There’s a legendary Bishoujo Game that has become popular among Japanese gentlemen.

Its name is “ Magical★Explorer” or Magiero for short.

The game’s protagonist has a cheat-like power with12 different beautiful heroines to flirt with, including additional 12 heroines from the DLC, a harem of 24 beauties. I have become that protagonist!………………Not. Instead, I have become the third-wheel character who always laughing like an idiot next to him.

Of course I was in despair at first.

Of course. If I am the protagonist I could have all 24 heroines for myself along with unparalleled cheat power. However, since I am the third-wheel there’s no heroine that would lay their eyes on me.

But now I couldn’t care less about the protagonist and his heroines. Why? Because I discovered magic. While I was using it, I have become interested in it. I want to master it. I want to become the strongest. Thus I have decided.

I would abandon half my role as a protagonist’s friend to train my magic and then I would beat the hell out of that cheat who can solo the Demon King.

………..I was training with that thought in mind, but somehow I keep getting closer to the heroines and furthermore, I don’t know why I keep encounter events like I am some Eroge’s protagonist.

First of all, actually I don't want to give this novel review but someone already give one star or two is absolutly ridiculous, or because he/she only read chapter under 30 or don't like harem theme or something what u expecting?

  1. I don't know, but generic plot or temple is fine come on man with most Japanese novel 85% its always generic if u saw theme (harem+school life) so reader who want baddass of MC with epic battle shounen manga, or pure romance with many drama with tear jerk story? (In this novel u can't have that just search other novel

In the novel MC main target is become op character and become number 1 in his school so his main focus in story is mad training and crazy beat dungeon all day being solo or with his harem party to catch up cheat character of eroge main player (iori) because he know so well if not training extra hard he can't beat his (iori) cheat growth.

Its same like the synopsis he similar to prontagonis of eroge novel in story bcoz, he half abandon role of clown for prontagonis and he will get closer to heroine.

Summary:Story is fresh not so fast not to slow I'm enjoy it, comedy and joke it generic/template but it fine bcoz it funny (80% manga/novel/visual novel/game have many template joke so fine for me it like daily drink a water or like math formula... So u can complain much isn't it) so far MC act so reasonanble and likeable, and good friendship with many heroine (if he not act like prontagonis I will drop this novel) the tranlate is good and fast thanks for fansubber ^^

    Sorry for bad english :v

Had to drop it at chapter 28. I wonder why this garbage has such high reviews?

What I like:

  • Interesting magic concept.
  • The scarf as a weapon/tool is a nice idea.
What I dislike:

... more>> EVERYTHING ELSE

The concept is that a random worthless nerd MC reincarnates into a random eroge that he liked.

He complains for a whole 2 chapters about the game and harem protagonists in general. Then he complains about the side kick he reincarnated into.

Would be cool if he would turn into a cool, strong character who ignores the bullsh*t protagonist or the girls and tries to create his own path... he doesn't.

This is for 9 year old children who still like the "groping", "walking into the bathroom and peeking at the heroine", "eating the poison food cooked by a dense mc", "meeting all stereotypes (mature "kind" woman, stoic sister, ret*rded maid, s*upid princess, list goes on) ", "wanting to dogeza for accidently touching a woman he risked his life to save" scenes.

It is all too much. The MC and by extension the author is the epitome of a beta male. I thought he was being funny at first but no. He is actually a complete failure of a human being and man. I wonder why he even made that long complaint about anime/Harem protagonists? He acts like the biggest one I have ever seen even after being reincarnated.

This is so pathetic and cringe that I honestly got angry after reading just these 28 chapters.

Don't read it. <<less

Ok so... dam I love this novel. I dunno why, but I just love it. I miss it every time I remember it and I wish it got more chspters translated. Its a shame, but hey I know one of these days I will get to read the whole story. I mean sure its nothing special, but there is a surprising lack of galge isekai novels. The only other one I can think of rn is Little tyrant and though imo thats a way better novel than even this one... more>> (tells you a lot given how I love this novel), its not really all that focused on the game aspect of its world (hell youd probably forget that its even based on a galge). Anyway back to this novel its just a fun story. I always love it when the MC gets isekaid into one of the heroes friends or just anybody thats not the protagonist of the game/ story. Add on to him getting hos own love intrests and yeah its a fun ride. Its a super light hearted story and lacks depth, but I find it just fun. To end this the MC is cool, the girls have nice personalities and are cute and/or hot, but there are too many of them which causes them to not get enough screen time. But hey I dont mind it that much, though I am worried about the harem in the future. <<less

I have seen people ranting quite a lot about this novel being boring af, cliche af, typical shounen harem shit, typical JP beta MC, boring side characters, fighting part is disappointing, etc. etc. So... Just to be clear, have you all ever played an eroge before?

Tl;dr: eroge player thrown into the eroge that he knows best and acts like a true "gentleman" in the situation

Longer version? None, because the sentence above summarized the whole thing, and it is done quite well, hence the 4 stars

I can see the point of... more>> those complaints, and I would like to question the sanity of those writing them, because I think they miss the whole point of this novel, which is how a normal member of the society who also plays eroge suddenly gets transported into the eroge he knows like the back of his hand, and decides to bring out his "gentleman" soul. The author is trying to recreate tropes in eroges and making fun of them while also partly sharing how he would act in those situations through the MC. So what did you guys expect through the description? Unexpected cultivation in an eroge? Seriously?

The only reason I gave it 4 star is that this is supposed to be a dungeon crawling eroge and yet barely have we seen MC in a satisfying action scene but other than that, just put yourself in the shoes of the MC and it would make sense perfectly. So give it a try if you have played eroges before, and if you haven't, played some eroges then think again about what you would do before ruining such a good novel by enforcing your own ideas.

I just wanted to address a couple of things.
Sure harem is annoying but honestly all the harem candidates are fully fleshed out in here.
Second, MC is not OP. He is strong but until this point it's just that he is precocious. Like a build in a video game, he is carefully choosing what best to use to become stronger. Well strength is not well defined, so it's a bit vague but his limitations and such are well explained. To be precise his lack of long range attacks which... more>> persists till now.

Third, the reason why people highly evaluate him is because of his behaviour you know. Eg:

Spoiler

Since he is very interested in the world of magic, he trains a lot. More so, he has a big goal and trains really diligently and this really attracts people around him.

Since he know the 'events' before they happen, people tend to think that he has a lot of foresight.

He handled the hateful gazes around him for a particular reason.

He makes a lot of uses of consumables and has a solid enough strat for dungeons, etc etc.

Just because you acknowledge the cliches doesn’t make it any better. The beginning was interesting as he desired to learn more about magic, but after a handful of chapters, he basically becomes the generic harem MC with an unnatural amount of perversion. Seriously, it’s like his enthusiasm for magic gets pushed to the side like 30 chapters in. I don’t mind slightly pe*verted MCs but it’s tedious when you can’t get through one chapter without the MC ogling someone or instantly thinking of b**bs or butts. It doesn’t make for... more>> an engaging story or character. There are a crap load of cliches that the MC is aware about and wants to avoid but doesn’t because...... reasons? Seriously, he straight up tells himself he won’t call this girl flat and two sentences later, he does it. Maybe people out there will like this, but it definitely wasn’t for me. <<less

i have read some reviews about the novel even though they only read like 20 chapters.

this story is what it does well, MC is fascinated by magic and wants to improve himself and become strong, he has no interest in harem or romance and his maid plans his harem for him and they slowly fall in love with him after seeing him work hard. (Sorry I can't tell the full story exactly as I read this some time ago and haven't touched this from sometime, but this is the basic... more>> synopsis and recommend everyone to read it not seriously but with enjoyment as it does not have serious plot) <<less

I'm truly enjoying this. I was hesitant at first since I'm not really into eroge, but this is a great read and it's the first novel to make me laugh in awhile plus it's more of an isekai than an eroge. I love where the story is going and the theories I think is going to happen is changed in a great way. The author is great and the translations are top notch. I'm glad I came across it. I won't throw our any spoilers because you should read... more>> it and get your own, I highly recommend it. It's even great to reread or binge read. <<less

This is another one I've read on syosetsu. In short, it's funny and ecchi, but not too ecchi because it's on the SFW site. I feel like you'll appreciate it more if you've played h-games before - the ones with actual gameplay - or if you've read and liked a few ecchi harem comedies.

This is not the kind of novel that needs a long explanation. Ecchi + Harem + Comedy with some action. There are many like it. This one is good but not good enough to stand next to... more>> the best of the genre. <<less

Picture the most stereotypical ecchi harem story from an eroge/manga/anime you can think of. That's this story. It's exactly as you expect it. The jokes play out as you expect them. The archetypes play out as you expect them. "But of course they do, he's in an eroge game!" you say, but it's still garbage. Not worth reading at all. I must have been bored when I decided to read this.

it's alright. Many reviews have already explained at length why.

Just a few nitpicks that makes this novel fall short from being “one of my best”:

–Pacing: Even after we enter the 100s chapters, in the story, it's been less than a year. In other words, what I mean is there's not much sense of an overarching, bigger plot like how the first couple of chapters made it seem to be. It kinda looks like the author has all these fun things planned, but he just puts all the slice-of-life-esque stuff instead... more>> because he's unsure how to approach the plot points that are actually important.

–Harem: If I'm cynical about it, the MC is a cheating, uncompromising bastard that professes his honest love for several women who love him back earnestly for some reason, but he never takes a step forward, he never compromises, he'll never be more than friends with these girls. The plot always leads our attention away from those moments at the last second. Like “I want you to be mine exclusively but I don't want to be yours.” We all know it's the author teasing us, the audience, so we read +500 chapters of the dude making lame s*x jokes. It's a tiring, outdated formula.

–Lucky pe*vert and no personality MC: Because it's a harem novel, the MC has to be bland as possible despite the author's own meta-commentary. Obviously, the MC has to get some girl's panties or make a s*x joke and then getting punched. Thankfully, the author decides to pretty much drop this trope in its entirety in the later chapters, but it's one of the most annoying things that happen at the start of this novel.

Lastly, I know that the translator is a madlad that almost pumped out chapters daily with this and his other series. Might be entirely MTL or just reliant on it, even so I think they're pretty decent. It's really commendable on his part, but it's just that it's clear that he's not very proficient at English. I wished that he would've put the chapters through Grammarly before posting them. The grammar mistakes and awkward phrasing are pretty basic errors that can be easily overlooked, but like, they do kinda take me out of the experience and even mess up several lines sometimes, making them unintelligible. <<less

This is a novel written for all of the "gentlemen" and "gentleladies" out there.

The main character (Takioto Kousuke) is a transmigrator taking on the role of the hero's male sidekick in a typical eroge rpg game where nearly every other character is a dateable female character. Where this novel shines is that our MC is not your typical s*upid male main character that tries not to be noticed. He's determined not to be relegated to the bench like every other male party member in an eroge rpg. He isn't passive... more>> and he's determined to be as strong as the game's main protagonist.

This is a good comedy, especially on how the author has the MC deal with all of the usual eroge tropes that happen.

I know it's cliche and all, but the author made it an enjoyable read. I probably read all the possibilities available so I don't mind a formulaic plot at all.

1. The transmigrated side character cliche.

-I love how the MC didn't go all his way to babysit the real protagonist and just sit aside so "tHe PlOt WiLl gO aS PlAnNed".

-The MC is also not a directionless, unambitious fool who just settles to be an average Mob because that's his character setting.

2. The Eroge/Otome cliche

-There's a sudden rise of LNs revolving around this plot. Tbh I'm not a fan, but the author didn't make it seem like a cringe-fest, which is nice.

The bad thing about this novel is the inconsistency of the character's default setting and his background. It just doesn't make sense. Also the MC's life is too smooth-sailing.

Great character development!

Unlike other Harem novels, the author gives the character time to develop. The heroines are not one dimensional, also if you lick THICC heroines then this novel is perfect for you.

The story is good, the MC starts from weak to strong and even though he managed to get stronger, the MC continues to grind compare to other novel where the MC one hit KO his enemy, in this novel the MC struggle and worked hard to get where he is, unlike other novels where MC OPness is given,... more>> in this novel the MC earns it. <<less

I really enjoy this novel, the update speed and translation quality are both good, and the story is wholesome and humorous. What really sells me on this novel is 100% the character interaction. This story is a really feel good story, the characters actually care about each other and will actually express it. There’s so many stories where characters will never change no matter how many crazy events happen, but in this one you can actually feel how the characters grow closer together with each new plot line. It’s not... more>> a perfect novel by any means but it’s one of the better harems I’ve read so far and I feel good reading it. So it gets 5 stars from me. <<less

Not bad. Though it's not really impressive, it has it's own uniqueness. It's entertaining enough in my opinion.

P.s.: Just don't expect any ero scenes despite it being supposedly a eroge because just like other typical jp protagonist, the MC is a pe*verted dense idiot that'll probably never have any relationship with female characters.

I normally dislike harem and ecchi series, but this one was hilarious and made me binge on all the current chapters in one day. This is a fun, action-packed training/fantasy/school life/slice-of-life/harem/comedy series. The MC somehow transmigrates into the supporting friend character of the protagonist of an eroge and simply decides to live life how he wants.

Takioto in the game passed off a lot of information onto the protagonist but has a unique magical constitution that prevents him from using emission magic (think Hunter x Hunter distance attacks with zetsu) in exchange for extreme mana capacity and talented enchanting-type magic instead. In the game, this character was mostly used as a shield early on and was then dropped by players when more heroines became available, but he had some other subtle responses hinting to his history and motivation that most players disregarded. Now, these details are much more important.

The transmigrator who becomes Takioto decides to live his life doing what he wants. Since he was an officer-worker from a modern-day world without magic, he instantly becomes fascinated and obsessed with magic and focuses on training it whenever he has spare time, turning him into the hardest-working character in this series. Since he can't use ranged magic attacks, he focuses on what he can do and enhances his melee combat abilities to become stronger. Takioto's parents were killed the year before, which the characters in-game use to explain his behavior. It's surprisingly compatible with the current Takioto. Since he knows the information the original Takioto knew, he casually passes it onto the protagonist when necessary. He lets the protagonist do his own thing without trying to interfere too much or replace him. He just wishes to become stronger than the protagonist at the end. Essentially, he does the important things Takioto in the game did as well as living his own life and doing as he pleases. If the protagonist makes a connection with one of the heroines, then so be it. He is very likeable, sometimes showing a sad expression, but he's easy-going and doesn't fight to steal heroines from the protagonist or anything like that.

Although this was an eroge, Takioto maintains his standards and sense of ethics from the previous worlds, including the famous "Yes, loli! No touch!" and not fapping to anyone under eighteen years old. He still likes to see naked women, but he values his life in this household of women who could easily kill him or make him live a life worth than death, proving that he has quite a bit of sensibility. He doesn't realize he's become protagonist material as well, but he still avoids doing anything inappropriate with the harem characters because he has other agendas and hasn't contemplated on any romantic goals. In the game, he collected everyone and liked various characters, but that's different from seeing them as real people and learning to truly love and care for them. He develops insight and recognizes them as his family and close friends by the end of the second arc. These are people. They are not game characters.

All of the characters have character depth and development, which is rare for a harem series. Takioto and his friends all have their own depth, history, connections, motivations, and plans for the future. Even the protagonist of this world shows depth and changes his personality based on the things he experiences, and he develops a goal of becoming Takioto's rival.

The setting is modern-day fantasy. It is fleshed-out and has a lot of mysteries and hidden secrets that were not revealed within the game. The setting and various floors use imagery to show what they look like. This is a real world, so not everything follows along with the game plot, and there are various subtle differences. Takioto himself is a peculiar oddity, and his identity and past are largely unknown.

The plot is good and moving smoothly so far, although there are many mysteries lying ahead and making me squirm with anticipation.

The only complaint I might have is that there are cliche groping and underwear moments in the beginning of the series, but this is, as repeatedly stated by the narrator, an EROGE. If it didn't have those moments, how could it be called an eroge?!

Therefore, I give this series a 5/5 rating. The people who gave this series low ratings appear to have quit the series too early for an accurate review or evaluated it based on the wrong genres.

One of the number one complaints so far; at least in the reviews I've read. Was how trope filled the novel was. That's KINDA the point. He's in a eroge game and the main character states, over and over in the beginning, the world of a Eroge game doesn't make sense. He even makes example cases in his explanation of an Eroge game that didn't make sense, but in a Eroge world, the impossible is possible.

He's supposed to be a side character, but this is the world of an Eroge... more>> game and could in actuality have an incredibly complicated background that was never added into the game. Being from a game development background, sometimes our side characters have more background story than our main characters. You just don't ever know it, and it's never included in the game. They're "pet characters" or just simply our Guilty pleasure characters.

The world may have been designed and released as a linear type eroge rpg game. With pretty strict rails at that for various romantic paths and options. But this also isn't a game anymore. The characters that were written are all there, there personalities all set, but Kouske our MC is an abnormality in this world and he's changed it already. I also believe though, there is a serious underlying plot that we've only had hinted to. We've had so far only two hints to this plot in 90+ chapters, but it leads to some pretty big speculation on who and what our MC actually is.

The story itself is filled with hilarious tropes and circumstances. One of them being a girl who can't cook and is so bad at it she washes rice with detergent. Someone complained about this in another reviews that it was unrealistic. That's the point, it's a major trope in anime/manga/eroge, a girl who can't cook so badly it's pure poison to ingest it.

All in all, I really loved this novel, I thought it was incredibly fun and there was tons of character development as the story goes on. Some of the development is directly caused by our MC interfering in various scripted circumstances that he knows about. One of them being, losing on purpose to a girl to try and make her get closer to the original MC. He takes actions at various points to make sure the original MC is growing as a character and getting girls included into his harem to make him stronger as a person. He fully utilizes his knowledge of the game to try and bring everyone to a good end. <<less

Tbh the story or chara is nothing really impressive but the way it's written that makes it real good. How many times an isekai is told that it's based of VR/otome/eroge game but feels nothing like it. This one really feels like you're playing an eroge.

The novel manage to find the balance between staying true to the supposed game story while making brand new story. Also the author make a really good work on painting the MC badassery so you can see how/why the heroines fell in love.

  1. It's slow pace killing me.
  2. From 2018 should be atleast 500 chapter.
  3. Why Japanese author so slow at building sh*t up? I mean I get it. If it's fun like galactic empire or great world building like harem s*ave then it's okay. But damn man. This is slow like sloooooooow. Slow update, slow development, slow progress but generic ass background and dry as frick comedy.
  4. Well I guess this is another Japanese novel where the story will end at the school graduation.
  5. Although Its an eroge reincarnation Its for ya little kid out there. So... Yea, not in my cup. Have fun kiddo.
