“Miss, since you came back, every three days there will be someone who start a rumor to slander you……”

“Some say you are ugly and really ill and will not live till eighteen…….”

“Some say your personality is vulgar, even rural women are not as wild…..”

“There are also people who mentioned the theft of that year. They told it like it has a nose and eyes, like they personally have witnessed Miss steal the glowing pearl……”

A time traveler, she became the ancient version of Cinderella. Not only did her younger sister steal her fiancé, she is also sent to ChongXi by her father for other people…..

What a joke! It has always been her that slaughters people, when is it their turn to be arrogant?!

Beat her? Alright! A needle and you will no longer be able to lift your right hand!

Curse her? Deal! A kick and you’ll fall into the lake as food for carp!

Assassination? Good! Making it so you won’t be able to see tomorrow’s sun!

What? Want her to marry that Demon Wang whose eight wives died on the wedding night? No problem! She is the Demoness of the white and black world. She’d like to see who between the two of them is more evil, who is more vicious.

Only after marrying into WangFu did she find out this Demon Wang is different from the rumors. Not only are there different kinds of poisons in his body, he needs medication every day, and every night when it’s full moon, he’ll endure unbearable pain. That man’s weak appearance actually made her to let her guard down and feel pity. She vowed, the one who made him like this, she’ll pay him thousand, no, ten thousand times back! It’s just that this man, he doesn’t seem the same like he is on the surface……

Story make no sense. How can 2nd sister whip her face and next day she drug and sleep with a prince. How did 3rd sister end up in the prince of god of war home. 🤕 Headache in this novel. I give up around ch50. IDK why all different novel talk about a girl end up with the prince of god of war. This 3rd novel I came across from.

It was entertaining enough to finish, but the last 1/4 was rather rushed and absurd, as if the author ran out ideas. Luckily it’s fairly short, so I didn’t mind finishing. Basically 90% of the issues are caused by a man or woman that is obsessively “in love” with either MC or ML. For no apparent reason except that they’re gorgeous and talented - they don’t have any personal interaction but become psycho in their attempts to win them. Let me just say that killing off the beloved wife or... more>> husband of your love interest is unlikely to win you their love
Spoiler

and killing their baby in front of them... yeah, not going to go well.

. Especially when you’re not even secretive about it. No villain could give up even when they were severely beaten, they always doubled down until they were ruined and finally killed.

Several serious plot lines were resolved kind of as an afterthought, which made me think the author had kind of forgotten about it.
Spoiler

Like his residual gu poison, he just sat under a waterfall for 81 days and it was gone. And Misha, Who after pursuing her through two lifetimes, mu*dering countless people, and basically being a sociopath, ended up willingly committing “su*cide” and became a childlike person that somehow only forgot her?

[collapse]

The female villains met spectacularly that ends. It kind of losses over how horrible they were, but essentially The female villains met spectacularly bad ends. It kind of glosses over how horrible they were, but essentially
Spoiler

nearly every female villain gets r*ped, sometimes gang r*ped more or less to death. I felt particularly sorry for the 4th sister, whose death was like an afterthought and served no purpose - she was on her way to freedom and then Misha spitefully let bandits capture and r*pe her. She died two months pregnant, surrounded by 10 men, and basically incoherent, but it’s barely mentioned. I really wonder what happened to her brother, since he vanishes.

[collapse]

Honestly, I wasn’t even sure why honestly, I wasn’t even sure how the ML fell so passionately in love with MC. He saw her and then obsessively pursued her, and somehow they were engaged...
Spoiler

The marriage was kind of a plot by her “mom, ” even though her mom didn’t do anything to make it happen? And turned out to be another psycho nursing a grudge for 15 years to get revenge on a guy for not liking her.

[collapse]

Quite a few characters vanished, and I would’ve liked to know what happened to them. For example, her cousin and female friend from the original country.
Spoiler

Sadly one friend that seemed nice just unceremoniously committed su*cide off screen, another afterthought.

[collapse]

It’s a decent read, especially since it’s short and complete. Has a lot of common tropes such as an OP Mary Sue character who is an expert at everything, but it’s entertaining anyway. <<less

This book is so biphobic/homophobic yall!

*SPOILER*

One of the villian arc is that he is a s*x maniac.... as if that isn't enough, they throw in him having same s*x attraction also, which is fine, but it's with a pre-teen... they make it seems like his gayness (not bc of the pre-teen) is on the same level as his other nasty disgusting behavior! Why are queer people always the villains!!!

SO MANY in*est PLOT LINES!!! I understand that most of it was faux in*est, but yall TOO MUCH!

It is entertaining enough even if it does drag and feels like a long read. The main couple romance is nice, they are good to each other (to unrealistic levels too) and they never really fight (just a misunderstandings and some "hid something to protect you" moments where the FL doesn't really get angry past the initial scolding). FL is overpowered and pretty much a Mary Sue with a non annoying personality. The antagonists are uninteresting.

Pros:

-A healthy (if unrealistic) romance. ML fell in love at first sight and was actually... more>> willing to properly pursue her, he didn't feel entitled to her reciprocating his feelings. FL took some time (not much either) and was touched by the loving way he treated her.

-Interesting plot points and background information. The Qiang tribe and ML family history were pretty good. They weren't cliches and had some cool traditions and situations related.

-Ming Yue Cheng was great, better developed than the ML even. Sometimes I truly wished he could be with FL instead of ML. I have no complaints. Probably my favorite character together with Empress Dowager
Spoiler

Only thing I dislike is the epilogue, I get that the author wanted to get him a happy ending but WTF it gives me horrifying Twilight vibes. Even if the age difference and the parent figure to lover weren't a concern... how could a girl be content to be a replacement for her mother? if that isn't the case, author probably should emphatize the whole daughter being a mini clone of her mother thing. In this, it would have been a nobler end if he kept a loving parent child bond with the next generation and kept loving FL from afar or if he just developed a platonic affectionate marriage with the consort... in this case, romantic love wasn't a must for his happiness, it cheapens the noble way he chose to embrace love the rest of the story

[collapse]

Cons:

-The mentalities and personalities of the characters didn't get a lot of development. We get basic traits and that's pretty much it. People are unable to change and grow into better characters. Everyone is pretty linear. The 'good side' has loyal people and the 'bad side' has envious people. That's it. This also means FL and ML make plenty choices I can't quite understand the reasoning.
Spoiler

To start, FL is OP and already a top poison master, martial artist, designer and enterpreuner with her own people and properties. She pretty much is already the ruler of a 'dark side' organization. Yet she chooses to go back to Murong family and put up with their bullying and heed their decisions for her fate all the while being bored and cleverly foiling their 'evil' plans. She isn't intent on revenge for the original owner mistreatment at the Murong's hands, nor does she need their resources. So why to bother going back? We don't get enough insight on her character to even understand that starting point.

[collapse]

-FL is a OP, a Mary Sue and yet she's rather... passive (to not say useless). I get that she's lazy but her actions don't match with her qualifications. She's a poison master and great doctor and yet... when does she use it? There are few times in the whole story and it doesn't make a lot of sense. So many situations could have been easier to solve with poison. Even her husband is so sick with poisons and she rarely gets involved with his treatment. I think the autor simply didn't dare to let her use poison because it's taint her perfection and make her look 'evil'. It is reduced to a convenient achievement that never comes up.
Spoiler

also is she brainless or what?! all the while it was 'oh she's too lazy to kill them and anyways living badly will be worse than death... she left so many 'harmless' enemies alive and they kept coming like c*ckroaches. After the nth time it happened you'd think they truly learn to deal with threaths permanently. I rather think it was also done this way so the author wouldn't make the main characters cross a line and face a moral conflict. Funny how it is only fine when the kills are mentioned aand not shown

[collapse]

-Recurrent themes in plot line. A lot of 'in*estous' relationships and jealous people. Our FL and ML were simply too perfect so they were top targets of love and hate. Everthing bad that ever happened to the antagonists could naturally be blamed on the main couple.
Spoiler

also didn't they mention that ML had a scary reputation and because of his bunch of dead brides no one wanted to marry him so they asked/ordered the neighbour country for a princess to marry him... they had to get to that point so how come he ends up having so many crazy to marry him obsessed girls after him

The only novel I wanted to drop halfway through. But had to complete it to understand why there were so many readers for this

Not worth reading...

I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Every villain had the same thought. The story started off okay, but ended up really bad.

I'm on the fence about this. I'm still reading it but I don't know if I'll drop it halfway or not yet so I haven't rated it.

On one hand I enjoy stories like this, rebirth or transmigration in the ancient period where a cannon fodder character rises from the ashes of their tragic fate. Much like Revenge of the Malicious Empress with Military Lineage.

But... on the other hand the FL of this novel is a little too OP and while I love a good face slap plot, I'm not really... more>> feeling it. The love rivals and opposition seem two dimensional and cheap to even be a threat that taking them down doesn't feel that satisfactory.

And the ML fell in love a little too fast imo. Maybe I've yet to uncover as to why he's already this into her in later chapters?

My frustration lies in...

Spoiler

... the fact that she's supposedly very clever and capable and even to go as far as to use a face mask to keep her appearance 'ordinary'. Yet have a number of potential suitors all clamoring for her hand despite that.

I almost forget that she's a transmigrator from a modern world until they mention that she's an assassin on top of all of that. And all her employees in her shops are from an assassin house.

I really don't see the reason why she stuck around that household and engage in this farce of a roleplay when she is a master of disguise, has a number of nation renowned shops that can supply her for life. With her supposed wit and intellect, she can pretty much disappear into the shadows and still live a good life as one of the several personas she has set up. Master of Medicine, master of dress making, master of jewelry, and hiding her martial arts.

[collapse]

This... is making my head hurt. At this point I'm just trying to find some motivation to read to the end.

Edited: After seeing all the other reviews, which I initially ignored due to the rating... yeah. Ok. I'm dropping this novel. It doesn't seem like it gets any better than what I've already read, I don't want to waste any more time. <<less

One of the best transmigration novels I have read. The FL excels in everything and is a total badass. She has three male alter ego!!! She is cunning, brave and doesn't wait for the ML to come and save her. The ML is also fantastic an utterly romantic and one of the best male characters I have read. He is brave, cunning but not too domineering. The story arcs are all great, especially regarding the FL actual identity and her really creepy uncle!! Also, I loved the additional chapters which... more>> gave closer to all the main characters and like the last chapter of Harry Potter let you know what the children of the main lead and side leads were doing. <<less

i decided to read the ending and holy moly it's twisted

I must say... At the 1st half of the story might be boring for some reader, as theres 'typical-story-plot' about a time-traveler-reborn-into-a-unfavour-waste-young-miss-of-noble-family-but-loved/admired-by-MALE-character (s).. Also where the handsome-ML-chase-by-many-women.. Then, the-faceslaping-scheme&conspiracy by those jealous-women, where (as the) MC 'always' get away 'easily'.. and so on.....

BUT... the thing I like.. as the story flow.. theres more and more plot-twist-and-mystery unfold.. And, the story didn't focus 'only' on the MC & ML, theres extend the story of the side characters and their childrens..

The translator did a good job too..*applaud*

This story is also about time traveler. A Love story between powerful couple. No boring cultivation or developing-one’s-strength/power thing. The MC and ML are powerful, intelligent, and reliable. I’m very satisfied with its story.

Heart-warming, no unnecessary and annoying drama or whatsoever. And a veryyyyy satisfying ending. The chapters aren’t many, so it’s very enjoyable. I’m one of those fans that love when the author describes how beautiful the couple’s appearances are. So if you like this kind of plot, read it. If you don’t, then skip it.

So, thank you author... more>> and translator!!!!! <<less

Revised review, stopped in the beginning due to insufferable illogical characters, now back with a thicker skin and more experience with low-tier-novels:

The short version of the review would be that the story is cramped with fillers that revolves mostly around cannon fodders triggering every single flag of doom that they can find, main characters overly favoured by a mother author and the sensitive topics that are majorly ill represented.

The long version:

MC transmigrates from a modern world to a wuxia-esque ancient time to replace a bullied-to-death unfavoured 3rd miss of a... more>> country's prime minister's daughter.

Be forewarned of a couple sensitive or even triggering topics:

  • Sexually related topics like: r*pe, in*est, coercion into s*xual acts, miscarriage, h*mophobia, biphobia, paedophilia
  • sexism, toxic masculinity, archaic female stereotypes and expectations/roles
  • toxic unhealthy relationship traits: gaslighting, manipulation, controlling, lack of trust, coercive intimidation, lying, Stockholm syndrome
Lengthy amount of examples to back up these heavy accusations:

Spoiler

Rape, or revenge gang r*pe is very commonly used here, although the MC remained safe from this mess, many female cannon fodders have been pushed down this pit. Of course, this had to include the in*est and coercion into long term s*xual relationships that have led as far as to miscarriage.

A lot of the characters, main characters included, cannot to stand bis**uals and homosexuals. They've been mentioned all in a very derogatory way by them and the author only assigned homosexual/bis*xual characters with extremely vile roles.

The sexism is prone in the way MC mocks her cannon fodder crew; she'd dig her finger into their socially assigned oppressive roles instead of simply assassinate their character which have been terrible to begin with. For example shunning someone's natural curves as s**tty, mocking a unmarried woman as an old maid (the lady was 20yrs old, mind you) or degrading a lady's low birth that they obviously have no control over or that the fact the social structure supports concubines. Stockholm syndrome and paedophilia nonsense is in the epilogue.

Over the span of the story you can clearly see how little she values the people around her, the friends so she speaks dearly of, she hardly get in contact with to spend quality time together. She'd go as far as take advantage of one of the simps, staying friends with him despite the fact that he declared his love for her. She hasn't shot him down or accepted it for the sake that his overly devoted friendship can earn her a lot of benefits.

This makes a good example of how insignificant our side characters are, because once their turn is over, they wouldn't even get honorary mentions, come up only for relevancy to the plot and then disappear like they never existed.

The ML has a sickly obsession with our MC. It's her luck and his blessing that she likes him, but ironically she had mocked her simps for acting the same as ML does but somehow ML is suppose to be more 'gentle' when he's clearly not. After getting together, he hardly ever allows her out of his sight or let anybody see her, may it even be a glance. She can hardly go out without him tagging along.

The situation worsened when ML made his first boo-boo when he mistakenly got morbidly jealous over MC's male persona. Cowardly not even considering to have a proper conversation like grown adults, he plans on destroying and killing the man in question.

MC would accept also any kind of excuses and lies he throws at her to get out of the way to admit that he's done wrong or even acknowledge the lack of trust he had in her, even to the point of gaslighting and blaming it on her.

At this point, he's so deep down this rabbit hole, he'd unleash a full on yandere to bind her to him if she'd ever had a change of mind.

[collapse]

The biggest damper on this story are the cannon fodders, that take up to at least 85% of the story. They are one dimensional, so much so as to if you'd take out their inner monologues, do a shuffle, you cannot tell apart whose rambles they originally belonged to.

Most of the characters have no common sense, as if they're just programmed to walk forward, despite waddling in swamps, hitting a wall or get stuck in a tree, as long as they remain vain, simple and hateful towards the protagonists, author calls it a job well done.

There's no face-slapping to make up for it either, MC does fight back but would never completely get rid of those that bother her the most. And when these cannon fodders die, it's all mostly off-screen and through a third party.

All sort of plot lines remain forever irrelevant, author tried using plot conveniences to make sense of everything, but breaks character settings and world build in its stead. Whatever should be in focus was lost and all replaced by irrelevant nonsense.

The romance feels a bit sterile, it's one of those -FL/ML stay virg*ns till they meet their destined other- BS, not only does it apply to the main leads but also side characters have to abide to that too when ironically the MC has broadly announced that if polygamy and polyamory is fine then polyandry should be widely accepted too.

This is just one of the many many irregularity and contradictory traits of the MC. The more you read about her the harder it becomes to visualize her character. At the end, she's more like the monster in AKIRA than, well, a normal looking human being and the ML being your standard flagship model for male leads in asian novels, repurposable if you'd change the skin, name and skillsets.

Later on, the story (which again, was mostly about cannon foddering) becomes obnoxiously boring, melodramatic and repetitive, it made me want to quit again.

I can't find anything redeemable, and if, author will thwart it with heavy laced bullshittery.

The ending:

Spoiler

It has successfully evolved to that sh*t tier novel where (quick) transmigration-into-books novel authors make fun of the OG story for having unstable plotlines, non-existent structures and pampered protagonists. What the main characters say or do is justice, whoever retaliates is wrong, regardless of their own hypocrisy. In the epilogue, the laxative cherry sprinkles, author gives you a cheap knock off ending from Twilight/26 yr age gap and a 'Little Mermaid' + stockholm syndrome side story. Yay.

I tried to hold myself back in roasting this sh*t fest, but when the author killed off a 6 year old child, I snapped. The mains pushed the throne to a defenceless child, left him to his own devices so they can enjoy the unfettered freedom. Of course, the MC ironically says she wants her child to make his own life choices. Putting these two side by side, I really feel bad for the entire cannon fodder crew, who have always been at a disadvantage either mentally or physically. They never stood a chance even when they had all the opportunities and time given. The last villain literally had his hands on MC's child and could've killed him like he wanted but author just made his brain go BRRRT.

[collapse]

It's like a ball of yarn tumbling down a hill, the convoluted story telling is a hot mess.

If this novel was a cake, we started out with a 8 year long expired cake base, topped it with dung, wrapped it in gold and sprinkled with cherry flavoured laxatives.

I want to cry, but have no tears. *Insert screeching marmot on top of mountain cottage veranda* <<less

I like how FL is strong. I like how ML has undying love for FL. I'm just really confuse on how the heck he saw her and started liking her? I got tired of how the villains kept blaming her for stuff she didn't do.
Spoiler

Oh, because of her dad died. Eh, no, your dad died because he killed himself since the woman he loves got killed by the emperor.

[collapse]

Seriously, so s*upid. I feel all the villains were s*upid. She did not do what she did intentionally. Most of the time it was the fault of your mom or your dad.

Spoiler

Besides Murong Xin Lian's mom's death was because of Murong Qi Qi, the prime minister's death was because he chose to die. Or the death of princess Longze Yu Er, how is that her fault? How does most of these deaths be classify as Murong Qi Qi's fault?

[collapse]

Sighs, overall, I really just like how the ML is willing to compromise with FL.

Spoiler

I'm also still kind of distrubed buy Qi Qi's daughter marrying Ming Yue Cheng. I think, the writer should of made him fall in love with Gu Yun Yao. Who cares if they had an agreement, should of made them have feelings for each other. Then have a son to marry Qi Qi's daughter. I know he is hard headed, but the writer should of curb to him moving on and coming to a realization that Gu Yun Yao was willing to do anything to please him. As long as they stuck to the agreement, then when the time period came up, made him realize that he did move on and did not want Gu Yun Yao to leave.

At last wishful thinking. The novel does have some good points that made me enjoy it.

Read up to 140 and dropped it.

Warning* there’s r*pe in this novel, quite gruesome and ongoing but you can just skip it.

I enjoyed it in the beginning, MC is strong and has many capabilities.

... more>> Romance doesn’t start until chapter 60+

Shes a beauty and has many identities but other characters don’t find out until chapter 90+...

Romance is SUPER CHEESY. I prefer lovey dovey romances, but this was beyond cheesy which I agree with other reviewers. It becomes too much at chapter 110+ there was nothing exciting or new anymore.

Lastly, there are words that are not fully translated so it gets kind of confusing if you know zero Chinese but you get used to it I guess. <<less

The female lead is a Mary Sue who can do anything and easily solved problems... she and the ML kept attracting more admirers which is quite tiring to read.

What I hate the most is the author added unnecessary side stories at the end... that made me hate the characters that I used to like. Especially, the "Last Princess" chapters made me sad, angry and dissapointed.

I also hate...

MYC ending with their daughter. I'm okay w/ age gap stories but its cringey & awkward when u imagine MYC being in love with MQQ for whole story and suddenly in the end being married to the daughter that exactly looked like her. Amazing novel. Brilliant story! This story is the typical cliche and all, but it should be considered as one of the best! I’ve read plenty of novels like this but only this and a few others have really captured my heart! I even remembered it as I scoured novelupdates for other novels. The story is heartwarming, something you should definitely read! Since it’s been so long since I’ve read it, I can’t provide the story nor plot, sorry!

Few reviews gave low rating because of the MC is a typical Mary Sue character (which I have to admit that it is true -with her being super strong and all-).

However, that does not stop me from reading it at all. There are just times when you want to read a good story -with some assurance that everything’s gonna be alright, especially if you’re having a shitty time-. And this novel tick all the boxes for me.

1. I don’t have to worry that something sinister is going to happen to... more>> any of the main characters -except that one poor child- (still a lil bit sad ? Because of that one)

2. Good plot, even though there’re always s*upid love-struck side characters (but whatever, I am here for the romance, so sue me) and superb translations (it does wonders for my reading enjoyment when the translations are this good! Though one can only hope).

So, while it does have a mary sure MC, this novel certainly deserves a good rating. <<less

At first I don't like how the MC's so perfect. Every guy falls for her and promise her something big like making her the empress and stuff.

She can do everything!!! She is so beautiful, powerful, talented, has brain and so much money! Hahaha BUT! The more I read, the more I love to continue until I finish it. She has so many identity which at first very annoying but recently I learned to love it and accepted it coz I want to see the reactions of those people around her... more>> when they found out that she is this, and that and that too specially the ML's reaction. :D I'm still in the middle of the story so all I can describe about this novel is there's so much r*pe oh my gosh. Good thing that it wasn't detailed. It has also a little comedy and some fluff.

About he ML, all I can say about him is he's so cute and innocent!!!

I am expecting a slow romance so it disappointed me a little bit. I want to see the characters grow and cultivate their feelings. The ML was struck love at first sight and shows he's so in love with the MC which is a bit overboard.

I also love the side characters and the villains. The author showed why these villains became like this and let us see that we have to pity them too.

Spoiler

Just like the crown prince. At first I super hate his guts but then we also get the chance to see how he became like this. So he's so pitiful. He may have been a good ruler when he haven't found the bad side of his idol.

Also the thing I love about this book are the twists.

Many characters means many stories behind each of them and also different settings.

I also like how the MC and ML have no desire to be the phoenix and the dragon unlike the stories I've read they all became the rulers. Well I haven't finish reading it yet and maybe at the end they will rule but my point is at least they have no desire YET! So I've been thinking how will the story ends since they don't want to rule and those royalties fighting for getting the position are idiots. It makes me think who among them deserves the throne. <<less
