Before her rebirth, Wei Luo was an innocent little girl.

After rebirth, she appeared lovable on the outside but was a different person on the inside.

Those who learned of her true nature yielded to her.

Only the prince regent regarded her as a treasure; no matter how much he pampered her, it was not enough for him.

Anything she wanted, he gave her, including the princess position that she didn’t want, which he stubbornly pushed onto her.

Brilliant Protagonist. I'm glad for once to see the protagonist use their head to set up a counter for the misdeeds of those scheming behind her. Maybe I've just been reading too many reincarnation stories where the characters get by with luck but at least this girl THINKS. I'm quite happy with the story thus far.

I have read quite a bit of historical novel, but I can't get over this age gap. A 22 years old adult is interested in a 13 years old kis!! Also the way ML just going around kidnapping a 6 years old so he can talk to her 🤢

Also the father is really bias towards the MC. If only he did his job right, his daughter won't be so bitter and jealous.

The extra ch abt Li Song, was uncalled for.

I think the he is the author's type hence the redemption arch.

For those who still sympathize with Li Song, let us examine his qualities and actions:

Spoiler

1) Rapist (Wei Zheng)

2) s*xual assault (calling his friends to gang-r*pe his wife)

3) Physical assault (especially to women)

4) Poor anger management

5) Narcissist

6) Always blames others instead of taking responsibility

7) Obsessive

8) Controlling

9) Alcoholic

10) Cannot accept rejection.

11) Delusional

I would say "he has all the qualities of an abusive husband, " but HE'S ALREADY, CURRENTLY AN ABUSIVE HUSBAND. And HE F*CKING BIT HER?! YOU ANIMAL!!! Trying to physically assault and r*pe the female you like, Li Song you're not even human anymore.

You don't get to hurt a girl just because she rejected you, you ass

I really wanted to like this novel, but it was so bad. It just felt like the author was just thinking about what to write as she typed this story. Yes, for the most parts the story flows but there are many other details that were unnecessary or contradicting (I'll write more below). The FL was clever when she was reborn as her 6 years old self. After meeting the ML, the FL pretty much in a way became more and more dependent on him.

I usually don't mind large age... more>> gap. However, I really really don't like how the ML isn't respectful enough towards the FL.
Spoiler

With his title/role, I feel like he lacks the basic etiquette of a royal prince. I think she was 13 so he was 22 when he started to be inappropriately touching her. I get there's a mature tag but I think it's weird that he can't even keep his hands to himself until marriage at his age. With his behavior, I can see obsession but certain parts of the story are just questionable.

[collapse]
Also, the further I got into the story, the large age gap seemed unnecessary?

The so-called "consequences" or "revenge" in this story were so harsh besides the one for the stepmother, I guess.
Spoiler

The biggest one was her younger sister, Wei Zheng. Holy. I cannot understand why the author wrote her storyline like that. It was disgusting. Her marriage was already a punishment to her.
Another would be Gao Dan Yang. She didn't even do anything besides hinting or tries to get the FL to misunderstand the ML's feeling. Again, her marriage was already a punishment to her. I don't see why the author randomly had her popped back into the story later on like that.

Song Hui & Li Song were wtf moments for me. With their outcomes, I felt like it wasn't even necessary to have them in the story that way.
Song Hui in the FL's past life wrongdoing was just marrying her younger sister after her disappearance. In the present life, he was rarely in there story, but never did anything harmful to the FL.
Li Song's feelings for the FL?? QUESTIONABLE addition to the story, felt like it was just to handfeed readers the ML's jealousy. I just don't see why I need to feel bad for him.

[collapse]
One more "rant, " the brother's role is also weird. Obsession with the FL. I get that the author wrote that the siblings are very close, closer than normal siblings because they're twins. I am a twin myself I get that. The only thing I agreed with his "obsessive" behavior was that he dislikes intimate actions between the leads before marriage.
Spoiler

That scene where the brother caught the ML making the FL do the deed with her hands and the ML had the audacity to be like she is/will be mine nothing's wrong with this WAS ????

[collapse]

There are better stories out there within the transmigration/rebirth genre with (large) age gaps. <<less

this story is well written and very interesting, however a lot of the side characters receive punishment that is too severe. For example the author made wei zheng, the second daughter, suffer so much. She is just a child who doesn’t know better than to follow her mother’s example. Also her father, wei kun, loves his other daughter (the MC) more than her. If anything, wei kun, the father of MC should be blamed for a lot of the things that occur. If he wasn’t over his first wife... more>> he shouldn’t have married a second wife and made her so miserable. He doesn’t love his second wife but he still married her and had children with her. The second wife becomes jealous because she realized wei kun (MC’s father) still loves his old wife. Imagine u married a man who u thought loved u but actually still isn’t over their first wife and loves his first children more than the child you gave him. Even though what the second wife did was horribly wrong, when I put myself in her shoes I can understand where she is coming from and why she might have been desperate enough to do that. However this all could have been avoided if MC’s father just didn’t remarry and have another child if he couldn’t provide them with love and emotional support. He was a tr*shy father who made the stepmother and stepdaughter miserable. <<less

First, let me get something out of the way, this story should have a P* tag. The ML is 9 years older than her. I know the setting is ancient china, but even other characters in the series described her to be "too young" repeatedly. It's normal for that period to be engaged young, but you don't engaged in s*xual activities until you're an adult (which is 15 for that setting).

ML has been watching her grow up since she was 6. He literally thirsted over a child, he always was... more>> into her since she was that young. He started kissing her when she's like 12. He also has some kind of feet fetish and kept fondling her feet.

The other characters literally used this to described their relationship when she was 13:

"There had been countless women with seductive bodies. He hadn't been interested in women with perfect curves. Instead, he liked a girl that hadn't fully developed. She was so small. Her hand was small. Her feet were small. Her shoulders were small. When she stood next to Prince Jing, it looked like an uncle with his niece."

The only justification is she's technically an adult in a child's body... but he doesn't know that.

In terms of storyline and scheming, this is fine. The schemes aren't complex. FL isn't OP, she died as a 15 illiterate beggar so aside from a few future knowledge, she's not an expert in anything. Her schemes are simple, not like playing a 3D chess or anything. The writing is so so. There's a lot of outfit descriptions even for minor characters.

Dropped at 132, doesn't seem like there's any plot left. It's 70% about what she's wearing and eating and how everyone finds her pretty. + s*xual harassment by ML and Li Song dude. <<less

I feel that this is just alright.

I feel that I read more of how in depth the hairstyle, clothing or items used by the character on every chapter than the schemes or happening of incidences. Those that supposed to be touch and go is more focused on rather than the situation or facial expressions that the characters should have so we can feel more.

I feel complicated about this novel. The ending is so sweet and makes me almost forget about my dissatisfaction about certain points that happened thorough the story. But I still have to say it.

Spoiler
    • It's hard for me to like MC and ML. MC had a pitiful past but I don't agree with most of her method of taking revenge. She rarely used a clever scheme and directly used her fist or her mouth. Surprisingly, she never get into a problem because of her actions. Half of it because ML cleaned up her mess and the other half was probably because of her female lead's halo. I prefer Shen Miao from Rebirth of the Malicious Empress of Military Lineage if we talked about clever scheme and taking revenge.
    • ML is your typical cold, aloof, and domineering male lead. He's a bit boring but I won't dislike him just because of that reason. I dislike him because he mol*sted MC when she was still underage (she's 13 and he's 22 when he started mol*sting her) and most of the time, it was done without MC's consent. It was so uncomfortable to read.
    • I hate how MC treated Song Hui (MC's ex fiance). He wasn't a bad guy. On the contrary, he treated MC pretty well since she was a child. MC clearly didn't want to marry him after her rebirth but she actually waited until the last minute to reject him. How could he not feel bad about it? They were one step away from marriage but suddenly she said she didn't like him. He already wasted so many years to wait for her and it's all in vain.
    • ML was no better than MC. He knew his cousin (Gao Dan Yang) was interested in him for a long time. She also waited for him for years until she became an old maid. But all this time, ML only brushed her off but he never stated cleary whether he wanted to marry her or not. It made Gao Dan Yang felt that there was any hope for her. I know Gao Dan Yang also had her fault. Her obsession towards ML was unhealthy. But then again, if only from the start, ML cleary rejected her, she probably wouldn't waste her time with ML anymore and she could move on earlier. And the cruel thing was ML made her marry a faraway prince who was famous for being a scroundel just so she couldn't distrurb MC anymore. It was okay if the prince treated her well. He actually abused her and made her suffered a miscarriage.
    • About Li Song, I don't think he deserved a second chance. In the past life, he and his sister poisoned MC's twin until he became an invalid. In MC's current life, they also tried to harmed the twins over and over again. No wonder MC hated him to the bones. Yes, he's a bit pitiful because of his unrequited love towards MC but after what she had done to MC and his brother, and also how he treated Wei Zheng, I don't have much sympathy towards him again.
    • On the contrary, I felt Wei Zheng was a bit pitiful. When MC reborn, she was still 5 or 6 years old. At that age, it was still possible to correct her behaviour and made her a good girl, like her brother from the same mother, Wei Chang Mi. But Wei Kun (MC's father) neglected her just because her mother's (Du Yueying) mistake. She could still meet her poisonous mother all the time and in the end, her personality was also influenced by Du Yueying.
If only Wei Kun personally brought her up like MC, maybe she won't be like that. But Wei Kun only cared about MC and didn't want to bother with her. One day, she wanted to trap Song Hui to marry her but mistakenly trapped Li Song instead. If Wei Kun really loved Wei Zheng, he wouldn't bear to let her marry into Li Song's family because he knew they won't treat her well after what she had done to Li Song. But Wei Kun cared about his reputation more and even begged Li Song to marry Wei Zheng. Li Song agreed just so he could have a connection with MC. What Li Song did to vent his anger towards Wei Zheng was very disturbing. He made her served different men every night, from his friends to his guards. She was just 13 yo at that time. In the end, she couldn't bear it and chose to end her life.
    • Like MC, I also didn't have much sympathy towards Jiang Miaolan (MC's mother). Yes she was a bit pitiful back then because she fell for other's scheme but MC was right. She wasn't there when Du Yueying sold her to a servant trader. She wasn't there when ML was poisoned with five mineral powder. She wasn't there when MC was poisoned by her third aunt, etc. She chose to run away and marry someone else and only came back 15 years later. But what's the point of coming back at that time?
    • I also realized that there are few of inconsistencies in this novel regarding of MC's past life. MC said Wei Chang Mi lived a debauchery life when she came back to the capital. But at that time, Wei Chang Mi only 8 or 9 yo at most so how could he had a debauchery life? MC also said she didn't live long after she was coming back to the capital but she still witnessed Zhao Zhang (ML's half brother) became an emperor and ML became a regent. Unless like in MC's current life, did the emperor also abdicated himself in her previous life? If it's like that, then the timeline made more sense.

I cannot, in any lowest standard possible, recommend this book as a good read. I started this book with low expectations from reading other reviews first so believe me when I said I didn't have very high standard when I judge this book. All the matter of age gap or weird romance between a young adult and literally teenage girl, I have pardoned that before I even started the book. I went in to see the story, development or characters and I have to say it was more disappointing than... more>> expected.

The MC is utterly unlovable. I don't understand it myself, I am not against a mean/fierce/evil/scheming/villainous MC, in fact I often like these anti-heroic MCs. The only problem with this MC in this book is that she did not fit into this category. If I have to describe her I would call her petty, childish, with the mentality of an actual spoiled teenager instead of someone who had been reborn with previous memories. She did not scheme revenge, none of those smart intricate plots, she just does basic evading maneuver or straight up stab someone in anger or depend on the ML/other people. Her so called cleverness was not reflected nor written well. My next biggest issue with this MC is that she is cruel out of greed. She seemed to dismiss other people's feelings and deliberately acted to hurt others just because she dislikes them or she is prejudiced against them without much thought. She did not deliberate the past life vs present condition she just simply... disregard them. All I get from reading MC's thought is that this girl is unnecessarily selfish and cruel without any proper justification other than her greed and character.

Now the ML. He... is not.. ML material, at least for me. His character was not written well. Author keeps saying he's cruel and powerful but ??? all you can see from the novel is how he dotes on the MC without any good reason. Okay, sure he found the MC intriguing and interesting but he doted on her since like.. day 1. He just simply pampers her endlessly. Now I am not against fluffy romance and whatnot but come on!! If you're going to make other people say he's cruel, powerful, taciturn, does his behavior written in the book shows that at all!? Even if he's only sweet to MC there should be some consistency between how he shows his cruel side and his loving side but in this book, nope, he just seemed like a pushy man chasing after a girl and willing to do anything for her. I really cannot find the ML attractive at all, and believe me I usually like novel written MLs.

Other guys in the story is lackluster. Ex-fiancee is gentle and will do anything for her, because he treasures her as his future wife but he was just written to be trampled on by the MC or to suffer some terrible fate. Oh, the brother.. you literally.. cannot.. know anything about the brother. They are twins but the brother was just there to be like a wallflower. I honestly do not understand what's the point of having a twin brother in this novel aside from decorative purpose. Bland, unlikeable character.

All in all, I really can't find any charm or any good points from the characters. Most are very bland and even unlikable. I don't understand this book, there is no depth to it, no attractive points at all except if you like to spend the whole book frowning and fuming at the MC.

2/5 because the translator did a very good job, and it starts off alright in the earlier chapters, before you see how unlikeable the MC and other character is. <<less

The main character in this story suffered a miserable death in her previous life and when she was reborn she swore to correct all the wrongs she suffered. But I have no sympathy for her. She is unreasonably vicious towards little kids (who indirectly wronged her in her previous life, as adults) and it seems like her attempts at preventing history from repeating itself just create more enemies for her and her family.

Secondly, the age difference is just creepy. The ML is 22 and MC is 13 (physically) when the... more>> romance begins to develop. Nope. Not my cup of tea. <<less

What's the best word to describe both ML and MC? Probably 'Ruthless'. I've read a lot of revenge stories and out of all of them I can say with confidence that Chongfei Manual has the cruelest pair. There has never been a starker contrast between the way the ML treats the MC and everyone else. Especially enemies of the male persuasion who are interested in the MC. oof.

I've never pitied a villainous character more than Li Song. He's absolutely pitiful.

Spoiler

Maybe I have a soft spot for unrequited love, but as the store progressed I pitied him to the point that I half hoped Wei Luo would give him even a rice-grain sized amount of positivity... ugh to fall in love with her as a side character is to suffer. He's really paying back for all his past bad deeds. I mean, he's scum for how he treats his wife, but ah...I'm weak to love...

[collapse]

Spoiler

Even Wei Zheng's end was particularly miserable.

[collapse]

But the romance between the MC and ML is sticky cute. I think the ML is terrifying, genuinely scary. I'd never wanna be transmigrated to that world ever. Nope. Unless you're Wei Luo, the ML is cut and dry untouchable. Don't even look. So scary!

Chongfei Manual is a good read if you can stomach a brutally cold and borderline malicious, petty power couple. The romance aspect is adorable, kinda steamy. I gave this a 5/5. <<less

Full of fun royalty/nobility intrigue, schemes and drama. Lord help anyone and their nine generations who tries to go against the main couple from getting face-slapped to oblivion. Satisfying yet cruelly over-the-top sometimes.

Yes, Wei Luo is vicious and manipulative, but I admire her wit and scheming nature. She's completely heartless to those who wronged her and her loved ones, but she can be kind to those who were good to her (e.g. Ah Dai), so I don't think she's evil per se, she just suffered so much in her last... more>> life that it had wiped out her compassion and trust in people.

Spoiler

Interesting that Li Song got an epilogue / second chance. There were other open-ended plotlines that I would be interested in knowing more about, re: Empress Chen, Jiang Mo Liang, or even Song Hui.

The more you go on the harder this novel gets to read. List of things I didn't like:

MC:

-MC is overpowered, she's super intelligent but I don't understand why? It wasn't like she had experience in her past life since she was a farmer/village girl.

... more>> -MC is the best thing since sliced bread. She's pure, cute, smart and a great person. You can't go more than one chapter before hearing how great she is.

-MC thinks she is the best thing since sliced bread. This is one of the things I hated the most in the book, MC genuinely considers herself a good person. She justifies all the evil things she does by saying that had they not wronged her, she wouldn't have retaliated and thus she is a good person. When in reality most of her retaliation is way over the top. Like no you're just horrible. Which brings us to the last point,

-MC is cruel. She is one of the most vicious characters I've seen in novels. I usually enjoy vicious characters but not in this case. So MC wants to take revenge on those who wronged her which is understandable, however some of the people she wants to take revenge on haven't even done anything yet? Like the person who did you wrong in your last life is literally a child right now? Why not raise him to be better ? Some people however do not deserve the fate they got, in those moments you'll lowkey be more sympathetic towards the "villain" than the actual MC.

She's constantly plotting, putting on pity acts and throwing tantrums when she doesn't get her way (she's supposed to be mature but I digress) , and then in the same paragraph the author will once again write about how cute and adorable she is. It doesn't make for a likeable character whatsoever, you can't root for her entirely because at times you'll think "Man, her revenge was a bit too much"

ML:

ML is messed up. - Sleeps with MC when she's 15 (DubCon-ish), gropes her multiple times before that

- Considers MC his, yes like an object

- Has no personality trait except for the jealous and possesive which are stretched to the max

- Is actually jealous of his own son (other novels have done it and I never approve)

- Exists to save MC when she can't save herself

- Chemistry between the two, lol what even is that <<less

You know what? If I really read the comments here, I'll be relictant to read this. Good thing I read the novel first before the comments here in NU. I honestly think this is a good novel to read. There's no too much drama and just the ML pampering the MC. Maybe some will be bored to continue halfway but when you're on the 100th chapter...I can't help to binge read. hehe. I don't know why but the first 2 side story makes me happy (?). It's realistic for me... more>> I think? since she is not overly heavendefying or what not. Well it's just my opinion and I can't help but look for more. The last chapter breaks my heart bec of the father son duo's interaction but yeah... It rally is nice ☺️ <<less

By far one of the worst novel I had the displeasure of reading. The main leads are extremely dislikeable (MC a b*tchy egoistic white lotus the ML a power abusing predatory grooming creeper), the author is overly biased towards main casts and give them ridiculous main lead halos and all the unlimited luck (monotonous winner winner chicken dinner).

The author's worst habit are the constant changes of the narrative, entire flow of the story/writing is an absolute mess. The high ratings simply confounding.

The novel title as well as synopsis is... more>> a click bait and false advertis**ent (reasons are in the spoilers).

I understand that this is set way back in the past but grooming and paedophilia is disgusting regardless of time (and even the background characters feel the age gap is too much). And yes, ML started grooming her from the age of 6.

The MC is more of a boring and unreasonable antagonist than protagonist. (Antagonists can be awesome, their character cannot be praised but at least the best they can do, is move the reader with their hardships, she's got none of that) Her original characteristics were already bad but after betrayals in her first life, she blackened beyond redemption. On a whole you can say she's a psychopath, everything she does is in her best interest, everything comes second.
Sure enough, her first life was terrible and she had suffered, but she is delusional enough to consider the world going against her than her own part in some of these miserable outcomes.
Spoiler

She got away after people planned to have her killed, she gets away, finds a temporary home and stays there. She knows her brother is still trapped in their birthplace. The step mother is out for him next, she just complacently lives in her temporary home, UNTIL she lost her place of belonging and seeks out her former home, only to find her brother in a much miserable state than she had left him in. But ofc, she blames everybody else but herself, when she could've notified someone of her step-mother's ploys or warn at least her brother of the two faced act of their step-mother, but nope. Nothing, nada, UNTIL she herself, is in trouble, she goes and seeks help for herself, not to see her beloved family.

[collapse]
Author might paint her as selfless from time to time but long time behaviour and results shows she's an absolute b*tch. She's in desperate need of some counselling.

Spoiler

Just a few more reasons why I hate MC are:
- she manipulates literally everybody without blinking and a guilty conscience, these lies often have too many flaws and it just feels like she's a psycho (pathological lying)

-loves to monopolize her belongings or people that she treats as belongings *cough* more psycho tendencies (lack of empathy)
and as mentioned in the first spoiler, she's also quite incapable of loving, ANOTHER psychopath characteristic

-materialistic and vain

-impulsive extremely aggressive behaviour, goes again full psycho from time to time and on normal occasions acting like a white lotus

-will even risk the death of the people she claims she cares for to achieve her goals or save her own life

-acts always like she's got the moral high ground even towards a frigging new-born and extends to even her best friends that always had her best in their interest

-compulsive lying; it may or may not be that she's too lazy to explain herself like speaking words would cost her life span but she'd tossing lies left and right to twist the narrative (mostly to her advantage)

-cockblocks literally every couple like she acts it's for their own good, but she could try helping them instead of breaking them up, if she invest with the same effort to harm people into helping people i'd like her a bit more...

[collapse]
And for the ML....
Spoiler

He began grooming her from the age of 6 and at least at the age of 11 he began harbouring s*xual interest in her that stayed firm during their parting for 2 years. At the age of her turning 13 he returned with strong signs of chasing and trying to posses her as an item, describing her like a indoor flower he raised with care and nobody else was allowed to touch.

And if that's not a clear declaration/indication for you that he's grooming her then IDK what else should make it obvious.

If she was ever "touched" she and the one who did the touching got serious repercussions and ML never shied away from impulsively hurting her either. So additionally to treating her like a pretty flower vase, it goes as far as low-key domestic abuse. Besides that there's the classic chinese web novel background search, stalking, lurking and acting overly violent towards those who wronged her into a matter of life and death. With time, things even escalated to s*xual harassment, with MC clearly being confused and uncomfortable with his behavior but he had no signs of stopping any time soon.
The cherry on top has to be the perfunctory respect he has given her. Women back then obviously can be easily ruined by a rumor and he's gone many things that could've led to many many many misunderstandings.
He's publicly made moves on her, groped her even underneath the clothes, broke off her engagement with somebody else but had the opposition cancel the engagement (on the surface, it would seem like they're not satisfied with the bride) but also literally made her help with jerking him off like it's her responsibility BEFORE their marriage.
But hey, motherly author nerfs everybody's IQ so nobody has caught on except for those in need to harm them so their relationship progresses. Plot conveniences amirite?

OH, he r*ped her, twice. Scratch that, countless times, wouldn't give her v*gina a breather, kept going against her will, hurting and exhausting her nonstop to the point she can't walk on her own. A 16 year old by a 25 year old, yay. So romantic...

As for the inconsistencies, they're everywhere, not even kidding, from chapter one there are already a long list of questions for author. Two best examples are

Spoiler

1. MC's vast knowledge over everything despite her growing up on a country side, and even if those are rumors, she strongly believes and relies in those

2. Suddenly fur allergies, earlier chapters she hugged a dog in a box for half a day that was meant as a present for the ML and no allergic reactions happened. Later on, author narrates of MC hugging a dog to sleep as a child and had strong allergic reactions to it and claims that allergy been with her both in first and second life.

To sum it up, I'll compare it with tr*sh reality TV, the telenovela levels of idiotic. You can fall asleep to it or you can enjoy it, by no means ever take it seriously. This is like a worse version of '50 shades of grey' without fan service but still got it's toxic and twisted casts. People say it's fluffy, but with all the red flags, it's really hard for those who noticed it to enjoy it without feeling extremely awkward.

The only pro to all the con is that it's at least not an angsty novel...
but frustrating nonetheless in its own idiocy.

And a special note to the younger audience, the romance is very twisted and dangerous predatory and harmful signs are being romanticized. It is downright toxic, the Joker tossed Harley out of the window but are still being romanticized as an ideal couple type of toxic.
Do NOT look for a man like ML, ever.

Translation was superb, author's writing was poop. <<less

I'm tired of these type of novels. Basically the villains's job in these type of novels is to make look better the female leads.

They're villains just because they are, there is not a explanation about why their behavior is like that and the female lead would judged them based on what their did to her on her previous life without certain knowing if they would acting like that again. For example, the MC's sister, like always, she is the bad party, but Wei Lou (MC) never think that her sister's... more>> behavior was because her mother (MC's stepmother) teaching her to be competitive because her father loves more Wei Lou than her. Because the wrong decisions of their parents her sister is bad with FL. But what does Wie Lou do? She decides that her sister, a five year old girl, is a bad person and seeks vengeance for it. Really? How mature of you, MC.

Also, she is mad with her fiance from her past life because he married her sister, but Wei Lou never thought that was because she was lost 9 years (her stepmother thrown her to a river thinking she was dead) . Girl, he wasn't going to wait forever for you and even worst being an arranged marriage, I believe the groom's parents insisted on continuing the marriage with the other Lou girl.

Another part that disgusting me was that there's a dog's fight, they gamble on which dog would win and the loser dog, if it is still alive, will get cooked.

This is only the novel's beginning and I didn't read the romance part, which based on this first chapters, I guess it will be terrible. <<less

The more chapters I read, the more I dislike the characters to the point I almost wish they had a bad ending.

The main heroine has no redeeming features except "great beauty". This would make her dull to read but that would have been understandable, she died as a 15ish year old commoner in her first life and went back in time to her 6 year old self. However, dozens of chapters in she is reaching marriageable age and despite being internally 20ish years old, you find that she has not... more>> changed much compared to the beginning chapters and her choices just make her seem callous and her methods are far from smart, its hilarious how most descriptions about her is always about her beauty, because frankly she has nothing else.

Spoiler as an example:

She has a verbal engagement from childhood and she admits her fiance whom she knew since young treats her very well and sincerely, but during the 6-8 years since she went back in time, she did nothing to end this situation or hint at that she wasn't interested and when the very day the other party's family came to discuss the engagement/marriage she thought it was fine to tell the guy that she has no feelings for him and likes someone else and somehow this would hurt him less. <<less

This novel extremely annoyed me to the point I can't continue reading. The reason is simple: MC is a little brat who is quick to judge people based on her previous life experience, which is poor and certainly not nearly enough to hate some characters. Like, MC, you changed so much in your life from the very childhood, are you sure others won't change?

She is spoiled rotten by her siblings, beautiful and somewhat smart (or maybe everyone else is dumb), so it's straight up boring to watch her bully pitiful... more>> side characters, who, for some time, are kids! Innocent children, who never did anything to you, MC. WHY? The romance is cute, but both MC and ML act inconsistent with their age and experiences, so it's a bit disturbing.

Overall, if you can stand white lotus MC, check it out. I prefer novels where good things go to genuinely good people. <<less

I've read some comments about Wei Luo being ruthless and evil but I actually really like this part of her personality...I don't like ladies who act virtuous on the outside but are evil on the inside and kill people with other people's hands. Wei Luo was a character that came as refreshing to me and I loved the paring with Zao Jie although he appeared a little creepy to me sometimes lol. Loved this novel and would recommend. 10/10 <3
