In another world, the skill I was bequeathed was――”Summon Kitchen”? Eh, what the heck is that?!

The Office Lady that got mixed up in a high school girl’s summons to another word―Isarai Shiina.

Unlike the warm welcome given to the high school Saintess, Shiina is forced to live in a corner of the royal palace with her mysterious and newly obtained “Summon Kitchen” skill.

Apparently, using the skill to cook food amasses points, which can then be used to evolve the “kitchen”.

‘With nothing better to do, and things being what they are, I might as well work towards getting my glorious dream kitchen!’ but, despite her enthusiasm, Shiina was told to keep the contents of her skill a secret by her guardian knight, Hurst… By HaruParty

Eunie picked up this project, and writes so well!!! ♥ I am enjoying the translation a lot, and the main character always makes me laugh. She's a cutie!

I like the fact that the skill is way better than she even anticipated! I'm excited to catch up and pass the manga, whoohoo!

The story, okay, readable. Honestly, the system is cool, but all the characters are kind of generic anime trope. Like here's our MC, and here's our prince charming perfect and stoic male lead verging on male escort, and here's a tsundere, and here's a shota, and here's a bro-con. The characters are distinct, but that's all there is to them.

Actually getting to the chapters is hellish. No next chapter button in the chapters, the index doesn't work, it isn't obvious which link on the page leads to the chapter. You... more>> have to scroll down a page from the page nu leads you to, and then guess which of the five links lead to the chapter. (It's generally the one that says "hungry?") <<less

The premise is meant to be cute, but this story is about two weak-willed women trying to carve out a way to live after being abducted by glorified human traffickers. The people in power even go so far as to use the women as hostages for each other's good behaviour. Now, this is not a problem on its own: it's the setup for what could be a great tale about navigating life's obstacles. However, under the author's loving hands, this perfectly promising premise turns into an instructional manual for why... more>> abductees should NOT do anything to restructure what imprisons them, and somehow spins the whole thing into a "happy ending".

Japan seems to like this kind of story, perhaps as parables for women on how to conduct themselves in a properly cheerful manner while decked with ball and chain. Something along the lines of, a good woman has no resentment in her heart, a good woman returns insult with grace and good food, a good woman wouldn't break the status quo that ens*aves them even if they have the ability to break the planet, or at least a few royal necks? Everything is ok because life is reasonably comfortable and some of the traffickers' servants are not so bad? The author tries to play it cute, but how cute is it really? Like slicing open a crispy tonkatsu to find writhing black rot within.

If you are interested in the premise of isekai saintess / food alchemy / incidental romance, but would like to read something less chauvinistic (and also less repetitive), I would recommend The Saint's Magic is Omnipotent or Two Saints Wander Off Into A Different World. 2 stars. <<less

Thumbs up for the translators!! You guys are awesome!!

The MC is interesting. As an OL, I first thought that she would be some boring girl who'll question everything based on logic thinking (because she's a grown lady) and therefore will be annoying, but thankfully THAT'S NOT THE CASE. At all. Her reactions to everything is funny. I'm not saying she's childish. It's just that her way of expressing confusion or delightfulness is so cute.

And I love the way foods are explained, they're simple recipes but author can recites it interestingly.... more>> It makes me want to try everything she's made in the kitchen. Lol.

And the most interesting thing is THE FLUFF. OMG, HURST-SAN!!! I LOVE YOU!!!
Spoiler

Just get married, you two!!!

I came across the manga version first then I continued reading this in novel version. This story was mediocre at most and some might find it a little boring because the plot was so flat from the beginning till the end. Also, don't expect a romance because it's almost non-existent in this story.

Spoiler

MC was awfully dense and it felt unrealistic to me because she was already an adult in her original world. As an office worker, at least she already saw the world so for her to not understand ML's feeling when he was already so obvious, it's implausible to me.

Really, don't expect anything because till the end, MC was still that dense and they're still in an ambiguous state at most.

[collapse]

Aside from that, the story kinda left me a bad taste.

Spoiler

It should be awful for both MC and the saint to be forcefully summoned to another world against their will without being able to go back. At first, MC and the saint's reaction after transmigrating were quite realistic. They both depressed for quite some times but somehow, MC became cheerful again after getting a kitchen and she started to help people around her even though they treated her awfully (except for ML).

Ugh, I think MC and the saint's resentment could be a good starting point to make this story more read-worthy. Instead of helping their kidnapper, it would be better if they just got revenge or something together because it would be more realistic and interesting to read.

I don't know if it's the way the author originally wrote it or if it's the translation but... it's not good. The first translator is hella enthusiastic (which is great, don't get me wrong) but it leads to the chapters feeling disjointed. There are massive spaces between one sentence paragraphs, odd translation discussions in the middle of the chapters and really awkward switching between chapters.

The MC/FL in this is a woman who gets teleported to another world with another girl who becomes the Kingdom's Saintess. The Saintess has OP holy... more>> magic while the MC has the ability to "Summon Kitchen" (in reality, it's more like teleporting into a pocket space Kitchen). The MC can gain Kitchen Points by cooking or getting reactions from people eating her food. However, she's not considered useful by the Higher Ups and gets tossed into a random room where she is ignored.

Spoiler

Rumors do begin to abound, all stating that she is a fallen noble lady who cannot return to her own kingdom. That she has been bouncing around kingdoms and hasn't been able to stay anywhere because she does bad things.

Her knight guard also tells her that she can't reveal her ability so that they don't force her to do things against her will. This goes right out the window when she makes a refreshing drink that can heal/detoxify people. She first heals a fire skill user and then heals every wounded palace guard she finds.

[collapse]

The ML is her escort knight who is super powerful and often called a polar bear. There wasn't much romance in the first 30 or so chapters other than the occasional pining on the MC's part and the ML swearing that he would protect her.

The concept is great but there really isn't anything interesting outside that. I got to the mid-30s before I skipped to the last ten or so chapters (not counting the extras) but it's about the same. A little confusing and jumpy. Plus the translation feels like barely edited MTL which does not help. <<less
