. Up until the pseudo-ending, it never got too complicated and the story just tried to explore fun and light situations that might or might not be comic. So, if the storytelling doesn't disappoint you in the beginning, you'll enjoy it.

- And finally, because of the whole concept of: 'I know what's going to happen, so I'll try to avoid it, but if I fail I'll be prepared'. Instead of a: 'I'll avoid this outcome at all costs', it was more of a: 'I'll try, but I won't mind that much if it ends up happening as I'll be prepared'. I think I had never encountered such a concept, it was fascinating and truly fantastic. Now, even though I loved the concept, the execution was lackluster most of the times. Many, many times I was left thinking that there was so much promise but it remained as only that. By the end, though, although not perfectly, the author did enough to leave me satisfied.

There are certainly some glaring flaws, of course. The biggest ones were: the dropped plot lines, dropped characters, shallow characters, and lack of polish in general.

So, I guess my rating only works if you take it for what it is: a web novel. Something that shouldn't be taken too seriously and instead should be appreciated for what it could be.

It would be a shame if the author committed the same mistakes or even doubled down on them in the light novel. It's clear he had a clear and basic trajectory as to where he wanted the story to go. Keeping it simple might be the solution. In any case, if you read it, be sure to enjoy the parts the author clearly designed and don't pay too much attention to all the ideas that were thrown to the wall expecting them to stick XD. Good luck!

PD: This web novel, although not great at all, made me remember what I truly appreciate in a story. I think it could do the same for you, and that's why I wrote this review. Seriously, good luck! <<less
