Residing within the dense forest in Nore are the beautiful elves of Elune Forest. After the young elves began to be hunted by the humans to become s*aves, the Queen of Elune decided that young elves could not leave the forest until after their adult ceremony at fifty years old. When Hai’an’s ceremony finally arrived, he was excited to be able to finally travel away from his home and see everything the world had to offer. However, he got more than he bargained for.

What was supposed to be a simple ceremony turned into Hai’an transmigating to the body of… a plant?!

Stuck as a small sapling called Shaking Grass, Hai’an was bought and given as a birthday gift to a retired Starfleet Marshal named Auguste.

After retiring due to political conflict, Auguste spends his time trying to find more of his missing race, the ancient dragons. Unexpectedly receiving Hai’an, Auguste believes him to be nothing more than a rare, exotic plant. To his surprise, he finds that this little plant is intelligent and learns more and more every day.

How will this stoic, unfeeling dragon fall in love with the little transmigrated elf who lost his body?

I usually wait til at least chpt 20 to review works, but this one is rather promising. Definitely not like something I've ever read before, or at least, not in BL.
The political setting reminds me a bit of the Sci-fi show "Firefly". A group of political disadents forced out of the empire and just trying to live their life A-politically but slowly being s**ked back in due to reasons.
My main problem so far is the MC lacks personality. ML too for the most part. They're just moved about... more>> by circumstances rather than personal motivations so far. Now in the MCs defense, he is a plant and literally can't affect the world or plot in any way at the moment so is forced to be a complete observer. But there's also a lack of inner dialogue so his thoughts and personality aren't really on display either.
Maybe this will get better though once the MC regains some autonomy.
So for now, it's a hopeful 4 stars, but really it's a 3.5. <<less

I really like this novel because it's very chill and doesn't stress me out with tragic/ ridiculous drama stuff. I feel like it's a pity that the novel could be more. Maybe plot holes can be filled in, but I don't mind bc it's relaxing and cool concept. It's also very cute.

It's cute but weird and as soon as the novelty of the MC being a plant wears off, there's not any other truly interesting plot point to keep the momentum going.

I liked it!

It was a great read!

It was a fun, fluffy story that touched my heartstrings and at the same time, many scenes wretched my heart as well.

... more>> A sweet fluffy yet melancholic novel, it made my heart ache with sweetness and pain.

Loved the storyline!

Loved the characters, be it the protagonists such as the MC Hai'an and the ML Auguste, Carl and Lydney, Jamie, Colin and Corson, Palantine and Uncle Ye, Leston and XiaXia, Alia and Red Shield the primitive armored mecha, or the antagonists like Dean & Nightmare another primitive armoured mecha...

Others such as Cessie, Pier the Purple Fatty primitive armoured mecha, Mian and Pace the Android Robot, Tanamo and Bena, Queltan and YanYan, Winchester or the broken robots on the Tomb Star - these mentioned characters made a significant impression on me. I really both loved and hated what they underwent or why they did what the did, especially when it comes to the characters who were seemingly on the negative side (for e.g. Dean and Cessie).

Even the dead ones, that is Jaime's wife Cedar and Dean's wife Abel made my heart hurt for them.

Anyways, to sum up, I loved this novel. The author did a lovely work. Thank you, dear author @Ācí Gūniáng for your hard work. A special thanks to the translator-sama, MTL and Proofreaders Draconis, LoveManga and Addis @Exiled Rebels Scanlations for their hard work from picking this project to sharing it with us readers selflessly! Thank you @ExR team. Hats off! Take a bow!

As much as it was a novel filled with fluff, love for family and friendship etc, there was also the tragic and angsty elements.

Nevertheless, this novel was such a good read that I'm glad I didn't let the tragic heart-wrenching angsty elements deter me from completing it. The novel was very worth the read.

Don't be discouraged by some of the reviews. Although it may seem a bit fast-paced and packed tightly with simultaneous actions and political drama, but I agree 💯 with what another reviewer @Brownssi said. In fact, I second him/her.

I was also intrigued by the fresh (although a bit weird) premise of the dragon and plant pairing. It was a thrilling yet satisfying read at the end of the day. So I'm happy!

Just give a try for yourself before judging it like or based on others' reviews.

Anyways, I recommend it.

Wishing everyone a Happy Reading! <<less

This is such a great novel, so glad I found it. Very original, thought provoking plot, all the characters are so interesting and unique. The interactions between MC and ML are lovely. The side characters are so well developed and integrated into the story. It was interesting following the unwinding of the plot, learning about everyone's back story and the truth of the past.

Would definitely recommend!

First off, there is no paedophilia in this novel.

I really enjoyed this novel and I don't get those who are stuck on this point. Hai'an's age is that of an adult all the way through the novel, but his image doesn't always match.

It is not all fluffy romance and sweetness, there is tragedy, comedy and action too.

Lots of characters, planets and also retrospective arcs.

Worth reading to the end and taking note of what is actually written about Hai'an's development, so as not to misunderstand the story.

This is a really adorable story. I love the recurring theme of Auguste having a plant fetish and...

Spoiler

how cute it was that other crew mates fell in love with plants as well and made them human. It's quite a weird occurrence for sure, but JianJian, XiaXia, and YanYan are so cute and funny.

[collapse]

I will admit, that at some points I was totally lost with what was happening. I'm not sure if it was the writing, or the translation, but there were certain points where I was really lost. BUT, the cute fluff between Auguste and JianJian definitely helped move the story along. Additionally, the side characters definitely were not just there for decoration. Each side character was incredibly unique and filled with personality which made the story have a lot more depth. The crew interactions are one of the highlights of this story.

As for the side stories, the story of Palatine and Uncle Ye, and Dean and Abel, almost made me cry. Reading about what Palatine endured at the hands of his own father just really tore at my heart. As for Dean...

Spoiler

I know that Dean was a morally grey character, but I am a little upset that he and Abel are the only ones who didn't get a second chance together. Instead, Dean simple died after embracing Abel one last time. I understand that in order to come back to life with the Moonlight flower, a person could not have any blood on their hands, but Abel only killed someone in self defense while he and Dean were literally being r*ped and beaten to death. This part of the story was just really tragic, because Abel was totally innocent, but he couldn't come back to life because of that one thing. I would say that this is my primary complaint about the story. It just seemed really unfair since everyone else pretty much got their happy ending.

[collapse]

My final little complaint is Hai'an's name... It was explained why Auguste gave him the name JianJian (which means 'b*tchy'), but it was really strange that even after Auguste learned Hai'an's real name, he still continued calling him JianJian. There were even other characters who were really startled when human Hai'an was introduced with the name JianJian (I mean imagine meeting someone and learning their name was 'b*tch').

Overall, these are really minor complaints and the story itself is really fun and fluffy to read. The interstellar war didn't cause too much angst, but it made the story interesting so that the fluff didn't become too dull. I like that Auguste's crew, who all started out being wanderers with no home on the ship, were finally able to find happiness and a home. Also, I LOVE that all the crew stayed with each other at the end. I always disliked found family stories where, at the end of the adventure, they all go their separate ways. I am so happy that didn't happen in this story. They all settled in the same area and lived as friends and neighbors and it made me so so happy.

P.S. In case anyone is wondering when Hai'an turns into a human...

Spoiler

It happens around chapter 52/53! But he starts out miniature size, then toddler size, and finally teen/adult sized. He does grow really fast, so he doesn't stay small for too long. He also very quickly clarifies to everyone that he is over 50 years old and not actually a kid.

Love how the story is going so far. The descriptions of sites in the novel were quite good since I could imagine how it would have looked like. Liked the ad of shampoo for hair btw.

when one of the side character (a plant too) is more knowledgeable in yellow things LOL then he teach MC via chat group

I liked it when ML raising MC. It's a funny and fluffy relationship. Then we got a bit action where MC, ML, and ML's crew fight together.

I cried a bit because the "fake" cannon fodders and the big cannon fodder have sad backstory. Some of the cannon fodders only get sad end too. crying

This is truly a wholesome story and I thank Exiled Rebels Scanlations team who brought this novel so many readers like me can read it!!! <<less

It's an okay read.

some parts are kinda dodgy, some plot holes, but overall really cute and wholesome?? Also just a lil bit dark. And there's a lot of cps too but they're all pretty cute and not overbearing, everyone are just so fluffyyy~~

Spoiler

I didn't cry a lot but, BUT, DEAN.. OH MY GOD?? First you will hate him so much, then pity him, then you will hate him again, then the backstory will unfold and you'll cry so much for this guy. Also the other villain is really tragic too. Most of the villains's endings are heartbreaking, you can't help but sympathise with them.

but of course the best boi in the whole novel is still Nightmare, no cap.

I usually try my best to hold on to the very bitter end even if it's a shoddy plot, but I honestly lost all rationale with this one. Interesting premise- c'mon it's an ELF & A DRAGON. After reading Little Mushroom, all species are the same in my distorted mind. Too bad this story was too mediocre for me to even finish. I did appreciate the bit of spiciness it had, but my distaste for the plot overpowered the rather few positives it held.

I love the story and would recommend it!

This story is set in a futuristic/outer space setting with comedy, a splash of sadness, aliens/species, different planets, and give good "screen time" for the sidecouples. The setting is also happening through a political conflict/rebels/terrorism as already hinted in the tag "cosmic wars" and the description "retiring due to political conflitc" (and are often the theme for the tags: action, mecha, sci-fi, and outer space), but other than that it is pretty "light".

The storyplot is good with a hint of mystery, science, magic... more>> and sweetness. This story doesn't go too much into the "pa pa pa" scences, just for a warning if that's what you want to read.

It has some time/plot jumps that would had been suited with a visual marker like bigger space between the paragraphs or ~°~°~°~°~ line to indicate that the plot "scene" are changing, but other than that it was good.

The characters are memorable and each has different personalities.

I don't usually write a review, but I hope it wasn't terrible... <<less

I really wanted to like this. The premise was so interesting, I mean a dragon falling in love with a sentient plant? Who wouldn't want to read that! The chapters before a certain important event happed to the MC were great. Full of fluff and comedy with just a little drama sprinkled in. But after that, like other reviewers have said, it just fell flat. Suddenly politics were involved, the romance didn't seem to be the main focus anymore, and the tone went all over the place. For example:

At one point they went on a mini vacation on this planet. One second the ML and MC are getting married, everything is great, and the atmosphere is happy, but **the next bombs start going off, rebels show up and start shooting civilians, and one of the main cast almost dies.

First of all, the pacing is getting worse each chapter. It feels like the author puts 100 chapters of plot into 20 chapters

Second, I love the plant x dragon premise. It's really cute although if the author would've given us more time to feel the characters, I feel like it could've been better.

Third, I'm giving this 3.5 just because I love carl and lydney so much (and also jianjian)

This novel really opened one's eyes about relationship and love; relationship and imprinting; relationship and family

the author was jumping so fast from scene to scene, and if you only read the translation (which is done so perfectly well by ExR) you will confused, but if you try your hands on MTL you will confused ever more, too bad I don't understand Mandarin especially the Kanji so I really missed the nuanced of the author's way to tell the story.

Overall I will give 5 stars for effort and entertainment you brought... more>> to our boring life.

Jianjian's life is so exciting with Auguste as his life-partner. <<less
