Welcome to Freia. A continent perpetually torn by war. Hundreds of years ago it was ruled by Magi, people capable of magic who viewed themselves as superior to those who could not. For thousands of years they ruled over common people… but times change.

Magic is a finite resource, and with its steady depletion, the magi grew weak. Eventually they were overthrown in a great war that saw them made all but extinct. Magic fell with them, becoming taboo in every way, the object of villainy in the novels of romance and heroism.

War is a human condition, however, and it has continued to wage unerringly between the successor kingdoms and empires as the common man fights to become master of the world left behind by the magi.

Magic has gone, but power remains, now wielded in the form of firearms and manpower. Muskets echo on the fields and cannons thunder on the ocean, even more so now that the greatest kingdoms on the continent have pushed out to colonise the far-away land known as Nubissia.

Born into this world of chaos is a young man, reincarnated from a salaryman in 21st century China. Lacking the prejudice against magic, and possessing a hobbyist’s knowledge of firearms and tactics, our young protagonist forges his path in a world where magic and musket war.

I like the story and the characters. Too bad MC never really try to upgrade his power and the story about the mage never really explored. Despite that still one of the best novel I read beside author other work TRL.

Hello Davros here:
Story tags: Transmigrator. Magic Alchemy. Modernize Weapons.

First, the author is a Realy big fan of Tolkien, he realy write the timeline main story like a old historical record. The side story isn't so creative.

The side story dances between poorly explained 18th century science and unstructured magic,

... more>> If you are looking for a story with a well-structured magic system, look for another, in this story magic is a story crutch.
If you look for scientific advancement, don't even start reading.

In this story in short it is about a transmigrator crushing all adversities with an average talent of knowledge in a world where education is not widespread, supported by magic as a defense.

Spoiler

Regarding the social aspects of the story, the MC lives in the racist equivalent of Europe in the 17th century, many of the thoughts described in this story are the same as how Europeans described Africans until the 17th century.
The description of the colonizers is kind compared to those Europeans who inspired them in the plot, with former adult s*aves, without child labor, and so far without "cut off hands and arms" from native mine diggers.

Excellent. Was not expecting anything. Come out great.

It's really neat reality though. Sh*t hit the fan all along and life suck. It's the die hard of the novel. While all the other film heroes are perfect, he is not, he is an average someone that turn out great.

I have long questioned the actions of the main character, but now they should I finally got burned, and boiling reached a high point. Claude conceded, thousands of possibilities, all perecheslyat tired this will cost the ultimate purpose visible.

When he met Maria, he could show her his Rouge, and then it turns out that he and drugoi the modification of the idea. She would have found someone to introduce him to. He obeyed his boss despite his hatred of him, despite his su*cide missions. He could kill him (just do not write about rassledovanija. A mage with forbidden spells and brains can ignore them. Mages just a hole in the balance of this war, they are very good UBICA. Apparently the mages in the Kingdom not many, and they do not follow insignificant units. Not to mention that Claude knows the entire internal structure of his unit and is already near his goal) could try to connect with Prince (using the relationship with Mary, or even without it). In the first conversation with the Prince, he could "accidentally" mention Maria.

Only it is not necessary to say that he did not have the main character likes to live well and is regularly repeats.

I hope my shitty English didn't break anyone's face :)

Well, this novel has way too many detailing explanation (about politics, ports, guns, boats, etc basically every single subject that is newly mentioned, will be explained in detail).

Not that it's bad, I'm just not the studying kind, so it's tiring for me to read something I know I would forget in the next five minutes.

And the MC is spending money kind of extravagantly. I would understand if he really is a 16 year old, but since he is a transmigrator, he should be mature enough to plan his spending (though... more>> since he is the MC, he does get lucky and get more money afterwards). And he doesn't shows respect to his father in this new world. Even when you know your parents are wrong, you shouldn't forget to give respect to your elder.

Spoiler

This is one the scene that annoys me:

Claude's father had also started grumbling about his shoes again and Claude had slammed the four riyas the shoes had cost on the desk in front of his father.

"Fine, here's the money for the damned shoes. Stop bugging mother over it!"

It's finally getting in the plot somewhat after 80 or so chapters. I'm fine with slow paced story, I just thought that without the info dump (which I skimmed anyway) this could be compacted to half the words count it is now.

Spoiler

when explaining why a spell is forbidden, usually most would just write "a thief use this spell in blahblah way to steal from the king" and would end in two sentences; yet the author of this novel gives a story on how it happened, the event it took place, the investigations, the aftermath, etc until it became a short story of its own (which doesn't have anything to do with the main story) in several long paragraphs only to emphasize that it's forbidden

Well, I'm giving this a 3 star though, since some people will still like the extra-long explanations, while I prefer a simple summary. <<less
