First two chapters alone are enough to see how tr*sh this is. But honestly, the title alone should've been enough to tell that.

The story opens up trying to gain pity points with a sob story. Personally, I love sob stories. But like with any story, I actually prefer it being good. The premise of the sob story itself is just bizarre - she was trained to be wed to the crown prince from a young age, but the little sister begs her daddy and the candidate changes? This is the... more>> most unrealistic, not in the least thought out passage of drivel I've read. Why was she trained if she wasn't even engaged to the crown prince in the least yet? And why was the engagement decided to late? The crown prince's engagement at the very least should've been decided when he was a child. When the fiance is decided, then they of course have to go through rigorous training so they can take up the duty of Queen appropriately. So why were they able to change the candidate so easily...? That training is an effort of over a decade, once its been set, it's not going to f*cking change because they want to. The meager years before marriage are not enough to learn everything that's needed.

And these are just the large flaws I've found. I believe the difference between good and great lies in the care and thought put into the finer details - but seeing as no care or thought was put into the big details, its needless to say that pretty much all the minor things are just nonsensical or just shit. So they have a human sacrifice-esque thing where they give a bride to the dragon? And the background behind this could've been improved massively! Has the dragon been hostile and has had conflicts with the kingdom, deciding that the only way the dragon would stay their hand was with a regular sacrifice of a maiden? Or is it going to be like every other two bit light novel and be, 'i am dragon-sama, I never askd for brides ! you silly humans just assume be couze I am big and scary!'. I swear to god if its actually that. And what about the ceremony itself? The fact they're letting the daughter of a duke doing it, it must be pretty god damn important to them. But nope. From the writing, all they did was just yeet her into magma. There is nothing ceremonial or ritualistic about that. Are we meant to feel sympathetic that heroine-chan gave her life to something to insignificant? Because the unrealistic qualities behind this just completely ruin it. It doesn't matter whether shes got mommy or daddy points or not, shes still a noble of high standing. They'd never let someone be sacrificed in such a meaningless manner. Wouldn't it have been better if it was made to be grand ceremony, with many celebrating, and using it to contrast with the hopelessness that shes feeling? And that it was to ask the dragon for protection or blessings, and people constantly telling her what she's doing is for the greater good? But of course, a light novelist could never imagine to actually try to make a good story.

And that's just criticism of the ideas, let alone the writing that's on par with something written by a thirsty 13 year old girl on Wattpad. But I've gone on long enough, I'm not even going to try to delve into everything terrible about the writing itself. I suppose my disappointment is my fault anyway. I shouldn't have expected anything from a light novel in the first place. <<less

This series is a disappointing mess, well it's showing signs of bad story telling from the get go though. By the way, living with the dragon? That synopsis is a blatant lie.

The author made characters one dimentionally, bad guy will acts evil without actual reason. Good guys are symphatethic towards the MC but all of them are terribly incompetent despite their stated skills or status. The MC herself is a dense white lotus rarely found in Japanese series, she is so naive that she even protected the people... more>> who tortured her out of compassion. The male lead is abruptly and completely gone out of the picture after a certain event in the novel, he's a damned dragon which is an existance close to be a god but because the author wanted to show the MC struggling, she written him out for more than 50 chapters. The politicking is plain boring and dumb, there's no intelligent political battle. Unfortunately for 50 chapters while the male lead is gone, it's all about incompetently written politics.

The male lead is one of the worst part of the stories, he's being depicted as one of the greatest being in that world and have been living for thousands of years but he have a toddler level of intelligence and mental capacity. He can't distinguish one human and another because for him human looks like insects, they're so insignificant to him but somehow he can easily fall in love with the MC with childish reasons. After that he tried to impress her by giving her gifts which he thinks it's awesome for her while it's actually not (its a complete burden) and she have told him she doesn't need it at all; but he gave her the gift anyway. The best part is, right after giving the burden (oops I mean present) to the MC, he goes out for something trivial then never heard again for the rest of the story right until the last moment it all ends. The conflict of the story actually produced by him because if he's wise enough to live happily with the MC without doing extremely s*upid things which sugarcoated as 'doting love interest', there won't be s*upid and prolonged melodrama here. Also, sending your soon-to-be-bride into the den of wolf by herself while you're doing nothing in the background, how much of an idiot are you?

Lastly, with all that build up setting the MC into endless struggles, the conclusion from the conficts are extremely underwhelming and seems like being brushed over. Imagine your teacher gives you nonsensical assigments, you're preserving only because she tempted you with rewards, but when you finished the assignments she just dangle the rewards in front of you then keep it herself while giving you another assigment. The worst part? She never rewards you with anything; that's how you will feel after you're reading up to the latest chapter like me lol. <<less

Honestly, the Manga is better so far. This rendition misses out on all the nuance that went into MC's decision on becoming a dragon bride.

Spoiler

The manga made it clear that the little sister is an untrained spoiled brat and the crown prince has always been MC's fiancee, but the duke only asked the prince if it was ok to change it. The prince who has no time was just like a fiancee is a fiancee and doesn't care. The problems for MC are actually of greater urgency in the manga because her engagement has been canceled other nobles think that it was some kind of disgrace on her part. So males try to sexually assault her and females all gossip about her and call her a who*e and other such names. She can't get married because her reputation is in tatters and no one wants to take the princes leftovers. She basically has no worth and not even her parents are willing to clear up matters because it will make little sister look bad. She honestly thinks she has no worth and her parents are kind of abusive. And the manga clears up that because she called him beautiful he's falling in love with her.

There isn't much translated content so far, but there's a lot of mysteries surrounding the plot, and I'm excited for them to be revealed!

The summary is under exaggerating what the sister did to steal the crown prince, fyi. This may seem like a whiny "My love interest left me now I shall die" trope but it's most likely deeper than that.

Can't wait for this ln to update!

C10 and so far it's pretty bad.

The first translator was painful. The second may or may not be good but either way it's a painful read.

The premise is incredibly bad, and as it gets fleshed out it gets worse. At chapter 10, I can only say the novel would have been improved if everyone jumped into the volcano. MC, her parents, the prince, the sister all of them just so the IQ of this kingdom could go up a couple of points

Edit: It really does work better as manga

This story starts okay at first. The sister stealing her fiance and then the MC was suicidal to give herself worth? I don't want to use that word but the way her mentality and reason to go through this "ritual" made it seem like she is.

I wouldn't mind it as much cause this is fiction after all there is bound to be mistakes. But there has to be a reason to stay invested. And that this story is lacking two aspects. The political and the romance.

Romance wise was odd. The... more>> MC has potential but when paired with the ML whose feelings has just begun from interest at first feels mildly forced. It's mainly because the author puts too much going on.

Like this is where the political stuff was not incorporated well. There's need to be a balance where political and romance needs to be or focused on one thing then introduce the other.

The author decided to show both but there's too much going on.

For example, she's supposed to be the sacrifice and was expected to die. Further on the story suddenly she was discovered not dead. And she has good relationship with the dragon. The one who discovered her is an acquaintance? That also has a crush for her. And somehow because duty he has to report she is not dead. Why? Like sure she's still alive was shocking and has good relationship with the dragon. But this person is in love with her. There has to be some common sense that by reporting this matter, she's going to get thrown into a power struggle. Also it's way too soon she hasn't even develop a decent relationship with the ML except getting new place to live and flew around the sky. The development is too little.

It's not boring but too much stuff going on can drain you. Just know reading this for the romance can be frustratating. <<less
