Liam Sera Banfield is a reincarnator.

He had reincarnated into a fantasy world of magic and swords, but at the time the civilization had already been making advancements into outer space.

The setting takes place in an intergalactic empire, a space opera-like universe where humanoid weapons and spaceships battle.

Liam, who had been reborn into an aristocratic family in a monarchic society, has the ambition to one day become an evil lord.

In his previous life, Liam had unfortunately lost everything and died in despair.

— It’s foolish to live for others.

— I will live for myself.

Keeping those feelings in his heart, he has decided to fulfill his goal, but is instead worshipped as a virtuous ruler due to his difference in values.

Will Liam be able to become an evil lord?

Okay, I don't usually write reviews but this story is a good one.

It doesn't have any usual seriousness a shounen genre should but is more of a light read to pass the time so no need to think too much.

The way it was written? I won't say anything, those who reviewed with low rates all stated the wrongs of the author, but as I said, this is a light read to pass the time, no need to think about it.

It's quite amusing misunderstanding story about MC being reborn as a noble, planning to be a ruthless evil lord.. but the world he ends up in nobles are so corrupt and spoiled his approach and actions make him look like a chivalrous hero and great and wise leader...

MC is not dense doormat. He have misunderstood himself by thinking he's doing evil acts but in reality he's like the pinnacle nobleness, other than that single big misunderstanding he's good at everything else. He's not dense to girls and not soft towards pirates and villains, he will eradicate the enemies without mercy.

It is a good noval, that author is quite talented, I read the sevens and other series, all of them are good, (if you exempt the "dragoon", everyone have their up and downs)

I have read this to the point of him fighting the space pirates for 'treasures' and 'disfigured princess knight' whom is a royalty.

Anyways this novel goes maximum firepower in terms of 'plot-holes' and 'plot-armors'

Reasons:

1- If Liam doesn't know a thing or is a pinch, he goes to a 'capsule' that teaches him as a school does and that in term gives you "HUGE!!" see those two exclamation marks? They are there for a reason. He literally became 50 years old before I was even interested in the novel and it... more>> was said that its normal adults age, lmao. Spare me.

2- in these "HUGE!!" Time skips there has been literally nothing interesting besides a scammer teacher whos produces results when I don't even know how XD?

3- THE MC's IQ Levels are just something man, His prev life was like a tragic one "What I read" and that should teach you one thing or another about so told 'Life' but gosh its just a repetition with the plot armor of "white glow"
Me:"Spare me of this idiocity!!!!!" *Screaming into oblivion"

4- The maid Robot/Android he purchased 2nd chapter in has "ZERO" impact on his EQ/IQ throughout those 50 years, imagine this bullshit. 50 years can make a ret*rd into a wise man while he didn't grow up which makes me conclude one thing. This whole novel is full of ret*rds just by the standards of age, "Hallejuah!"

5- I had to tolerate the scammer teacher, the idiotic MC who's 20-50 years old with a time capsule that bestows knowledge and to add it all up, the forced events that are created by the Evil Business Man & White Glow to save the day which is like throwing a ball into the air and catching it by the same hand.

I wasn't even bothered to fix my grammar for this one, refer to "SnoopyGM" For a better Review that screams out my inner thoughts.

Evaluation: Supreme tr*sh on Untold Levels Which I Never Knew Existed. <<less

I tried, I really tried, but I reached a breaking point in this chapter and felt the need to vent. There is a difference between dense protagonist and a brain dead protagonist who just percieves every supposed "hardship" in the most convenient way for him. Sure the concept was fun in the beginning but it just got overshadowed for me real early on by how f*cking s*upid ML is. I mean I'm pretty sure he didn't forget his past life so why does it feel his brain regressed when he... more>> started from a newborn with the way he reasons some things.

Even the plot got pretty stale later on and started to feel like a kid with 8th grade syndrome going through his days with the adults around him getting caught up in some s*upid misunderstanding about his intentions or just humoring him and waiting for him to grow up.

There were a few parts especially in the early stages that I found entertaining so I'll give it a 2

All in all, I'm really shocked by the standard of society with this being rated a 4.4 overall <<less

Overall, there were some funny moments and it was interesting to read. But eventually the guide's antics get boring and the plot creeps sideways instead of in depth and it gets bad.

In the seventh volume, the author suddenly introduces elves, orcs, and goblins, and... Safely forgets about them! And this at a time when the different factions are fighting for the throne and the author already doesn't have time to reveal everything properly. Next, this very politics will unfold in the most illogical way possible.

There seems to be no plan... more>> for development. Example - new races (which weren't even hinted at) and kidnapping the protagonist to a fantasy world to defeat the Demon King. It all turns the story into tr*sh.

The harem is a painful one. He declares that he will collect it, but he rejects all women. With Rosetta, he was dragging his feet until volume 10... In general, a complete lack of balls like in another novel by this author, World of Otome Games is Tough For Mobs. He is told to leave an heir, but he refuses and finds ridiculous excuses. In general, his behavior is more childlike, and he doesn't act like someone who had a child in a past life.

This is not a review but instead for you all who reads a bad review from normie-ass people about this series

1. Tax

I don't know why people is so concerned how the taxation works in intergalactic era, and as you read the author actually doesn't seem like bothered to because that is not the point of this series, for the reader to comprehend an intergalactic era of taxation because I bet the author doesn't even have a useful reference, but idiot normie-ass people do insist to have in a bullsh*t intergalactic... more>> fantasy, but anyways just to help you. We start off from the first 12 years of the economy of the series. In the first 2 years Liam have to give up/sell his spacecraft assets just to secure 2 years at least he has in this world while also being educated in an education capsule. From here along with his training Liam' government has underwent a vagabond hunt for corrupted officials. In the next decade, the economy structure, we could just put the Japanese kind of society because I bet that is all he has, now why I only said first 12 years, it's because after that he went head on with a certain pirate and won and recieve an item that could basically create anything out nothing (or at least some source) and after that his territory just do pirate hunting which they deemed more profitable than other means.

2. Plot armour

I'm gotta agree the series has thick armor, but when in combat he is no the only highlight almost all of his personnel and every different confrontation it is always different, take for an example this and imagine it, 70000 enemy spacecraft on one side and half of it is the allied forces with big mothership for days they are waiting who to have the first move why? Because the enemy knew the strategic commander on the allied forces is formidable along with their leader, then suddenly out of nowhere on the side o the enemy forces space warps HS started appearing one after another and it's the forces of the allied forces along with the rinforcement he has because of his relationship with other elader they sent him help. The only plot armor they are referring to it is because Liam won't just die, but what are you gonna do he is actually filthy rich as well as his bribes with competent people he can survive as well as good relationship with merchants and spacecraft factory, not only that the mecha he is using is from a hero in the past in his territory which is his grandfather, and it's also not Liam's fault that he could get certain items that will help him, and that is the next topic

3. The guide

The guide is not a god just so normies still insist, the guide and is what refer to as transient beings or being who is just able to make use of higher dimensions than what we in reality could perceive in, like for example thee guide is not all knowing, if he saw ain interesting toy to make miserable then he will do it but he doesn't know everything he doesn't know what everyone has because he is not an omnipotent being like a "god" but he has knowledge bout almost everthin because he is a transicnet beings that could go to other worlds easily as well as control people's emotion which a transient being could do.

4. Girls

This is harem oh indeed there are actually a lot of harem potential in it but not all of them, most readers of this I bet is just "Only Amagi fans" and other girls are just plainly disappointment and very much disappointment for Liam who has first hand on it his past wife, but those girls are made like just for comedy nothing else heck the protagonist is not even serious about all of them only for Amagi he has his heart.

5. World. Buildingg

The world building is just so insane this one I can't explain for you need a higher fantasy thinking to understand why this series has just insane world or universe <<less

This novel is very bland. To be honest, It has lot of potential as "Evil Lord" just like what this novel title is. But there is lot of problem, the plot is very force and also for the sake of comedy.

-The Guide is only for the sake of comedy. I don't get it, why author use it. Its purely tr*sh to use the Guide as the plot.

-MC know his Master Yasushi is a scammer yet he still glorify him. Ofcourse for the sake of comedy again.

-Nevermind the Age and timeline... more>> in this novel. It doesn't make any sense. A Crown Prince (very older than the MC) is an idiot even they have education capsule. Why use Educational Capsule if people still dumb even they use it? I know, because it is part of the plot. LAME PLOT

-Tax and infrastructure, economic of his "planets" territory, author didn't make it clear, its like doesn't exist to this novel. I don't even know how many his populations.

-MC's subordinates pop up everywhere without solid background

-MC's harem is non existent. He keeps talking about having a harem for himself but he never touch his wife and mistress. BETA MC.

-Every plot is favorable to him and after that MC will thank again the Guide. Repeat and rinse. Author never tired doing that for the sake of comedy. I don't even understand about the Dog.

-MC killing and increasing his influence in the capital yet the Emperor doesn't do anything. Seems like the Emperor is also non existent and will just pop up nowhere to become the stepping stone of the MC and also for the sake comedy once more.

-MC's parent/Clan. Author forgot them. I understand that they leave all territory to MC who is like 5 years old, why? Because of the Guide that is the plot however from what this Guide can do is to manipulate negative feelings. But how come the Guide manipulate the whole clan to leave all the territory to MC who is like 5 years old? Author didn't clarify it and just said its common to leave it heir and live on the capital. Favorable plot for MC so he can be the king in his territory. Only dumb author who will use this kind force plot.

-MC is delusional by keep talking to himself about being the Evil Lord and he wants no one order him around but he never have the ambitious to be the Emperor. He support the 3rd Prince and ask for a compensation to have his territory independent when the 3rd Prince become emperor. If it just like that then the MC better to be the lord of pirate. MC have mental disorder.

To summarize:

I rate this novel 2/5 (Make a better plot and stop this forced comedy)

I don't recommend this novel. MC is delusional. Forced Plot, Forced Comedy, All characters is idiot despite using Educational Capsule. Its a waste of time.

Better read "To be in Power From the Shadows" than this novel. <<less

First thing - it's greatly written. It's just that pleasant to read. I couldn't bear it, and went to check, what've the author done beside this, and... Wow. "World of Otome games is hard for mobs", one of my favourite novels. But this one is even better!

It's not a serious story. Comedic undertone is so strong, it could be even called a parody series. But the army building aspect here is anything but a joke. Most prominent part and a culmination of each volume is huge scale space battles with... more>> tens of thousands of battleships and cqc with small mecha/mobile armour.

This novel combines a lot of my beloved tags - misunderstandings, sci-fi, fantasy, AI, loyal subordinates. I like how MC has a lot of "power" - not only personal fighting strengh, but the one of a ruler. Be it bribes, information gathering or personal assassin corps, you will believe that he will get anything he wants in this world, not because of some fickle "plot armour", but because of everything he built with his own efforts and decisions (even with a joke reasoning like "I want to be the best villain").

For me the only problem is the lack of proper side characters. Just as main character is great, they all are lacking as much. Most of them are treated as (and actually are) just a joke. It's getting better recently, with multiple POV's, and some of the new ones have great potintial, but we really need to spend more time with them. I pray for greater Amagi's presence!

Anyway, it's great as a whole and still has lots of potential. This author has become my favourite, and his works are just increasing in quality with time. Bias 10/10 from me, would read again. <<less

So far, this novel has been great. The MC keeps gaining more and more followers throughout the story without even noticing. The next thing I'm about to say may be wrong, but I'm going to say it anyway. The basis of this whole novel is misconceptions and misunderstandings. For someone who enjoys irony, I highly suggest you read this novel. It has mild and witty jokes, and frankly, I just feel happy when reading this novel. To me, it feels like an amazing work of literature. There are so many... more>> mysterious things that happen during the begining that coincide with things happening later. The mystery also keeps it interesting. I always enjoy anticipating on what the MC may do next. Most of the time it's unpredictable. Plus, there are numerous factors that keep you wondering 'What is that?', and 'What is going to happen?'.

I'm really excited and anxious for the next chapter. <<less

Spoiler

It took until the main characters martial arts training was in full swing for me to start enjoying it properly, but after that it's been highlight after highlight.

[collapse]

Despite often stepping into cliché, the author has kept the story, beyond just the comedy, surprisingly engaging. A lot of novels of this type lose their luster after the first volume when the author has used up all his vaguely original ideas. This one is still going strong and, if anything, seems to be getting better.

Since I have a lot of love for the power fantasies, (lucky) misunderstanding comedies and pseudo-bad guy main characters, this novel is predictably one of my favourites. Don't expect anything here to change your mind if you already know you don't like that kind of thing yourself. <<less

Look, these kind of novels aren't exactly masterpieces. The amount of webnovels I truly consider good can be counted on one hand. But this one is like a tasty burger; yummy while you're eating it but far from the epitome of good taste. It's good fun watching the MC thwart plans and fight cool battles, but at the back of your head while you're reading it is just the notion that this is kind of shallow. How should I put it...

This novel is satisfying. I wouldn't say it's good, but it's satisfying. For those of you that would like to enjoy a parody of the typical OP protagonist who has a ridiculous amount of plot armor then you'll enjoy this.

I'm not going to get into the characters, actual plot lines, or anything like that cause I see this novel as more of a parody of the OP MC novels that use a lot of clichés and repeated tropes as a whole.

The author utilizes misunderstandings in order... more>> to create a false sense of confidence for the MC, who then performs feats that would otherwise be impossible. They use it in a way that it seems they're making fun of the typical novels out there that allow the story to progress utilizing repeated tropes from similar novels, which is entertaining for me.

On the other hand, this novel could be said to have a couple of running gags that repeat themselves. Which people can find irritating or boring after seeing once or twice. If that's you then I wouldn't read this with high expectations.

I put a description of the jokes in the spoiler.

Spoiler

Liam, the MC, always finds himself in a situation where he's in the underdog position or in a situation where he needs a convenient opportunity to make use of, so that he can overcome the odds. This is all thanks to a 'helpful' Guide providing support, despite the Guide hoping for the opposite to happen. Liam then goes on to procure a lot of gains that help him increase his own strength and influence.

Another one would be that he attempts to act as an evil lord that selfishly indulges himself on the suffering of his people, but all his efforts to do so leads to the opposite effect. His people are becoming more prosperous with his every action and he's being hailed as a hero in his country due to his noble actions. Mostly due to him being unable to stand witnessing evil because in his past life he was often taken advantage of, despite wanting to be evil himself.

[collapse]

So overall you should be able to enjoy this novel, but you might end up getting bored of it after reading for a while. So I'd say it's not necessarily too good, but satisfying if you consider that it's a parody. <<less

Like many other reviewers said, the execution of this story is rubbish. There's no plot direction; it feels like things just happen around the MC without anything to connect them. Things are introduced and then forgotten soon after. Things that feel like they should be important are only briefly mentioned or just happens in the background. Characters are bland at best and absolutely infuriating at worst. You'd think that the tragic backstory the MC has would force him to be at least a little bit competent, but no, he's still... more>> an absolute moron whose only saving grace is a particularly thick set of plot armor.

This novel honestly feels the same as the author's previous works only with a different set of paint which is quite telling of the author's skills as a writer. If you enjoyed the author's previous works you might like this, but this feels like the kind of novel you'd read only if you didn't have anything else left. <<less

Let us see.... trying not to spoil.
The novel is quite good, don't expect a real *conflict*, more than it being a plot armor its more of the novel focusing in the delusions of the MC being an evil lord. Therefore if that kind of easy situations displease you then just give it a quick try/skim to be sure.

Same author of OtoMob so if you like that one it may be a good comparison in the style.

The translation is great and if there are any mistakes it usually gets taken... more>> care of soon after reporting it, so your mental sanity does not get consumed like when reading some MTL.

Spoiler

honestly I started reading this with a lot of hope. I liked the author's other works. I enjoyed reading dragoon, sevens, and otome mob, and had I hoped I would enjoy this in the same level as those other works. Sadly I didn't.

The premise was interesting and the story did build up nicely, but it has a lot of problems which really made it hard for me to continue reading it.

To be able to identify the problems I compared this with the author's past work and other 'misunderstanding' stories. And after comparing it, it became clear how this particular story fell short.

The story this time took place in a scifi fantasy type world. The setting reminds me of his past work which in part because all the protagonists are of noble descent with overwhelming power to take on an unjust world or something along those lines.

but alas, this is not sevens nor dragoon nor is it otome mob.

Unlike sevens and dragoon the MC, Liam, did not go through much struggles to achieve his power, this made his power feels inconsequential. Neither did his power come from a comical source related to an established plot like in otomege mob.

What's more painful is the one dimensional interaction between him, his power, and his enemies. All interaction he did with his enemies could usually be easily solved by his brute force without much consequences.

Liam felt very one dimensional and his powers felt undeserving. He did not show much vulnerability in the face of adversity, a vulnerability that he would then need to work on to overcome his struggles.

As someone would say, the plot armor is thicc in this one, and I would argue this sense of deus ex machina which keeps happening a lot might be an indicator of lazy writing; this made the power balance in the story felt off.

The characters are not loveable. Yes, you might argue some of them are loveable, I like brian, I like Rosetta, but that's it. Liam does not seem to be very consistent with his dream and his motive sometimes may come in to question, while his friends and allies felt unimportant to the character's development and the story as a whole which made them very forgettable.

His enemies would boil down to be the same with each other, with each addition they did not bring anything new to the table, basically just the same set of skills but stronger or bigger. Compared to the enemies in otome mob, which gives new powers and new ways to interact with the main character, the enemies here feels really boring and forgettable.

This story's fixation on the guide is baffling to me and is a major turn off. I do not feel that the guide is a good contrast to Liam.

In my opinion as a misunderstandings story protagonist Liam feels too bland and normal. The story progression also felt too normal and too predictable to be a misunderstandings type of story. The misunderstandings felt forced and it feels to be just a way to add flavor text Liam's personality.

Compared to stories like Overlord or the eminence in shadow, the way the misunderstandings play about felt repetitive as a joke and unimportant to the story.

a lot of these might come down to pet peeves, but a lot of it may stack up really quickly.

[collapse]

tl;dr2: a lot of bland character and sh*t power balance. Not weird enough to be a believable misunderstandings story. I do not recommend. <<less

Until the point I've read, it seems to be a pretty interesting novel where the MC get's reincarnated in a universe of swords and magic after it has already developed.
He gets reincarnated because a certain entity destroyed his previous life as an appetizer and want to make him suffer even more in this life as its "main meal", but the MC ends up unknowingly getting his revenge and torturing the entity instead.
The MC has his flaws and traumas, besides an overall distaste of other people, most of it... more>> caused by said entity inm his previous life, but I believe he should get over it in time, seeing as this author is good at making character growth, be it the MC or the side characters.

Also, THIS IS NOT A CULTIVATION NOVEL, most of the bad reviews I've seen here are basically complaining about the same things and making it obvious that they were expecting a cultivation novel with an evil MC like the one from WMW, or that the MC does not act like a protagonist of a cultivation novel, how the magic system is not like cultivation novels, etc...
Note that I DID NOT say that it was all of them, not all novels are for everyone and that's normal. But most of the ones I've seen are like that. <<less

I feel as if so many people are missing the point of this series. This isnt some deep world building adventure, a vengeful epic, or cultivating to grandmist kinda novel. Its comedy!

Our protagonist is living a terrible life manipulated by his ex-wife. Upon his death an evil trickster gives him a seound chance, hoping to hurl him back into suffering. But he fails again and again, the MC is living his own story. sh*t always goes just right, hell half his decisions are random and just so happens to be... more>> a perfect decision. Thats whats supposed to be funny, his own disconect from the plot.

Our MC is riding the high of life. He decides whatever and people roll with it. He thinks himself the premier overlord, an evil nobleman who bleeds his people dry. Again, hese disconnected from the reality of the story. Comedy... people... funny.... yahya <<less
