Well... so far so good UNTIL 336 where the sh*t hit the fan and we enter in an impossible long search that spands years and years with will likely end MC snapping and doing a slaughter fest of findscelestials (immortal demons)... Then the bad guys realize... we f*cked up badly when they see that MC is killin them one after the other and they cant do sh*t to stop him.

This again is my thoughts but I will likely drop this for a while until MC finds what he is looking... more>> for.... but I dare to say that 7/10 readers will rage quit depending on how what happens in 336 and how MC resolves it.

This is like Mario universe but with a extremely more evil bowser <<less

The novel is well written, there is no repetition of excessive stories, even though MC faces a problem but the struggle is still running smoothly, the beginning of the story is boring but from chapter 25 it has started to be exciting..

indeed there are some similarities with the novels that were written before... obviously this novel is not suitable for those of you who expect a story that develops more complicated with many components for the better... because this novel has a light story, and the author does not bring... more>> MC to a higher level of adventure...

honestly who gave 1 star, you are really weird... even you are not a writer but your own criticism is rubbish, this is aimed at those of you who insult the author... if you demonize the author, then how good is your work? if you don't want to learn to respect, how do you call yourself human?

Before anything else, I'd like to point out that this novel has a rushed ending. The author initially had thoughts about writing more realms and building a bigger universe. He even gave clues about these things but towards the end decided not to extend this novel and end it in a rush.

The writing is good, but I didn't get the feeling of reading an IET novel, it was quite bland. It felt like IET wasn't bothered about writing a good novel, he was writing it just for the sake of... more>> writing something.

In the initial chapters, I didn't even have feelings for the MC because he felt too distant. Gradually we learn more about the MC and then it feels ok, but this takes about 100 chapters or so.

It's a fine read if you don't have anything else to read at the moment. Finally, I would suggest not to consider this an IET novel, that might make you feel a bit satisfied (at least it did for me).

Now, let's dive a bit deeper into the story,

Spoiler

The universe has multiple planets, which can be divided into small worlds and great worlds. MC is from a small world, as his cultivation grew, he learned about the great worlds and eventually about existences stronger than that.

Just like other IET novels, people can be immortal as soon as they reach a particular realm, like in coiling dragon, reaching the demigod realm makes you immortal, similarly here it's the sky realm.

But the catch is that due to some reasons, even after the MC crossed that realm he is not immortal. To be clear, his wife, kids, grandkids, and everyone else in the entire universe, as soon as they cross the Sky realm become immortal but due to some weird reasons the MC even after crossing this realm isn't and almost till the end of the novel, he was trying to achieve immortality.

Talking about villains, it's not the typical rich guy trope. There are multiple cultivation systems, one of them is the fiendish cultivation system wherein they rely on killing/eating other humans to increase their cultivation system. Anyone following the fiendish system is a villain for the MC, and the MC is trying to kill them. I personally feel this reason to be worse than the typical trope.

In a nutshell, in the initial chapters, the goal of the MC is revenge for his sister (who's already dead before the novel starts) against a fiend, after that fiend is dead, his goal is to kill as many fiends as possible, finally, in the later chapters, his goal is to gain immortality while killing as many fiends as possible.

I wouldn't say that this novel is the worst, but it still is pretty bad. The reason I say this is because this novel's MC isn't the brightest.

Spoiler

The MC got his hands on a bottle that he clearly knows that is filled with grief and hatred, but somehow he can't relate it to anything that has to do with DEMONS. Millions of children are sent to be killed by a demon, including the MC's own younger sister. But once he got his hands onto the bottle after killing said demon, he turns dumb and doesn't even recognized that the THING in his hands is the blood of millions of children who've died an unjust death. This is something as simple as connecting the dots, but the MC SOMEHOW can't recognize it. He even has the experience of going on a journey for 6 years and spending 3 years battling at least 200 and more demons but still doesn't recognize the bottle. And there's also some powerful demon who wants this MYSTERIOUS bottle, you can guess the rest.

[collapse]

All in all, I'm disappointed as the novel was fairly good so far, until The PLOT happened. But with this PLOT, I'm probably not going to continue since there's probably more of this PLOT later on.

But, if you can ignore these dumb cliche plot, you should give it a try I guess. <<less

It is a good xuanhuan novel. It does not do anything spectacular but the upside is that it doesn't have the regular ret*rded cliche so many Chinese novels have.

This is the story of a man who had started training in sword arts for sake of getting revenge on demons and fiend cultivators. Eventually, he accomplished his goals and secured his family's safety as he reached the peak of the mortal cultivators.

However, in this story, nobody has ever become a true immortal with the dao of the sword through their own... more>> strength before. The novel narrates the protagonist's struggles as he forges a path for himself to create a new cultivation system. There are setbacks along the way, sad moments too, wars against the fiends, but there are moments filled with joy as well.

It was a satisfying read with a good ending too. With that said, while some people may argue that this story is not special enough to deserve 5 stars, I will give it 5. In a flood of xianxia tr*sh and harem garbage (most typical example: WDQK), finding a decent novel like this one is like finding a diamond in the rough. <<less

The best of IET's work in my opinion. All the rest have very unsatisfactory endings, where it kind of just pitters out. This leaves you wanting more. Of course, it's still IET, so if that's not your thing, you won't like this.

Nice plot but not so outstanding. Here is the most philanthropic MC out of all other MCs in IET's novels and his journey to power as he maintains his values through every tribulation. His merit is literally awarded by the will of the world he resides in which an actual part of the world building and not deus ex machina.

If I were to describe this novel in one word, then I would use the word "Bland" to do it. There is nothing special or interesting about it.

It has an abrupt start and a mechanical storyline. It is a below average novel written by an above average author. Maybe he was drunk while writing it?

Amazing novel. People seem to think it's too 'Social Justice Warriory' where demons are always sinful while the humans are always the good guys. But that's because they didn't read it properly... it's killing intelligent life that makes the individual evil not the fact that one is born a demon. There is a clear distinction between fiend and demon. The reason demons are more highly to be fiends is because they are raised in a environment where the strong survives, where killing is a way of life.

Why people try to review novels they don't read, when you review a book is because you read the damn thing from beginning to end, some guys read 10-20 chapters and infer all the things that gonna happen in all the others 1000 ones.

After my little rant, this is one of the best IET novels the world is extremely believable, the society is functional and have hierarchy that don't allow mass mu*derer without a great cost to do it.

Demons on contrary what of somepeople says, aren't inherently evil and human... more>> aren't in their natural food cycle, the novel has 2 types of supernatural creature, demons and fiends, demons are beings who developt sentience and aren't human or dragon, they can cultivate without the need to eat humans and become skydemons, Fiends are demons who pratices evil cultivation they eat human flesh and choose to be evil so the heavenly dao on human planets give good karma to persons who kills fiends, and on fiends planets the situation are inverted.

Qin Yun is a realy likeable MC he have a persoanality not a incarnation of the dao like Ji Ning in desolate era, he is a good guy not a psicopath who just care about people who are linked to him, his cultivation is very interesting he uses flying swords and because the sword path aparently was incapable of create immortals he had to creat his own path.

The plot is moved by mini arches that turns the reading very tasty, things happen very fast but the pace never feel rushed. We have a very memorable cast of support characters to IET standards of course, I am in the 434 chapters and a bunch of characters who appears on the oppening chapters.

The novel is very good experience and a good turn around to IET if you like adventures and intelligent uses of limited powers, a very likeable cast, a concise cultivation path that is understandable, that novel is f0r you. <<less

This novel isn't bad but it isn't great either. Its a decent read if you have time and looking to read something. The story itself isn't bad but I think it's the style of writing that I'm not really into. It doesn't s engage me as much as some of the other novels had. It's more of you reading what happening and what's going in the MC life. I like novel where when I'm reading I feel like I also part of the story and immerse myself in that world.... more>> When I'm reading this it just feel like reading someone else life that has nothing to do with me. There's a couple of time skip ranging from 1 year to 7 years so far. It happen a couple of time already. I don't mind time skip but if it happens often it pulls you out of the story. Again I would like to state that this might be a personal preference on what writing style you like so some might like it a lot more. I'll give this novel a 3.5 rating but since I can't I'll give it a 4. <<less

Guys who likes novels where the MC does not have any goal except rescuing his wife constantly will like this novel. The story started very well but it just became a novel where MC keeps rescuing his wife who is a loser at the start but because of plot armor and a s*upid author became a immortal by not doing anything. The author has made cliche novel where the MC cultivates only for his wife not for immortality. It is frustrating to read. MC has sacrifice his treasures for his... more>> useless wife again and again. Well basically the MC has to give and give and does not get anything in return. What a good novel. So anyone who likes this frustrating mess should definitely read this novel. Thought it would improve later on but it stays the same just rescuing his wife again and again. No real story plot in the novel just random things happening according to thr author's wishes <<less

just bad that's all, too much to say in words in only a few chapters... more>>
Spoiler

what I hate the most is his courtesan friend and him helping her, so the MC is ok with selling yourself for money and fame, doesn't matter if its his friend, even if it was my sister If I would really wanna help, I will punch her and drag her out before too late is too late, so idk how tf he calls that help, this self righteous piece of shit, and idk why but author feels the need to mention this person every chapter and MC defending her and her being a courtesan, like chill I understand already, you are pro s*avery, GOT IT, no need to flex it this much.

[collapse]

I don't care I'm dropping it, the s*upidity just annoys me to the extreme, the romance is overrated in the reviews, is just as bad if not worse than in his previous novels, the best is still probably in his first novels CD and ST, DE is still ok, AE is bad, SS is even worse, like egh, especially that brother of the FL and all of that drama, it feels like the author actually gets worse with every new novel instead of actually improving, like other than DE, none of his other novels even come close to CD and ST, the MC simply not righteous at all, nor is he good, he feels like a very big hypocrite that lacks awareness about anything especially about himself and his actions <<less

This is the kind of novel which you can read without any gripes when you don't have any better options.

If I have one major dissatisfaction about this novel, then like many IET novels the main role of female lead is to increase the burden on MC.

why does most novels of IET have the female lead being trapped or kidnapped only for the MC to struggle for many volumes in order to save her.

My review got deleted wtf. Now I have to write from what I remember because there is only one accurate review here by args. Equal.5 but it doesn't go into detail. Unfortunately neither can I now but I can confirm that it has a lot of fillers and redundant information, clearly going for the word count for that damn quantity sponsored writting.

I expected better from IET, the author that introduced most of us to xianxia and other CN novels. Apparently after Stellar Transformation and the everyone's most favourite Coiling Dragon,... more>> he lost his mojo.

Swallowed Star and Seeking The Flying Sword Path are his worst novels, DE, TNC and LXY being his average. <<less

Oof, I don't get why there's so much hate for a novel that's ligitimatly good. We've all read IETs novels. we all know how the first few hunded chapters are going to go. Slow, that's how!

Spoiler

in regards to the people who didn't like the beginning: as usual, IET likes to take his sweet time setting up the world and it's characters. The future love interest is introduced as well as the MC's back story, side characters and motivations for why he does what he does. Alot of the beginning is unfortunately boring though, especially if you expect action causing alot of readers to be turned away from the rest of the novel. Get past the consort Ark of the novel and it will immediately start to pick up.

The main characters motivations are rather well done in this novel; the MC's sister was eaten by a fiend when he was at a young age creating the desire to get revenge and protect his family. Theres also really solid romance and family Dynamics compared to alot of other IET novels... So far.

[collapse]

the first few chapters are slow for sure but once it picks up it really picks up. I highly recommend giving it a try. The world building is solid, the MC's motivations are clear and there is a distinct lack of plot garbage. The MC is also not an arrogant as*hole and the enemies have ligitimate reasons for being the MC's enemy. <<less

If this was a short novel and ended on chapter 54 it would have been pretty decent but everything after that is absolutely pointless, mindlessly convoluted and downright boring, I couldn't last 30 chapters before dropping.

The MC is unappealing, it was okaysh when he had a motivation to push him forward but his lifelong goal was completed at the end on the first book and while some hooks have been laid for the plot to go on (the childhood friend-little sister route for example) the novel stalls them and instead... more>> go on to introduce a new enemy that is so poorly written it's appalling.

The conflict last the whole second book and I have to say that it's waaaay too long.

The guy is supposed to be somebody who has seen the world and infiltrated the government for a long time, he should be quick witted and smart or, at least not dumb. So.. First thing he does as the governor is to make enemy of a cultivator of unknown backing (the MC) for some cultivation resource, risking his cover and lifelong work without investigating or trying to swindle the resource one way or another;
since the MC doesn't suspect him and he has a lot of authority in the province while also being a more powerful cultivator (at least he sould believe he is) it shouldn't be that hard right?

The way he tries to obtain the resource is instead really convoluted and confusing, since he doesn't know who is behind the MC and his purpose is just to rob him while the MC is unsuspecting, there are tons of ways to get the item instead of surrounding his manor, capturing his family and slandering him, what's the freaking point?

Great minds accomplish the most complex things in the easiest way, this whole plot was so incredibly complicated I won't believe anybody that says it wasn't done for the sole purpose of increasing the chapter count.

So, this is a novel where you can't connect to the MC because he is quite boring, the most interesting character (lil sis courtesan) is forgotten after chapter 20, the FL is so plain it hurts and the plot is almost nonexistent;
nothing I would recommend reading. <<less

I got into the world of Chinese fantasy thanks to IET's novel. Coiling Dragon was my first, and this author had a special place in my heart. This makes my disappointment at Seeking the Flying Sword Path all the more bitter.

You see, it's not the first time IET uses a background of traditionnal Chinese mythology as a background for a story. It creates a bit of a déja-vu feeling if you have already read his great novel Desolate Era, a novel whose protagonist is also a sword cultivator (although they... more>> are both fine characters with distinct motivations and personalities). The problem that quite a lot of the plot shows obvious similarities to the first great arc of the previous story, while being just good, which makes the reading a bit diificult for one who has experienced the excellence of Desolate Era. Moreover, the novel never leaves its mythological roots to go into a "freer" fantastic background like in the latter parts of its forebearer. Add to this a cast that is a bit alof for the most part, a cultivation system that, while being good, does not reach the diversity and details of the previous book and, the worst point, a cadence of repetition and filler that becomes at some points so annoying that it takes down the pleasure of reading some of the greatest moments of the story, and you'll get an above average to good novel, but a far cry from the usual level of the author's production.

The translation is, in this case, the best redeeming feature of this book. CK Talon does an amazing job, with high quality in both translation itself and editing. No mistake I can remember in grammar, vocabulary or typos, a true masterwork and a clear improvment from his debut with True Martial World.

In short, Seeking the Flying Sword Path is a good novel, but it does not reach the level of greatness of IET's books in general and the excellence of Desolate Era in particular, and is in fact the weakest story of the author. If you really want to read all of IET's, read this novel before you do Desolate Era. Otherwise, it's a work you can pass. My final mark is a 6 out of 10, maybe 7 if you have not read Ji Ning's adventure yet.

Thanks to IET for this novel and CK Talon for translating it. Now, I'll move on to Lord Xue Ying. <<less
