It's sad that the ML's parents', Yan Ning and Zheng HongMing's, relationship never really repairs. As Yan Ning shares his story with He An, he tells him that Zheng Feiluan made the same mistake as Zheng HongMing, but his relationship with HongMing is beyond repair because HongMing waited too long (20 years!) to try to reconcile. By the end of the novel, we see Zheng HongMing is still earnestly trying to rekindle his relationship with Yan Ning, who never responds with anything more than common courtesy.

I think Dai and Cheng Xiu were a side couple, but it was really hard to tell through the MTL. It became very obvious to me when they're still running the inn together when He An moved out to live with Zheng Feiluan. It wasn't really obvious since the development in their relationship happened outside the novel and was never cover, but we get hints from the fact that they're always together and quarrel a lot. The two are never really affectionate. They just live an ordinary life together with no melo-drama.

I think shou suffer is umm... not what I’m looking for. Gong is too cruel! Even if I want gong to r*pe shou when pregnant but that was just too brutal even if it was what he did unconsciously. I still prefer something more lighter than this at least half of it.

seriously, I did consider to kill the slag gong. but in half till last chapters, he did have remorse and did everything to pay back. that part where he regretted everything and suffered is delicious maaan. this schadenfreude delights me very much. but still, I wanna kick him somehow. eh I'm a bit heartless anyway.
