Solo Leveling

10 years ago, after “the Gate” that connected the real world with the monster world opened, some of the ordinary, everyday people received the power to hunt monsters within the Gate. They are known as “Hunters”.

However, not all Hunters are powerful. My name is Sung Jin-Woo, an E-rank Hunter. I’m someone who has to risk his life in the lowliest of catacombs, the “World’s Weakest”.

Having no skills whatsoever to display, I barely earned the required money by fighting in low-leveled catacombs… at least until I found a hidden catacomb with the hardest difficulty within the D-rank catacombs!

In the end, as I was accepting death, I suddenly received a strange power, a quest log that only I could see, a secret to leveling up that only I know about! If I trained in accordance with my quests and hunted monsters, my level would rise.

Changing from the weakest Hunter to the strongest S-rank Hunter!

I haven't read Seoul Station Necromancer so I won't be comparing it to that.

I honestly gave up on this series because of shitty tl issues and from false spoilers didn't sound so great.

One of the best things about the series is that it doesn't drag on and on. Each arc shows great growth and iirc adds a new character to the line up of main characters. MC's OPness is explained later on, and it makes sense even if it is kinda a weak reasoning - but funny, although there are... more>> plotholes to it to.

Spoiler

Chosen by Osborne just because, system goes away but some items stay for some reason, even though technically just his mana right?

[collapse]

Romance/harem is kinda subtle... really nonexistent but what is there is very refreshing.
Spoiler

Jin-woo is dense for the most part, then Chae-In is forgotten but yeah pretty sure they f*cked after first date, he even successfully went after her in the "last chapter"

[collapse]

As for villains...
Spoiler

They easily become allies because of his power and then get expanded upon or don't so much like the sovereigns - refreshing, don't feel they need all that much backstory than the synopsis provided from reclaimed memories

Overall great series, good interjection of humor, dark and gritty enough to keep tension going, and an MC you wont hate or interject yourself in, also Jesus complex done well.

EDIT: READ THE EXTRA SIDE STORIES. I have to say they don't really hold the same tension as the main story, almost take on a more slice of life/after math to the main, even some retelling from a different perspective. Yeah I found myself all smiles and some tears the whole time reading those chapters. WELL DONE SOSEOLGA-NIM <<less

The ending was a bit rushed, but it made sense. Other than that I don't have any real criticisms, I had a lot of fun with this one.

This novel's ending is the most satisfying i've ever read. I advice not to miss out on the side stories as it completes the novel.

I guess the only thing I don't liked is how short it is but this may have gone down hill if the author tried to extend it.

I got mesmerized by this novel, I dived in to fight the monsters on the brink of death while not having any real power, to slowly, step a step grow stronger/clever/responsible. I somehow along with main character have grown slightly to be more open to little act of kidness in the world.

Short novel with not a fresh but different approach to fighting and hero/person/character growth.

Spoiler

Ending was awsome although the "last" fight was only ok.

Done reading it till the end. This novel is quite short, only 200++ chapters but it's just enough. I love how the MC grows from a weed to be a "god", also his personality (most MC is too meek or dense-jerk after getting powerful). The author also remember to put in some romance on the MC.

Hope there is a serialization of this novel considering the after war part (when the time turned back) got skipped much.

one of the most likeable aspect of the novel is how real it describe the situation surrounding the MC. It's establish early on that he's different than others, his powers gained with sacrifice and not gained without price which makes it feels worthy for the MC to obtain such powers. The world building while not too good also realize its circumstances logically, the power level in every country is pretty much the same right now with growing power of the ability user starts influencing the government. Also to those who... more>> feel the MC is too OP, that's actually normal considering out of all the humans he's the only "player" (see it as all the other human user as NPC with limited ability to grow while the MC so far have no limit in his growth). All in all this novel is good for those seeking a more light with substance novel to read. <<less

The closest title/s I can relate it to would be The Legendary Moonlight Sculptor and Everyone is a Returnee. Although, it is very much more similar to the first (younger sister, poor at the start, grinding alone, etc.).

I would give this story a 3.5. The first 100 chapters are interesting, but the later seems to be a bit too boring in terms of fighting with monsters. It's a good read when you have some spare time and only want to read a few chapters. It's not exactly the kind of... more>> novel you eagerly wait for... I guess it lacks some excitement after 100 chapters. It really needs an amazing cliffhanger... <<less

Really love the story, you can feel the character grow and enjoy it. The mysteries are interesting and it seems that they will soon start being addressed a bit more seriously.

Very good so far, although the MC himself changes too quickly for my taste it is still a very fun novel. However, as of yesterday the manhwa/manga counterpart scanlator has since received cease and desist warnings for many of their scans including I Alone Level Up. Although the translator may be just on a short hiatus, prepare for the worst my fellow readers

One of the best I read so far. Manga is also amazing. The story is really satisfying with weak MC turning op. Secondary characters sometimes do fade away without trace, but the flaw is compensated with thrilling action and interesting interactions. Game element of the novel is pretty interesting, as well as the right amount of comedic relief makes the hole story more entertaining. Shout out to 25th_chestnut for great translation, can't wait for more?

Wow!! Is this the official translation?

Oh well, last time I check this novel is in negotation to be translated officially.

As for this novel it is a great novel, have a lots of hype and great story, the only problem I got was the pacing. I was expecting for more chapters but is impossible as the novel is already completed.

But all in all an excellent read!
