I loved it and there is only one thing I want

Spoiler

Qi Kai deserves a rebirth. I want a story with Qi Kai returning to the past where his grandpa is still alive and then an action story where he takes down the drug lords and saves that child.

My first impression of him was bad but bro really had character development woah

One of the better boys love out there. Romance isn't the focus and it's very meticulous and careful as it moves forward. Main character is likeable and not OP. Uses his brains, charisma and knowledge to get what he wants. Love interest is a little mysterious but not too cliche. The story avoids *lots* of cliches and the face slapping is satisfying and not overwhelming silly. Love the time period too. Would love to read more novels like this. Very well done. Many thanks to the translator too.

It was amazing, to be more precise - 4.5 / 5. Humor, characters, their interactions and how MC f*ck the financial and real estate worlds thanks to their past life knowledge. But. As soon as the relationship with ML was more or less established, everything slowly began to move into this calm, measured and serene family life, which is so good that it is close to fantasy. Sweetly, especially in extras. Combined with the fact that MC has big eyes and a soft innocent tenderness, loves pink and children, and... more>> ML is an almost typical domineering and jealous iceberg-president, this... hmm... becomes very similar to the omegaverse, yes.

So, I lacked a sense of the crisis or at least the constant risk associated with entrepreneurship, especially when it comes to hundreds of millions. This is really not the kind of reading that will keep you mentally and psychologically tense. It is always safe to say that the MC will defeat all villains and resolve any situation. All situations are mostly small and relatively simple.

But feelings and attitudes are described very well here. Read this if you want to relax! <<less

OK. I first want to thank the translator.... they do a good job.

I got impatient and finished reading it via the mtl though. (which can get rough).

Overall I liked it. As mentioned before it is a bit of a fluffy romance, but I didn't mind that part.
Spoiler

If anything I would have preferred a bit more business dealing. But given the circumstances that this guy was not really a genius and was just using what he remembered.. it actually made sense.

Also, the fact that no one really made anymore of a drama about them being together was also sensible since they were already very wealthy and powerful at that point... so if they did they either risked alienating them or offending them....

For a novel that's less than a hundred chapters, this one is surprisingly satisfying. The slow romance tag is on point but makes up for it towards the end. A lot of the story background and such is done through narrative - less dialogue - so if you feel impatient with that you can opt to skip through those parts quickly. I like the way the author emphasizes the solidarity and support of families although it's not seen with the MC's side. This one is surprisingly worth binge reading.

First of all, what makes this novel different from others are all the perspective that are written thorough the novel. It's not just a simple story of how the protagonist met his true love and happy end, but it's much more than that.

Personally, what I like about this novel is how everyone have their story and ending, may it be a happy one or bad one. Especially some of the side character's character development which is astonishing.

There are also many elements of business world that are new for the readers... more>> and also intriguing to know and interesting that cause me want to know much more. The entire novel revolve around the business world may it be from technology development or the raise in price as the country developed.

The romance between the two male leads are sweet like an aged wine, no drama, no misunderstanding, just like a flowing river full of sweetness. Mind to remember you, this story is in the 90s in China, therefore there are many discrimination against male and male couple, but in this story the love between the two male leads make everyone accepts them, therefore why I said, no drama.

And last of all, it's readable and understandable by MTLing but I must say it totally doesn't satisfied me and I'll totally follow the translation. Good work for the translator that translate this novel and made me interested in MTLing it, cause it was such a good novel :) <<less

This novel is absolute gem.

Exciting plot, yes. Fluffy sweet silly romance, yes. Hilarious sibling moments, yes. Heart breaking past lives and regrets, yes.

I like that there's no over the top drama and misunderstandings just to deepen feelings between characters. This is quite a plot driven story which emphasize on economic reform. There's not much difficult jargon so even if I know not a lick about the financial world, I can read it easily. Beside the sh*t translation because I read MTL. Lol

The intricate familial relationship and conflicts are well defined.... more>> I honestly have no dissatisfaction about the novel. Which is quite rare.

I don't notice if there's any plot hole, but the story flows really nicely and it felt like everything just goes full circle. It soothes my heart.

The one I'm most satisfied with is the ending of one of the villains. Most of rebirth novel like this has just horrible endings for the villain but this particular one makes me soft hearted and I didn't want them to have bad ending. Thankfully, the author is very sensible.

Again, love this novel. The current translation to english is really good as well. And I'll keep following the translation. I highly recommend this novel. <<less

Omg, have read to chapter 16 so far and would MTL if MTL wasn't so bad, but so far this is so good! The pacing is great, the plot is slowly coming to fruition, and it's just so well-written overall! MC is a straight-up bad-ass but not in an unrealistic way. He is also convincingly sincere and good-natured, you can't help but root for him when adversity comes his way. If I had a lot of money, I'd bankroll the translations for this amazing novel!

Hey there, it's Pure! As the second translator concluding the rendition of this novel, I find it fitting to share my personal review.

Just so you know, I intentionally avoided peeking ahead when I first dove into this title. There was some buzz about readers wishing Qi Kai got a second life, which got me a bit nervous, but I gotta say, the ending played out pretty smoothly.

Despite being a bit of a rollercoaster, I absolutely adore the ending! The story's threads were neatly tied up—though I might think it's a... more>> tad too tidy at times. Every character kind to our MC was granted a happy and prosperous ending, while the antagonists received retribution. And these punishments were not taken lightly; some of them quite graphic, so reader's discretion advised.

I hope my translation did justice to this novel. If you spot any inconsistencies, don't hesitate to let me know in the comment section (I read every one) ! Cheers! <<less

3.5 stars to 4 stars.
It was a very nice read and would say an all round novel.

The MC is happy with "small" wins after rebirth and he makes sure the people that took care of him are doing well too. I could say I resonate well with him.

The ML is a little bit weird, like his relationship with his family and his sister in particular, but oh well.

This novel focuses on MC making good choices for himself and the people around him.

ML is rarely there. Don't even expect him to appear before ch20.

MC doesn't care about revenge at all. All he wants is to grow stronger before his knowledge of the future runs out.

He is calm, rational, and not OP. But he has smooth sailing after rebirth. Even tho MC doesn't plan revenge, the author does it with butterfly effects.

Tbh, seeing how smooth everything goes for MC, It's boring. But I still like it.

Great rebirth novel that focuses on family and relationships.

It would have been a lot better if there was no romance. Not that I don't like BL, but after MC and ML got together I feel like they both became a lot less interesting individually and the focus shifted from business to their relationship, which was boring.

I liked the MC's development of his family relationship with his estranged father and stepmother and step sister.

Not quite what I was expecting. From the summary, my initial thoughts on this story was... well something along the lines of a very mature man making big waves in business? That does happen in the novel, but it’s more like... well *thinkingface* let’s try this again! The main focus of the story is the growth of the MC (Lin Jingzhe). He gets a second chance at life and is directly reborn as an 18yo. At the time, he was still living in a semi-rural area as a high school... more>> student aiming to get into college. So the first arc of the novel is him taking on the college entrance exams and getting past his family drama. This part was relatively slow, it takes a bit of time for him to push into business, and most of his moves are the high-risk, almost-gambling type, so it doesn’t have the tone most poor-to-rich novels have (which usually involve putting in a lot of effort to earn capital and slowly working hour way up). He’s in it to earn big, so he doesn’t waste his time and jumps in directly.

Because of this premise, the story has a more mature, fast-paced theme. But the writing itself is a bit slow? As mentioned by other reviewers, the author is quite wordy and has a tendency to add info-dumping. I don’t mind this since I love worldbuilding, but it is admittedly a bit of a dry read at times. The romance with the ML (Xiao Chi) who is very similar to the MC when it comes to investments, is a bit more exciting in contrast. But because the TL stopped right when things were getting spicy, I can’t tell whether further developments will be good T.T I’ll warn you now... I was hoping I would be able to read the MTL for this. But it ended up being horrible! Only 60% readable. It’s weird because some parts are very coherent, and other parts just *explosion*. Anyway, I’m a bit hesitant to give this novel a full rating cause I didn’t finish it. I do recommend it to those interested in novels about business management, but it’s unfinished state is definitely a bit of a hot poker most will probably want to avoid so! For now, I’m leaving this unrated and not fully reviewed. Current estimates would have me rating the novel at around 3.75-4/5. Which is slightly better that average for me. <<less

Aww such a shame that the translation has stopped here. I'm willing to optimistically wait in case it gets picked up again but I might just try to continue with MTL if I run out of good novels to read like this one!

MC is refreshing, though he seems to have some violent tendencies.. He can carry himself well and even bluff his way around the rich bigshots despite his contrasting background. He's smart, resourceful but also seems to care for his friends and loved ones.

ML is a funny two-faced gap,... more>> and hits my weakness for the enemies to lovers trope. I like reading a bit of his POV. He and his sister are a treat! They're a hilarious duo.

Quite interesting to read about the gradual growth of the economy as part of the plot, I enjoyed reading about MC's thought process, and the background behind his decisions. Translator has put heaps of notes as well which made it very insightful for me.

I do find the MC a bit selfish though, he does a few things behind his friends' backs (he himself believes it's for their own good but doesn't stop to consider their own thoughts really), it doesn't sit well with me personally. Especially after having Deng Mao become his subordinate when he already had his own plans prior to them moving to Yan city.. I honestly think MC doesn't seem to treat them as equals, and seem to take care of them like they're his own pets? Maybe it's because mentally he is, like, in his 30s.. <<less

As a novel about a character trying to correct their mistakes in a past life, it is well written and interesting to read.

The problem is the author's "Show, Don't tell" style with lots of exposition and what constitutes "info dumps". I would have preferred to read and infer things instead of the author pointing out everything in detail.

Both main characters are rather extreme in their personalities; it makes it difficult to suspend one's disbelief. One is cold and analytical and the other is an eccentric to say the least. The... more>> way they supposedly fall in love feels forced and unrealistic.

I'll be dropping this novel. It just didn't work for me. <<less

It's so good!! I find this novel few weeks ago, but am doubtful, ya because the background of this story is the nineties so I thought this novel story would be boring. But NO! The story is really good!!! MC is a rebith but he's not OP, and he's so care to his friends, ah relationship with ML too is so good and cute!! ML not typically cold man like other ML in many books, he's not cold but cool for me. Ah its so good, I wanna search MTL... more>> soon for this story, I can't wait to read to the end!! <<less

At long, long, long last, I have finally finished reading Epiphanies of Rebirth in Chinese. I cannot believe it only took two months, because believe me, it felt like half a year. It did take me twice as long as it took me to read novels in Chinese before this, which can be accounted for by the book being twice as long. I was fooled by the ordinary number of chapters, when in fact, each chapter is twice as long as an ordinary one... I did feel, when I leapt... more>> off after the forty-first chapter, that I might be making a mistake, but I couldn't help it, it was literally just when the two main characters caught afire with passion... and I guess it wasn't a mistake in the end, after all, the translator's put out one new chapter in the time it took me to finish the book 😂

It probably seemed to drag at least partly because it's a bit more of a slice-of-life book, focusing on business achievements and complex plot plays more than romance, and that sort of thing has a slower pace to begin with, not to mention being more difficult to parse in a language you're still learning. I probably would've enjoyed it much more if I'd either read it in English, or my Chinese was fluent... All that said, it was written very well, and the author had the virtue of having less typos, mostly just a few repeated words, compared to the three other books I've read in Chinese. The author was really able to bring out the three-dimensionality of its characters, rather than reducing anyone to stereotypes. I especially love how, even though there's definitely a face-slapping theme to the book (and I don't even like face-slapping),
Spoiler

the author didn't simply grind down the villainous characters to complete ruins, but was able to show them years later, and how they'd changed for the better. In fact, they might even have turned out better than if Lin Jingzhe were never reborn—not materially, but spiritually.

[collapse]

All in all, it was worth reading. <<less

MTL completed.

Quite satisfactory plot, even though halfway thru, the story more focused on the people around the protagonist thus made him seem like a background.

The intense business growth was also finished once he got together with ML.

This novel is pretty much up my alley. I love the plot development and I like MC's personality. Initially, I didn't want to read this novel, mixing it up as something related to tragedy but I was wrong. I just simply hate that I haven't read it earlier enough.
