Forcefully brought over from the modern world to an alternate world, Wang Chong felt detached and lived his life aimlessly.

However, when calamity struck and he saw his family and everything he cared for being torn apart, he felt regret.

Thus, he stood up and eventually became the Grand Marshal of the Central Plains, leading an army against those who sought to destroy all he cherished.

Yet, despite all his efforts, it was already too late to reverse destiny.

But before his death, a shooting star, the same one which brought him to this world, appeared before him, and he was given another chance to undo his regrets.

This series is awesome, I like the finer aspects of scheming coupled with a smart MC and the smooth transition from 1 arc to the next. I like that the MC has a good explanation for being more mature/wise and that the MC has to work against his past actions as the Scion of the Wang clan

The translator and editors are working insanely hard and are releasing chapters almost every day so I have something to look forward to after a hard day at uni.

As now, it's a bit slow but good. The history is advancing, we don't have an eternally frocen problem for 200 chapters.

Spoiler

He has been charged of violation, solved.

There was a plot against his father, stopped.

And without killing anyone nor doing very ridiculous things.

Now he is getting money, weapons and cultivating, but being the cultivation something secondary

[collapse]

There is a lot of plot armor with the time travel, and it can be the demise of this history, the MC has a lot of years to solve the fall of the empire... will the author do a good history or will be writting anecdotes till it becames stagnated, boring and repetitive?

The short term problems have already been solved, let's see how he handles the middle term ones. <<less

Good story. Would have been higher if there wasn't so much filler. It wasn't like this in the beginning, but the last 10 chapters have been full of filler. Something that should have taken at most 5 chapters have taken double the amount. Who knows when it will wrap up. I find myself scrolling because all the filler content in the chapter. It holds the novel back.

So I will give this a 3/5 for now. If the filler lessen as the story goes on, it will be a much better... more>> story. <<less

BEST STRATEGY WARFARE NOVEL!

I have been searching for high strategy warfare novel in 3 years, until I meet this novel.

Trust me, this novel will meet your like, this not reguler commonly novel with low quality arogant enemy,

Write common novel is hard enough, while strategy warfare whole new level difficult.

I don't know why other rate this novel low score, for me this the best.

ISSTH : Best Cultivation Novel

THIS : Best Strategy Warfare

The title is misleading, it should be The Great Feminist Chinese General. Aside from knowing what will happen in the future, his past 2 lifetimes didn't help him to be matured. Even a normal 15 years old are more crafty and logical than him. He always set goal and can basically complete it if he ever uses a tiny common sense.

Honestly, I really loved this novel. It was such a twist from the usual cultivation shit, where powerless MC insults some high ranked person and then his whole bloodline chase the MC and blah blah. However, in here, we see a protagonist who is often engaged in the political side of the world. Cultivation series normally have a realm of 'immortals' whilst there's also a mortal world which the MC tends to leave. I personally see it that the MC here stays within the mortal world, which is quite refreshing... more>> and foreign.

Overall, it was a great read. <<less

I think the novel has an interesting setting and the translator has done a really good job just that the fillers are unbearable to me. Aside from that, the MC seems to be breezing through the challenges in his life (as much as the author tries to make things 'difficult'). Many aspects in the novel are also inconsistent such as the Wang family and clan's finances. I also find the female characters in the novel unnecessarily annoying. The novel might not be enjoyable for me but I would recommend you... more>> to give it a try. <<less

There are some irritating things for starters how the MC is not into girls lol... like he eventually discovers it but its not a major thing its like a filler which ruined it for me. There are no harems which sucks but it is what it is.

Its a one man show to a certain extent some characters he grows up with that he said were future generals get completely forgotten or are just mentioned here and there. <<less

Very, very annoying manner of the author to make people smarter and kinder than they actually are, but since this is fantastic, I think it's not scary. It is interesting, of course, to observe all the vicissitudes of the main character, but the author made a saint out of him, almost. His enemies are killing his people right and left, and he, knowing who, where and how, just makes remarks and smiles... What are you happy about, idiot? I ask this question after every 10th chapter. It's not normal, is... more>> it? When his enemies defeat them, they kill his allies and important people. When an idiot wins, he kills the most insignificant subordinates of his enemies, and to their bosses he tells how smart he is, smiles and grins))) When this happens once, it's not scary, twice tolerant, but when your whole story consists of a series of the same events - it just infuriates. <<less

a great novel... face slapping low key and subtle not overly blatant and obnoxious like other novels of its kind. tolerable MC, over saturated with info dumps some good others skippable (in my opinion it won't affect my reading experience if I skip these).

i was gonna give it a four stars but because of the rants, wall of texts and other things I don't want to read and learn from the translators are annoying ASF and thus affected my rating on the novel (blame yourselves).

i already read a... more>> wall of text---don't add fillers and instead, leave it to the naruto/boruto kind instead. <<less

I enjoyed this novel it has its flaws in terms of plot holes dumb strategy decisions but overtime I lost my patience for a few things one the author drops like 90% of the uses of the stone of destiny and a lot of other things after around chapter 600 2 the MC has literally never used it well for a shop system thing for example he may have tens of thousands of points sitting around or there is him healing prince/future emperor and then not even checking if it... more>> can heal his master it’s infuriating without end how much it feels like it should have just been specific rewards 3 the enemies constantly feel dues ex machina be it the Skyquaking giants and behemoth army of the Arabs which would be fine if anyone else had anything even similar the novel mostly was low fantasy as in you could become strong but not enough to one man army and then qutyabah shows up and new realm gets introduced that can basically due just that sure it was obvious there would be more realms but the way it was introduced was very frustrating which can describe 90% of this novel there are countless other issues but the one that made me drop this novel was when it pulled the MC loses everything arc 1217 chapters in I hate this type of arc in any novel almost regardless of how well it’s done but how it’s done is a god tier ass pull of the Confucians being the villains all along I just can’t with this novel. Finally there is the title it seems misleading even as far as I am though apparently it’s not and he becomes emperor 2400 chapters in my issue with that is it basically goes against everything our character has been set up as loyal to the emperor heck he started developing relationship with future emperor and healed him and wants to help him achieve his full potential last we saw also our main character just isn’t a ruler he’s a general he can do some governing stuff but he’s a general I’m sure it’s possible that the author uses the next 1200 chapters to change that but I doubt it as for how long this story draws out arcs that’s like 2 arcs and even if it is done it’s probably written terribly <<less

I really enjoyed the military, strategy and war coupled with his knowledge.

However inbetween there'll be small political schemes or even so far 1-2 entire political scheme arcs with debates which was still bearable at first but later on it's just "oh here we go again they're going to bla bla for 3 chapters before they're done talking". Simply not my cup of tea, at least not in this amount.

Stuff turns more absurd later on (even more supernatural powercreep than it already is) resulting in: Drawing out fights, becoming repetitive and... more>> plain boring.

Definitely worth a read for the military, strategy, war and second chance genre (up to roughly chapter 1200) and then drop it once you don't enjoy the direction the story is going in. <<less

This starts as a dope-ass 5* "getting another chance" novel, with the MC taking full advantage of his cheat-like memories. But the longer you read the more you start to notice discrepancies.

The mental age: ... more>>
Spoiler

Why does the MC act like a 15 yo when his mental age is 20+40+X? He should act like his grandfather, like the great general and hope of humanity he is! Even worse, in the later arcs he acts like a complete hot-head, rushing head-first and ruining his every political advantage.

[collapse]

The MC is a hypocrite:
Spoiler

He often talks about "warriors honor" and goes damning his opponents for doing underhanded stuff, and then does the same exact thing in the next arc because he has to "win at all costs".

[collapse]

Schemes:
Spoiler

What happened to all the schemes and tactical understanding? Where does the sudden focus on cultivation and "if you are strong, schemes do not matter" mentality come from. What is the use of that chess competition then?

[collapse]

Aspirations:
Spoiler

If I am the chosen one, tasked with saving the world, and aware of all the mistakes the emperor will make, then I sure as heck am not comfortable staying a general in my next life.

[collapse]

Family:
Spoiler

Where did his family go? He has a father and brothers (who are kind of a big deal) and they never appear. Why go around begging for forgiveness in the beginning if they are unimportant?

[collapse]

Girls/Women:
Spoiler

The girls are all valiant, strong, can cultivate (the same as men), can join the army (the same as men), but can't enter politics? Author, if you are breaking your historical setting, break it completely...

[collapse]

Faction:
Spoiler

Every arc introduces a new random minor character that has neither skill nor power and will disappear until called once more hundreds of chapters later, for a big "call all names" and pile on my enemies. Furthermore the MC plays in the "Champions Leage" with the emperor, King Song, his grandfather,... but then wastes time on minor matters and minor characters.

[collapse]

Wealth:
Spoiler

If I am saving every coin I can get to prevent the population from starving, I definitely won't go around gifting some random C-rank noble girl millions of Gold-Taels. The MC does.

[collapse]

I really want to like this novel, but it is too much of a mess. The MC is s*upid and hot-headed, even though he appears like a smart schemer in the beginning. I definitely did not expect that, nor did I want or need it to happen. Furthermore every arc introduces some new character for his faction, but they then all disappear and play no role anymore.

Really disappointing 2* - the fact that the novel does have glorious moments hurts all the more. <<less

This novel is recommended and everything, it is a very good novel, the first hundreds of chapters the MC acts as a late as*hole when he interacts with people like laughing at the end of a phrase or commenting on it, or when women appear, the author has something against the women, because they are all crazy and are always strong and unreasonable, there are some sworn enemies that appear that can be killed easily but never does and it rages. Another thing, this I always thought was a somewhat... more>> "normal" novel in the sense that it has no fantasy, but the enemy countries appear with things that defy logic...
(not to give spoilers) I just finished reading chapter 963 and "country X" has things that are totally absurd, and it is very exaggerated as an enemy, with those "weapons" that they have they could dominate the entire world, I don't understand the Because the author does something so exaggerated about his enemies, they are too exaggerated because they don't fit the story of the novel. <<less

First of all, when writing a comment about a novel, please bear in mind that what you write is a self review of the novel. If you mean to critique, please learn the “how to” first.

With thus, please don’t regard your taste as the general taste. You can express your opinion but not hinder other people from uncovering their own opinion. Also, if you can’t even write a proper review, how much more a book? So please, avoid “directing”. Let me repeat, you can express things you would like to... more>> add but if you want to change a major flow of the content, that is plain disrespectful and too much entitled feeling. Know that you could always look for a different book to your liking or better yet, write your own book.
To be fair, I am writing this comment because of my disgust and guilt for being gullible to the comments I’ve read for this novel. I think I owe the writer and those diligent translators et. Al the courtesy of making this comment and review. I read a bit of this novel in the past and chose to stop because I was put off due to the spoilers and self-patronising comments I have read. Only now when I have caught up to all my followed novels did I remember this novel. It’s a good thing learned my lesson with Talisman Emperor and realise how bias these comments usually are, that I decided to read this novel again. Lo and behold, no regrets at all. I don’t know how fast other people read their novels but I am now in chapter 1630 after 5 days of reading with an average of 6 hours reading time spent on a daily basis. This pace is not only because I read fast but because I got hooked on to the flow of the story. I got hooked with the vividness of description, the intellect in the scenarios and the captivating revelations.

So, if you are after a nice story to read where details are with emphasis, please give this book a read and you won’t regret. On the other hand, if you are after a fast read and plot alone, the other novel I pointed out earlier would be a good choice, too. <<less

The story is amazing, eventhought the female characters are weak, but they're not the point of the novel. Not much of the romance. You see the strugling and slowly you'll get suck into the story of you like intrigue and grounded strategy. He's really following the art of war filosophy here, the desicions are smart with informations he's got from past life.

The character building in novel is a strong point, you feel like you know that person and I like how the person use the informations from his past life.

I... more>> can understand some people that will get confuse but I like how it's grounded a little bit.

The story is not for people that like side characters or want something meaningfull from them because the sides-characters here are really side characters.
It's more for people that like interesting, intrigue story with all-knowing, "weak" with less authority than he should have MC.

He works well with information he has and of course there is some strong "destiny" he can't overcome at the moment.

The name of novel maybe confusing for some people but It doesn't mean "The records of Tang emperor" but human emperor.
If you read it to later chapters you'll slowly see why Human Emperor, most "people" in the novel respect him, even some enemies fear him.

Spoiler

There may be some otherwordly enemies later, and he'll unite most human nations, and eventhough he doesnt have the title "Emperor" most people see him as a supreme leader.

[collapse]

That's why I don't understand people that are b*tching in reviews about the title.

Personally I like the story and I think if you like strategy, long world building titles you should try it.
and yeah I skipped some of the world building/exposition stuff and just read the result of it.

Side note: the racism thing, of course you would be bias againts some "Hu" when they destroyed and pillage his nation. <<less

MC is a TRUE BLOODED PATRIOT.

idk - yet - why the title is about an emperor when the MC doesn't want to be one.... But maybe in the next chapters he might really become the emperor??

I actually really like the fact that Wang Chong (MC) ain't the strongest person and you'll actually see how he becomes stronger each time. It's not just a "one chapter one level up" it took a VERY long ride for him to be able to become this strong.

I also like the fact that although he... more>> had reincarnated, he still has so many "why?" "How?" "What?" questions and the events kept on changing and how MC (SOMETIMES) gets caught off guard by the change of events.

If the readers love politics then you'll love the first 100-200 chapters. It's all about courts and ministers.

One thing I don't like though is how the MC turns into a buffoon when he interacts with women.

Then there's the fact that the story is only mandated with one POV (mostly) and that's through the MC or people from Great Tang.... it'll give you the feeling/idea of "oppose Great Tang/MC=enemy/bad/needs to be killed".

But I will still surely read this all the way to its end! <<less

This is one of my favorite novels. I've never seen a CN web novel that strikes such a balance between so many different elements. That's the main reason I've given this a 5 out of 5.

No novel has better mixed together so many different elements without unbalancing the entire thing. Strategy, World Building, History, Warfare, Strategy, Cultivation, City Building, Fantasy, Crafting, Epic Fight Scenes, Unique Cultivation, Supporting Cast, Political Intrigue, the list goes on and on. This is one of the few novels where the tags actually make a ton... more>> of sense, and if you stick with the reading you'll end up with a well balanced story that has something for everyone.

Too many web novels and light novels become too unbalanced; either they start talking about cultivation too much, it's nothing but fighting, too much time is spent talking about the hero's previous accomplishments, or arcs just get drug out too long.

Admittedly, some of the arcs that the author writes are just a tad too long, but that's such a minor complaint considering how well the author's managed to bring together so many different types of story telling. Considering the fact that this is a web novel, and taking in the daily chapter format and inability to do sweeping story edits, this is f*cking masterful.

I'll be sticking with this until the end, thank you so much to hypersheep for picking this up and setting a 2 chapter/day pace. Appreciate it so much! Keep up the fantastic translation. <<less

Pretty good story, except the only bad thing in my opinion is the overpowered empowerment of female characters. Almost all the female characters are annoying, overpowered thugs.

People complaining about the author merging some other stories should read more chapters. The story has some unique stuff compared to the bland reincarnation stories we get.

I rate it a 3/5.
