While the novel may appear to be a bit cliche in the start it gets progressively better later on till the plot twists are thrilling enough to keep you hanging on for dear life.

There is a reason that this novel is regarded as one of the all time greatest webnovels ever to be written in Chinese and that reason becomes clear only after around a hundred chapters or so.

Still it's a pity that the translations have dropped suddenly and I hope that someone will pick this up and give it... more>> the right place that it deserves <<less

Author has the oddest fetish... Sorry, but I'm not interested in reading A Series of Unfortunate Events for this Unfortunate MC. I'm also not interested in how amazing the rival characters are in having super cheats and harems numbering in the hundreds. Patience? He'll get everything going his way by the end? Bah. I read 1000 chapters and still the MC is inferior in all levels to his rivals. I thought a large harem for MC was a bit much, but now I realize it sucks more when someone else... more>> has a bigger harem...

Spoiler

You know this goes too far when we get a step by step plot of how Yang f*cking An gets his way and includes a damned island of Elves into his harem. I'm sorry, I swear he wasn't the Mf*ckingC!!!

[collapse]

I dunno what the other reviews are talking about. If this spineless MC has the guts to even touch a girl sexually, then maybe I'd be more interested. His 'self respect' is pretty much 90% of the reason why unfortunate events happen to him. It isn't even because the author is bad at writing. He actually purposefully writes this kind of character since he even acknowledges these faults happening due to MC being too much of a prude.

Sure, it has s*x. But most of that is because the other characters have more courage in pushing down the MC. That or the cheat octopus/glasses arrive and push the MC into actually having a relationship...

As for the other 10% of his unfortunate life, it's because author is a damned sadist. <<less

Caught up to the translation (chapter 46) - I don't read MTL's they're always really bad.

This novel was pretty good actually, as far as apocalypse novels go they tend to all be the same but this one has an interesting twist in that the MC summons from fictional worlds- for example he summons Gaara from Naruto at one point but doesn't have enough spirit energy to actually summon the real one, so all he does is summon a clone with less than 1% of the actual ability of Gaara. The... more>> thing is though, the world of the novel is a world where all of our own fiction doesn't exist (or should I say, it exists in a fictional multiverse where all of our fiction, including this novel, exists and can interact) so no one knows that Gaara is a fictional anime character- they just think he's some otherworldly expert that controls sand.

I really like this premise and it's a real shame it got dropped so quickly (but it is GravityTales who were responsible for translating, and they drop /everything/ around 40-60 chapters in so it's to be expected really.)

I'd like to see someone pick this one up again, I'd like to see where it goes honestly. Guess I can only do what everyone else is doing and wait for google to get their translation AI to translate Chinese properly then come back in 5-10 years and read the MTL'd raws. <<less
