During the school trip Touka and his classmates are summoned to another world by Goddess Vysis.
According to the goddess who summoned them, summoning so many heroes with high ranks such as S-ranks and A-ranks is very unusual. The growth rate of E-Rank heroes is lower when compared to growth rate of A-Ranked and S-Ranked heroes
However, Touka was the only person with the lowest rank ―― he was an E-rank hero.
His status is overwhelmingly low in comparison to his classmates. Moreover, Touka’s peculiar skill is supposed to be an absolute failure 【Abnormal State Skill】and therefore he was abandoned and thrown away into disposal ruins…
Thus the former mob-character and abandoned hero, will absolutely become the strongest as he advances and strike back.

- Reasonable Character Growth - Characters don't just suddenly/arbitrarily become s*upid powerful (outside of the initial OP power boost that is rather standard with isekais). Even the MC who is overpowered shows reasonable growth over time and has decent restrictions to keep him in check.
- Character Development - While it is slow at times, overall the characters show good character development. And realistically, slow character development isn't necessarily a bad thing. After all it doesn't make a whole lot of sense for the FMC to fall madly in love with the MC within two chapters of meeting them (or worse, within a paragraph as some stories are). This isn't to say that it can't be frustrating at times, but overall I find this to be a breath of fresh air and an overall more enjoyable read at this point as it has allowed for things to not feel so forced; though I'm sure if someone started reading this back in 2017 when it launched then a reader might have found themselves pulling their hair out waiting for the MC and FMC to admit their feelings to each other.
- Character Personalities - There's a breadth of these here so if there's a personality-type that you don't like, chances are you will see it. But with that said, it also means that you're likely to see personalities that you do like. Also the MC is a pragmatic realist who's out for revenge, which very much plays into how he acts, as opposed to the more standard idealist who goes to unreasonable lengths to not kill those who are actively trying to kill them. Though if you want a story where people fight, MC beats those trying to active kill them, and then everyone holds hands as if the enemy wasn't just trying to chop the MC's head off... then this isn't for you.
Cons:- Japanese Paragraph Syntax - While there's no issue with how the sentences themselves are written, it isn't uncommon for what should be a single paragraph to instead be multiple lines. For example:
Spoiler
[collapse]
Note that each of these three sentences (pulled straight from c269) are written as their own line in the story (in addition to another three lines that I didn't want to type out since you can't C&P from the LN). The sentences themselves are well translated, but all six sentences should be slightly rewritten and combined into a single paragraph. For those that are expecting a more standard English style of writing, they will potentially find this type of formatting to be somewhat jarring and detract from the story itself (as other reviews indeed comment on this).
Pro/Con/Neutral:Even in the absence of Seras, she continued to take firm action. Our flanks were somewhat pushed back. However, the central flank is somewhat holding its ground.
- Amount of Characters - A whole class got teleported to the other world. While they don't name every single character (and some of the ones that they do name aren't mentioned but a handful of times), there's still nine people from the class that are regularly talked about, split into four groups plus the MC, with a few others from the class somewhat regularly mentioned as well (so like 13-14 names of classmates alone). Throw in all of the various people on the Goddess's side, the MC's side, and miscellaneous other stuff, and you're talking about probably 30+ different characters. Luckily most of them are slowly introduced/removed over time, so the hardest part is keeping the initial classmates straight, but in all it's a lot of characters. Makes for good world building and what not, but can be overwhelming for some readers.
- Death - Yes, people die. LOTS of people die. While there are some people who have the "I don't want/refuse to kill" attitude, in general be prepared for people to die. I find this to be far better than all the stories where the MC unreasonably refuses to kill and it magically works out, but I'm sure others would view such a thing as a con.
Overall I've found Failure Frame to be a very well written betrayal/revenge sort of story. It's also a good break from the standard OP MC (the character's skill itself is blatantly OP, but the character himself is comparatively weak and with restrictions on his skill, and thus he has to use his brain to use his skill instead of just mongo'ing his way through things. Though in the right situations he is able to go full mongo as well). If you're looking for a well written story that doesn't shy away from blood/death and don't mind the paragraph syntax, the slower speed of events, and number of characters, then I would highly recommend giving this a read.
