★★★★☆ [4/5 stars]

This novel might not be for everyone since it can upset a lot of people because it definitely has some upsetting topics. Trigger warnings: xenophobia, h*mophobia, racism and such. But personally I was hooked with the story itself from beginning to end.

This has the best face slapping and revenge moments and those moments definitely weren't the best for those parties against the MC and ML. Both of them are not saint and they can be considered as a black-bellied characters. ML is ruthless and cold when dealing with... more>> people who provoked his lover. MC is a 'little bit' merciful than the ML but those people who tried to f*cked him up, no one will be left untouched. He wanted to handle them on his own as much as possible rather than seeking help from his lover. He's quite independent and I loved that about him. He's not the typical 'damsel in distress' who would always be saved by his 'knight'.

I loved that they're equally powerful in every aspects. Though they bicker a lot (which I find so adorable and funny at the same time), they respect each other so much. They're each other's beloved and strongest opponent at the same time. Their relationship is definitely not toxic which I admire. I also found it hilarious when the ML created a side account just to flaunt his fanboy version. He spent SO MUCH buying every products his lover endorsed without his lover knowing (imagine, 10, 000+ copies of a single magazine and more similar situations), even bought a separate villa just for his collections LMAO I say yes for him being a supportive, devoted and doting lover!!

I personally recommend this novel, but I still want to say that read this at your own discretion!! <<less

The story isn't anything groundbreaking. I honestly had a premonition about how the story will progress and it really happened. But since there are so many good reviews, I decided to try it but I was really disappointed. It is like every other story. Nothing new.

ML is the usual cliche type- extremely petty, unreasonable, nosy, way too OP, cold, indifferent, dominating, handsome, tall, smart, calculating, black hearted, narrow-minded, vindictive and sex-driven.

I don't know about others but I particularly hate this type of ML. He is a f*cking male chauvinist.

Spoiler

"I said it hurts! Are you still not removing it?"

Xi Ze raised an eyebrow. "You want me to listen to you?"

Ming Yu nodded. "Yes."

Xi Ze's lips curved. "Then I am not a man."

The next moment, the young man's eyes widened as Xi Ze started a frantic thrusting.

[collapse]

So does the ML mean that MC isn't a man or that if a male listens to his partner, he won't be a man anymore? Is this kind of dialogue supposed to be romantic, funny or something? Guess what? Its neither romantic nor funny. It's suffocating and humiliating.

I don't care if the guy bottoming really doesn't care about being the bottom because everyone has their own choices. But in the story MC wants them to be a reversible couple very strongly. ML also promises that everytime but when the time comes, he never fulfills his promise. He is a f*cking arrogant bastard. Does he think he will lower himself if he bottomed? I seriously hate this kind of mindset. I know there are some stories where bottom really doesn't care about bottoming or topping. It's fine as long as they don't care. But the ML here, ugh, I just hate these typical MLs. Period.

I like the MC. He is cunning, beautiful, and a nice young man. He is confident and trustworthy. He is friendly as well unlike ML. It is said in the novel that ML has many friends. But with his shitty personality, how the hell did he even made friends? He is so petty for god sake! Coming back to MC, he always aims for the top, and he has the qualifications and resources to achieve it on his own. And he does it as well. It is good to see him steadily rise in his career and make new fans and friends on every corner. I can't help cheering for him. But since I dropped it in chapter 141, I don't know how he will grow in the later chapters either.

I am not trying to nitpick but this flow is so wrong:

Spoiler

"Ming Yu woke up with a severe headache.

It felt like he had been crushed by a heavy truck, splitting his head into several pieces. The left side of his brain was stiff, while the right side of his brain was stinging. Both sides aggravated his nerves, causing him to suddenly wake up. His sweaty body shot straight up.

His vision was blurred for a moment. Ming Yu blinked and things slowly came into focus. After looking at the things in front of him, Ming Yu's smile froze."

[collapse]

He is having a severe headache but once he opens his eyes, his smile freezes. You mean he was smiling while having a headache? Lol. <<less

Although there are some points at which the novel gets a bit boring, for the most part, it was really interesting. Mostly how the MC was always choosing to fight his own battles rather than relying on others. He is the typical MC who doesn't cause trouble but once someone tries to fight him, he becomes ruthless. The relationship between the MC and the ML was also really cute. It wasn't overly cheesy or with the typical unconditional love, but it was pure in its own way all the same.

  1. Yes, they all have good temperature/temperament Yes, they are all great photographers

Yes, they are all handsome and beautiful

Yes, if you read with no brain function activated you surely can enjoy this.

Who is Cheng Su? Why did the MC reincarnate?

I didnt bother thinking anymore after 10 chapters and just read quickly only to enjoy ML & MC interaction.

Its repetitive and its smooth sailing unlike my life.

    ........

Control lens? Do you mean control your gesture, and know which pose will make you look great?

Why the fck models need to pay attention to lighting? Its the photographers job to set what type of lighting will fit the mood to enhance the object of interest.

Its only a goddamn walking posture. Why does it seem like a kuroko no basket version of modeling?

(Actually 4.3 for me) I loved the ending and the extra chapters.

I hesitated reading this because of comments like how the Gong/seme is an as*hole type (typical seme you see in most of the bl novel) and I don't like that kind of seme most of the time. I was so ready to not like him but...... well, he wasn't an as*hole like those typical gong, instead I kind of like his personality. He may be an as*hole for others but he wasn't ever for our Uke/Shou.

A lot people... more>> commented about xenophobia thing and........ well, I am just choosing to ignore it, since this is just a novel and this kind of things are quite common in this kind of area and genre. I have seen this things happens in lots of novels and movies be it chinese or other countries.

One thing I didn't like in this story was the smooth sailing of MC to the top no 1. Although it was undertable but I was expecting for a lot more things to happen..... well.... ( -᷄ ω -᷅). <<less

It's kinda sad that I held off on this novel for so long because of bad reviews.

Now let me get this straight: I cannot do fluff novels. I read action, plot and romance in a balanced stream. I need the angst and drama and tea. Funny enough, even with this novel not satisfying all my requirements, I adored it. Detail was something people hated, but I loved the detail. It puts you right in the scene as a reader. Plot was semi predictable, yet I enjoyed the whole ride.

People noticed... more>> the "xenophobia" and I did too, but it's not as exaggerated as people say. And honestly, as an American, I can get why the author portrayed some westerners (important to mention not ALL westerners) as racists—I mean, she's not wrong. Hate to say it, but we have a lot of work to do in that regard. And I mean each to their own, we all have nationalistic pride of our country. This novel reflects that, but I didn't see any blatantly racist remarks against westerners? I don't get where people got that Ming Yu said they were ugly and shit?

Overall, ignore the bad reviews because honestly, they're not worth dropping this novel for. It's a light read, but our MC faces some challenges that prevents this novel from being a tasteless read. I liked it, and I usually hate novels like this so nuff said. I recommend it after you've faced some serious angst sh*t show (or maybe an intense novel) and you need some reprieve and constant smiles. <<less

Not going lie, this novel is boring. I have never yawned to much while reading. The book that no humor or uniqueness. The charaters are plain and overpowering.

One of comment claimed the MC didn't have QWTFD mc's omnipotent, I disagree, he had a lot of omnipotent, his career in the fashion entertainment was so smooth, that I almost fell asleep reading it. The reason the MC and ML regarded as MAIN is because they unique or they stand out from rest of character. But the MC and ML besides... more>> being op and have no flavour to them. If they were put as side characters I wouldn't have even noticed them.

I want talk about the humor part in the book which is non-existent, Im not look for the whole book to have humorous sense, but at least the bare minimum of humor, however there was NONE. The true disappointment of the book starts from this. Nearly 30 chapters and no humor? Humor is often the most memorial of book for most people, having no humor makes the book very forgettable. It has hard decisions to rate this as it between 2 star to 2.9 stars, but I deicded a 2 is already a lot. <<less

This is my personal rating of this novel. I'm sure a lot of you will be shocked, once you notice some of the negative reviews. Don't worry I was as well. I was not aware that this novel received so many negative reviews until I visited its page and decided to write my own thoughts and review for this novel expecting that it's full of positive reviews.

I'll start with the few concerns that are mentioned by the other reviewers of this novel.

Now, don't get me wrong. When I read the... more>> novel, I indeed notice how the author wrote it informally. Yes, informally. The emoticon and some excessive exclamation points that are present in every chapter are indeed true. Which is to say, the above reviews are not entirely false.

But personally, upon realizing it. It didn't bother me. I don't know why actually. In my mind, I was thinking. Well, the author is doing it differently but I didn't mind. It didn't hinder me from reading the novel. I continued it and thus, I'm done reading it. I was so focused on the interactions of the CP, that for some reason, I didn't nitpick on the emoticons or excessive exclamation points that are present. I know that they shouldn't do this but it strangely clicks together. At least, that's what I thought.

Another thing, when it comes to reading translated novels whether it is Chinese, Korean, and Japanese novels, my expectation is not that high. I lowered it, to avoid disappointments. Remember we are not reading the exact output of the author so I do not want to make it hard for them, at least towards our dear translators. All I want is to enjoy the plot and in this case, the interactions of the CP. Yes, my conditions are not that high. Don't get me wrong I did read a lot of famous and formal works but I know the distinction of these novels. And I know when to start nitpicking and not.

Lastly, is the mention of the Huaxia. I know the author made this place so strong and undefeated. A hegemon that can compete on 'the most powerful country'. I really notice it but it's not like I'm not bothered. In my mind, as long as it will not go beyond my own little safe zone then, it's fine. It is indeed mentioned in a few chapters but I'm sure you can take it. Since the rest of the novel is more with the interaction and the growth of the CP.

Regarding the plot:

Spoiler

The relationship between the CP is smooth sailing. When I say, smooth sailing, I mean it literally. There are no ups and downs. No push and pull. Even the jealousy is not overbearing but still really sweet. The CP immediately realizes their partner is jealous but they confront it immediately and steamy scenes happen immediately. I can say, that the charm comes from the interaction of the CP. That is why so many readers continue to read it despite the negative reviews. Another is the rivalry, between the MC and ML, its not that strong but also, the ML didn't just give his title to his wife in a silver platter. The MC indeed works hard for it but for other readers may not see it since the MC already has his own techniques and style since he is already a renowned supermodel in his past life.

Next is, the face slapping, there are a few characters who schemed or just hate the MC for nothing, I tell you, the MC did a good job on face slapping them but also the ML will also grab a chance to help him.

[collapse]

All in all, this is all I will say. I still want to recommend it and see it for yourself. As for myself, since I deeply love the interaction of the CP, I still love the novel. I may not be the most reliable reviewer but I believe you can only see it for yourself. If you see the charm of the novel, then it's good. If not, it's okay. We all have our own cup of tea.

So, Good day to all! <<less

Story:

Ming Yu, a super model dies of illness and transmigrates into a body of a younger model in a slightly other earth setting. This boy su*cided cause of missguided love. Now this Ming Yu doesnt have the same love interest but he will make sure to fullfill the original body owners last wish to "never let them forgett his name". So Ming Yu starts his way up to be the top super model.

Review:

The first 80-100 Chapters were realy good. I would give 4 to 5 Stars. Unfortunatelly from there on... more>> its getting worse and worse. In the End I would give 1 Star so I evened it out on 3.

Ming Yu's way of dealing with his first adversary was nice... but soon you will find that the next and the next and the next will essentially be the whole same. There ist nothing new. It's like copy and paste.

At some point the "slice of life" aspect gets entierely lost. The story starts to almost only revolve about the fan and forum stories. The writer loses themself in all kinds of explanaitions why and how great Ming Yu is and how much his fans love. There were some key phrases, you knew you can safely skip the next half page without missing anything.

Especially strange was for me that at one point I started to wonder "what ist this brainwash mentality"?

Might be only my perception but it felt like evry 2-3 chapters there was an explanation how great Huxia is. How especially prosperus the economy is. How much the Huxia people help each other and support their people. Huxia fans fighting united against the evil westener press. Lots of times there were phrases like "the westeners cant understand" this, "westeners do not understand" that.. etc.

That especially made the last 150 chapters like pulling teeth.

I would recomend the first 80-100 chapters but then just stop the rest. It's OK but I would not recomend the whole piece and wouldnt read it again. <<less

While reading this novel I felt like maybe my attention span wasn't long enough at times...

At first the novel was good, but once MC and ML got together it was pretty much a given that everything was going to be smooth sailing so it was a bit of a struggle to complete this novel. There was a bunch of random anti-West/anti-American xenophobia in the middle and ML turned into a mafioso for a bit?? Every villain was as thin as a sheet of paper. There really wasn't much conflict in... more>> this novel.

I had to stop for a while because the plot got too ludicrous.

Additionally, MC and ML's relationship dynamic is uh... interesting? Not your traditional relationship, I suppose. I had great difficulty imagining ML to be anything other than a gangster. He's the world's #1 supermodel who never does supermodel things. ¯_ (ツ) _/¯ <<less

Imma spill all the tea now so listen up.

First, the bad things:

I saw people some time ago calling the protagonist OP, but the truly OP one here is the ML. Ming Yu (MC) already went through all the hardships of becoming a model in his past life, that is something we see in little depth but it's still there. So, for him to escalate sky-rocketting makes sense, since he's in already experienced and all. We do see him struggle with acting and cooking though, so even if his modeling is... more>> perfect there are other aspects of his life that are not, but he still tries his best to be better and eventually reachs his goals. He's empowered and strong, and overall a really good main character.

Now, the ML. I love Xi Ze, don't get me wrong, but it's plainly clear since the beginning that he's basically a god (they literally call him that, too) and no matter what efforts the MC puts into his career, he will ALWAYS be three steps behind him.

Spoiler

Ming Yu is not good at cooking? Xi Ze is magnificent at it. Ming Yu is not good at acting? Xi Ze has never tried it before, but somehow is awesome at it. Ming Yu's strongest point is his modelling? Xi Ze doesn't even need to model for an entire year and yet he's still the numer 1 of the entire world. Ming Yu's amazing for escalating into the Supermodel's list in only a few months? Well don't get too excited, because Xi Ze did it in way less time. The author even goes through the trouble of explaining that Xi Ze is wealthier than Ming Yu was even in his past life, where he was a top supermodel in the same category as him.

There's a limit of just how much you can justify by saying "Xi Ze was a top fashion designer, not just a model, and that's why things are like this", author.

[collapse]

It really gets tiring after a while, and in the end it makes the MC's achievements seem a little underwhelming, bc even if you were extremely excited and happy for him (I was), the author STILL loves to bring up that the ML will always be better than him.

On a side note, revenges against cannon fodders are W A Y too exaggerated. They wrong the MC even just a tiny little bit, and all hell breaks loose because the ML is so "protective" of his husband (they call him wife actually but I'm just gonna skip past that).

Spoiler

There was a guy who posted online something that slightly damaged the MC's reputation, and he ends up beaten up, cancelled by the entire world and blocked from the entertainment industry?? A girl who left the MC alone on the red carpet, and they take away her fake b**bs and her career??? And let's not even mention the ultimate cannon fodder: the dude that treated the original owner of Ming Yu's body badly. He ends up being r*ped in prison, man. That's awful, even if he was shitty and lame.

There are mentions of vendettas that involved gang raping too and I'm just, , why.

[collapse]

They try to give us an explanation for the exaggerated revenges (even the MC finds the ML to be coming out too strongly), but tbh it's still bad. Also the ML is constantly making someone spy on the MC to know what he's doing at all times and it's kinda creepy but it isn't a big deal really.

Anyway enough with the bad, let's get on to the good stuff. The relationship between the MC and the ML is BEAUTIFUL. They gravitate naturally towards each other, nothing feels forced at all, and you can just tell how much they love and cherish each other, even if both of them are the cold, calm and collected type of character. The s*xual tension between the two is on point until they finally kiss and it feels r I g h t, you know what I mean?

Besides, you don't really get bored before that happens. The romance builds up around the plot, and that's why it feels so natural, but the main thing in the story is, still, the plot and the path of Ming Yu towards the top of the supermodels' ranks starting from a third-rate magazine and escalating in huge leaps from there on. The arcs are all nice, but personally I think the best ones come when he starts acting. I legit cried with the plot of a movie he filmed, and I felt so proud of him too. I loved it.

Also can I say just how much I love that neither of them are possessive? They do get jealous, but they share a deep trust and know the other would never betray them. Besides, they're not petty at all. The ML never gets worked up over the MC choosing to rest rather than sleeping with him or whatever if he has a show, audition or shooting the next day. Neither of them gets mad when the other has to travel far away, even if they do miss each other. The MC is 100% confident in himself and his abilities, and the ML is, too.

Spoiler

AND when the ML decides that the MC is his muse and asks him to become his exclusive model, the MC rejects him for the sake of his own interests and the ML does n o t get angry or pushy about it. It's incredible.

[collapse]

Oh and the s*x scenes are awesome, well-timed and just enough. You don't get drowned in s*x, but you don't face a drought either.

It's a good read, really. Especially towards the end, and there's one extra that had me crying nonstop, the angst hit me from nowhere and the happy ending felt even better after that.

Overall, a good enough read to occupy time.

MC himself has a step by step process in his ascension to his goal and mostly realistic in it. As a character, he possesses the qualities of someone who's thoroughly mixed in the industry and remains driven to his goal throughout the story. ML himself is a pretty okay. He doesn't take liberties with MC and respects MC's wishes. That's always a plus when it comes to MLs. He also is very driven in his desire to obtain MC, but manages to keep... more>> a good boundary and when MC said no at him the first time, he actually went out of his way and went through the friend route. The two's chemistry before they got together was subtle but managed to be also palpable. When they did get together, they're very much a power couple and supports each other in their work and are not stingy in showing each other their affection. The story itself has a good premise and though there's not much action, the writing is still enough to draw you in.

So then, why didn't I rate it higher? Answer: the blatant xenophobia. It's one arc, their depiction of foreign media has left a bitter taste in my mouth. It's so... childish. I know that it's done so that there would be a contrast to show how great and wonderful our MC and his back-up is, but the way it was depicted was just barf. Especially the part where they were having an internet war? Good and clever citizens of the country vs. dumb and shallow people of the west is how it was depicted. Why even put so much comments in it and not just describe it? Just bad taste, really. <<less

Lots of lovey dovey once they get together. ?

The reactions of the fans and interaction of some of the models was hilarious.

The story does have some elements of revenge and hints of drama...

BUT THE FASHION AND DETAILS RELATED TO THE INDUSTRY IS F*ING OVERWHELMING AND WILL DRIVE YOU MAD IF YOU'RE NOT INTERESTED! ?

I loved this.

I religiously read this in every update. The story about a young boy who was used by a scum and later on died overdose with drugs. Second chance (to him or to MC?) was given and he lived with a new soul occupying his body. Now, the MC is already a professional model with amazing achievement (except he can't act, no. He can't, like, no.)

He took the boy to the right path and thrive to improve himself and along the way he met... more>> with the current male god model, ML who fall in love with him at first sight (Yes, I firmly believe that.)

He helped him in the shadows, a lot.

MC didn't exactly took revenge on the ones who wrong the previous body owners. Instead, the revenge took place by itself. When his OP-ness evolved in such a magnificent and majestic aura, everyone was suddenly obsessed with him and loving him to the point where his fans cried when they saw him walking on runway.

The insignificant, suddenly untalented protagonist was just a pebble on the side road.

Career, life, love and everything was a smooth ride for him. No tragedy or misfortune, or whatever.

Skipped a few chapters because the climax is anti-climatic. Whats the point when he easily achieved all that. Happy ending. The end. <<less

The MC is really lovable, and I'm not saying that because he's the MC. He's actually quite different from other BL leads, because he's not some vengeful face-slapper, nor is he a docile, dense character. He's quite the black-belly character himself, but he's also lowkey about it. As long as you don't intentionally mess with him, he won't mess with you. He does remember good deeds and helps out people who treat him fairly. And while he is OP when... more>> it comes to his profession, readers will soon realize that there's a reason for his OPness... Modeling is the only thing he's good at, haha. The gap moe is so cute!

I also like the ML, but he's somewhat the typical ML you see in BLs. Mysterious, black-belly, and totally awesome. As I'm reading more about him and his interactions with the MC, I find that I like him a lot as well. The bantering and teasing between the MC and ML is so hilarious that I've found myself grinning like an idiot in public. The romance between them is also the slow-burn type, which is my absolute favorite. No instant-love here, guys!

The research in this story is pretty good. We get a lot of details about how the modeling industry works (well, at least how it is in Huaxia) and how the MC moves his way up the modeling ladder. The descriptions about the fashion shows and clothing styles are fun to read about too.

The thing that probably sets this apart from other transmigration novels is that there isn't a lot of face-slapping so far, which is really relieving because face-slapping gets tiring after a while. Instead, this novel is more about the MC's path to become the top model, all while deftly handling those who try to get in his way.

The translation is also really good, and the translator even updates very frequently! I honestly look forward to reading this story all the time because of the smile it brings to my face. <<less
