Comedy and second-hand embarrassment of novel is great, I like his silly roommates and friends, so like always we have a sunshine MC and moon like ML. READING THIS NOVEL WILL BRINGS YOU ENJOYMENT AND SWEETNESS :D
What drew my attention to this novel was its synopsis. Initially, I thought that the story was quite cute and comedic. Unfortunately, that impression soured almost immediately when I found myself getting progressively more irritated the more I read. I had been looking forward to reading it too! I think that it's normal as readers to look for relatable traits or attributes in the characters we read about. The reason for this is simply so that we can better understand, empathize and connect with the characters. This would then enable us to further invest ourselves into the contents of the novel and in all, make reading all the more enjoyable! Sadly, in the case of this novel, it was exactly those reasons listed above -- that would normally help me to enjoy a novel-- that hindered me from further reading. It was incredibly frustrating for me to even sit through the first few chapters because of how well I could relate to MC's circumstances of being misunderstood. I was especially put off by the lack of listening and communication between MC and his "friends" + ML. The entire encounter was incredibly uncomfortable for me to read (it felt very toxic). Now we could say that, "Misunderstandings occur everywhere in media!" And they do. 'Misunderstandings' isn't an unusual trope in media. The concept has appeared countless times in novels, films and other entertainment content alike in order to help drive the plot. It is often used and intended to create the drama and angst that we see so much in soap operas, dog blood novels and such (it has the ability to 'spice' things up). So! I am not saying that the misunderstanding trope is terrible nor do I despise it. I am simply saying that I believe there is a better way the author could have written and utilized the trope in the novel. For instance, some novels that utilize the trope first issue a reasonable sort of circumstantial restriction to cause the misunderstanding. This would then lead to a lack of communication between two or a group of characters. The novels often give reason for a character's behavior and why there is a cut in communication. However, in the case of this novel, I feel that it does not flesh out the misunderstanding as well as others that I've read. There is no real reason why the characters refuse to listen to MC. It's not as if they're deliberately sabotaging their ability to hear out of spite for the MC, nor is there any reason why the MC's words are worth disregarding (like is he pied piper? The novel doesn't state that he's some sort of psychopathic liar) SO there really is no reason for his 'friends' to not value MC's opinion unless the author wants to paint them as terrible 'friends' and communicators which is what I'm getting. Frankly, had the novel not already established their relationships, it would've been difficult for me to tell whether this scene involved MC's friends or if this was just another case of bullying. To crudely sum it up, I highly disliked the characters and reading this annoyed the flip outta me so instead of continuing, I'm going to look for something I think is actually worth my time. This was only my experience. You may not feel the same things or relate to the MC in the same way I did. As the (hopefully) mature people we are, let's respect others opinions and not be unreasonably difficult just because you see that somebody doesn't think like you. On that note, whether or not you enjoy this novel in the end is all down to preference. Happy reading!
It's so cute that despite the MC being forever 'second place' in terms of studies/competitions, he's actually extremely friendly/outgoing/valued by his community, so his interpersonal skills can be said to definitely outshine the ML.
It's unfortunate but most CN books completely romanticize r*pe/obsession/stalking/stockholm syndrome/dependent personality disorder/possessiveness etc. So the romantic relationships portrayed tend to be extremely unrealistic as well as unhealthy.
They moved A's stuff into B's room. B was okay with it, but still.
The MC's friends and classmates assume he likes the ML only because he secretly took pictures of him to trade for pictures of someone he DOES like. Then nobody takes his word for it and keep trying to push them together. And the ML barely helps to clarify and just let it continue and the MC is frustrating for not rebuking everyone saying he likes the ML, when he doesn't.
