Honestly, this novel was interesting at first, then it quickly developed into a very stereotypical CN novel. It has gone through all the tropes so far, it's like they have a list for them. "Troubled past" check. "Reincarnation" check. "Past memories" check. "Arrogant young master" check. "Face slapping bullshit" check.

All venting aside, this novel leaves much to be desired. I'm only 54 chapters in and the story has already started doing the bullsh*t Chinese word count nonsense where the author repeats the same f*cking thing for three paragraphs. If that... more>> isn't enough, there's more. Now at random times during the story, the author will launch into exposé about some random bullsh*t for no apparent reason at all.

To elaborate on the previous statement, I'm gonna put a spoiler. This is just to cover my ass though, I won't actually spoil much of anything because anyone bothering to read this review has probably already read so many of these novels that what I have to say won't surprise you in the least.

Spoiler

From what I understood of the story, the MC is basically the reincarnation of some guy from another world, his memories were delayed from surfacing for like 16 or 18 years or some other nonsense, but the point here is that before he got these memories he lived the typical life of a chinese student, school, studying, the works. He gets these magic memories, and that's just it, they are MEMORIES, from ANOTHER WORLD. They have absolutely nothing to do with the "earth" that he is currently living on. So now the MC falls into a "Lucky Chance" while trying to rescue a female (what a surprise) and of course, it's from some nonsense sect on earth. The problem that I have right now is that immediately after finding this sects shit, the author launches into this exposé about who the sect is and what time period they're from what kind of history they have and all this bullsh*t nonsense. But there is just one problem. HOW DOES THE MC KNOW ALL THIS BULLSHIT!?

This novel is completely bunk, just like all of the other Chinese novels that are currently being published nowadays. If a plot hole this big appears within 60 chapters of the story f*cking starting, not a single f*ck was given during the proofreading process. Hell, half the f*cking plot was thrown out the window in the first 20 chapters. The MC unlocked his memories because he literally sniffed a female and she smelled nice. Now he got "SOME" of his memories back, not all of them, "SOME", what happens after that? They proceed to not mention it again, ever. (At least to the 54 chapter mark)

Let's just say that I am reading this cause I am bored out of my mind and nothing to read. This novel is the typical CN novels with dual cultivation and weird situations trying to lead to harem. I am just skimming chapters at this point and only looking at dialogues.

i don't even know why I am reading this lol at least Against the Gods has really great action and harem is done decently too compared to most CN's.

I wouldn't recommend this novel to anyone unless you are at a... more>> point where you have read novels like: A valiant life, I am Superstar... etc. <<less

The first few chapters of this novel showed great potential where MC seemed like a simple nice guy who happens to "re-live" a past life. He gains those abilities of this past life and then the novel started plunging off a tall cliff. MC becomes an arrogant douchebag that provokes people left and right because he's so awesome and looks down on everyone else.

One of the parts I hate the most was the author mentions the MC has high IQ and EQ, but then the story pans out where the... more>> MC's EQ is equivalent to nothing from the way he acts around people. He doesn't have any self-regulation, lacks empathy, and lacks social skills. Someone lacking 3 out of 5 major categories of emotional intelligence shouldn't be described as having a high EQ. At the later chapters, his IQ turns out to hillbilly level and annoyed the crap out of me.

And if you don't like how women are portrayed as pie-in-the-sky objects that land fortuitously into the MC's mouth, you might want to skip this novel. Worst, he'll become an overly possessive guy with stalker tendencies if you try to leave him. Even as a guy, I was like "WTF?" This is probably one of the reasons the novel is so lowly rated here. <<less

It's like the author just copied ideas from different novels and threw it in together. The problem is, he copied it from the worst novels.

From idiotic h**ny young masters to s*upid women to aphrodisiacs. Yes for some reason, every modern day chinese novel seem to always have aphrodisiacs available like you could buy them easily from their pharmacy.

The MC here is borderline rapist. But author makes it seem like it's ok just because the MC could apologize and say "I was just playing around". The girls would somehow just be... more>> fine with it too. This is in our CURRENT world by the way. Everything this MC does is despicable with no remorse whatsoever. There's no major plot here, no world building either, no memorable side characters too. In short, this novel has nothing worth remembering by. Also, I don't know why but most modern chinese LN, including this one is always depicting how terrible china as a country to live in. Full of shallow narrow minded, violent people and selfish corrupt officials. I hope this is not entirely true because that would really be horrible, more so with a population of that size!

Read only if you got free time and nothing else to read. <<less

Honestly I like the fact that this story is somewhat happening in the modern era. To my disappointment, MC's brutality is no where near a healer should be acting. He doesn't abide to today's law, eg he kills just because of so called being provoked. Well he does not seems to care as he walks the path of cultivator!! Seriously?? This is the modern day we talking about.

Spoiler

Though is supposedly be in the modern era, but cultivators keep popping out like nobody's business and MC kills just because he feels like doing so, by the way he himself who pokes his nose everywhere and invites unwanted attentions and troubles in the first place.

Anyways, he supposed to be a healer but so far he kills way more than providing medical help. So in one way he is "invincible" but the healer part, it's a bit ridiculous. His medical practice is so worthless as he does not appreciate life, easily provoked (comically) and have a twisted mind. I really don't understand in what way does this represent a healer etiquette!!

To me this story is poorly written and the title itself misleading. Some say this is a good story, sorry, I just can't agree. I would elaborate more on why I rated 1 star, but I'm using my mobile to post and it's kinda meddlesome to write a long one, so I just list out one point that I think the biggest flaw <<less

Started off OK, pretty standard plot line but at some point in the story the MC became absolutely unlikable. Constantly 'teasing' female characters, the dialogue isn't worth bothering with, neither is the storyline by this point either. MC is supposedly a miracle Doctor and has so far healed about 3 people and killed 20x that many. Worth a read if you're bored and have absolutely zero other options to read otherwise I wouldn't bother.

At the very least this author is trying to copy from a legitimately good novel. At chapter 52 is when the protagonist falls down the cliff and finds the Ming Cult's leader's tomb. Yeah, that Ming Cult, that same cave, and indeed he finds the Nine Yang Manual and the 乾坤大挪移 manual. This novel is set in the Condor-Trilogy-verse.

However, the author doesn't have a quarter of Louis Cha's writing ability and we thus far have a very lackadaisical do-nothing protagonist. And all the problems Louis Cha predicted would happen if... more>> he tried to apply Wuxia tropes to a modern setting is indeed happening in this story. It is particularly clear when we see the protagonists firing his rifle with 100% accuracy; "ancient" martial arts and medicine really loses its allure in the face of modern armies.

And even when we suspend our disbelief and pretend that Wuxia heroes could still exist today, this Mo Wen isn't one. We didn't see him work for an iota of his strength or skills. He is contaminated by the sh*t standards of webnovels and light novels, where the blessings of systems, transmigration, reincarnation, and time travel magically gifts the protagonist with Mary-Sue-dom and skips all the real story-telling.

But hey, I am only 52 chapters in, so maybe things could still change. Also the foundation set by Louis Cha automatically pushes this story up by two stars. I lol'd at the people giving this story 1 star because they don't get the references.

I am at chapter 78 now. This novel really doesn't know what it wants to be between the Wuxia, the medical drama, the fanfiction, the harem bullshit. I think the most unforgivable thing is how the protagonist mastered 乾坤大挪移 at the drop of a hat. It was already bullsh*t when Zhang Wuji did it in "Heaven Sword and Dragon Sabre." How the hell do you expect us to believe he developed the Inner Qi necessary in less than two months?

Yeesh... 184. If you really need a comparison. Imagine a person writing Tolkien in the modern world, and they keep having people pop up who are randomly Dunedain, Noldor, or whatever. You know what the author is trying to do, but it is just cringy. <<less

I don't really get why all the hate. It has a ret*rded MC and ret*rded plot, but it normally would grant it a 3.5-3.6 in this page.

If you enjoy modern world and harem you gonna like it. Nice action scenes, nice fanservice.

I saw a few readers annoyed at some female characters and s*upid misunderstandings, they are.

Some of the earlier reviewers are indeed correct. So do think for yourselves if you wanna pick it up.

Why i've given this a 3 star is because I tihnk it has potential and is quite interesting for me at least, it's just the whole "misunderstanding" which I wont say more and youll discover on your own is getting a bit out of hand and I personally dislike it very very VERY much.

ALSO NOTE TO READERS, ... more>>
Spoiler

The earlier reviews about the MCs memories is very faulty. he gets all of his memories up to a certain point/ maybe first 20-30 years or so and he is already extremely strong extremely knowledgable etc. + it was more like his old and new personality/memories merged together as one. also because his last lifes memories were most likely /almost definitely longer than his modern one, the large difference in temperament etc. is reckoned for. On another note the whole bullsh*t about "how would he know about that faction/ ming?" is even qin xiaouyu knows some about them so him knowing some regular facts is normal since hes an A student + a good thing to note is he reads a diary etc. so things like a goodbye note to whoever finds the body and which faction they were, some background information and maybe even a diary of what lead this to happen. (in the novel he is even explicitly said to read such a memo) so most of what Sjackson says is utter bullshit. Ofcourse I have to agree to things like all the common troupes but not having an arrogant spoiled rich kid is kinda weird at this point right? I mean most novels do... even things like heavens library does... and the extra word count bullsh*t is also annoying to a certain degree. its still readable no doubt but somethigns could have been written shorter... The last note is we dont know if he got his power specifically for "sniffing" a female but either that or having to save a person (most likely the female but it kind of makes sense if you think about it) The girl he sniffed is a teacher at a school, has several students and amongst them im certain the MCs "sister" lookalike is amongst them. so by sniffing the cent of the last lifes sister (she is looks the same, smell the same, has the same disease, same personality and more) and he also only got memories then upto the point of trying to save his SISTER so theres that out of the way. well happy reading I guess.

I wish I could give this a rating lower than 1 star. I doubt there is one reader that would think this MC is likeable. I dont know if the writer is in his sane mind. What he describes as just teasing the ladies is pretty much psychopathic behavior. I will give you an example here. He convinces a lady he just met that he is going to kill her and use her blood to mature some herb. Author wrote a few paragraphs of dialog between him and the lady... more>> where he is literally showing that he is going in for the kill. And when he does not kill the lady, according to author the lady understands that he was just teasing her. Tell me how does this make any sense ? This alleged teasing episode happens when ever he is around females characters.

Forget about this novel. I think the authorities need to pay attention to this writer as he is danger to society if he think this behavior is good old normal teasing. <<less

pros

    • some deus ex machina??
    • no harem??
    • great premise/start
cons

    • starts with no harem but eventually it does.... and quite cringey in the way it was made... the author doesn't have the knowledge for harems
    • weird MC... at first he's okay and somewhat---agreeable... but the more he increases his levels/kung fu he becomes more like an as*hole especially to women who likes him or to his friends... f*cking MC a**hole
    • his OP skill is some weird shit... why bother getting one at all?
    • every girl or women he knows always needs rescuing... making it feel like filler episodes from naruto
    • really? a university that allows absent attendance in all subjects and MC is still assured for graduation?...i vomited a little...
    • healer in the title is a misnomer... this MC is a killah and only heals his b*tches and himself or as long as he gets something out of healing someone else...
    • cultivators in the modern era are like cabbages and they are f*cking everywhere in the mc's world!
    • for a "modern era" setting... killing seems to be OKAY and no police or military in sight when sh*t happens
