Syltina was originally a Duke’s daughter.

Sentenced to exile two years ago, she crossed over to the neighboring country and entered its Guild. The current Syltina, who became strong to the extent that even foreign countries knew her name, was summoned by the country which exiled her.

In order to purify the land defiled by monsters, Syltina gets stuck in a journey with a partner who constantly has zero motivation, the girl from the different world who drove her into banishment, the First Prince who was her former fiance, her former brother who is a Knight and a pointlessly shy magician.

This is the story of Syltina slicing off enemies, playing the part of a Straight Man (tsukkomi) and sometimes, the Fool (boke) to her companions.

I absolutely love this, a shame no translator has picked this up for a year now.

Don't let the synopsis fool you. It would be easy to imagine that this is turns into a slapstick comedy of sorts, but that couldn't be further from the truth. I wouldn't call this a dark story but it certainly is in the dark grey area, not a happy world. This is a revenge & conspiracy story about strong MC & her companions and the author really tries to make you hate the bad guys... more>> and makes it pretty easy. If there's anything to complain about, it'd be that the bad guys are made out to be so s*upid and powerless it's unreal, no way such people could lead a country.

This is a more serious version of what would happen with your generic otome game transmigration novel where a girl gets sent from peaceful modern day Japan to a fantasy world and tries to live it according to the script of the "game" without realizing it's her current reality.

I like that the story doesn't try to force modern-day values and Japanese culture like so many other novels (The naive transmigrated girl is in charge of these views). There are signs of good character development for a couple of characters, but 20 chapters is too few to say more.

I see many people complaining that the author pulls the victim card with the MC way too much, but I don't think that's true. If everyone I loved, lived for and protected suddenly betrayed me for crimes I didn't commit, without any proof, and almost killed me as a result, all for some random otherworldly girl who mysteriously has everyone blindly wrapped around her little finger, I certainly wouldn't be able to forgive them after two years. Probably never, even if they apologize. And that's what I like about the MC, she's very hurt and traumatized and won't let go of past bad deeds too easily. I hate it when characters forget or forgive cheating, betrayal or other bad things way too easily with a smile and apology from a pretty face. <<less

I always love a good revenge story too bad this isn't a very good revenge story. It has similar problems to katahane no riku in that they are confusing angst for a strong character. Don't get me wrong she has every right to be pissed off but everyone in terms of character is a bit.. Well lets say lacking. I've seen many people praising the character for not being so weak or being given ability's like other novel protagonist. Just because she's not as bad doesn't mean she's a... more>> good well developed character. You are rewarding mediocrity because your so used to sh*t that's not a good thing if you are willing to put up with being treated to bland character after bland character have some ambitions god dammit. This is broad complaint but I feel the villains are cartoonistly evil in order to make the hero cool so that we root for her. I find it hard to believe that only one single person cared about the fate of a country and that she gets shunned for it. I feel many authors forget that for every dark there is light. Have you ever met someone who's pure evil? No? Because its impossible you can have highly evil people like Joseph Stalin but nobody is just pure evil make these villains human. I will give it credit though out of all the novels I wrote a review for this is the best (although that's not saying much since most of the novels I reviewed are shit)

Spoiler

It feels so edgy like shadow the hedgehog levels of unnecessary edge. The best example of this is when a character kills a child to emphasize how cold they can be.

Unreadable for me. I think this is the worst the Noble Villainess genre has to offer. The female lead's original predicament and Mary Sue level is too damn high, it is just too damn high. It is almost too much for a parody, but it is being played straight here. This is Chunni-est Mary Sue-est story I ever encountered.

The premise of the plot as presented in the first few chapters is like this:

The female lead is the usual daughter of the duke whose fiancee is the crown prince. Then a... more>> Japanese beauty transmigrates and she is the Saintess that is needed to save the country. Eventually everyone falls in love with her. The fiancee, both brothers, her attendant, the teachers, the king and so on. The Saintess is actually manipulative and malicious and sets up our female lead and accuses her of various crimes and everyone believe the Saintess without requiring proof and condemn the female lead. Up to here, this is the basic trope. Silly, but common. This story however takes it up to 11, and then 12 and then 200.

First of all, I don't how, but in a year the Saintess spends so much money the country goes bankrupt. How ? Why would she have the authority ? What could she possibly be buying ? I don't know. Meanwhile, the only person who was keeping things together, is the female lead, from her role as the president of the student council. THE PRESIDENT OF THE STUDENT COUNCIL was somehow managing the state. To such a degree that when she is exiled, both the finance minister and the head knight quit. A 17 (?) year old is removed from the STUDENT COUNCIL of some academy so the head of the military and the finance ministry quit too, apparently because they can see no future possible without her. What kind of nonsense is this ? By the way, the Prime Minister who is her actual father, doesn't quit in protest. The irony is we are told straight up, maybe in the next chapter, that the FL is accused of stealing money from the state, but that accusation doesn't make sense, because she is just a member of the STUDENT COUNCIL and has no authority to misappropriate funds. No sh*t Sherlock, but then this contradicts the part about how busy she was in actually keeping everything together and the whole major plot point that her being exiled caused the ruin of the country.

The ridiculousness doesn't end here though. The author decided that for our FL to truly be abandoned, every single person in the whole country needs to be proven as traitorous and snub the FL so that later she can take revenge against everyone while being righteous and just. To achieve this idiotic goal the author does the following. Our FL is exiled, but not only is she exiled, everyone are commanded to ignore her. So presumably she has to walk to the neighboring country and I'm supposed to believe, because this is how it is actually presented, that she went person by person in the country to ask for some water or food or even permission to hide under the eaves of their household from the rain (Who asks for permission for that ? Presumably it was raining and everyone was already inside and then she would go to the door and knock to ask for permission. Not to enter, but to stand outside...? Who does that ? Why?). To think this "story" actually condemns every single person in the country is just... What about people who just never heard of her and were busy in their fields or place of work because the country was already on the brink of ruin? What about the children ? Not that it even makes sense no one would help her because the most likely scenario is that 80% of the population doesn't know who she is and surely can't recognize her and hasn't heard of her punishment and therefore there is no reason for them to ignore her, unless there was like a company of knights following behind her and enforcing the decree, but then, who can blame a random peasant for not challenging the knights? I will stop this line of thinking here.

The next dumb thing is that she survives, and after two years, TWO YEARS, she turns from a normal noble lady to the strongest person in the whole country. So strong in fact, we are told she could basically defeat the whole army by herself. BY HERSELF. So after she leaves the country, she actually better than whole country COMBINED.

So most of the actual story is, I assume, about her revenge, only it is too damn dumb. Just go and kill the 10 people who annoyed you the most get on with your damn life, no need to ruin the whole country, salt the earth and burn the seas. If one was using common sense, one would assume the Saintess uses some charm magic or something similar, but that would only mean the whole revenge thing is even dumber so I don't know if it applies here.

By the way, the translation for this is pretty good. Still, don't read it. <<less

It's another story with the setting inside of otome game where the supposed heroine is actually the villainess and the villainess is actually the heroine. The "heroine" in the story is the so called Akari who came from another world and later becomes a saintess while the "villainess" is our MC, Syltina.

Akari is a Mary Sue who has a "heroine syndrome". She expected the story in the otome game world was revolved around her. So she decided to create the "villainess" (MC) and accused her of something that she actually... more>> didn't do and made her exiled from the kingdom. And that's the beginning of MC's journey to get revenge against people who betrayed her.

The revenge is so satisfying. I love how the peoples who betrayed her get what they deserve in the end especially Akari who started it all.

I'm just a bit puzzled about something:

Spoiler

MC's father actually never betrayed her and always on her side since the beginning but why MC was still so cold to him?

[collapse]

And the "romance" tag in this novel is so misleading. MC and ML are barely have any contact with each other thorough the story. They have separate mission and don't meet until the end of the story. And even after they meet, there is no so called romantic gesture between them. So don't expect any romance in this story. <<less

This is a disappointment.

I’m going to be honest, the beginning was... seducing. It was an amazing start, very emotional. But it steadily got worse as the chapters went by, it started feeling edgy and cringey. The middle edgy section was the worst of it as it took up most of the chapters, but worse than that is the ending. We keep getting reminded of this “plan” that was in the making for years and yet it was concluded at light-speed. There was barely any content on what should’ve been the... more>> most satisfying ending. If the ending was written as amazing as the beginning, this would’ve been a 4*, but it wasn’t worth the journey. <<less

This is dumb. MCs life is ruined, but the best that she dishes out is a bit of sarcastic statements and feels good about it as if she just won the war... Its so f*cking lame, its like if some1 broke your arms and legs and you smiled at them saying "is that the best you can do?". yeah cool for 1 seconds sure, but after/before? nada

An amazing story that I would love to see be continued, but it seems the author made it a nightmare to translate and doesn't quite hit the mark with the story. Beautiful translation though, also the take on realism and such is very well done allowing for a great story and just generally being one of my favorites.

I do have a low bar when it comes to stories though, so don't take it to heart and read a few chapters first.

- for some damn reason the story just does not... more>> really have that click you know, where you know you actually see it as a fantastic story and not just a decent one. I really enjoy the story, but I feel like it leaves little to the imagination, the style is wonky, and it just isn't a writing style I can enjoy. A little add on would be the main cast mostly being the guild the MC is in has a great cast of characters with a lot of potential and are very interesting, other than that most others are just bland "Oh we were wrong, please help us" type characters that aren't very thought out or are intentionally just bland a**holes who only apologize when it benefits them, then we got the arrogant type who won't budge on their beliefs I.E., Akira's followers that are just annoying and will probably be more annoying in the future until the kingdom meets a unfortunate end*probably*.

The rest of the story pretty much covers the characters that aren't he mains being a little too cardboard, but it gets tiresome, most specifically with the MC having way too many "I'm the victim" monologues and you start to think "I get it, you've done this so many times now that I'm starting to actually lose all of my sympathy for you."

The main character is not very edgy like some people say, she just moves in a realistic type of way that will cause the least amount of trouble and treating people like they treat (ed) her making the story more unique in a sense.

TL;DR: All in all, A story meant for certain people that I personally enjoy, but still being a little weird to read that I would recommend trying out until it just stops being fun since the problems start to prick at you which in turn burns you out after only a few chapters, so you'll end coming back later thinking why you stopped reading such a good story then you'll see all the little problems add up into a huge and tiring problem giving you the answer <<less

NEED MORE CHAPTER!!!!!

I was engrossed in reading without knowing I was in the last latest chapter. I want more????.

MC character is so damn cool. I pity the little bro but he and everyone brought them their own fall. Betraying your family for a girl. Exile her then ask her back. Making her help them when they never help her when she was exile. I was god damn mad. Good thing she refuse. I thought Al was someone who has a crush on her guess I'm wrong jin is the one.... more>> Looking forward for jin and MC moment <<less

Seems ok. I love the premise and such but I'm putting it on hold atm since I'm not sure how it'll develop in the 63 chapters there are, but theres not a whole lot translated as of yet. My main gripe so far, is that it seems like she'll eventually, however begrudgingly, end up having to make up with the people that shunned her. Thats a pretty big no no for me unless the beginning is a very temporary thing and these schmucks get thrown under the bus hard eventually.

This is the stark reality of what would actually happen if an average girl from the 21st century enterred an otome game. Most people know the difference between good and evil, but struggle to actually be good compared to how easily it comes to a protagonist in a story.

This story isn't bad, this story basically answers: what happens after the ending of an otome game that has a poorly written generic plot filled with plotholes. (Basically accusations that don't make sense, just to create a villain)

I also like how every puzzlepiece is slowly put in place, so the reader slowly learns the truth.

The story itself is quite tame though and mainly focusses on the drama. Don't read this expecting a lot of high tension action sequences.

Honestly, wait for the translator to clean this mess into something readable.

I was enjoying it fairly well up until the point where I decided in all my wisdom to read the rest using MTL. I started to regret my life choices five chapters in MTL and realized that the translators were doing stellar jobs getting that mess into a semblance of readable story.

I'm giving a 5 star review just for the fact that the translator was able to make something out of this story.

I first added this to my reading list a few years back when it had gone up to chapter 4. What was shown there was quite promising. Well, what's left here now makes me realize that it would have been much better off ended there, with the MC refusing the quest instead of accepting it. There's not that much you can do with the premise, you know? Either MC eventually 'forgives' everyone or they reject the commission and would have been better off just leaving the country to rot.

Instead what... more>> we have is, rather than a story, just a series of chapters where people read out exposition to others or preach things to others. Then there's the reveal that
Spoiler

much of this was part of a plan put in place by the MC and her friends in the first place, completely destroying the premise of the story.

[collapse]
There's lots of references to nebulous them for extra confusion and edginess.

No wonder the original translator dropped it at this point. Even as I was disappointed, I thought I could keep powering through the story, but right now I can't even put in the effort to click on a few buttons to get to the next chapter for this. <<less

When I began reading this, the beginning was really mesmerizing and interesting but by the time I got to the part where they head out and the MC is protecting the 'saint' for commission, I got bored of it. I guess the plot just didn't go as I was expecting and instead took a typical turn for a japanese novel.

Disappointed. Honestly such interesting premise was just tr*shed. I don't mind the revenge aspects but I want better characterization and plot progress. Also the author uses the victim card too much.

Geez. If only this had a bit of better writing then I would have been happier.

Yay!! I finally found a headstrong vindictive vengeful heroine... was what I previously thought and yes that I did. But reading this was overly taxing as every chapter, there is someone/s being showered with her piled up feelings of being rejected and exiled after all she did for them.

. so I dropped it.

Great translation though. Just that the story is overly using the "abandoned heroine"trope and it was just tiring to read. There was no dynamism. Though I felt the need to just flip the the end (as basically the... more>> chapters were all the same) and I got the gist that she (along with her guild and some other country) will be destroying the country that outcasted her, which really did not seem logical to me (I get it that people refused you, but you did not ask all the citizens of that country to help you. You just asked a few of them. Why would you help in crushing other people as a heroine in a story?!!!) <<less

Very interesting novel. This is the kind of sane revenge novel, we have been wanting for years but sadly never got to read till now. It's so satisfying when she lays into those who harmed and betrayed her without retreating even one step or pulling her punches. This is so raw, so human that it is absolutely believable and it draws you in. Sadly, I don't know Japanese and machine translators don't work even moderately well with Japanese to English so stuck waiting for the updates to come (Thanks for... more>> all the hardwork TL! Really appreciate it!! :)) Can anyone give me spoilers on this story? I want to know what happens at the end? Especially to all those who betrayed her? I also want to know whether she was able to restore herself and live well. It would be a waste for such a good girl to lose her own personality due to the psychos. <<less

It has a high potential, but it's hard to tell how good this novel actually is with such a little amount of translated chapters... So far so good, but it's still early to say anything regarding it – basically, nothing in particular (besides the premise) has happened yet.
