After finishing the first half (Chihiro's PoV), I was prepared for a tearful ending.

In the second half (Touka's PoV), the author provided a different perspective on Touka that changed my feelings about her and the story.

The very last page made me smile, that's why I re-read it many, many times. It's a very beautiful story.

It's a beautiful story.

It was raining day

There was a boy who finished doing something that gave him such a headache

To release his fatigue, he lay down on the bed, stretched out and covered his eyes to go to sleep

... more>> But seeing a nice day to do his favorite thing

The boy got up from his sleep, took his smartphone, turned it on, opened google and looked for a book on his beloved website

After a while he saw a book that had a fairly high rating, the cover is less than charming, it's like the shoujo genre that he doesn't like, but after seeing the synopsis he finds it quite interesting

So he looked at the reviews, and he definitely stated to himself

"This is what I want"

With the click of that button and while listening to a soundtrack he had prepared, he read it...

With a soundtrack to accompany the song and every bit of the word as lyrics, he creates the perfect contrast between music and a book...

Haha is that hard to understand?

It's just reading while listening to music.

This is the thing he finds far away...

That's how he felt it...

It's so warm, so comfortable, so cheerful, so disappointed and so sad

But all of it was perfect

This book teaches perfection to love someone

.

Alright, maybe it's too late and weird, the book is called

This was one of the best webnovels I have ever read. The tone and style of writing really allows you to understand and empathize with the characters' motivations. I was intrigued by the construct of memory technology and how it might affect the modern world. Definitely a must-read if you're looking for something emotionally deeper than the average webnovel.

The only complaint I have is that the author left a plothole. Who was it that put the note in Chihiro's middle-school jacket (see Ch. 3) ? I doubt Touka somehow broke into the house and slipped it in. Judging from Chihiro's past, there wasn't anyone who would have written "I was happy to have met you" to him... unless it really was a prank as he'd guessed?

It looks promising. It's the kind of mystery and romance where you keep wondering, what's the truth? Who is telling the truth? With the faint whisper of a hope that the maybe just maybe... instead of a scam, the childhood friend might be real.

Stunning book by Sugaru Miaki. It has the mysterical vibe and the dialogues explored the psychological depth, showing where the characters resemble and diverge due to different experiences. His slightest touch of dramatization makes the text playful in words and stirring in descriptions.

It is a typical heartwarming story packed with innovative settings, in which he enrichs the text providing depths in both viewpoints. The settings are not fully explained in many cases but I enjoy thinking back and forth to grasp the true meaning among the letters, because the words we use are much more clever than we are.

As someone who makes up their own stories/fantasies, this story hits very close to home. Reminding you that reality can be harsh and cold for some people, where drowning in our own or other fantasies is the only way to help create a lie that's capable of keeping you happy. Even if it means that you know it's a lie. Sugaru Miaka writes this story with a certain lesson in mind which draws your attention till the very end no matter how harsh or cruel the story may seem. Wow. Wow wow wow. Just finished this novel and my tip is keep a box of tissues handy.

I find that when I'm reading novels, what I'm looking for is emotion. I enjoy comedies to make me laugh, romances to make me go awww, and tragedies to make me bawl. Most of the time the strongest emotions require investment, and to be invested in a novel requires time. You're not going to care of a character dies chapter 1, but you'll definitely feel something if he does chapter 200 leaving all... more>> his friends and family that you now know of behind.

This novel stands out because it makes you feel so much with only an hour or two of words. The emotions are raw and unforgiving. This is the kind of novel that you will remember. <<less

I wanted to be fooled by her lies, if I could. I wanted to soak in the gentle story told by her and the Mimories. Whether a dream or a Mimory or an illusion, I wanted to love her blindly, and her blindly love me.

I am not a fan of tragic stories. But they always leave the most long lasting impression in my mind.

This story does exactly that. It lingers and lingers in your mind and heart, it makes you want to burst and share your thoughts with people... more>> who wouldn't even understand what you're talking about but you still speak because you need to sort out the multitude of feelings this story makes you feel.

I have no words that would suffice, no expressions that could express the beauty of this story.

All that I can say is this, that the author of this story has made me feel more emotionally than I have ever felt in life. That's the power in his/her writing. <<less

It’s an amazing story, but that ::heartwarming:: tag reaaaaaally misled me. It was definitely satisfying in the way all tragic Japanese stories tend to be, but I started reading it because I wanted to see someone get a happy ending for once... and that just wasn’t what I got.

Sometimes you read novels that sticks with you throughout your life. Time passes by but these stories just stay at the back of your mind and you think sometimes, I am glad I read it. It's that kind of story.

These kind of novel reminds me why I started to read novels in the first place. There's no music, nor any visuals but these monochrome words are more vibrant, more colorful than any visuals can ever be. The characters grow on you, after reading it, you feel like you have known... more>> them for life. You live their life through those pages. Sometimes you realize that they are not real but that doesn't help.

It's that kind of story. You get sad when they are sad and you get happy when you are happy. The authors wordplay plays with your heart. The author controls your emotion by their pen. And after you read it, you think, I am glad I read it. Perhaps this isn't a good review but honestly, I don't know how else to describe it. I can just say you should read it. <<less

This story made me say, "I hate you, but I love you, but I hate you".

I love it because just how good this novel was and how skilled the writer was in bringing out these feelings in me. How the story touched the deepest parts of my soul.

I hate it because it made me love it so much.
Spoiler

Because it gave me so much, just to take it away and me cry like a baby.

Nevertheless, this novel is surely one of best novels I have ever read.

Please check out this author's another novel " Three days of happiness". That one is a masterpiece as well. The author really can write.

This is literally one of the best written short stories so far.

I rarely like romance genre because most of them seem forced and a very few of them are quite bearable but this one left me wishing for more.

Interesting characters and a HIGHLY RECOMMENDED novel

Probably my favorite story out of the author's work so far. Interesting world building and a genuinely intriguing mystery that made me second guess myself on how exactly the story will unfold. I really enjoy having the viewpoint from both MCs told in first person. And interesting to watch the parallel being drawn from both of their circumstances. As with all Sugaru Miaki's work its ultimately optimistically bitter. Highly recommended.

This story had a lot of thought and care put into it, and it wasn't wasted.

Why are you reading the reviews? Isn't the 4.9 Star rating enough?

Read it now. Don't worry, I'll cry with you.

This novel is great, it has an unusual concept that is really interesting, although the world building could be better.

Reality is harsh and cold, unlike the beautiful lie that we wanted to hear and wished to be true.

This is one of the first works of Miaki Sugaru I've read.

You'd never know who this author is, you could've skipped this book, and all subsequent books of Miaki, but the fact that you do manage to find this book is almost as magical as being the main character, there's something so awe inspiring about finding that one special author in a sea of amateur self fantasy fulfilling books.

This is the 1 in a million book that you would never forget. Reading it makes you feel like the main character... more>> from your name, its literature, it gives you a piece of you, and in return you give this book a piece of your soul.

This review may or may not influence anyones decision on reading this book, but those who do will feel the creative magic of Miaki Sugaru, as many other readers have read before.

In the end I think this book encapsulates human life most well, we all live and learn the same, even if some steer far away from those ideas. <<less
