The number of players in each game is not set. The protagonist has only one target – the most handsome one. As he falls in love, he realizes… the other players perhaps, maybe, probably… have Horror? Survival? Escape-type games?

I'm leaning towards a 4 but it feels like the overal rating is too high so I chose 3 instead.

Um, mixed feelings. The more I read, the more I feel like the plot and MC are pretty tr*sh, but also I'm still following updates so it can't be that bad? Honestly, most of the time it doesn't make much sense to me that ML falls for MC so hard. The MC is weak and timid and besides his facecon-ness, there's absolutely nothing special about him. I'm pretty sure he doesn't... more>> have any real feelings, and he's willing to kiss anyone attractive.

I will say though, some people are being very harsh regarding MC's brainlessness in the beginning, but I don't think that can be blamed on him. Although from our perspective it seems obvious, for him and the players its their life & death. MC didn't know their situation but he also didn't want to be harmed by them, so revealing his own unique position would've just put him into danger. He never consciously brought danger to others, and later on we see that he's willing to help them where possible. Also, his face-con-ness does get a bit annoying, but it's still alright. Anyway, he doesn't have the responsibility to take care of other peoples' lives; he helps where he can, but when the hearts of others are unknown I don't blame him for his actions.

That said, later on in the story when he's always nervous and panicky around the MLs to hide his "cheating" idk he feels so weak and passive?? Feels like there's no chemistry at all, it's just a pushy assertive handsome to death ML and a weak lamb facecon MC. Like what's this guy good at? What's he doing? Nothing special at all! It could've been anyone! Literally the only reason he is chosen is his facecon-ness, the only thing distinctive about him is his facecon-ness, his entire character could be summed up as a "passive scummy facecon".

The arcs are quite interesting. I love the doll arc (#3) 's ML, waaay too cute. Ending is pretty heartbreaking though.

The more that I read this story the more upset I become at his facecon-ness. Idk, the way it's written makes him feel like such a shallow character... especially when you add on his genuine scummy-ness. Like I said, he doesn't care about anything other than a handsome face.

The ending wrapup explanation was also very rushed and so dumb, it makes me want to punch someone (hopefully the scummy MC).

However, the translator does a really good job!! It's also fairly okay-ish entertaining, so it might still be worth a read. <<less

First of all the shou he uhmm~ A COMPLETE SCUMMY tr*sh OF HUMAN SOCIETY IN MY OPINION. I wanted to rate it 3 but my fat finger pressed 5 and can't even re rate it. Waiting online for solutions. (Just kidding.. I caaaaa..n manag.. Ge it somehow.i think)

Also why do author shy from giving the MC a harem. It's not like I harem but just that instead of coming up with braindead plot ya can just give us a dogblood romance. I think it is more bearable than the... more>> plot hole in my opinion. <<less

This book is so freaking good! So good that I couldn't wait for updates and mtl'd it like others, but I will probably re-read it after it is translated as well just because it is really freaking good. The mix of comedy, horror and romance in this novel was so well done. The characters are amazing as well, I never found anything I disliked about any of them and the world's for all of the characters was very entertaining! I am sad that the novel ends here??? Not sure as... more>> I can't find more chapters and it says it ends at 140, but the novel is obviously not finished? So sad because I want to keep reading! QAQ <<less

I’d give it a 3.5 for such a unique idea and keeping it fresh, but the lack of a proper ending or explanation really stops this novel from being something amazing.

First, to debunk some nonsense in the reviews

  1. the MC isn’t scum. A ‘dating game’ is literally a video game where you choose a target to romance, which is what the MC does. By all accounts, he is romancing an NPC. A basic setting of dating games is that you romance someone else in a new ‘route’. MC is playing a game based on face attractiveness. Which is what plenty of people do cuz... video game not real life.
  2. regarding MC causing other people to get killed. Nope. MC tries to help people in each world, but his circumstances prevent him from doing too much. Also, people are suspicious of MC constantly being okay and try to get him killed. Over the worlds, MC loses some of his naiveté understandably, but at no point does he disregard people’s lives.
My only problem is with the epilogue which never explains the reason for the survival game so we don’t know why these players are playing and dying so terribly and why the ML does what he does.

Maybe - what I i liked : I enjoy the idea that the MC does actually meet different ml, even if I’m not fond of harem, and the actual contradictions or heartache of the changevis rather underplayed this brings me directly to my disappointment : the first aspect is a bit original, just like the main idea : the MC is not playing the same game !
that absolutely shines in the first story : because his perspective is different, he unfolds a totally different story, in which the true... more>> villain is not the one the other fight

i also loved the pure honesty of the MC that actually wins some heart - because he doesn’t lie

but that doesn’t last, no other story get solved after that, the MC has half baked feelings of a fan for any pretty face, no deep involvement anywhere,

in the same maner the ending is as frustrating and contradictory of the preset, as it could really have been awesome - so like many i’m about ok with the explanation but rather frustrated by the abrupt end

good idea, very poor execution, probably rushed ending, but many thanks for the great traductions :) <<less

This quick transmitigation story is really good! Each arc feels fresh and richly developed, and unlike most romance horror stories, I felt like the horror elements were quite scary. The characters all have their unique personalities. The only downside, as others commented, is that the ending is quite abrupt.

Spoiler

This story really could have used another couple side stories to resolve the issue of the woman he was working with (and supposed to help rescue), Jin (who I feel is heartlessly abandoned again), revisit each of the gongs again, etc.

However, the ending itself I thought was perfectly fine. It wraps up with a reason why there is a love system in a horror game, and ends with the system incorporating all the men who lived the shou. I just wished that the story showed more of the love from other characters that the main system said made him curious about life.

[collapse]

In the end, I think the story was really interesting, with a great plot for every arc. I'm not a huge fan of the guy falling in love with characters based on their appearance, and I wished the author had tried harder to address the problem with this. However, I do think everyone grows a little in the end, and you can tell that the shou does have some deeper sense of love, not just the love for his partners' appearance. Or maybe that's just my wishful thinking.

You should definitely read this on the translators' webpage because I feel the translator has some of the most perfect comments for each chapter. And scanning the readers' comments after each chapter really added to the reading experience. <<less

Face-con! Face-con! Juju was a lot of fun as our MC wanders the worlds gifting dog food to poor desperate gamers.

The MLs were also very good, everyone felt different with their own desires, Austin was highlighted by a nice little black-bellied fish, and Mo Mo is so cute, my heart hurt so much when they had to part, the two Mo make you want to embrace them and protect them from the world.

Haha although I like this novel cause it's fun to read and the MC foolishness and ML varieties in several copies. I can see why some people are not satisfied in a way.

The plot is okay there's a starting point and the ending but there's some things that does add but and some don't. The author has good ideas but some execution is lacking a bit for ex. The climax before ending.

There's a good build up but then the middle part and before the end of the climax kinda rushed... more>> or there's some lacking details that needed to make that chapter feels satisfying. And the ending also feels abrupt.

Spoiler

MC meets the final form and we are dump with huge info and the MC while he finally decided to become his lover. The problem is the emotional build up was lacking from the climax to this point. The emotion that the MC has at the ending was just "well since your the "..." I can just be with you no problem" kind of emotion.

[collapse]

Still like I said I enjoy it. I recommend of anyone who wants to read this to not mind the plot much.
Spoiler

Such as how the MC is going through the world's with ease and still enduring horrors. Also lack of interaction with other players (I mean being friends to partner up with). Also how the boss is just the boss. Etc

[collapse]

If there's something to look forward from this novel is how the MC is enamored by beauty he becomes s*upid and the boss has different forms that they have some unique interactions between them. <<less

The MC only cares about beauty and flirting. No wonder he has a romance system while others have a survive horror system. In my opinion it is kinda funny how relax the MC is, doesn't face any danger due to his system.

He seems pretty unconcern about others, they aren't beauties. From his pov he isn't doing anything wrong, since people tend to shun or dislike him. He did try to persuade or warn people but it was up to them to listen. He isn't really responsible for them anyway at... more>> most their acquaintances. Would anyone really feel sad if someone you barely knew died? I wouldn't especially if they had a ugly attitude towards me. <<less

This was a really fun read, it could have been better if some of the plotholes were filled out and the story was better planned out (the author repeatedly notes that she had started the story for fun and didn't plan much). The blend of horror, comedy, and romance was very enjoyable, however. The third arc broke my heart into a million pieces, I haven't cried that hard in a long time.

One thing to note, for those who might not like this is (about the 1v1 nature of the book)... more>> :
Spoiler

although it is technically 1v1.i.e. ML is the same person throughout, it also isn't exactly like that. It feels more like each person was a different splintered personality with bits and pieces of some of the previous personalities mixed in, and only at the end are they all brought together. So it did feel a little harem-y especially in the last arc where spoiler spoiler spoiler all personalities existed as separate beings.

But having said that, still recommend if you like horror and BL. <<less

Want to thank both teams of translators for doing such a great job!

But that out of the way this novel leaves a lot to be desired. It has an interesting premise and decent comedy so it's fun enough for an evenings read, but the MC skirts by on being cute and I can't say much for his brains or personality.

The ending is also super abrupt and practically ignores the plot built up throughout the rest of the book. So I'm a little dissatisfied on finishing it.

Ass. I know the MC is supposed to be funny or whatever but if you chuckle even a little bit at what is supposed to be the "funny scenes" involving him you probably either laugh at anything or just have the sense of humour of a damn boomer who's way too old to be reading stuff like these. MC's feelings always feel shallow, he's dumb/naive in a way that just ruins the experience of reading this because it's predictable, and overall is just very unlikable.

Fun premise! My rating for this story is somewhere between 3 to 3.5 out of 5. Not a bad rating for me, but... well, I'll talk about why I removed some stars below:

CHARACTERS:

The characters here do have some complexity to them, but they're also kind of one-note. The MC is also pretty scummy T.T I mean, that could be explained by the quirks of the novel (which will be revealed at the end), but yeh! Something to keep in mind.

Xu Ziyue (MC) : As mentioned in the summary,... more>> the MC is a total face-con. He's attracted to faces and not much else. It's a pretty superficial way of liking but the MC is 10000% aware of this shortcoming of his and is pretty honest about it when people ask (which I think is actually a good feature). The only reason why I dislike him is the fact that he doesn't really have a sense of fidelity jfskljfal and his feelings remained shallow all throughout. Like, I could understand liking someone for their face but SPOILERS even after getting to know the different MLs, it's not clear whether he likes them for their looks or their personality. From the last arc, it's clear he's leaning towards the former though JFLKSAJF.

The ML: It's better to leave the MLs unnamed because the potential for spoilers is too high! If you want more info though, I've included some spoilers below if you're willing to risk it!...

Minor/Major Spoilers about the ML:

Spoiler

First of all... The ML is not just one person! This is very similar to a lot of quick transmigration stories... (where the MC meets different versions of the ML) but in the beginning, it's easy to get confused and think that this is more of a harem story. It's really only in the last arc where that takes a sharp turn -- leading to a HEA for two which is actually kind of sad... The way the ending handles things made it seem like the individual MLs were all erased T.T But, ah they're still worth knowing!

  • Sun Mo: ML number 1! He's cold, doesn't talk much, and is part of a haunted school game.
  • Austin: ML number 2 is outwardly very gentle and doting but he has a hidden wild side! He's also a lot more rational than the other MLs. Oh, and he's part of a supernatural luxury cruise game.
  • Little Doll: He's pure, a bit naive, kinda shy, and altogether very cute! Despite this, he's definitely the most possessive of all the MLs LOL. He's part of a haunted town game with dolls as the main theme.
  • Gu Ze: He's a little more mature than the other MLs and a little more straightforward as a result. He's part of a roleplay/survival game.
  • Shen Ci: Special ending ML! Can't say much about him~ He's part of a hospital game!
    [collapse]
SETTING:

The MC is seemingly sent into a normal dimension where the only thing he has to do is find a target and fall in love. But he quickly discovers, based on the actions of the other 'Players' in the same game as him, that the setting he ended up in is all wrong! Still, he can't do anything but continue to chase after his own CLEAR conditions -- which is to get his target NPC to answer to his confession!

PLOT:

A lot of the earlier plot arcs play around with the premise of the MC being in a different kind of game from everyone else. But the focus of this story is definitely the MC spending time with the MLs and pretty much scamming them all like the slag shou that he was written to be LOL This premise is both humorous and tragic. Especially since, as I described in the setting, once the ML answers his confession positively, he will clear the game and leave.

RATING:

The reason for the lower than average rating (for me), is because of the characters. I didn't really see much development in the MC. He remained the same slag shou from the beginning -- liking the ML based on his looks 99% of the time and only reluctantly liking them for their personality. I'm not sure if the reason for this is because the author decided to drop it early??? That's my guess from the overly rushed ending... But, who knows? The story was also lacking direction from the beginning since the author failed to set a proper foundation for what they threw out in the last chapter (that's right! I mean the literal last chapter!!!)

Anyway, despite there being parts I didn't like, I still thought that it was an interesting read. At least the premise was fun and the writing well done! The author was really good at setting up the scene, and despite my mention earlier of the characters being one-note, I ended up being fond of all of them in the end. That's right, even the slag shou MC LOLOL! Though I thought the MLs, who were more pitiful, were easier to like~ <<less

The novel is good for a light read but I do think that the ending was quite rushed. The MC is really a huge face-con. The MLs are all really pitiful. The system made it so that as long as the ML would tell MC that they like him, MC would leave the world as the task is completed. I did feel pity for some MLs.

In one of the arc the MC even tricked the ML to say I like you. I know he had his reason but the ML... more>> who was a doll in that world become really pitiful. He would stare at the road ahead each day in hopes that MC could come back. They met in another world afterwards but still I pity him.

I feel that none of the MLs feel secure in their relationship with the MC. They feel as if the MC would leave them if a better looking person arrives. And the scary part is that I too feel that it is quite possible. Though I could tell the MC likes the MLs but I couldn't think of it as love. I completed the novel but not even once did I ever read that the MC describes his feelings as 'love'.

Moreover the MC himself thinks that the ML has something twisted towards his like towards him. Although it was a rather rushed and confusing ending. I would like to recommend this novel as a good read. Moreover it was quite fun seeing MC romancing and playing 'love capture game' while the others in horror games kept worrying about their survival. My favourite arc was the second arc. <<less

It's an enjoyable read. Not overly complicated, don't expect some deep underlying plot and you'll be satisfied.

It's a rom-com done with a horror back-drop. I repeat it's NOT a "horror survival" story, you'll be disappointed if you come in expecting that. It's fluff, it's cute, it's dog food. Enjoy it.

There's some parts that seemed rushed (like the ending) but it shouldn't keep you from enjoying the story overall.

For the premise of this novel in general, it's pretty well written. Given the fact that it's a romantic-horror type of novel, the romantic aspect is the main focus with the horror being more of a backdrop. There are some gruesome scenes, disturbing plots, for different arcs. The atmosphere of the novel is pretty creepy, so if it was an actual full on horror story, it'll be somewhat scary.

Apart from that, the story is pretty fun to read, entertaining main character and entertaining love interests. In different arcs there are... more>> different love interests each. This novel is good for reading before sleeping, or when you're waiting for your food to be served. It's a good past time book as it is not a very heavy material which required your focus 24/7. (There are some parts that do become heavy though.)

The arcs are reasonable length for a short novel. (Only 140 chapters so it's pretty short in my standpoint as longer novels are like 210 chapters long.)

Those are the positive parts about the novel I enjoyed. As for the negative parts...

The story can be really rushed at sometimes, this is most evident at the ending of the story; it's fast and stopped abruptly. The last arc kind of made the novel look like a whole different novel; like the author has changed or something.

I also didn't like how before a new arc begins, the interval between the previous world and the new world was so short like a five minute break. The CG plot was okay, but it still felt pretty empty.

The last arc, also the most rushed ones. Sometimes it felt like the side characters only exist as fillers. For example,
Spoiler

The white lotus who used to be in the cruise arc, appeared in the hospital arc, main character exchanged intel with her, but after main character went through the passage, going to the other sanctuations, what happened to white lotus? And the other patient who roomed in the same ward as the main character? The author left out these stuff, whether intentional or accidental, from a reader's standpoint it's really rushed.

[collapse]

Another thing that I mildly disliked but didn't mind much; but I'm sure there are people who's taken notice to this. Apart from the main character having a face-con, nothing else was really mentioned about the main character. It seemed like the main character only 'lived' when the novel starts. It didn't showed what the main character was like before he died, previous crushes, the reason for his face-con etc. The author could've touched on with the reason why the main character was so afraid of the darkness.

Apart from all that, the novel was a pretty decent read. My favorite arc, and favorite love interest is definitely from the second world. The pace is good and the mystery was nice. It didn't feel like romance was the only thing that backed up the arc. There was aspects of none humans amongst the player; very cool.

My expectations were high, it didn't reach it but it's really nice to read if you need something to distract yourself with. <<less

Chapter 139 + 1 extra

Short review: 4 stars

It is overall an intresting and good story, the end is just extremely rushed.

Translation quality: 5 stars

CP: Data Stream BOSS Gong x Intense Face-con Shou (=beauty s*ave)

True identity of ML/system

Spoiler

He possessed intelligence and was a system that ruled over everything here but he didn't have anyone who loved him.

He tried to understand what it was like to love someone, but it was to no avail.

What should he do to make the humans teach him about it? And to ensure that those who meet him will love him?

So he studied the other game types and divided out a very small part from the system which was then used to form the simple love capture system.

My Summary of the setting:

Xu Ziyue had died in a car accident

And so, he had finally agreed to bind with the Love-Attack! gaming system which had been entangling him for over two years.

He had then entered into this illusory space, which was also the main interface of the Love-Attack! game.

His goal was to choose a target and make it fall in love with him!

After successfully achieving his goal in the game he will be transported back in his system space, no time with the captured target.

MC reunited with all the bosses he had met in the previous game worlds.

At the third sanatorium MC meets the 'real' Austin who overlooks the the other sanatoriums from 2-7, through security cameras.

Secound sanatorium ML:

A boss he didn't know yet: He was an extremely innocent person, but someone who can get jealous very easily. A sour lemon.

First sanatorium: long passage to... the main system space, no way back to the game.

[collapse]

He meets main system, we see it's POV and rushed conclusion of the story. END

TL'ers note/opinion: (Which I completely agree with. I hope they won't minde, that I share it on NU) To me, it felt like the author just wanted to quickly wrap everything up and just randomly made something up to try and tie up the loose ends. Whether they were able to do it or not is a different story. <<less

Super cute/ horror movie. MC automatically falls for the BIGGEST BOSS in every instance coz all bosses are so freaking beautiful/ handsome. Around 5 arcs and every arc does have an interesting backstory.

Highly recommended!
