It’s a soap opera of mixed elements (cultivation, magic, alchemy, martial arts) without deep exploration. Its basically a comedy, a hilarious one.

Searching something funny? This one perhaps the fair choice. But for one who’s looking for action, romantic, saga, or even drama, they maybe couldn’t find it here.

Btw, the protagonist only overpowered in the end of (ridiculous) storyline, so mostly he just honestly pranks everyone around him.

This story could have been good, I don't know, but there is one major flaw in the writing and that is... the author does not show us what happened. He just tells us about it indirectly. "MC made a joke and everyone laughed" excuse me, what was the joke? Author does not tell us. "There was a problem and MC solved it" uh okay what was the problem and how did he solve? It's odd because most webnovels have the reverse problem, they tell the story in too much detail, so it becomes filler. I honestly came here for the comedy tag.

What started out as a great and funny novel was quickly ruined pass chapter 25.

I don't know why this is still plugged with Comedy. There hasn't been anything funny in it after the next 75 chapters I went through. (It is like those novels that have Hard Working tag, but you only see it for a few chapters and apparently it is Hard Working. The character prior as others mentioned was humorous and silly but after the personality switch this novel lost all flavor of amus**ent.

In fact as someone else mentioned, it lost all taste with the school arc/boyfriend/girlfriend section that another user went into detail with.

Enjoy the first 25 chapters of amus**ent while you can, you won't find anymore silliness despite the novel being label 'The Silly Alchemist.' The biggest joke is the novel's title itself and how the author abandoned an otherwise entertaining, enjoyable character.

Also I don't know what these users on here saying 'oh he says true to his other self.' What? Is this much later or something? After personality switch he has been doing his own thing as his new personality. I should know as I read up to a 100 chapters and gradually lost interest in this garbage. Do I have to go through 500+ chapters of garbage to see if he stays true to character? Oh do tell where his other personality shows itself and where any humor can be found in this pile of dogsh*t.

I'll take a story focused on an idiot savant than some jack*ss with no feelings towards other people outside his circle or someone that just ruins other peoples lives. So enjoy your tale of 'The Jack*ss Alchemist.'

Amazing novel, stayed up to finish it, unique plot, and it's a very heart warming novel. Rollercoaster of emotions top 5 novels I completed.

If you are tired with typical Chinese novels, weak to strong destroying sects rinse and repeat I suggest you give this a shot.

a really unqie MC and author really do the justice what it mean silly or fool to the MC character, some novel say the MC genius but actually s*upid from his behavior (because author is not genius) and that make some reader angry, but this novel already said on the the title Silly, so reader cannot angry because we already know MC is silly and sometime its funny...

This is a very lighthearted and amusing novel. I picked it up as a recommendation after reading Library of Heaven's Path because I wanted to read another wholesome story and this novel delivers. It has quite a similar type of humour too. The MC is inexplicably very good at many things and yet generally clueless about the most basic things which leads to many hilarious interactions.

This is the funniest LN i've read and i've read quite a few of them, If you want to read about a silly (borderline autistic) genious that every girl just adores and feels protective towards go through adventures while having Lady Luck on his side this is for you

Silly alchemist has a very unique setting. It doesnt any other knowledge crap to increase word count.

It doesnt contain any cliche it its story line if you exclude the 'the unwanted and not needed recarnation thing'. The story has comic setting.

The characters are pretty unique like MC who is 'dumb' (real one not hypocrite one where author want to show how genius one but ultimetly is dumb) , here no arrogant cracter you will get and all the caracter are pretty much refresing not irritating.

Love the story! The story is about an MC who just wants to enjoy life but is forced into crazy situations. The MC is incredibly lucky and they even state early on that he's almost never really in danger because he's too lucky, not to say there isn't action but it's not the main focus.

This is a fun read that can really brighten the day when reading about how the MC is being prodigal!

The only real downside is that most of the arcs are about him "capturing" a harem member. But because of him being so dense he never really understands that they have feelings for him, even if they throw themselves at him.

The end is litteraly the MC proclaiming he wants to start a harem so they need to go and gather girls, this is what he say's while being surrounded by his already waiting harem members, which is kinda funny and further showcases his denseness but still would have been nice with some resolution.

This is hilarious novel with dumb or pretending dumb MC. The MC is muddle headed and aspire to be prodigal son of the wealthy family.

What I like is the MC is not as unreasonable like other MC in other novel, which the author gave unreasonable event or explainable luck (MC luck in this novel is not too absurd comparison with same genre). Sometimes adding weakness to MC is good way for story to progress. Because perfect is boring.

Funny story, if you take it for it's silliness alone it could certainly be a 5, but it's missing the level of humor I can find in quite a few other novels. It certainly feels like it's still got a ways to go before it really gets started and it's still in it's intro-phase, but I guess that's still going to take time to see.

Personally I think the story is good, interesting, and it's not like the other stories where the protagonist is s*upid and silly, he's quite innocent... he does not know the common sense of that world, I do not think that of his original world either.

It feels more slice-of-life than anything, so don't expect 100% action and romance. I feel that the romance is mostly a side dish to confuse readers. There are moments with action, but they aren't the most important. The story focuses on the MC's interactions with people and him being prodigal.

We get *told* that uses alchemy but that's it.

We get *told* that he does all these weird things but we almost never get to see it. 90+% of everything that happens is a noodle incident. We get told that he did this weird, or answered that weird or did this or that.. and how people reacted to it.. but we almost never get shown any of these activities.

There's nearly no worldbuilding. All the interesting things are told to us that something happened but we never get to see any of it. <<less
