Although the animals in front of him were a little strange, they were still animals. Why did all of you suddenly turn into humans? Coming across wild beasts, Lin Mu could still accept it, but coming across ‘*yāojing’, Lin Mu became…. excited instead. What? You guys are the infamous drifter beastmen. I don’t know anything about that. Did you guys commit a lot of heinous crimes? I don’t see that either.
 
And so, Lin Mu began a hard but satisfying life of building a home in another world.
 
*Yāojing/妖精 doesn’t have a proper English equivalent word. The nearest meaning would be “supernatural being” or “Yokai” (Japanese).

Typical Mary Sue MC. ML is a typical bad boy with personal issues.

ML fell-in-love at first sight ML, everyone likes MC, MC possess modern knowledge, everything just goes according to mc's benefits, MC is gorgeous and kind to everyone.

Everything just revolves around MC and the things he has in his bagpack is just weird. He was on his way to a family gathering before he was transmigrated. Why bring this things with you to your family home?
ex:

Barbecue powder but he don't have meat.


A stock of medication for a fever. Let's be realistic normal people usually just carry bandaid and Neosporin. Antibiotics expires so rarely people remembers, unless you get monthly cramps

A knife that never go dull. It's a small knife how does it not go dull.

Bread. Did his family home not have bread or anything to eat?

2 water bottles. Your family home don't got water?

First day of encounted, ML already want to marry MC. ML clearly had never seen "females" before even though he likes to describe MC with other "females". ML appears cold because he is self conscious of his "snake" beast form which every beast tribe hate for some reason. And suprise he is only warm to mc

For me the pace of the story was good. The development of their lives also not rash. It all good even romance and side couples. BUT!!!!!! Why AUTHOR!!!!! Need to!!! Adds!!! That Annoying bug!!!!! That Huang something female!!!! He is super annoying!!! His personality is really cunning. He likes to take advantage of another kindness.!!! That makes me think mu is too ignorant and I don't like the fact that he kept secrets from Patrick about his past and that bug origin. It seems like he doesn't trust him enough...... more>> Maybe he might talk about it later but I'm already decided to drop it. If not cuz I hate so much for that Huang smt I might continue till the end and rate it higher. But these problems really make me disappointed couldn't go on. I don't understand why the author needs to add those characters Or continuing to make the main cp have a thin layer of the wall for so long. And continue to add random characters to make it so awkward. <<less

This novel is full of fluff~ No angst except regarding the step bro and nearing the end of the novel

It's basically a daily life of MC and their tribe novel~ How they live depending on nature

There's basically no rival/ villan except nearing the end of the novel. He was quickly killed by ML thou (serve you right for taking over someone else house like you're entitled to it)

Um.. Well... Its interesting?

Im going to be honest here, this sucks. I love the premise and the basic character outlines but it falls apart in the actual writing.

Characters are.. theyre not bland, per se - its just that theyre a bit 2 dimensional? they have backstories but its not written in a way that makes it seem... well, real! It has the same vibe as if I said "this man is called james and he has 2 daughters and a husband, he loves to play soccer." and used that as... more>> a genuine character without having any other weight to it. Theres no actual personality, if you asked me to guess how character X would react to something id have no clue what to say because theres nothing there for me to draw on.

Translation definitely doesnt help. I dont know if the story was written in such a bland way in the raws but thats how it reads in the TL. Its only somewhat better than MTL, and that's only because the verbs and adverbs are correct, rather than because its actually readable. It reads like a long summary, as opposed to real writing, basically.

In terms of romance... there is none? I mean theyre a pair, sure. But its as if the author decided "these are my two MC and ML" and forgot that they have to actually fall in love? I like Love at first sight tropes, but that only applies to ML here, except MC acts more like the smitten one? the only evidence we have that ML is inlove in the first place is him vaguely thinking "i want to build a village for him (MC) " and being generally protective. Whereas MC is blushing at being in contact and throwing a tantrum over not wanting to leave ML because he's "throwing him away"?? Honestly confused as to who fell in love and who didnt tbh. these two examples also happen within 2 days of them meeting, mind you. Theres no build up for MC falling in love back, it just sort of happens for no reason.

MC also is a bit... how do I put this... he's a bit dumb? a bit low IQ? hes not s*upid in the silly or natural way, more like... if we didnt know that they had access to water I would genuinely think he was slow from dehydration. He just doesnt seem to pick up on anything? they call him a female and his only reply is 'im not' and he moves on? he sees flying snakes and tigers and thinks 'oh cool' despite up until that point believing he was still in his world? It seems a bit far off easy acceptance, and more into low IQ territory, or perhaps dementia? Im not sure. But I know ive only acted like that when I stayed up for over 48 hours, so im not too sure why thats a genuine way our MC acts.

Its not... well horrible, I suppose, but theres better beastman novels out there. <<less

SOOOOO GOOOOD!!!!!

As a slice of life theme novel, the pacing is very good, the characters are well written and the chemistry among all the characters and especially the main couple is so adorable. DEFINITELY FLUFF OVERLOAD!!!! (≧▽≦) The main story also ended really well unlike the usual slice of life where it was just really flat and mellow towards the end then suddenly the MC's monologue about how life is good then boom THE END. But in this story, I like how there was the final climax of the story... more>> which is a very serious and naturally made conflict in their world. So all in all I really think this story was well written and without any loose ends. It's just such a pity that I didn't get to see the MC's other friends having their own childs and more bits about their tribe. But still this is definitely a worth read most especially if you enjoy slice of life with adorable fluff. <<less

Basic setup, MC stumbles through a tragic backstory into a prehistoric world where beastmen roam and standard males are considered females capable of giving birth. It’s love at first sight and ML is a flying winged snake ‘wife s*ave.’ MC brings innovation and culinary skills. Everything is new to these natives, but it also helps that condiments grow ready to use (come on, flour and soy sauce need to be processed, not plucked), but don’t read this for logic or plot, read it for the fluff, dog food, and cooking. It’s mostly about slice of life, living simple, cooking, acting cute, and babies. There’s a bit of plot in the end, but everything’s resolved summarily and more babies. Nothing too deep happens, so it’s a quick, relaxing read. <<less

Those people complaining about r*pe should read and understand the whole event before jumping into conclusion. When ML jumped on MC, MC clearly stated he didn't want to stop why he complained later is because of a beastman's strength and size. The whole read was good and enjoyable.

Uhh it’s not terrible considering it is the author’s first time making a novel. The details are messy, the worldbuilding subpar, but I always have a thing for the starting-from-scratch type of plots. I think it’s really gratifying to see your characters go from having nothing to literally establishing kingdoms- super fun. Some may tire from it, but I dig it. Reminds me a lot of Stone Age Husband just with a shou POV & less details

Silly thing.

Can make one gag and roll eyes every few chapters (in a good way) then smile like an idiot.

It's a bit nauseating towards the end due to being over fed by dog food QAQ

So much fluff uwu, the heavy things only near the end and that's easily resolve (just 2-3 chaps iirc)

It may get boring for some to read as this is really a slice of life and no dark heavy dog blood to arouse your interset (or S/M side < (*´∇｀*) >)

Their children also PRECIOUS though not really explored (I mean like each got their own arc or sumthin')

But if you like domestic life full of fluff and no dog blood...

Personal favorite

    • Good slice-of-life read if you don't want anything at all
    • Emphasize of difference between female and male is normal, like come on it feels you don't know how much ABO novels emphasize on omega or alpha indentity making it unequal
    • MC is not feminine is just a fellow spoiled by modern life, he is also straightforward and quite cute, like we are, but I admire him not having much regret about internet
    • ML is a wife s*ave, but it's very lovable for me, also getting angry with Lin Mu whenhe forgets this word is very dangerous and being just sometimes unscrupulous
    • Like the writing style, and how author joked on almost ending chapter as an ending, like come on
    • There may be some characters you may not like

Don't overthink when reading this novel like I did. I gave myself headaches due to my confusion and frustration, so it took me ages to even finish it. It is the author's first novel so it is pretty good but that doesn't excuse some problems I had with it.

The story is mostly about a modern guy in caveman world showing them civilised things, mostly food recipes. There's a lot of focus on side characters which to me become quite annoying because a lot of them have similar personality trait, which... more>> is "hungry and MC makes the best food" It becomes tedious reading them mooching off MC over and over when all I want is lovey-dovey time with ML or at least the story to move on. ML is my biggest positive, he is super caring and respectful to MC and their interactions are cute.

The story is very much about the character's daily lives, it goes into too much detail for random stuff I care very little for and skips over details that I actually want to know. Most of those problems come by the end since it felt a little rushed. There is no overarching story, except some small stuff that was mentioned early on and only comes back at the end and a big fight at the end that is pretty rushed. The author doesn't let any suspense stay so the story becomes pretty bland because there's nothing to care about because you know it's all gonna be fine

The end fight with the other tribes has some suspense with the boss but he got poisoned and died while his goons left with the corpse. There was another moment that could have been a dramatic fight because they were fighting with another group for food location but before the fight even began the story said that it won't affect them if they lose so the whole fight lost all its stakes and in the end, it just wrote "they won" which is boring, especially for a novel that writes about there being beasts that fight for what's theirs.

The novel also forgets what it wrote about or just skips details that would have helped the story's pacing yet goes into too much detail on other aspects. By the end it did put a lot of focus on the character's future so although some aspects were confusing it did have a decent ending.

There are other aspects that I was frustrated with while reading like the science behind some of their cooking ingredients (yes I know it's a different world so logic doesn't apply) those aspects don't affect the story itself tho. If you want a wholesome novel about the character day-to-day lives then it's pretty good with some drama at the end but it's not what I was looking for myself.

I suggest reading "Stone Age husband raising journal" It's also in a caveman world where humans turn into beasts with someone who has modern-day memories. The worlds setting and overarching story are very well written and paced with satisfying end and side characters. Please read it instead of this. <<less

The MC is cringe. It's not even the gary-stu-ness of his character, but the way he acts is cringe. He says he's a man/male, but acts like a cliché weak female character that only know how to scream/bring trouble and be protected by the strong male character, but also keeps emphasizing his manliness. He makes s*upid choices, is irresponsible, and does not act like an adult, but like a child. Even the children in the story are more mature than him.

So if you can ignore the crappy MC, and just... more>> want to enjoy the slice-of-life bit, where they're building a better life for themselves... it's not that good in that department either. Everything is a fruit. Why is everything a fruit? Soap fruit. Flour fruit. Vinegar fruit. Sugar fruit. Lazy writing. Also, they use rock to cut rock into bowls and pots... like wtf? I guess? If the rock they were using was diamond. Also, the beastmen can make/build anything with even the vague-est descriptions because that's all MC knows. Just say the function you want the thing to have, and bam, one bed, cabinet, house, steamer, all ready to go for you. No real knowledge needed. If you can suffer through the MC and the lazy setting, then enjoy it for the slice-of-life that it is. Otherwise, do not read. <<less

To be honest, I struggled finishing this novel as I got bored. I even took a longer break in between and finished several other novels before picking this up again. And even after resuming reading this novel I had to practically force myself to read on a couple times. The problem isn't the slice of life genre since I have enjoyed the genre in several other novels before. It's a bit difficult to pinpoint what exactly made me want to constantly stop reading. So I will just list the... more>> issues that bothered me:

    • The MC is a Gary Stu who has the temper of a meddlesome/gossipy middle-aged auntie at the vegetable market who is still a little girl at heart. He easily gets mad and throws small tantrums only to be placated and coaxed by his wife-s*ave gong minutes later. His self-preservation instincts also seem way too lacking as he often runs off on his own only to get into dangerous situations from which he needs to be saved by the ML. Dude is basically a shoujo manga protagonist in a male body.
    • The flow of the novel could be better. There were way too many summary paragraphs. And at other times events that could have been worked out more are even being glossed over or skipped entirely. This is especially true when it concerns side CPs.

      I'm a bit salty that I didn't get to read about Ryan groveling and making up with Huang Yuan. Nope, they went from "in conflict and separated because of a little three" to having a baby together years later without mentioning how they reconciled.

    • A lot of the side characters were annoying, maybe not all the time. But they annoyed me enough times that I felt like applying reeducation disciplinary action. I guess this is just a matter of personal preferences and trauma from those times I had to do group course works alone only to have my group mates leech off of me. So seeing so many shameless leeches mooch off of the MC even if only for food irritated the heck outta me. Sure, the MC didn't mind since he is a doormat and likes serving others. But f*** that. Huang Yuan's entitled behavior in the beginning had me itching for a fight.
    • Then there is the matter of the baby the main CP picked up going from nonverbal to speaking in wholea** sentences within a span of roughly two months. Genius children in Chinese novels have always been my pet peeve. You can't tell me that it's reasonable that a one-year-old baby to complete the speech development from age 0 to 6 within a mere span of two or three months! Take your BS elsewhere, please!
I will stop here. I have already lowered my initial rating by 0.1 points since starting my rant. If I continued pointing out the demerits, my rating might just tank completely along with my mood. <<less

Tried it out for five chapters! After reading an epic-length book with complex characters and great worldbuilding, it’s kinda hard to get into this novel. The writing quality is also not the best, idk if that’s the TL or the actual writing quality tho? Anyway, I’ll try it again some other time. For now, I’m leaving it unrated.

It's a good book, with a very good plot! I would give it 5 stars, if it weren't for the fact that the ending was too rushed and confusing, reading the book you can clearly see that the plot could be extended much longer!

And the author did not explain how Ryan and Huang Yuan reconciled, in the extra he simply put it as if they had never been separated by Ryan's actions.

And like I said, the author's rush to finish the book ended up leaving him with several plot holes.
