This is one of the best series to be voted onto Web Novel in a few months, but it still has a few glaring weaknesses.

The plot is the same old overly-done rebirth plot, but it's written well for the most part. The big romantic breakup the MC experienced in the past happened because she and her boyfriend made their choices. I can't sympathize with them for the misunderstanding, and I hope they don't get back together. A relationship is based on communication, and they clearly had none.

I love the family... more>> in here. The MC’s biological parents and adopted sister are tr*sh, but the family who adopts her is amazing. I love their dynamics, and it's my favorite part about this series so far. Although the MC likes the grandfather, he does not have unconditional love and completely loses interest in his adopted granddaughter once he finds out she's not related to him. I can't consider him a good family member, even if the person he's scorning is the villain. Whether they're related or not, she's still his granddaughter.

The greatest weakness of this novel is the BLATANT RACISM. I was enjoying the chapter and just reading along, and, out of nowhere, it’s like “BLACK PEOPLE AND AFRICANS ARE ABSOLUTELY HIDEOUS.” Like, what the hell? It really kicked me out of the being immersed in the story. Dark skin is beautiful—frankly, if these characters are pure Asian, their skin isn’t going to be white unless they’re albino anyway—and people in Africa have multiple races and skin variants, too. If you look at the comments and suddenly seen hoards of people announcing they're dropping the series, this is why. The comments made by the MC and other characters are just that nasty and atrocious. Everyone in the plot thus far appears to be Asian, so this prominent racism isn’t part of the story... It just jumps out of the blue and slams into the reader without warning.

Even as the MC’s greatest character flaw, racism is only acceptable if it is something she overcomes later as she learns more about acceptance. Unfortunately, as the cast is entirely Chinese thus far, I don’t see her facing this flaw anytime soon. I'm having a hard time liking her because of her OVERT RACISM.

The MC is a Mary Sue who is super-pretty and super-intelligent and knows martial arts, so she’s pretty bland as a character. She's describing as being so obscenely beautiful, I can't help but wonder if everyone around her is disfigured in order to make her look so good. Her most interesting trait is being a loli. Fortunately, the family is loving enough to balance out the blatant Mary Sue-ness. Otherwise, this novel could get boring real fast.

Flat-chested women are the best women. What’s the problem with the MC having a loli figure? Racism is a bigger issue, but deriding women for their body shape is another problem this story faces.

If you can tolerate the racism and the Mary Sue-style MC, then this series is worth checking out. If the MC had a more natural personality and there weren't any racism involved, I would have rated this story more highly. It'd also be nice if the MC took action into her own hands instead of just using other people all the time. If it turns into a sappy romance full of misunderstandings with her ex, though, there's a good chance I'll drop it before it goes premium.

The editing is fine for the most part. The translation and editing team don't seem to understand the difference between fiance and fiancee, though, which is very distracting and causes plenty of gender confusion for me as a reader. <<less

Hoo boy, don't even bother with this novel. It's not colorism lite it's literally racism y'all.

You may think "oh I'll just roll my eyes at the skin color stuff so I can read this system second chance story" but nah they use Africa as an insult repeatedly.

To be honest I almost ragequit reading this webnovel several times, but I managed to stick it out all the way to chapter 391 before I just couldn't take it anymore.

I like reading the reincarnated/transmigration trope, and I have read several different titles. I usually concentrate on those that are finished though, or ones that have decent MTL.

This one had a somewhat interesting setting, though not totally uncommon. However thus far, it plays out to be that the FL is probably just as s*upid as the villainous 'antagonists' depending on... more>> which part and who you chose. I mean they're beyond s*upid in their life choices, but FL is probably just as bad. There's many points in which she could have done better, or certain aspects of her previous life should have prepared her better for her new life. Rather than really using her smarts, it feels as if she's just a typical s*upid Mary Sue.

I can't even decipher if she's supposed to be a 'bada**' or a whimsically moody teenaged idiot with a lot of luck and high profile backers on her side. There's too many lapses in judgement for the FL to be a convincing adult or god forbid as intelligent the novel tries to make her out to be.

She's supposed to be the same age as the ML in a slightly younger body.

She totally does not act this way most of the time. Maybe she has some good ideas here and there, but as far as a 'strong' FL goes? Ehhh... Not really.

Spoiler

This FL cries a lot. 'her heart aches' 'eyes feel sour'

Over the same thing. Many many many times.

Because of ML's suffering due to her actions/missed opportunities in her past life.

Let's not forget she still continues to make him suffer, even if she feels bad after the fact. FL never seems to learn her lesson.

Both ML and FL suffered during their 5 year long break up. ML more than her especially after she went missing/died. I mean. ML legit goes insane. Insomnia. Hallucinations. They totally emphasize his psychosis a few times with one of his subordinates talking about how he needs to see a psychologist but refuses to do so. Even her brother Xiao Jing tells her that ML has been really bad off after the break up.

FL even manages to see glimpses of just how much ML suffers. His bottom lines and triggers are the two of them breaking up or her getting hurt and possibly killed.

So she made empty promises of 'never talking about breaking up with him' and being super careful and safe. She does none of those things.

It feels as if she talks about breaking up every time she gets upset at him. Something a teenager would do, not something an experienced 27 year old will do unless of course they're the white lotus love rival villainess.

She's basically emotionally abusing him with threats. She's 'playing love games' with ML who is already emotionally and psychologically compromised because of her.

The worst part is that her behavior is being validated by those around her. Even worse. The ML's closest friends are reinforcing that kind of behavior by accepting it and making it appear to ML as if it's normal and right. That it's all his fault and only his fault.

ML is indeed flawed. He's super possessive, does not talk about his problems, and is super protective of FL. It's 'sweet' and 'romantic' but it's also wrong in that it goes way over the top. His past and experiences gives a good explanation to his behavior even if it doesn't excuse it. So he's not too badly written. There were some attempts at character growth when he exposes more of his weaknesses to FL, but of course she ruins all of it.

I can not understand how FL can be considered as smart. She's a hypocrite.

There were instances in which there were attempts to show how much she's learned in her second life, with the inclusion of more family and people that truly care about her.

Maybe there was an instance of her finally understanding what it was like to be in ML's shoes of being 'weaker' than her, because she becomes a nobody that needs to depend on others; whereas in her past life she was at the top of the food chain. She talks about being independent and how she uses people (but would never hurt those she cares about even if she uses them).

Girl. That is not being independent. You are still depending on those people with more power than you.

She also talks about how her pride got in the way of her relationship with ML, and not doing that s*upid thing again.

NOPE. still doing that s*upid thing and letting pride get in the way. By constantly doing more s*upid things to put herself in danger so that ML has to go in a save her. Only for her to get upset at him.

She's upset that ML doesn't want to let her know things about him or try to protect him. But she doesn't either. I mean at least ML tries. FL simply doesn't do it at all. unless she's forced to due to him finding out.

The reason probably being to 'develop their relationship' or 'show sweet fluffy times'. Even if it is to exasperate ML's mental illness and progressively encourage total utter dependency on FL.

FL is supposedly OP with her System, 008, with the ability to use an All Purpose Skill that makes her a total bad ass. But only for 2 hours. And it could possibly put her into a coma forever. But it's totally worth it to keep ML safe, even though it could possibly make him go completely insane for losing her yet again.

Yeah FL keep being brainless. Keep abusing the ML.

FL comes off as being super dependent on the System, even with it's limited uses. She's not smart about how she uses this power nor does she scheme or make plans to make the most out of her powers. There's no contingencies for when the System is unavailable to use or when the time is up leaving her absolutely powerless. NO doing yoga every morning does not equate to becoming super awesome in kungfu or martial arts.

She goes from using the people around her, including her friends and family (as long as it doesn't hurt them) to refusing help because she can do it on her own because she's an independent woman who doesn't need help.

[collapse]

TLDR

The lead couple are in a totally toxic relationship. That ain't romantic. If anything it should be a crime.

ML definitely has severe mental issues and FL is kind of a hypocritical idiot with minimal to no character growth.

I'm only giving an extra star for being somewhat okay with mediocre face slaps and it has its moments of comedy, but overall the positives do not outweigh the negatives.

I am ultimately ragequtting this novel after reading 391 chapters with only 149 chapters to go. I gave it so many chances. But it disgusts me too much to continue with this farce.

I'd rather read fanfiction of someone transmigrating into this and usurping the FL and actually helping the abused ML. <<less

I could say that this story is average for overall. The first half was good, where the MC was trying to rebuild her power in every aspect. The second half was too much filler that make the plot boring, I just skipped some chapters because it was boring.

Well, if the reader want to read this story, there are a few things to ignore.

Spoiler

If you want to enjoy this novel, just close one eye and ignore a few unscientific detail such as :

  • MC has universal skill
  • She goes to hospital more often than she goes home
  • All the villains are s*upid, basically they paved the way for th MC grabs their "tail"
  • The MC so called bestfriend since childhood couldn't notice that the girl Xiao Rou which is Tang Xi (MC) character are identical, because MC doesn't hide her character when her soul occupies Xiao Rou's body, well that's prove that the villain is s*upid
  • Although the main couple has a very deep love and they would die if they separated but they are also childish because when they were arguing, MC blurted out to breakup
  • The second half of story was really mostly filler because the last 2 chapters will conclude the story just like that.

I really like this novel especially of how the FL's brothers are very pampering towards her. Also I like the plot of how the FL's past and present life, and relationships with her relatives are woven perfectly. I like how some of the characters after they've found out that they are wrong, they try to change for the better.

On the downside, I felt that the last chapters are a bit rushed and it's a pity that the author didn't write about some of the characters that has a potential for... more>> their own side stories.

Still, this novel is very good. There's many funny moments and dog food for the reader. Also, its quite short compared to other novels of the same genre. So I recommend that readers may give it a try. <<less

Plain racism at sight. So FL dies, gets transmigrated in the body of a girl who was died (was killed) in a car accident. And she gets a system. The first thing she ever does after getting the system is to change her skin color.

So the girl was switched with another girl when young and she was raised in countryside. So due to sun and working on the farms, she had tanned skin. And FL changed her skin to white. There are so many Chinese novel which marks FL's beauty... more>> by being white but this novel takes racism to next level <<less

Started off interesting but then the MC was just Mary sued way too much.

also the adopted daughter is actually sympathetic. She was right that she would lose everything because she came back. The Chinese are worse than nazi when it comes to blood purity. Everybody she knew had no problem throwing her away.

It was pretty good, but I just couldn't finish it. I got bored with it. What annoyed me throughout the story was MC continuously acting like she's an actual high school student and not a grown 23 year old woman (27 if we're talking about her previous identity as tang xi). Also I feel like this story could have ended with like 400 chapters, probably even sooner if certain things didn't get added in. I really hate multiple chapters about side characters. Also I didn't get a chance to see... more>> the racist remarks she made because the translator must have taken them out, but if I had read it I would have dropped it sooner.

Like I said before, the MC just acts so childish at times that you would think that she was a teenager who had transmigrated instead of a 27 year old president of a company. She especially annoyed me with how she was with the ML.

Also she says that she wants to stand with him and not let him do everything for her and she wants to be on equal grounds with him by doing stuff herself, but he is literally doing everything for her. Like he helps her out with every little thing but then she wants to pick and choose when he can help even though she says she doesn't want it.

She acts like she doesn't his feelings for her at times and acts like she doesn't know what's wrong with him when he is upset by something she said, which was the most annoying thing. I really can't stand her. <<less

How do I say... the premise is really good, the start of the story really good, but it just goes downhill to a rushed ending with many loose ends.

It's like you're reading a book and the ending suddenly comes in the middle?

And the MC... she goes to promising to disappointing.

Don't read this... seriously.

4 stars it's a Mary Sue but a really well done Mary Sue. If you take it as the guilty pleasure it is, and never expect any deep meaning you'll have a fun read that moves along at a rather brisk pace.

Down sides the ending is really rushed, there's plotholes and continuity errors all over the, and character motivations will rside eyebrows

Actually for me this story is not that bad so I don't know why the rating is so low. Maybe because it's one of my favorite genre (rebirth story with standard face slapping here and there) so for me the story is quite enjoyable. But I agree that it has many flaws and also a few loose ends like:

Spoiler
    • Many characters are introduced without further stories till the end. For example: the Jin family story. The author mentioned about this family briefly in chapter 458 but then it's not mentioned again till the end. Another example is about William. Just who is he anyway? I thought he's kind of the final boss or something but there is no backstory of this so called powerful figure in the world. And also how is he related to the Qin family in the first place?
    • Ning Yan's side story is unnecessary. He's even not a 2nd ML and his story doesn't affect MC's growth. I prefer more stories about Xiao Yao and He Wanyi.
    • Sometimes the author is forgetful of her own story. For example: about He Wanyi and Xiao Yao. In the previous chapter, ML already mentioned to MC about He Wanyi's love for Xiao Yao but in the next chapter, MC suddenly has no idea about that. Another example: about grandma Tang who also reincarnated. Grandpa Tang already mentioned it when he met Xiao Rou for the first time but in the next chapter she has no idea again about it.
    • Abour Lu Li, as a miracle doctor who has advance medical ability, why MC doesn't try to cure him like she cure Xiao Yao, her mother, and also her mother in law?
    • Why there isn't anyone who is suspicious about Xiao Rou when she posed as Tang Xi? Although she uses a skin mask, their figure and voice are obviously different (there is no mention about voice changer in this story).
    • The story is a bit dragging but the ending is so rushed. It's like the author doesn't care about the story anymore and just wanna finish it as soon as possible. It makes me so disappointed.

The build-up was great, with the latter part of the novel hinting towards another enemy.

The female MC had a lot of potential related to her abilities, but it seemed that the author decided: "Hmm, I don't want to write anymore; let's finish the feud and unveil the backstory of the family, then have a happy ever after without addressing the possible plot possibilities I have hinted in the story."

I only gave it 2 stars just because it tried to make the flow of the story as logical as possible, but... more>> then the author just said, f*ck it, I give up. <<less

Nice if you want the stereotypical face-slapping and head over heals ML. However, like many Chinese novels, has lots of parts that just don't fit common sense / reality.

Additionally,

Spoiler

Her biological mother suddenly changes personalities halfway through the book (and the author tries to explain it, but I personally felt it wasn't done well), and is always crying then.

The ending was super rushed as well. It tried to cover all the loose ends in like five paragraphs (and there were a lot of loose ends!) so those who were covered were done poorly and everything else was left in limbo.

So if you're okay with a bad ending, and want to read a face-slapping novel while turning your brain off, this is for you. <<less

Yikes this ended up being the kind of Mary-Sue novel that grates one's nerves LOL. The FL gets everything she wants, is capable of doing almost everything, and is loved by her newly adopted parents and multiple older brothers at the drop of the hat. I thought it was kind of interesting at first, the switched at birth trope is generic but it's still fun when done properly. Unfortunately, it became very clear that this this is simply a self-indulgent kind of novel. That is, if you like reading novels... more>> where the FL achieves everything she wants with little effort and steps on everyone who tortured her previously, then you'd probably enjoy this.

Part of my dislike is probably due to the MC's personality. It's very loud and proud. She acts like a cannon fodder tbh. LMFAO you know, the spoiled little princess who was fed with a silver spoon all her life and thinks she's superior because of it (in fact, thats literally her background XD). The "beautifying" is also very awkward. The original owner was dark skinned and had a petite figure with little curves. And because of that everyone disliked her. However, after changing skins (I mean this literally DX) everyone immediately thinks she's more beautiful than before and worthy of being loved. Even ignoring the blatant discrimination against skin color, I found the whole thing superficial to the extreme. I'm as much of a face-con as the average person, but this novel really goes over the top *skull-face*.

ANYWAY... I won't be giving this a rating cause I didn't make it far. But based on my initial impression, this would be 2 stars at most. The writing itself is not bad. The pacing too. It's just the content that's troublesome. <<less

This is a story about the FL, where she reincarnated into another girl's body who was exchanged during her birth.

I won't give to much details about what happened, but this is mainly about family and romance.

Personally, I like the plot of this novel very much, but during the last parts are a bit of rushed and there are many mysteries that haven't been told.

Spoiler

Like who is the System 007, how did the FL get to know System 008 or why did System 008 choose her as its host.

[collapse]
I suggest that you read the synopsis first, then if you like it, you should give it a go. If you like stories with systems, you should also try it.
Spoiler

But in the half part of the novel, the system gradually disappears after the FL activated all her all-purpose skills and got into a coma by saving her eldest brother.

Okay, so supposed to be 5 stars but I feel like there's a lot of unanswered mysteries and the ending is kinda rushed. I mean, I thought there's something more than those dreams she's having at the latter part. What about the experiences that Qiao Liang and the rest has experienced to that island? So what's the deal with Chu Ling? What happen to the system? Why does she have that? I honestly thought that it has some sci-fi reasons or so I thought. There's some side characters whose stories... more>> were mentioned in the beginning but then just got ignored because of the very abrupt ending.

Spoiler

Like for example, Lu Li and Wen Ning, despite being side characters, at least their story was mentioned and their past struggles. Unlike Alice and Lin Yuan whose story was just mentioned at the end and then suddenly having twins being introduced at Xiao Rou and Ah Liang's wedding.

[collapse]

Then how about Tang Xi's plan of transferring all her properties to Xiao Rou? I'm sure there's a lot of set backs in there yet it wasn't mentioned.

Also, compared to the previous protagonists with systems that I've read before, the FL's system doesn't made her omnipotent. No, actually, it does made her look omnipotent at first until she became weaker and weaker like a damsel in distress that even a simple push will made her bones dislocated and broken. And then at the beginning, she and her system has a lot of interactions until as the story progresses, it became less and less. At the latter part, I feel like the system has became a decoration or just a simple notification system instead of an assistant kind of system. Moving on, when it comes to our FL's character, sometimes I find her funny, sometimes I dislike her prideful nature especially when she became narrow-minded because of it, sometimes I like her coquettishness and sometimes I dislike her insensitiveness when it came to Ah Liang's emotions.

But it was actually really good, just everything abruptly end. And I don't feel that the ending justified everything. Maybe it'll be better if it's stretched a little more because it can still be broaden and has a lot of potential. So I rate it 8.5/10 <<less

General score: 4.5

I recommend this novel.

Additional comments: This novel can basically be split into 2 parts:

... more>> Arc 1: rebirth and getting stronger followed by getting rid of fake daughter

Arc 2: spy, business investigations, gangs

Points:

+ a fast-paced rebirth story (although timewise the story closes in about a year)

+ OP female lead (totally OP-knows 10 languages, remembers all high school knowledge while being 27 mentally-I am jealous ;) always lucky, can act&model, plays piano like a pro, sings well, AND still shows she is not the ever-best though
Spoiler

a great designer whose designs got stolen and used to promote fake fashion goddess are deemed weak by a real world class guru, so we have a nice and slight face slapping of FL

[collapse]

+ not overused (but almost omnipotent) system

Spoiler

medical skills, insider info, teleportation

[collapse]

+ overbearing and OP male lead

+++ the most amazing brothers in history (history of families with more than one son) :

Xiao Jing - a joker who likes to play games and is one of the best bros ever, can be responsible, has great sense of humor, can be serious when needed, my personal fav of the story

Xiao Sa - middle one, game developer, I love his teasing attitude for Xiao Jing

Xiao Yao - serious eldest bro, has emotional story with happy ending (somehow)

Xiao Yan - turns out to be a good bro, has more exposure in 2nd arc

+ a really nice parents/aunts/grandparents

+ happy ending (note: some open endings for side characters, but still satisfactory)

- a slight face-slapping (just meh~)

- you know how the plot goes (standardized plot with slight twist)

- silly misunderstanding between main characters that adds unnecessary drama

- s*upid villains

- has a lot space for development of the plot:

Spoiler

e.g. Main villain at the end could be more mysterious/stronger and have a back story, Mukun's family is simply asking to get more show time

[collapse]

- OPness of everything (life is not THAT easy)

- FL is soo smart yet soooo silly and cannot think things through which ends in her getting help from all other characters, which gets annoying near the end

Summary:

A nice and quick read. Good for binge reading. Happy ending, so it lifts the mood (there are jokes and funny moments). I would and will re-read it for Xiao Jing and other brothers as they are great. I wish I had such funny brothers. <<less
