One day, Japan was transferred to another world.

Because of its poor food production and previous reliance on imports from other countries, Japan faced a food shortage crisis. To slow the effects of starvation from its populace, the Japanese government declared a state of emergency. The Japan Air Self-Defense Force explored the surrounding area and found a land mass about 1000 kilometers to the southwest―the continent of Rodenius.

Japan was able to resolve its food shortage after entering into diplomatic relations with the Principality of Kua Toine and the Kingdom of Quira. However, at that time, another country on the continent, the hegemonic Kingdom of Rowlia, declared war on Kua Toine and Quira.

In light of this new crisis, how will Japan respond? A survival story on a national scale!

I really like this novel but I hate the parts where the different county’s talk about Japan’s defence force and say things like “how can their navy’s magic cannons hit this far?!” Even though it isn’t magic, I get that they don’t understand it but still it gets me fuming how the different county’s are calling japans weapons “magic weapons” even though they aren’t.

Another part I dislike is when the country’s visiting japan, are amazed with all the advanced city’s and say like, “I can’t believe Japan made all this... more>> using science” or something like that. Thats kinda like saying japan made all that technology even though it’s the work of not only japan but all of japans old world for over 1000s of years. They know japan came from another world but are still saying that.

If they just think for a second, the different country’s are gonna realize japan didn’t make even half of the technology and that’s it made by not only japan but japans old world, not just japan. Well maybe this is just a me thing but whatever. Also sry for bad grammar didn’t really feel like looking it over much.

It just gets me mad how japans getting all the credit for the technology. <<less

I hope MoD include the short story "The Forgotten World" in the translated chapters because there is a hint to the next enemy of Japan, the Annun Lille Empire. Pride of Powers 1 will be the 1st encounter of Japan and Annun Lille Empire and the reaction of the ALE diplomat about the knowledge of Japan about their true national power will most likely lead Japan and ALE into war, added by the events in "The Forgotten World"

The Japan-ALE War will also become a test of strength and reliability of the new Japanese weapons (F3, aircraft carriers, nuclear subs, etc.) which will have a very important role in the defeat of the Ravernal Empire. If the ALE are better users of the RavE's technology than the HME (can use the Flying Battleships in its almost full capabilities) and Japan managed to defeat ALE, there's no doubt that Japan can defeat the Ravernal Empire.

I like this. If you're thinking this is same as GATE, it's not even close. You should read Rune Troopers and Modern Weapon Cheat in Fantasy World for the reference. This is much more detailed. Not with your usual loser pu*sy MC. When the JSDF fought the empire, this is the same as Parabellum in Modern Weapon vs Alsace Magic Empire, but with finer detail such as multiple perspective and political views. The translation is also great. Hope the translator continued this. Looking forward for the next chapter.

This one satisfy the fantasy genre of modern vs medieval age series, to those mofos who's saying that they just cant last log of how unrealistic and how amateur the author because he only made it as a gun, figjter and warship p04n then dont read it, because you have not even read its genre its a faqing fantasy novel/series that satisfies the specific theme of modern vs medieval and the author delivered it, and to those mofos who have problems that japan lacks aggression or anything to protect or... more>> stop the massacre, then you might better read more fantasy made by japanese people, its already a template that japan will always choose dialogue rather than with their weapons, bit*h ass people saying how unrealistic the series is xD hahahha lmao this is peak fantasy level of modern vs. Medieval, <<less

I liked this series as its similar to gate but instead of a gate opeing connecting both world its japan that have been transferred.

As alot of question that people ask. As why japan tried to deploy a relationship with the barbaric country. It is a known fact that alot of asian people still doesn't forgive japan for what they did in ww2 (just read alot of chinese novel and you know what im saying). What im saying is I think this is the most s*upid yet kinda realistic decision that... more>> japan prob make if this happend <<less

as of chapter 17: I quite like this, and the only larger issues I have with it are immersion-based. Examples would be things like worldwide (apparent) spoken modern japanese despite different written languages. Another (very large) immersion issue is the apparent worldwide use of the meter, which was not defined until the 1700's and used the earth's circumference, despite this planet having a different circumference.

EDIT: messed up when making this, so my rating is 4/5

Like GATE, if GATE was written by someone who didn't know about politics, economy, industry, human psychology, modern technology, diplomacy, history, logistics, or even how the military works.

Oh, and the author also wrote every combat encounter nearly the exact same way and then saw nothing wrong with that.

Starts out okay with diplomatic treaties happening between Japan and different races but quickly becomes a Japan Jerkoff contest with how great their military is and how righteous their people are, not to mention how the author alludes to WW2 as just Japan being the Victim of U.S. Aggression and no remarks about how they invaded other countries with conquest as their goal. Read it if you like the usual advanced military attacks third world nation bit, but this just gets boring.

Ever since I watched Gate, I've been a fan of this type of modern military VS medieval army in another world kind of story. The story is told in multiple POV of different countries and their interactions with Japan. I think it's interesting how there's different countries and civilizations of varying levels of technology development found in that world. However, I do question some of the decisions made by the Japan depicted here. I don't know much about Japanese politics to complain though...

Spoiler

For example, during the international conference of the world powers, Japan was invited after they defeated the superpower Papaldia Empire. Here, they only sent their representative with a patrol boat from Japan's Coast Guard as their only escort, since they trusted the host country for the security and didn't want to hurt their host's pride. Unlike Japan, the other countries sent their stronger military vessels practicing "gunboat diplomacy." Then here comes The Eighth Empire representative declaring war on the world and leaving. Later, they come back and wrecked everyone including Japan's patrol boat with their WW2 era battleship and air raid.

Spoiler

Although Japan tries to prevent the outflow of their technology to the outside, it still spreads through books and material imports. There's even a book that shows how a jet engine works.

I still enjoy the story and can't wait until more chapters are translated. <<less
