The MC is a menace, I really like her. She is completely psychotic and unpredictable. The plot delivers on what it wants to do and the amount of killing is really satisfying. There are a lot of novels about 'mu*derous MC', but they often have like 40 chapter breaks between killing somebody and it just turns plain boring. This novel does it all from the start and I love it for this. Hopefully this gets picked back up.

A very unrealistic MC (who kills people just because) running around in yet another example of a contrived VRMMO that could never work in real life.

SPOILERS FOR FIRST 3-4 CHAPTERS:

... more>>
Spoiler

What company would get away with letting players set the pain setting so high that you can die IRL?

How can one Lv. 1 player kill so many players so fast? Are the other players made of soap bubbles? And why are none of these guys using the weapons they spawned with? It's s*upid how long it took players to react. There's no way that 100+ gamers are going to stand still (even if they didn't play the beta) until a random level one player in beginner gear manages to get kills in the doube digits. That would NEVER happen. Anyone who's played a MMO with mass PvP would understand the terror of player zergs, and would know that the MC would get mobbed and die in a split second.

What's even dumber is that not even the town guards can stop her. For real?? Why the f*ck are there even guards protecting the town if they can't stop a single, newly spawned player??? In any real MMO they would one-shot her. She wouldn't be able to decapitate one, either.

OK, so let's accept that this VRMMO is different. It's still just another example of how contrived it is. There's also a reason why games have safe zones. People just ragequit if everywhere is a PK zone, unless the game's main feature is whole-world PK -- in which case every player would spawn ready to fight.

Also, how does she know how to use camouflage or any of her other skills when she immediately killed the guy that was supposed to explain it to her? It just goes on and on.

[collapse]

I think people are partial to the story because it's a fresh and interesting perspective (sort of like when you save the game in Skyrim and then go on a killing/looting spree to see what you can pull off). It's definitely not worth five stars, though. And personally, I really dislike the MC, not just because she's basically a cartoon but because of [minor spoiler for chapter 1] that breaking someone's teeth thing. That pissed me off and made me want to see someone smash her teeth in >:@ <<less

Violence. Pure violence

story about the duke's daughter who lost her only foundation in her life - her mother

not just that, her father simply abandoned her in a sense - ignored her existence

... more>> depicted the parallel world of Japan being kingdom and there's VR tech which protag use it to free her from the shackles called reality and let her inner phychopath run loose

the story so far is nothing except her journey of solo massacre. No edgy chuunibyou shit. Just ice cold killa straight from hell who kill everything equally. Child, adult, man, women

9/11 would commit terrorism again <<less

Looks like it has potential. For those getting in be prepared for a evil protagonist, but if your willing to enjoy the violent shenanigans stay and enjoy.

This one sentence summons this novel up thus far: Unecessarily edgy violence.

I know she's supposed to be a psychopath but her behaviour isn't "likeable" at all. The game mechanics are wack too. She kills an NPC 20lv above her with an assassination skill onehit, this shouldn't even be considered a possibility. Furthermore she can do whatever she wants to, jumping above players heads as lv1, decapacitating them because why not, lifting men and using them as bodyshields without any loss of speed whatsoever.

These are only some of the inconsistencies I... more>> have read.

It's just plain s*upid and illogical. But if you're into that kind of powertripping fantasy this may be your cup of tea. It isn't mine. <<less

This novel is criminally underrated. Though, that's mainly because most of the reviews are from when the novel first came out, so I can't really blame the early reviewers. Anyway, let's take a couple steps back and let me explain this novel to you. I am going to explain the protagonist's character, but nothing too spoilery; you'll just receive the reasons for the main character's madness before she commits genocide instead of after.

The main character was born into an affluent family as a psychopath. She found abusing others fun and... more>> was completely unable to comprehend empathy. The only inhibitor to her actions was her mother, who was everything to her. At a young age, her mother passed away and left her with her cold, distant father, the man who abused and cheated on her mother, who immediately remarried and ignored and verbally abused her. The only thing that kept her from attacking others now was her late mother's wishes. The story begins when a package arrives, labelled KSO.

That's all I can say without spoiling anything, but I can assure you about some things. First of all, while the story certainly delivers on what most people came here for: the violence, it doesn't make it all overly edgy. The story doesn't act like the MC is in the right in any way shape or form. She is mentally ill and needs help, and the story doesn't hide that. From what I can tell, the story is developing into a story about the MC going on a journey, making friends, and slowly but surely recognizing and dealing with her illness. Secondly, plot holes. The only glaring plot hole I can remember is how she got her overwhelming fighting ability, which I personally don't think really needs to be explained.

I don't think I have anything else to comment on, but don't believe what the people who haven't read far into the novel say. This novel has a surprisingly good story and level of character depth. Compared to a lot of other vrmmorpg novels, this one has the best story, character wise, I can think of off the top of my head. The world of the game itself is slightly underdeveloped, but still better than most basic vrmmo novels. Anyway I have sh*t to do other than rant in mild displeasure in a review only like 3 people are gonna see, see ya. <<less

Lots of killing from a girl who can be considered evil. The MC is not one of those dense righteous blockheads who kill because they are offended or don't kill. She kills for the sake of killing and as no mercy. If you like a character that has an evil alignment and no hesitation in regards to massacre then this is your novel.

First I want to say that the start isn't the best but I think the best part of this story are the characters and how they interact with each other.

Second You shouldn't listen to reviews where the person only read the prologue or a few chapters because it's only their first reaction.

Third this is one of my favorite novels, not because it's that good but because I love to read it.

This novel is a mess. 20+ chapters in and theres no plot. At around chapter 25 her personality does a complete 180 decides to "befriend" some random dude she met and so far it seems like the only reason he was spared was so the reader could view his thoughts on how beautiful her back is.

Expanding on that, the power scaling makes no sense. The way they describe fighting reminds me of a bunch of kids roleplaying a fight via powergaming. Despite having zero muscles, she for some reason seems... more>> to have some absurd strength. At level 1 she was able to kill a whole crowd and face zero repercussions.

I'm going to pretend theres some contrived plot point like "using VRMMORPG technology, players take control of a clone in another world". Otherwise, I would have to come to the realization that nothing in this "VRMMORPG" makes a single lick of sense. I stopped at chapter 27 but from what I can tell it's just going to get more and more cringy.

EDIT: I have tried reading this multiple times, but every time I never make it past chapter 30. I want to reiterate something that wasn't terribly clear in my first review. Aside from the combat making next to zero sense, the plot itself makes no sense either. This MMO would not work in at all. Minor Spoilers
Spoiler

So, theres a chapter where they very briefly goes through the main character's absurd actions from the game developers point of view. Now, it is INCREDIBLY obvious how little sense this novel makes once you read. Your telling me in a MMO where any NPC is killable, it was unexpected for someone to kill the tutorial NPC that has like 1 hp? Also, the developers kept saying how it's absurd to get so much negative karma on the firs day, but how is it absurd? This is a MMORPG where anything and everything is killable. Surely there are more players than just one who decided to kill everything at moves right? Theres many other inconstancies than this. For example, you can set your pain setting to 100%, and the novel even states that its quite possible for someone to die using this setting. I find it incredibly unlikely for this to be even remotely legal. And again, I talked about this before, but why can a level 1 wantonly kill every human being in the starter city. Are there no strong guards? This makes no sense.

[collapse]

Besides all of that, the translation quality in this novel is really bad. Conversations in this novel aren't even remotely similar to how humans speak. This is essentially what you would get if you injected an AI with hundreds of hours of anime, and then told it to write dialogue for a psychotic character. Also, this novel has an excessive amount of periods. If the sentence doesn't end with a exclamation mark or a question mark, it certainly ends with a bunch of periods. Overall, this is a novel that was clearly banking off a unique main character, so much so they put zero effort into making a even remotely believable world, believable dialogue, etc. I wouldn't recommend this novel to anyone. <<less

Spoiler-free and slightly based review ahead

Well, this certainly isn't a novel that everyone would like. There are a lot of factors that perhaps a lot of people wouldn't enjoy.

Some examples of this that I've found in reviews would be unrealistic game mechanics, "Unnecessarily edgy violence", overpowered main character, and so on.

... more>> Basically, the aftermath of trying to read this novel would be one of three things:

  1. Quit reading after the first chapters because of the factors mentioned above. (And also not forgetting to express your opinion to everyone else.)
  2. Not really being a fan after the first few chapters but still reading further and eventually dropping the novel.
  3. You just eat it up in a whole day.
It is quite similar to BOFURI in a lot of those factors.

Of course, that's not to say that the novel is bad, quite the opposite in my opinion. While it does have your generic isekai issues mentioned above, it also carries its strengths as well as patching a lot of issues that generic isekai have. An example would be the MC. She is... quite a unique protagonist to say the least. While her background and such hasn't been thoroughly explained at the time that I'm writing this review, she certainly isn't one dimensional. Couple that with some interesting and enjoyable plot and you've got yourself quite the read.

And that's kinda it. While I would like to go more in-depth, sadly it's 4 am for me and I can feel my brain cells shutting down.

Also, I would like to like to say that although I'm sort of confident with my English, it is not my primary language so I'm sorry if my thoughts didn't come across cleanly. <<less

Sociopathic MC 10/10

No, it's not the kind of edgy MC who seeks slaughter while going «HAHAHA **villainous laughs**».

It's the kind of MC that do slaughterfest, killing left and right, because it's necessary for her sake... with no remorse nor any bullsh*t about moral values. The kind of slaughterer that uses children as her meatshield, scorches someone's head to delay her enemies, and kill the innocents for distraction so she can escapes.

Currently 3 chapters translated with 2 chapters filled with epic massacres. Temporarily give this one a 4/5.

This book does the "evil mc" thing really well, and it carries through with it unlike a lot of other novels.

The mc's character is made very believably by intertwining flashbacks with the plot, which support the feeling of "wtf she's a frigan psycho", and the author doesn't wuss out like most with this part. It's not one of the common "someone was killed, MC was framed but is actually a good person!!" stories, but one where the MC is genuinely screwed in the head and isn't afraid to embrace it.

The... more>> believability of the mc's character is genuinely astonishing. If the story had just jumped into the in-game plot, it would be like "this random crap, why the hell is this unnecessary and unreasonable killing happening!?", but during the irl stuff, we learn "This crap isn't just random, she's just truly a psycho", which in my opinion is extremely refreshing.

Not enough has been translated for me to give an accurate review on the world-building or side characters, but as far as I've read (she's just arrived to the 2nd town), the world-building has been done phenomenally, but the side characters have been a little weak.

All in all, an amazing series that I would recommend to anyone (young children excluded, for obvious reasons). <<less

Considering it's only the beginning of this story with only 24 chapters released at this moment, I will just divide the good and the bad points in two categories->

The good points:

-> Unique protagonist

-> Interesting plot

-> Down to earth characters

The bad points:

-> Deus ex machina

-> Unclear level up system

-> The entire story revolves around the protagonist

-> The excitement dwindles as the story progresses

The first arc was very fun to read, the second one was very boring comparing it to the 1st (still entertaining tho), after that the story just gets better and better, and its amazing where im at (chapter 156)

In the mine called novelupdates, which is filled with bronze and silver this is a gem, not of the best ones but a gem nevertheless

Heya all.
We get to experience some true blissful violence. Who cares if the game mechanics are a little wonky or that the MC seems to be a LITTLE op.

All I care for is how fun the MC makes the story to read, and the precious ‘what the hell’ moments from surrounding characters.

People talk a lot without thinking about this novel. They complain about how unrealistic the novel is and how the MC kills an NPC with one hit. I'm sorry but where is your common sense the NPC had no armor and nothing and being level 20 I highly doubt that a dagger cannot cut her head let's not talk that she approached and used an ability (surprise attack) to cause much more damage than normal. What I managed to kill so many people without people reacting is mainly because after... more>> killing the NPC SHE LEVELED UP so her statistics were boosted so it was not level 1 when I kill so many people and although this is a The author's mistake for not putting it at the beginning can be seen in later chapter as from what is seen she already knows you had mu*der or it may be an instinct. There has not been much development in the world.

Well now, counting everything that has been said, I will talk about the novel so that you understand it. It is a VRMMO or virtual reality novel although there are some impossible parts such as being able to put the pain to the maximum that it is possible to die but it can be ignored after all it is not possible that everything is realistic. In 2 place the novel brings a new premise and setting, with new combinations of skills and how the MC takes advantage of them. Other things to keep in mind that since it is a Japanese novel, most of the MC's weapons are as such Japanese (katanas, oradachis, ninja bombs and various other things) but in general there is not much attention and they put other things outside of that. It's honestly a novel to read in your spare time. !But! It won't be very long from what it shows. Unless of course they do something like extend the world / that the game becomes reality (unlikely) or goes to another plane outside the one it is now.

Everything written has been using Google translator, so sorry for the words and inquerent phrases <<less

So have you ever read a fluffy novel that makes you want to keep reading out of interest in how they’ll keep the fluffy feeling going?

This novel does that except instead of fluff it’s death.

Lots of death... and I love it so.

If you don’t like a sociopath for an MC, mass mu*der, implied torture, or are a beacon for justice like a certain hero from Arifureta, then this isn’t the novel for you.

I like the idea. But some stuff leaves me wanting. I kind of wish we got more of the MC interacting with the real world a bit. Such as her scrolling through forums of the game and seeing people mad or as she builds up a relationship with people. Her real life is pretty sh*t and I'd like to see something done for the MC such as finding a fellow sociopath ingame and they meet up together IRL. I can see the MC being friends with some shy and quiet... more>> girl that has a pretty poor life.

I also can't help but want this to be an isekai of sorts. I have never been a fan of stories set in a game world besides maybe Only sense Online. But I can't help but feel that this would be all the more badass and cool if we had an MC not afraid to kill whoever gets on her bad side. Obviously not females cause we need that bigger Yuri Harem! Kidding aside, The MC killing people and being gruesome isn't all that great since we know these are just AI and not actual people.

It's an interesting story that isn't a bad read but makes me wish we got something else. <<less

New.

Exciting.

Edge of your seat action in the first 5 chapters.

... more>> A very unique character, not your typical boring generic cowardly Japanese MC.

A Psychopath who actually knows they are a psychopath instead of trying to justify their psychotic killing sprees with "righteousness" or other bullshit.

It pulls you in soooooooooo fast. I can't wait for more. I really can't, to the point that I'm considering reading the raws.

And the MC isn't a boring edgelord either. She just wants to go on killing sprees, like a true psychopath. Oh my god, is this character refreshing for a Japanese series.

Usually they are psychotic or try to justify their actions or usually edge lord mu*derers or rapists, and try to make you feel like they are justified. Nope. She's just a cold blooded (well, she likes killing so probably not cold blooded) killer.

I'm in love with how refreshing this is. Lets hope it keeps that way, and she keeps her non-nonchalant psychopathy and mass mu*dering. I don't want her to develop "friendship" or "love", or any of that boring cliche stuff.

Just keep on mu*dering. <<less

Starts strong, gets a little dull for a bit, then gets really good and just builds up from there. When I think back to the first few dozen chapters I am legitimately shocked at how developed the characters have gotten, even the seemingly "joke" characters have a lot more to them than they seemed. I thought it was going to be practically slice of life but with a psychopath for an MC (just endless killing for shock value) but it has had better character development than most web novels on... more>> this site and even made me tear up a bit in the more emotional scenes. That said, the story is mostly action and the MC does not disappoint if you came looking for cruelty (this girl straight up desicrates dead bodies for fun) but it uses all that as a foundation to build upon and does an excellent job doing it. <<less
