I love female MCs. But reading the description for this kind of made me back off, despite numerous good reviews. I thought, maybe I haven't read enough Xianxia to appreciate the satire/comedy. Maybe I've leveled up or something but when I finally gave this a shot, I blitzed through it and had a great time.

The description of this novel is correct, however the actual feeling I get when I read is a little different. (As in, I completely did not expect the story to be the way it is... more>> given the description.) While it does make a parody of some common Xianxia tropes, overall, it gets serious when it needs to and the characters react in fairly believable way. If you've been pretty much isolated for 16, 000 years w/o much contact to literally anyone but cultivating, you'd lose most of your common sense, especially regarding the opposite s*x. Also considering that the MC came from our modern world, you would expect her to have a completely different moral compass than most people in the Xianxia world.

The way the female MC acts, does remind me a little bit with Jianghu's Road is Curved. Both has that sense of moral justice that is seen as foolishness and naivete in their respective worlds. Even the way the story goes...
Spoiler

How the story has a slight twist causing a change in the their perspective. I mean, Zhu Yao almost decided to destroy the world after someone's death. And she was meant to save it.

[collapse]

The length of each chapter is quite long and it covers quite a bit. I personally felt that the pace was alright, but seeing as our main MC has gone through so much just within 174 chapters really makes me wonder what else could be revealed for the next 236 chapters. I'm looking forward to where the story will bring us next and can't wait for more interactions between Yu Yan and Zhu Yao. It's an enjoyable read with bits of comedy gold spread out like some reggiano parmesan on a good pizza. Translation is also done well! <<less

What can I say? Everything that needs to be said about this novel is already said.

I'll just add a little bit more. Some parts of the story is very emotional.... more>>
Spoiler

A girl who protected the world with her life, but was betrayed by that very world, having only the MC by her side; a person who is meant to be a patch to a world near destruction, but gained human emotions along the way; and most of the dialog between the MC and the world spirit near the end of the novel really moved me.

Though, at the end of each part, there's always a bit of light-hearted comedy to balance it out. <<less

Adorable QT-ish Novel. The FL is a game designer who gets tossed into a game world to fix the bugs in the code

But the bugs keep defeating her so she is reincarnated into sillier and sillier beings (She isn’t always a human which makes the story even funnier)

The long suffering ML must find her every time she reincarnates

This novel is a parody of reincarnation novels and transmigration novels and is very fun as long as you don’t take it too seriously

Yes, it is worth your time.

The story is well written. It is one of those novels that needs to be read all the way to the end to really understand the true essence of the story.

The world building is nice and the story is pretty consistent. It's pretty apparent that the author clearly planned out the story outline before writing the actual story.

... more>> All the major events in the story are reasonable and the story has a path it wants to tread on.

From the plot's perspective, it's really well constructed. The reason why I'm saying this is because there are too many Chinese web novels that go too long and lose the original premise of the story.

But this novel does not. The author does not make stuff up the fill up the story and that is enough reason to read this novel.

Besides that, I remember laughing a lot during the story.

Our main character is like that one friendly grandma in our neighborhood that likes to regularly stroll the street to bully little kids.

I especially like her interactions with little kids and the beasties. It's like her true petty nature comes out in front of them. Unfortunately, when she gives elderly advice to those same kids is when I dislike her the most. Sometimes, the advice that she gives are pretty... yeah. And the way she abuses those beasties is also... yeah.

Other than that, she seems like a typical gag protagonist. Gag is my favorite genre. And she takes her morals very seriously. She can't accept people who having such tainted souls wielding such power through dishonest means. And I respect that. Such a society is bound to fall in on itself sooner or later.

Male lead is the cold tyrannical type. But as he is in this novel, he is a joke (like everyone else). And I really like that.

Spoiler

Those who were lured by the male yandere tag, the yandere is most likely her brother lol. Mate, you got played.

[collapse]

The story does have its dark moments but its main genre is comedy after all. It's lighthearted but then, not really? It's a balance between that yin energy and that yang energy you know?

You may question the messages the novel gives and the values that the M.C. has (like damn, where did so much h*mophobia come from?) but you can't deny that it is a solid piece of fiction.

It definitely deserves the high ratings, mahua and drama adaptation. <<less

The translation and the world building is great. There were quite a few characters that really made you like them. The earlier chapters are fun.

Spoiler

But overall I can’t move past my dislike for the main character. Overpowered, single minded, and cruel.
Because of her ability to be reincarnated she doesn’t value the relationships around her. She leaves behind countless people to mourn her but doesn’t care because she more or less considers them NPCs.

After creating rich characters the author discards them at an alarming rate. It bothers me that we spend time invested in these multiple cannon fodders and never know their fate.

The crux of the problem is that there is too much going on and there wasn’t a good focus towards the end. Also, why shoehorn in the bit about the roommate? There are dozens of other characters that I hoped to know the ending of but instead we get the roommate who has only show up in like 5 chapters. Very unsatisfactory wrap up.

[collapse]

It’s not a bad novel by any means but to me it wasn’t quite worth the time it took to read the almost 400 chapters.

I didn't enjoy reading this one. The humor wasn't funny, the story was laughable, the preaching was mind-numbing and the MC was horrible.

The only somewhat saving grace is the side characters, but I can't even give it points for that because they're played for laughs and nothing they do feels like it has any real significance.

All told it's just another one of the many stories on this site that are way overrated because Female MC or Yaoi.

Pretty decent comedy, but the plot became stale after the nth time MC died and was picked up by her master.

MC dies → reincarnated into something (maybe OP?) → stuff happens and she boosts x number of stages → become a god → slap some faces → die → reincarnate again. The way MC treated Sesame and Yue Ying was too sad... Poor babies. ML was strong but holy sh*t the guy has the brains of a 5 year old. I really don't know where the romance came from because... more>> it was basically MC being like "hey Master we should be together, " and after she died a few times he finally agreed??? <<less

It's alright. I don't dislike it but I had to drop it. The plot just got boring to me since I knew that she was going to keep dying in order to stop that boy so it just stopped being interesting. Also it was the same characters every time she reincarnated so there's really no excitement to meet/deal with new characters. Maybe there is new characters in the other arcs, but I don't really care at this point. I will say that it is incredibly funny though. I laughed a... more>> lot in the 70 chapters I did read. <<less

I have sooooo many mixed feelings about this novel.

But since I survived till 393 it must've been good...

Right?

... more>> THAT'S THE THINGS PEEPS.

The novel was really gooooodd, there were so many good points about this. Loved everything, literally everything but... BUT!!!!!

I'm just dissatisfied with 2 points!! And these 2 I still can't accept!!!

1: the gawd dang fluffing romance fam!!! What even happened there, IDC what other people say but oml, this novel has so much potential with the romance ah! There was a perfect villian who would fight the ML for the MC!!! I just wanted to see that lil bit of drama okay?! Like I felt there wasn't enough... Reader's chemistry... Like... As a reader I couldn't see where the development happened between the MC and ML... It just happened!!!

POINT NUMERO 2: PLOT SAMA WHAT DA FLUFF!!!!

Spoiler

YOU CAN'T JUST FLUFFING KILL REALM SPIRIT LIKE THAT OKAY!!!! wuwuwuwu my heart </3

[collapse]

Also what's up with the ending, it was seriously the most anticlimactic ending I've read in like... A week!!! But regardless!! IT WAS ANTICLIMACTIC!!!

-breaths heavily-

Anyways for the great novel and 75% of the plot please have 70 spirit points author sama!!

I never want to touch this novel ever again, not until

Spoiler

YOU BRING MY BELOVED REALM SPIRIT BACK!!!!

Started very good and funny, but then became too repetitive, the MC was suppose to be 28 years old and dragged from modern earth age into fantasy land, inside this land she lives for hundreds (thousands??) of years, even if it was fast speed simulation world, she had to LEARN and MATURE at least a little, but it doesn't seems so.

It doesn't matter how many time the MC reincarnates or revives, she is still an idiot. This is the most frustrating thing, because she did not learn anything from her... more>> past experiences.

So I then took it like a Joke Novel, a Chinese and strange version of Alice in Wonderland, but still the things get repetitive over and over, the way she talks, the way she curses, is she a Teen or 28+++ (500+s) old. these thing of unrealistic plots turns me down to keep reading.

Things just keep being dragged to fill some (unknown) chapter quota, still missing 80 chapters to finish, so I'm making my review now because: "It doesn't matter what happens in the future writing, it cant help what happened in the past writing"

Even if MC ends being She-Meng Hao.

***Edit:***

Finished the Novel... my review still stands. <<less

A MUST READ! The book literally has THRILL & THUNDER.

Has to be one of the quirkiest pieces of writing available as a translation.

Kudos to both the original author and the translator— absolutely fantastic plot and characters twists to read.

It basically has everything you would want from a good Xianxia novel.

The book gives you a slow burn but it’s worth every chapter.

I know that this novel is the typical naive cliche female transmigrate type, but I still liked it either way.

It was the first novel I read that I enjoyed.

The male lead is the typical slow-witted when it comes to love but becomes a yandare at the end. Reverse harem, over powered genius MC, cliche to the max. But I still kept reading it.

I think the dying and kept repeating the same thing over and over again but the MC still does her best, and meeting all types of different characters... more>> while caring for them in the end, made it interesting for me. It felt that it's a new thing for me.

There are a lot of fresh ideas when it comes to story telling that the author introduced that made me give this 5 star despite all the cliches. Yes, still liked it either way. <<less

I loved it!
I just finished the story in less than a week, so you can image just how hooked up I was.

The translator did an awesome job, especially when it comes to translating and explaining all the jokes and puns. The novel is just filled with those. Whenever I was reading in the subway I had to restrain myself so much from laughing - obviously I failed several times.

Although the story is very long it's not too much. With every reincarnation you basically get a new story, but in the end they're all connected to each other and it's also nice to see some side characters make a comeback.

The FL is hilarious and extremely lovable. I somewhat look up to her regarding how shameless she sometimes can be or how she can just throw away her pride. It's also really funny how she makes references or compares our world with the xianxian world.

The love story also didn't develop too fast or too slow (especially considering the length of the novel) and the MCs are just made for each other. You can see just how much they love each other.
Spoiler

For example when the FL was an old woman and the ML misunderstood, thinking that she wanted to remain in that form. Thus he simply turned himself old saying that he would accompany her.
Or when Realmspirit had the appearance of the ML in front of the FL and explained that he could only take up the appearance of the person who was the most beautiful in FL's heart.

A novel that felt refreshing when I first read it. There were many different situations the MC goes through after being reincarnated that will make you laugh and would make you wanting more. But it does get hard for me to image her original form after being reincarted many times.

I Would recommend to anyone who would want to enjoy a little laugh and some romance as well.

This is a pretty good read. It's funny, sad, serious and keeps itself interesting.

While the main character does have way too overpowered abilities, she always gets trolled and as we know by the title; she dies a lot. I wanted to rate it between 3-4 because there are some things that bugged me, but I don't think that should influence others to not read it.

It starts off pretty nice, MC wakes up in a new world and you get to see her grow stronger. She always speaks out openly and... more>> well, you don't really have your typical female oppression in this novel. So she comes off as rude, in a funny way. Then she's off on her journey to fix all of the problems in the world. Thanks to the title, we all know she will die, and she doesn't disappoint us at all. There's usually some pig teammate who will ruin her party experience every time and make her die somehow in a variety of dumb ways. That always cracked me up.

What I didn't appreciate too much was how our MC became pretty blind-sighted after she fell in love. It wasn't the primary focus of the story at all but, she basically forgot everyone else and only took care of them half-heartedly then abandoned them without regrets, which ended up biting her later on. It was just too painful to read and the MC stopped being my favorite character. She also throws out her logic like everyone else is wrong and no one refutes her. Also wondering if the author is a homophobe? The amount of jokes and telling others to change their ways were not few.
And I don't agree to child abuse, I know a lot of people still agree to "child discipline" with spanking and whatnot but that really triggered me repeatedly in this novel. Adults venting their frustrations on a defenseless child, bleh!

After saying all that, I did appreciate this novel and I think it's something people should try to at least feel out first before giving up on it. It was a good, long read and the translation is very nice. <<less

Great novel, lovely main character, I really really REALLY like the main character. For starters, it's a female MC which is very refreshing, next she acts like a normal human being when she transmigrates not like those idiot MC's that immediately start killing and stealing. The best part is she remains this innocent and lovable till the end! There are several tasteful jokes thrown here and there which improves the novel a lot as well. If I were to say what a bad part of the novel was it... more>> would be that it seemed a bit rushed and many characters get ignored towards the end except the core few characters. There was also much room for expansion on several arcs in the story but the author has his own way of doing things. Cultivation in this novel is totally irrelevant so it can mostly be ignored. <<less

A really great story! the protagonist is sometimes a little silly, but that can be very funny as well. the most important thing is that she is really a good person who doesn't scheme and doesn't need to revenge every little thing.

But I have to say, that some of her reincarnations are a bit... strange... and that "the same person picks me up every time" is just the first times so clear... after they get together it's more complicated...

In the end I recommend this story to everyone who wants a... more>> cultivation story that's a bit different. but if you like scheming protagonists or don't like a bit comedic silliness this novel isn't the right for you. <<less

So.. the MC is insanely refreshing in this novel. She is an absolute blast to read and had me in stitches far too often. The author really aced this character and made her viewpoint offbeat and weird without seeming like he is trying too hard or reducing her to ret*rd level actions. The ending is also great and the underlying story makes complete sense and I was very satisfied.

I will say that the synopsis for this isn't entirely accurate. Without spoiling too many things there IS a grand purpose to... more>> all of this, and she never really thinks that last line of " (Why do I always get picked up by the same person every time I reincarnate? Haaaa...) ". It's more like "YAY master found me again!", largely because her reincarnations aren't cut and dry repeats.

Also a few of the arcs do get a bit annoying or boring and could have probably been cut. You can only watch her rebuild her power so many times before it gets irritating, but the saving grace is that she is just as pissed about it.

And lastly there are a few loose ends or oversights. Nothing too terrible but I felt like the author forgets about a lot of characters as soon as they are out of sight, even though the MC should care about them a lot. The dandelion girls, the obviously fast handling of sesame, her female disciple with the special veins, the boy from the very beginning, and so on. Sometimes they reappear, but even than it's a quick shove off to the side a lot. To be fair though every novel introduces even more characters.

If I took any one thing from this series, it's that if I ever meet a woman with a reverse harem I should run for the hills to the other side of the world if possible. Even more so if I am a woman as well. <<less

I love this story! It's funny and the main character is great! The last two arcs were more boring than the others but since this story isn't that long, then that's okay.

Sis Yao is the best main character. She's smart in a funny way and gets trolled a lot by her master.

Spoiler

At first I was upset when the kid from her village died because I thought he was her love interest but I was wrong. I'm happy she got it on with her master! Yes, master is the best!

This novel is the best. At the beginning I was hesitant to read it, as I don’t really like novels with gaming elements, however this one incorporates it so well. The humour is not lost in translation, nearly every chapter, I am either laughing at the MC’s theatrics and side characters’ or feeling frustrated or sad, for the sake of our characters. The novel is truly a masterpiece, it’s a breath of fresh air. I really recommend it to anyone who is tired of the same cliche tranigration and reincarnation... more>> novels. <<less
