ExR’s summary:

An average, ordinary university student had his first life burned away in a painful death from a fire, causing him to transmigrate into a prince of another universe. However, never did he expected that his younger brother, who he fiercely protected and ultimately brought to the throne, would be the one to betray him. Upon being on the brink of death after suffering three years of torture, he was thrown into a river.

Scarred physically and mentally, he ended up being washed up at an eccentric yet peaceful place he had never heard of before. Having nowhere to go, he began working as a helper in the government office, apathetic about his life.

Will he be able to heal from his traumas and rediscover the beauty of life?

Tldr: A healing story of a transmigrator who slowly recovers from his trauma, finding happiness and fluffy romance in a strange yet peaceful place.

Author’s summary:

An average, normal university student transmigrates into the royal family in another world, where he becomes one of the successors of the throne. Life in the palace is inevitably difficult though, what with all the scheming enemies around him. This man’s only wish in this world is to be able to protect his “younger brother,” and for that, he’ll do anything–whether by hook or by crook–to ensure his brother’s safety and have him succeed the throne.

The man never once expected, though, that the person whom he swears to protect would be the one to stab him in the back. He got locked in a dungeon where he was tortured for three years. And when he was on the brink of death, his body was thrown away into the river.

When he wakes up, he finds himself in an eccentric and peaceful place, where everyone is suspiciously more than what they seem…

Really.. This story.. is so.. comforting and touching aaaaa.. Finding the reasons for your life... ML is nice for MC damn, they're very suitable. Don't expect a lot of plot since it truly revolves around the character's insight. Wanted more tbh but it's also a good end. There are still some topics that author-san can add if you read the story, right? Right? Don't deny it. Anyways, I'll just leave it to my imagination, hehe.

I have to make a complaint though, the villagers teasing the MC is just too annoying. I'm surprised people find this funny and cute actually, I find it mocking and I felt like crying for him. I would probably have a mental breakdown. I just hate it.

It's a good story, cute, healing, funny, but don't expect much from the plot. I recommend to read it after a long story, like I came here after finish Can Ci Pin.

It's surprisingly quite good. From the title and the summary, it did not seem impressive. However, after reading it, it really touched my heart and was really calming.

It's mainly about the MC trying to heal in another place after he 'died' when he was betrayed by his brother. It's quite a slow-paced story so those that prefer more context and more drama may not like this. The place where the MC ended up is somewhat mysterious at first. However, as you slowly read on, you will know the secret behind... more>> the place and its people. It was quite interesting to slowly uncover and understand the history of that place.

Spoiler

Another thing will be the ML. Despite the ML being kind and gentle to the MC. You will understand that he really isn't. White others might say that he is very drastic and cold-blooded, I disagree. Mainly because that was how he was raised and taught. Since he was very young, he has experienced what we or even the characters in the novel will never experience so I do not think it's right to judge or to perceive him as someone evil just like that. Though I do think that he is a little too 'exaggerated?? While deciding and doing things such as killing someone or trying to wipe out a country.

[collapse]

But overall I do think that it was a pleasant and good read. My heart felt warm when reading it. It just makes me smile unknowingly. The way people helped the MC to heal and the way the ML helped to love and care for the MC was soooooooo good. I really felt joy and ease when reading it. It's quite suitable for those that are under stress or are not feeling good cause this is a good story to lift your spirits :) <<less

I really loved it

sometimes I just come back to read it again because it feels... somewhat relaxing?

Overall a sombre mood but it's not depressing per se, just a very calm experience (which is kinda nice every now and then)

This story was recommended in many lists and by many people and at last I read which I should have done long time ago. Even though slow paced this story was not boring for a moment, I really enjoyed it.

My only complaints are:

1. The begining of the story was too rushed and did not give us much understanding of MC's pre-guang-tian character.

2. MC often behaved pretty childlishly, throwing stones and pushing Mo Shu into dirt, etc. While I understand that it was not without provocation, it was such an immature... more>> reaction. Did not really like this side of him.

3. The culmination, i.e. The origin of Guang Tian was a little bit disappointing. Wish there were more to its mysterious ways and purpose.

Still that was one of the best danmeis I have read. <<less

So I tried really hard, pushed myself until my limit to continue this novel and not dropped it, It was supposed to be a quick reading, perhaps 2 or 3 days, but I caught myself reading this for 2 weeks! I would creat som excuse to not read, cause to be honest I didn't like it. The translation is great (as always) but I think I prefer a little bit of actions, the first chapters is really promising, but if you're someone who likes mistery, adventures and cl**ked in this... more>> novel because of the angst description, then you going to be disappointed. However, that's a funny and sweet slow slice of life story, if it's what you prefer I'm sure you're going to like it. <<less

I read the review section first which is rarely done by me. And some of it give kind of negative vibe like its not really worth to read. So, I just set it aside for awhile and yesterday I made up my mind to read it. The first chapter is good so I continued reading without knowing when I came to the end. Lucky im not influenced by the negative review. If not for sure I loss this piece of comfort and warmth of a book.

The plot sure is slow... more>> but not to the point of infuriated you. Mo Shu sure is kind of possessive but not to the point of Nan Ge Er feeling restricted. I just feel they both have a tacit understanding of how the other feelings and didnt ponder much of it. As for the background for sure its kind of suspicious at first but when you reach to the point of total exhausted, despair and at the brink of death, just breathing and able to survive is enough. As long as those suspicious stranger is kind and have no malintent is enough.

I really suggest this book for a light reading. Its nice and warmth seep through your heart. <<less

My rating is around 4.3/5

This story was incredibly sweet, the ML and MC's interactions are caring towards one another, the townsman are mysterious yet funny at the same time.

The story deals with how the MC recuperates peacefully from his past traumas after washing up onto a mysterious town, there is little angst in here which is nice, the ML helps MC to deal with his trauma slow and steady, the townsman were also very kind towards MC by helping him with his daily life too.

However there was a issue that... more>> bothered me at times, but I've later grown used to it.

Spoiler

It's mainly how the townsman and ML regard outsiders as "ants" or at times they seem to look down towards outsiders, as I continue to read, I could understand why as the townsman are really strong compared to the outside world, and they wanted to keep their village hidden from malicious people.

[collapse]

The MC although he is weak, he slowly grows back healthy, he is kind and helpful towards the townsman and ML, but at times he still struggles with his traumas, especially when some actions causes him to go back into his traumatic state, but again he will slowly recuperate from it.

Regarding the ML, his and MC's relationship was similar to co-workers at first, but later he started treating MC kinder and helps to take care of him, at times he can be possessive towards MC, but he knows his boundaries and does not oversteps it.

This might be a spoiler, it's about the ML

Spoiler

He has a high blood thirst towards outsiders, later in the story when he and MC went to the outside world, while going into a random village, he immediately started killing them for no reason at all, even worse is that MC's trauma happen to resurface after seeing what he did, however MC will recover from it later on.

[collapse]

That kinda bothered me a little but I've somewhat accept it in a way (not really), the story is still nice to read though.

Also do note that there isn't any face-slapping revenge type in here, it's merely just MC's daily peaceful life of recuperating and enjoying his time in the village. If you like a fluffy BL story with little angst plus a lil smut too, then this might be a good read for you. <<less

I found this novel to be a very a sentimental one for some reason. There isn't really much plot to it and just has more to do with the MC passing his time in village peacefully with the ML. If you're looking for one that has a lot of action, this isn't the one for you. Much of the chapters are just the MC not doing much except living the life of a normal person in the village. As for me, this was the type of novel that I quite... more>> liked. It's a very tranquil one and doesn't delve too much into things like scheming and betrayals which saved me a lot of time from feeling angry at certain characters throughout the novel. The romance between the couple is very slow so you don't see too much of the MC for a bit at the beginning of the novel. Despite that, I found it to be a very satisfying read since it felt like the way they fell for each other was quite natural and realistic. <<less

Cute, funny yet sad story about the MC finding himself and ML helping to pick up the pieces.

There is some mystery regarding MC's past and the place he now lives especially the residents that lives there. It's very funny. I can't count how many times I had sudden giggles on the train to work reading this. So cute! And at times really heart warming especially seeing how MC is healing and finding another reason to live.

The romance is really slow and not much action like fighting or anything but I... more>> really recommend reading this. It's really nice change of pace from reading other heavy novels. <<less

One of the best BL stories I've read. The romance is seriously sloow buuurn, but it was definitely worth it! The progress between MC and ML felt natural. It wasn't love at first sight and it wasn't just feelings of gratitude turning into love. It was the mutual affections of two individuals who just fit together.

The first third of the story might feel a bit sluggish, but it does a wonderful job of establishing the characters and the environment/settings. And it goes without saying that Mo Shu (ML) 's village... more>> is one of the best parts of this novel.

MC is physically weak, but his mental fortitude is notging you can scoff at. Definitely not a damsel in distress type.

ML is introduced as this enigmatic figure--MC finds him childish and sloppy, yet the town shows him grst respect. He's charming though not without hudden depths that will be revealed bit by bit in the latter chapters.

Their dynamic just worked so perfectly. Ughk. And even the side characters are great!!

While I deeply enjoyed the romance, what I love most about this isn't the romantic entanglement of MC and ML. In some way, even their romance isn't the focal point of the story. Instead, it's the recuperation of the MC.

Although not explicitly stated, how the author portrayed Nan Ge Er (MC) is somewhat an accurate depiction of depression--the state of apathy towards your own existence (heed the trauma tag). And it really struck a chord in me how his recovery was handled. It wasn't ML's love that "cured" him; first and foremost, it was Guan Tian. Little by little, Nan Ge Er was able to reconcile his with his past life and brother's betrayal and was able to let go of his grievances. He was able to remake his identity and enjoy his simple day by day. And I dare say that it is a "rebirth" the surpassed his transmigration.

Reading this felt like floating in the ocean. Quiet and calm, but with an undercurrent of danger. It is soft, so very very soft, but neverthless, there is something foul underneath all that fluff. But no worries!! It's HE! ❤ <<less

Its sweet and fluffy, but there's certain darkness bellying it so just watch out for that. Still worthwhile if you want to smile s*upidly. The smut is only on the second to last page so don't get your hope up too much.

Such a sweet, yet heartrending story. My little pumpkin is so tragic and my heart hurts for him. I feel like one of the town aunties who just want to love and feed him until he’s healthy and well. He’s honestly so lovable. Our Mo Shu is very refreshing and absolutely hilarious he’s so far gone. All in all, I love the messages in the story and all of its symbolism. I love that it’s a story of finding light when you’ve fallen into hopelessness — that the future is... more>> unexpected and may hold a flower of hope where you least expect it. There’s honestly several poignant lines that I will treasure in my heart. It is absolutely beautiful. Thank you ExR Scans for translating this lovely piece. <<less

The beginning can be dark, but the rest of the story will make up for it. The amount of dog food and sweets that you’ll eat will send you to the hospital. I really adore this couple. They’re so cuteeee!!! I highly recommend 1, 000, 000/10.

To be honest... I wanted some revenge but... our beloved MC is truly magnanimous and benevolent. I also love our ML, he’s not the typical ML and the character development is quite interesting in how the author chose to display them. The dynamic of their... more>> relationship is something to envy... *sigh* I wish the story didn’t have to end... its so good! <<less

Sweet and interesting, a very pleasant slice of life story. Good for when you want to take a break and just enjoy a nice read. A little like Yotsuba to! just replace the crazy adorable cuteness with a relaxing balm instead.

I've read this story twice. The first time was after I finished my NOC contract, and once again after I regained my motivation to go on. Chapter 21 made me bawl my eyes out back then, but it made me smile on my second readthrough.

This novel accompanied me throughout such enduring times, and it deserved so much more than this five-stars rating and abundant love in my review.

Absolute gem. Read this story a while ago, and as I went through my reading list I came across it again.

I've read this probably 2-3 times total. It's very soft, and very feel good.

There's no big overarching plot, but it's very interesting reading through and slowly unraveling the mystery of the village the MC found himself washed up by.

Healing short-read danmei. I love how the MC (transmigrator) is smart enough to know his circumstances. The romance felt so real and not forced. Both characters just fell in love with each other while living together and I think it’s sweet!

Good read. MC was betrayed and almost killed by his brother. He was saved and started his new life in which he slowly recovers from his trauma. He learns more and more about the place and its secrets. And finds his happiness. :) It is a slow paced novel but well written.
