Personally for me this novel is good as it is one of my favorite ongoing novel. I like the MC, Jiang Chen, although he's a little bit arrogant as he is a reincarnated son of Heavenly emperor. He is not mindlessly killing people who offended him as long as they didn't touch his bottom line (which is his father). Although I think this novel is going to the harem route, I still like it as the MC is not a s*x fiend and the plot is quite good.

The MC itself is quite OP so if you like OP character you need to give it a try. Plot armor is definitely there but not as thick as other novel so its quite enjoyable. <<less

SoTR is one of the few novels which I have followed daily for more than 3 years without ever stopping or dropping. This novel can sometimes be very repetitive, but I still love it, especially Jiang Chen and his old man harem. The last 100 chapters felt kinda rushed to me, but It's overall one of the better novels that I've read. Nothing on the level of ISSTH and Coiling Dragon, but still a good read. I give it 5 starts, because it's much better than many novels that have above 4 stars average ratings.

Pros:

• Reasonably OP reincarnated MC with a strong background story from his previous life
• It's harem without the girls being in focus, so it's not very offensive
• Doesn't have Chinese nationalism, or Xenophobia like many other novels that I've read.
• High quality translation
• Predictable release schedule

Cons:

• A lot of filler, such as irrelevant characters fighting with each other, talking with each other etc.
• Repetition of certain major plot elements, including, but not limited to "JC goes to new place > JC acts like the biggest genius in existence > disaster strikes > Repeat"
• Dan Fei (seriously she is the worst)

Pretty good book. The TL/Editing is also quite good. Slight tendency to use words outside of the education level of the target audience.

Right now this is currently the only book I'm actively following with my busy schedule.

This is like TDG that always update. The MC is reincarnated with his past life knowledge. He uses his knowledge to overcome challenges.

Storywise: Good plot with many fillers but compensated by fast releases of our beautiful goddess etvo

Character development: When characters are going to introduce in the novel, they are focused but somewhat later on in the story becomes background character.

I absolutely love this novel!

Old man harem, and what might as well be pokemon instead of legions of women and screaming fans. Of course there are the obligatory young masters in this novel but mostly is angry old men having it out for him. He just lets off the people who kidnapped his mom, humiliated his father and threw out his brother. And he never once complains to his sh*tty sister. I mean, if her "master" was good to her, she'd have been good to her whole f***ing family. Where is the so called filial piety that's supposed to happen??? Why is it only used when the MC tries to get justice to protect sh*tty characters.

And maybe if the people instead felt real regret and stuff it wouldn't be a problem, but they don't do that either and try to act like that villainous woman was somehow good. And the MC even gives them priceless gifts.

It gives absolutely no resolve to the negative feelings the author gave us for so long. Over 1000 chapters of a single negative event and instead just feels empty. If, instead, it was something like the husband not willing to leave his family clan and them trying to keep them apart to protect her or something, I'd understand.

But to let go such cruel and evil people and act like they did nothing wrong???

This novel, not only does it stretch things out so long, not only does it have too many side plots that take away from the story, but then it adds way too many serious events that take too long and don't have a satisfying conclusion.

And sometimes, the villains have really dumb motivations.. and not the dumb "I'm a bla bla bla person who randomly attacks people, die and then my family tries to avenge me" dumb...

Instead, there is this guy from a dragon sect who expects our MC to just give up his PRICELESS dragon/friend... for some reason and decides that our MC is life and death enemies with him.

And lets not forget "status"... when our MC lacks status, everyone tries to bully him for it. But when he gets status... it's not really much better.

Honestly, I regret reading this series. It just leaves a really bad taste.

It has every flaw of other Chinese web novels, but it has even more because of how dumb (even by dumb enemy standards) some enemies are, and how little satisfaction it gives for punishing evil and horrible things done (which is pretty much the only good point of these novels and why they are even liked)....

And don't misunderstand and think that these are the only flaws... it's just that every other review seems to explain every other flaw.

Well for 3yrs I always reading wuxia novel day till night and this january sad to say my doctor wont let me read anymore novels because all those time in reading novels for 3yrs nonstop my eyes is having a problem now. High Quality.

If you looking for a good novel with an excellent translation team. Look no further. Good fleshed out characters, and immense and immersive world.

As of this review Jiang Chen the main character has really hit his stride as cultivate. Side characters still have a place in the novel, which is a refreshing change to most novels that drop side characters 10-15 chapters later. Enemies aren't so dumb that you feel sorry for them because the MC is picking on the mentally handicapped.

MC, who can't cultivate, reincarnated into another boy's body and starts his cultivation. Using all his knowledge from his past life, the MC trains in powerful martial arts, have awesome pill recipe, etc. It's quite predictable if you read many of this type of novels; the MC will never lose, and will be at the top of his peers. I personally like this types of novels thus a five star rating and even though you might know that the MC will win or whatever, I think SOTR does a good... more>> job on the process (and the build up) of how exactly the MC will win and etc. <<less

I have been reading SoTR for quite some while, so here are basically the pros and cons of the story (in my opinion) :

Pros:
- Face-slapping on some young masters/ladies. Who doesn't love good face-slapping for people who deserved to be slapped
- Huang-er, she's just basically the warm oasis of the story, and I like how she's not really a damsel in distress type despite her difficulties (which I won't say)
- Some characters who actually comes back to the story instead of being an one-arc type character that is ditched to the side further into the story
- Jiang Chen (the MC) has some oddly good affinity with old men, and who doesn't like elderly harems? (not really harems, but almost...)

Cons:
- Gets repetitive. While this is true for most wuxia/xianxia novels (cause of the young master/lady trope with the "I'm going to eliminate you now cause you were in my way even though you really are not, but then you stopped my attempt so I'm actually going to eliminate you now"), the most frustrating thing is how Jiang Chen views his opponent with"how I can lose to these plebs" kind of feelings, only to re-confirm himself with the fact that he had less time/resources compared to the golden spoons. This happening once or twice is acceptable, but happening almost so many times becomes a bit of a "ugh, he's also a diva" feeling.
- The story does become more and more bleak over time (i.e., Jiang Chen encounters a problem, solves it, only to have a even bigger problem to solve later on). Sometimes the amount of bad things happening to Jiang Chen seems too unnatural/too much.

I love Truck-Kun type novels. Although I'm still not quite sure how he died, I do know he reincarnated with memories intact. In his previous life I would label him a sage born to a renowned... powerful man. However despite all his knowledge... this sage could not cultivate. Now he is reborn as Jiang Chen and he can finally put that super knowledge to good use.

I... I dont know what to say... I can't continue reading this novel, thats how it feel now. It started good, very intressting start. And then along the journey it started become more and more tedious to read. The novel lost something. It feels more like I am forcing myself to read it eventually... No novels should be like that... Starts off well... but then right around the initial chapters a b**ch has a problem with the MC, argues and starts plotting to kill him cuz she's uptight. And then what follows is plot upon plots, endless schemes to kill each other. Ironically everytime the MC has a chance to kill her, he needs to talk and show off until someone else shows up and she escapes. And then follows more plotting and scheming. Expected better from the author frankly.

Every scuffle ends up the same way: MC gets challenged, tr*sh talk, MC challenges the opponent with a pill competition, more tr*sh talk and they even lay bets, MC swears heaven oath and asks the opponent to do so which the latter refuses to, more tr*sh talk and then pill competition is stretched out when you already know who's the winner, win the battle and back to TALKING AGAIN!! At this point I just read the title of the chapter to know whats going on. If you like drama then this is for you. <<less

The story started off great, but after chapter 90 or so, it started going downhill, and has only become worse. I still like the MC, but there has not been any true tension since his kingdom's internal conflicts. Conflicts after the first conflict seemed to have been randomly added for no reason. SOT has disappointment me, because I had initially given it a five star rating, but it dramatically dropped to a two star, which I do not do often.

This novel started strong with the usual cliché of knowledgeable MC taking over tr*sh guy. Nothing new but the premise of MC being a son of Celestial Emperor whose court was invaded sounded fun.

A very fun story with all the same cliches of a Chinese Novel. However, the character interactions are VERY VERY VERY rushed and just don't seem realistic.
For example, The action scenes and everything else are well written, so it makes it seem like a different author is writing the dialogues, and that he isn't very good. Otherwise a good read.

I used to love this one and waited for the chapter released daily but somehow I get angry on how the cliffhanger ends every chapter and tends to have the battles with no ending. Maybe I get pissed off with the MC cant manage to kill the bit*h right away. Too many people always appear to extend the battle.

I like some parts of this novel but actually the overall story and plot is him slapping lesser people but he was already rich/powerfull/knowledgable but he just couldnt cultivate. The conclusion is that nothing changes story wise if he was his dad from first life
