Started off as a very sweet and charming romance, with a cute and interesting female lead and a strong and gentle male lead. However he soon left her, and the rest of the story was filled with the female lead waiting, chasing and begging to be with him again...

Given their personalities and the situation, the arrangment makes sense, but since it was mostly from her POV it seemed very one-sided, repetitive and tedious after a while.

The male lead found out he had a terminal illness and not long to live... and left her for 6 years. When he came back he ignored her because he was still in the ‘almost dying’ stage. And left again for 3 years. Overall their relationship lasted maybe 1 year at most and she spent well over 9 waiting...

Given how unstable his health was, I guess his reluctance makes sense... but he held out for over 10 years... And notice how there’s no tragedy tag?

In terms of strenths, the novel started out with very strong and likeable characters that suited each other and could depict their interactions well.

In terms of weaknesses, the stubborness of the characters in the latter half of the novel, which just seemed to drag the story on. The male lead causing her pain by trying to save her from pain, the female lead single mindedly chasing after him despite the lack of response. While it shows how dedicated they are to each other in a story, irl it would just be a pain and not particularly believable.

The story also does cute and light moments well but in terms of the tragic/emotional aspect it felt more removed. While this does save a lot of melodrama, it reduces the empathy readers might have for the characters. Not too sure if this is a good or bad thing.

The side stories are not too interesting but they give closure and hint that throughout this decade long chase, the male lead felt just as strongly for the female lead (though this should’ve been done throughout the story). Not too well written, mostly just extra scenes. <<less

It's a heart wrenching story that kept me emotionally heightened for a few days. Even when I see the title my breath quickens.

The overwhelming love of the FL towards the ML, the dialogues, the plot, the dramas, the emotions, sets the story to its perfection.

Although the reason for breakup is the typical letting go of the FL to free her from entanglement with a supposedly terminally ill ML, but love is not about living together for a 100 years, it's about going through thick and thin together, even if life... more>> is short.

However, it's emotionally captivating.

Translation is top rated. Hoping for more stories from the author.

I have mixed feelings of happiness and sadness while reading this very touching and heartwarming novel.

I love reading how the relationship between Li Chuan and Xiao Qiu starts as love at first sight and first love. 💖💖 To Li Chuan, Xiao Qiu is his sunshine in his "dark world" and his very first love whom he cherishes dearly, so much so that he's willing to let her go so she can have a better life & love. Some people might feel that he's cruel about his decision, but he's actually cruel... more>> to himself as well.
To Xiao Qiu, Li Chuan is her first and only love from her adolescence to present time. Some people might think that she's foolish for doing so, but she's really been enchanted by his caring & gentle personality from their first interaction.

I shed some tears too when Li Chuan decided to break up with Xiao Qiu & to stay away from her; and that they're separated for a while.

However, I'm glad that their love for each other binds them together in the end. Love is truly blind and really sees no defects in life. Li Chuan and Xiao Qiu complement each other well and they're a solid loving couple.

I sincerely enjoy reading this novel. I'm reading it again for the 2nd time. <<less

I’m exactly at the midway mark and this novel is unlike any other. The dialogues are profound. The plot is well paced. The characters are true to their own strengths and flaws. It’s a hard to put down novel. I’m not sure where the low ratings are from but this is a hidden gem.

I admire how strong the love between ML and FL, despite of the unfortunate events that they experienced and years of struggles that they battled on, they still hold the faith of love and care for each others.

I somehow understand their reasons why's and how's they have this kind of decision (like how they waste so much time.)

the question is: Are you going to disclose your sickness to someone who is naive (her 17 yrs old self), fragile, hard headed, minor, student, and clouded by love?

I love the tension and angst between them.

I would pick and re-read the novel.

For those, who are like are tense, have uncertain feelings, and wonder how this story turns like, you should read this.

Sometimes, I like it when the story gives you a painful feeling.

Like I'm the one who hurt it. Maybe I'm sound like a psychopath LOL

But I like it.

Sweet, Dreamy Romance but Heartbreaking. FL is headstrong and ML is sweet, caring and a dream but you might find him very frustrating. Them being both stubborn kinda dragged the last part of the story but it happens to some in real life so okay and humans make questionable decisions even if you tell them they shouldn't do that. Nonetheless, it was a great read, finished it in one night. The last few chapters felt lacking in my opinion because I needed it to be as detailed as the earlier... more>> chapters. 😭 The side stories saved me but it wasn't enough. It's the type of story that I didn't want to end. 😭 <<less
